The Temple of Earth does not have the royal style of the Forbidden City, nor is it as magnificent as the Temple of Heaven, but it is a special existence in Beijing.

The square altar of earth is opposite to the round Temple of Heaven, meaning "the sky is round and the earth is square". More than 30 years ago, a clear-faced young man would come to the then deserted and dilapidated Ditan Park in a wheelchair almost every day. He often stayed from morning until sunset when he came.

Unfortunately, his legs were disabled, and Shi Tiesheng fell into a low point in his life. His body and brain lost control at all times. He survived due to a short circuit in the wires, but God refused to accept him.

How can a young man in his early twenties suddenly lose his feet in his best years?! At that moment of despair, inferiority, loneliness, and confusion, it could not have been earlier or later. At this just right moment, he entered the altar of earth in a wheelchair.

Nowadays, tickets to Ditan Park are cheap and close to free, and Beijing's attractions are the ones that most hate to let tourists spend money.

Ditan Park has four entrances, southeast, northwest, and west. I entered from the south gate, but the west gate is the main entrance.

The major events of the country are sacrifices and sacrifices. In ancient times, emperors had the custom of offering sacrifices all year round. They sacrificed on the vernal equinox, the earth on the summer solstice, the moon on the autumn equinox, and the sky on the winter solstice. Each event has a very ceremonial feeling.

During the Jiajing period, the emperor forcibly divided the Tiandi Altar, built a new stove in the northern suburbs of Peiping, and built a Fangze Altar, which is today's Di Altar. From then on, sacrifices to heaven and earth were carried out separately.

The altar of earth is the second largest among the five altars in the ancient capital of Beijing. It is the largest existing altar of sacrifice in my country. It was built in the ninth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1530). It echoes the Temple of Heaven and faces the Yonghe Palace, the Confucian Temple, and the Imperial Academy across the river.

The altar of earth was a place where emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties sacrificed their sacrifices to the god "Empress Earth". The entire altar was square and was built in accordance with traditional cultures such as "the sky is round and the earth is square","the sky is green and the earth is square", and "the sky is south and the earth is north". Ancient buildings such as Fangze Altar, Emperor's Room, Animal Slaughter Pavilion, Zhai Palace, and Shenku are currently existing.

There are many ancient and famous trees in the park over a century old. You must see these three ancient trees: the one-armed General Cypress, the Grand General Cypress, and the Old General Cypress.

The ancient cypress platoon station is always at the level of an uncle and has a sense of history.

After passing this row of ancient cypress trees, you will directly encounter the center of Ditan Park: Fangzetan, also known as the altar. This is the most worth seeing, so it is charged separately, but it is not expensive, only 5 yuan.

In the tenth year of Xianfeng (1860), the British and French allied forces invaded Beijing. The British army occupied the altar of earth, leveled the low walls around Fangze Altar, and transformed the altar into a fortress.

The little girl read the introduction very carefully. When she grows up, she will definitely be admitted to the History Department of Peking University.

The Huangzhi Room is the main hall of the Earth Altar. It sits south and north and worships the Houtu God and the five mountains, five towns, four seas, and four deserts. The ranks of the gods are ranked according to their ranks.

In the northeast corner of the park, there is a traditional Chinese medicine health culture park built by descendants. This is the first special park in my country with the theme of traditional Chinese medicine health culture.

The park is divided into the five organs of the liver, heart, spleen, lung and kidney, with the connotations of the five elements, five colors and five directions, and water and land are used as meridians to connect the whole park into a complete living form.

Nearly a hundred kinds of Chinese herbal medicines and medicinal plants are planted in the park. pavilions, corridors, rockery, and flowers have also been built. The classical garden has all elements, completely different from the painting style of the altar.

The bell tower is square in plan view, with a structure of green glazed tiles with double eaves and a mountain top. The inscription on the bell is engraved with the eight words "Ming Jiajing Date and Date System". The bell is loud and deep.

Shenmaquan is the place where the emperor feeds his royal horses when he comes to sacrifice.

The fasting palace is surrounded but cannot be seen. It is under maintenance. It is the place where the emperor fasted and stayed during his sacrifice to the ground. It sits west and east and consists of three halls, west, south and north. Shunzhi, Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong and Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty have all stayed here.

The slaughter pavilion is equivalent to the current meat factory. It only kills the livestock used for sacrifice, heats water to remove the wool of the livestock, and then does some cooking work.

The Shenku is a group of small buildings, consisting of four five-bay hanging mountain halls and two well pavilions. The main hall is called the "Shenku" and is the place where the Phoenix Pavilion (the sedan chair that carries the "Queen's Land" god seat) and the Dragon Pavilion (the sedan chair that carries the allocation, subordinate seat, etc.) are stored. The east hall is called the "Sacrifice Ware Warehouse", which stores the utensils used for sacrifice, the west hall is called the "Divine Chef", which makes sacrificial offerings, and the south hall is called the "Musical Instrument Warehouse", which stores musical instruments used for sacrifice. The east and west well pavilions provide water for the Ze Canal and water for the Shenchu.

Ginkgo trees are everywhere in the north, which is not unusual at all, but they look different when they are planted in the ground, and they seem to be worth a lot more.

There is a Ginkgo Avenue in Ditan. More than 200 ginkgo trees are very thick and tall. Most of them were planted in the 1950s. Although it is called Ginkgo Avenue, the road is not very wide or long.

I looked away and scanned the autumn leaves and colorful forest. I found a few canthus trees that had already borne canthus and would be ready to eat in the future.

Although Ditan is a royal sacrificial site, for some unknown reason, today's Ditan gives people a very down-to-earth feeling. It has become a sacred place for pigeons, and feeding pigeons does not have to fly to the Plaza de Paris.

Then I walked to the West Gate. The Ming and Qing dynasties emperors entered the Ditan from the West Gate archway. The Ditan archway is as tall and majestic as the East Gate archway of the Summer Palace. When it was built in the Ming Dynasty, it was called the "Taizhe Street" archway. When it was rebuilt during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, it was changed to the "Guanghou Street" archway. The current archway was rebuilt in 1990, and the original archway was demolished in 1953. The reason is that the archway is close to the road and affects traffic. I am also speechless, so I will not comment on this.

Crossing the road west from Ditan Park, you will reach Qingnian Lake Park.

Are only young people allowed to come to this park to play? Of course not. You see, most of the people walking are not young people.

Then why is it named Qingnian Lake Park?

In the 1950s, this area was still a big puddle. In 1958, more than 700 students from Beijing No. 1 Middle School, No. 5 Middle School and No. 21 Middle School responded to the call to participate in voluntary labor here to dig the lake. Hucheng is named Qingnian Lake.

The young people who worked hard to dig the lake are now all white-haired and old.

Outside the Anding Gate of the North Second Ring Road, the long bridge is flat and the clear water is rippling. Qingnian Lake Park is like an emerald inlaid in the community. Behind the sculpture is a ginkgo forest, which must be beautiful in autumn.

The park is well greenery, with lush trees and vitality, and green in the eye. Walking along the river and circling the lake ten times will never tire of it.

After crossing the bridge, you will find an island in the middle of the lake, surrounded by willows. There is also a white stone bridge on the other side of the island, leading to the other bank. From a distance, it looks like the double bridges of the West Lake.

When you come to this park, adults can walk and chat on the walking path beside the lotus pond. The elderly are sitting quietly on chairs. Some art lovers are sketching with drawing boards. There is no sense of urgency here, but there is just a sense of contentment. At this time, children may wish to go to the children's playground to play, where there are bumper cars and game consoles, so that they can play happily.

There are many beautiful pavilions and lofts in the park, where residents can be seen playing cards from time to time. This park has a history of nearly 60 years and is an irreplaceable existence in the hearts of nearby people.

The park is quite large, with scenic spots such as Shuoyuan, Baochun Island, Hetang, Shenglanxuan, Yiyuan and other scenic spots. A fake rock stands on the bank with two red characters "Like Mirror" engraved on it, which means that the lake is as flat as a mirror.

Don't just know about the Water Cube when playing in water. Qingnian Lake has a water world with various water entertainment projects such as water slide slides and Shuanglong slides. Out of Qingnian Lake Park, I took a bus to the Drum Tower. After getting off the bus, I saw a brick tower, which meant that the Drum Tower was here and we were all busy all afternoon.

The Drum Tower is not just about drums, but also bells. The Drum Tower beats drums to set the clock, and the Bell Tower rings the bell to tell the time. This is how the dusk drums and morning bells came from. This is the ancient timing method and urban management method, which provides people with time for work and daily life.

Liu Xinwu also wrote the novel "Bell and Drum Tower", where life should listen to the morning bells and evening drums once.

The Bell Tower and Drum Tower are located in the south and north of the square, only a hundred meters apart. The square is very popular.
