Zhouyuan is located in Baima Town, Lishui District, Nanjing City. It is the largest private collection in China. It was built by Mr. Zhou Hetong, a British Chinese. It is a national AAAA tourist attraction and enjoys the reputation of "having the Forbidden City in the north and Zhouyuan in the south." Zhouyuan is themed by Buddhist culture and Hui-style architecture. Zhouyuan is an antique building in the Forbidden City style, covering an area of about 100 acres. Currently, there are countless museums around the world, but representative private collections are rare. The Zhou Garden houses nearly 10,000 pieces of collections from the five generations of the Zhou family over the past century. However, according to the person in charge of the Zhou Garden, this is only a quarter of the Zhou family's collections stored at home and abroad. The Zhou Garden courtyard consists of Imperial Dining Room, Shangshu Room, Baifo Hall, Yangxin Hall, Shilong Hall, Taihe Zhai, Baohe Zhai, Thousand Buddha Corridor, Baizong Hall, Root Carving Hall, Stone Carving Hall, Emblem Building Complex, etc. Moreover, the overall design of the Zhou Garden is auspicious and shaped like "Ruyi", and tourists seem to be walking above Ruyi when visiting. It means everything goes well, so Zhouyuan is also known as the "White Horse Ruyi Culture and Art Center".
Entering the park, you will find a mahogany bed king covering an area of 30 square meters, a single-wood table king that is more than 3000 years old, a dragon and phoenix inkstone weighing 6.5 tons, a rare yew tea sea, more than 4000 stone carved Buddha statues of various sizes, and more than 2000 square meters of large and small. Large exquisite hand-painted murals. There are countless rare treasures everywhere... These rare treasures will shock your vision...
Walking into Zhou Garden, you will find a four-pillar and three-story eaves gate with carved dragons and painted phoenixes standing in front of you. On the left side of the gate is a huge nine-dragon wall, with nine dragon sons squatting in front of the wall. The stone carvings of the two generals in front of the mountain gate were not angry but majestic.
The first attraction after entering the door is the "Thousand Buddha Corridor", a 318-meter corridor. The Buddhist shrines house 1000 Buddha statues of different periods, different sects, and different styles. The staff said that these Buddha statues came from all over the country, and a small number of them were "purchased" from overseas. The freight alone cost tens of millions. Across the Thousand Buddha Corridor, there is an open-air square where many giant Buddha statues appear in front of us, as well as stone monuments, Buddha statues and stupas from various periods. Their scale and number have amazed many knowledgeable visitors in China.

There are 199 standing Buddhas on the left, which means a long time. After walking the Buddhist Road, you will enter the "Thousand Buddha Corridor" scenic spot. The corridor is painted with exquisite Sugar-style colored paintings. The contents of the colored paintings vary, telling Confucian classics and Taoist legends. These Buddhas were collected by Mr. Zhou Hetong's family from various places at home and abroad. Looking around from one side of the corridor, the thousands of Buddhas and the red pillars of the corridor reflect each other, making them sacred and solemn; the peaceful Buddhist sounds are surrounded by your ears, wandering in the corridor. It seems like you are in tranquility. Some of these Buddhas are worshipped by devout tourists, who come to Zhouyuan to pay homage to Buddhas every year on major festivals. The Buddhist niches are dedicated to Buddha statues in different periods. The Buddha statues enshrined in the Thousand Buddha Corridor are mainly stone Buddhas. From the shape, we can see the differences in the carving dynasties. The statues in the Northern Dynasty were rough and simple, the statues in the Tang Dynasty were plump and dignified, and the statues in the Song Dynasty were elegant and beautiful; the Buddha statues here are really different in shapes, some are like preaching Dharma, while others are like accepting the wishes of the people... The Nine Dragon Wall, which was transferred by the people at the Jiulong Stone Wall, was cut into four sections at that time.

Zhou Garden has Buddhism as its theme. Various Buddha statues are scattered in every corner of Zhou Garden. There are more than 4800 stone Buddha statues in the entire Zhou Garden. Among them, the 318-meter-long Thousand Buddha Corridor houses Buddhist shrines of different periods, different sects, and different styles. There are more than 1300 Buddha statues. Walking through it makes people feel very shocking.
Blessed are all the descendants of Fulu Shou Stone Wall, and enjoy happiness during family happiness.

Collected stone Buddha statues are placed everywhere. It is said that many of them were collected during the relocation of the Three Gorges.

After looking for fragrance, you enter the Root Carving Hall. The sculptures have a three-dimensional sense of space and are different from planar paintings. In terms of form, it can be divided into two types: embossed and round carving. embossed is generally viewed on one side, while round carving can be viewed from four or even multiple sides. There are about 80 large-scale wood carvings here, among which the single-wood table king, which is more than 3000 years old, is even more shocking. It is carved from thousands of years of Brazilian rosewood. The surface is smooth as jade, and the texture is clearly visible. Strolling in the root carving hall, the aroma of camphor smells you. Many root carvings are made of camphor wood. You can smell the pleasant aroma close, giving people a sense of peace and tranquility. Wood Carving Root Carving Hall

In the Shangshu Room, there are some couplets hanging on the back wall of the room. The four treasures of the study room, camphor wood tea sea, and root-carved seats are all eye-catching. The desk facing the door is said to be carved from rosewood over a thousand years old. It is matched with banyan root carved seats and camphor wood tea sea. The entire study room looks antique. Adjacent to the imperial dining room is the Hundred Buddha Hall, where Mr. Zhou Hetong worshiped Buddha. More than 100 Buddha statues are enshrined in the hall. There is a nine-level stone stupa in Zhengzhong, and in front of it lies a longevity turtle listening to Dharma. A few steps forward from the Hundred Buddha Hall is Yangxin Zhai, which is the place to cultivate the mind and cultivate nature. This is the owner's bedroom. The extremely luxurious acid branch wooden walking room is carved with jade dragons, sometimes waving its claws and waving its claws, sometimes riding on the clouds; there is a tiger skin spread under the bed, showing the style of a king, which is really commendable. But the most surprising thing is the inconspicuous floor tiles in the bedroom. The park tour guide said that the floor tiles in Yangxinzhai are all two-foot square bricks unique to the Forbidden City in Beijing. They were originally made in Suzhou and transported to the capital through the Suhang Grand Canal. They are decorative bricks unique to the court. Moreover, they are hard and will make a metallic sound when knocked. The making process of this brick is a unique Chinese art and is called "breathing brick". A brick is worth thousands of taels of gold. It can be said to be "a brick of gold". In the Shangshu room filled with the fragrance of ink and wood, the four treasures of the study room are all invaluable. The black dragon and phoenix inkstone on the left hand weighs 6.5 tons. There are 27 dragons and 2 phoenixes carved on it, implying the auspicious appearance of dragons and phoenixes. The desk is also carved from the whole wood of a thousand-year-old tree.

The Zhouyuan jade carvings are also invaluable. They are all carved from nephrite from Xinjiang. It is not easy to collect one piece, but it is even more rare to collect one set. It can be seen that the owner, Mr. Zhou, spent the effort and financial resources. Among them, the 18 Arhat jade carvings are round in quality and white in the whole body; a Jiulong jade carving carved with a whole jade has nine flying dragons with majestic momentum and leaps before your eyes, like a real dragon reappearing, looking like a real dragon.

Walking up the steps from Yangxin Zhai is a magnificent and resplendent hall with two floors and five bays and multiple eaves on the top of the mountain. The dragon is a symbol of authority and honor; the lion is a guardian beast. Chinese people like lion dragons. The owner of Zhou Garden is a British Chinese, so he has a special liking for "lion dragons", so it is named "Lion Dragon Hall". This is the owner's living room, which contains countless rare treasures. When the foundation was started, a valuable jade toad was buried under the foundation. The toad has always been regarded as an auspicious thing that attracts wealth, attracts gold and thrives, and exorcizes evil spirits. Chen Wanbao, in the Shilong Hall Hall, has a gold plaque titled "Five Dynasties Prosperity" to tell people that this place houses private collections of the Zhou family's five generations. In the hall, the golden dragons hanging on the red pillars, the murals on the surrounding walls and ceilings, the hand-painted harmony seals and decorative patterns of the building were all drawn one by one by the skilled craftsmen hired to restore the Forbidden City, and all of them were used. Mineral materials, such as malachite for green, stone yellow for yellow, and cinnabar for red. It can be preserved for a hundred years indoors and for 70 years outdoors without fading. It is beautiful and exciting.
Shilong Hall has a lion dragon table in the middle, 3 tons, which is the mother table. In the center of Shilong Hall is a large round table made of sour branch wood. It was bought by Mr. Zhou from a large family in Tianjin, with two pots of Ganoderma lucidum placed on it. On the tables where Guanyin Bodhisattva is enshrined in the hall, bells and bottles are placed, implying "the end (bell) is flat (bottle) is safe." The two multi-treasure cabinets in the same form displayed in the hall are one of the highly valuable collections in the Zhou Garden. Duobao cabinets are made of rosewood and are made of imitation bamboo products. The exquisiteness of the carving is amazing. It is said that this treasure cabinet dates from the Cixi period. The phoenix spreads its wings on the top of the cabinet and is about to fly, and the dragon below it symbolizes the era of the Empress Dowager of the Qing Dynasty. The Lion Dragon Table is the "treasure of the town" of Zhouyuan. This table with sour branch wood cloud dragon patterns inlaid with jade waist and three-curved animal feet is 3.2 meters long, 1.2 meters wide, 1 meter high, and weighs 3 tons. "It took more than two hours for more than twenty great guys to put it in place." The staff introduced that "Shilong Hall" was also named after this. In fact, its value lies not only in its large and heavy size, but also in its superb craftsmanship, carving and culture that makes it popular among its owners. At the same time, the foundation of Shilong Hall is also buried with the treasure of the town house-jade toad. The overall momentum of the building and display is no less than that of the royal family.
There is a unicorn squatting on each side of the lion dragon table. It is a mythical beast that is very popular among the people. It is also known as the "Eight Buxiang". It combines the dragon head, lion's eyes, antlers, tiger's back, bear's waist, snake scales, horseshoe, ox tail and eight treasures in one. It is known as "unicorn sends children, unicorn sends blessings, and unicorn sends wealth". The Jade Guanyin Bodhisattva is enshrined on the table in the hall. His right leg is bent and his left leg is bent but not bent. He sits on a lotus throne, sacred and solemn. The location of the Jade Guanyin Bodhisattva is also very special. It is facing the pearl of the two dragons playing with beads on the roof of the imperial dining room opposite. It is connected in a straight line and has symmetrical axes, implying solemnity and innocence. There are also clocks and bottles placed on the table, which means "peace in life". Jade Toad, Lion Dragon Table, and Jade Guanyin are also known as the "Three Treasures of Zhouyuan Town House". The two multi-treasure cabinets of the same style displayed in the hall are one of the highly valuable collections in Zhou Garden. Duobao cabinets are made of rosewood and are made of imitation bamboo products. The exquisiteness of the carving is amazing. Imitation of bamboo reflects the ancients 'love for bamboo, and it is "rather to eat without meat than live without bamboo." It is said that this treasure cabinet dates from the Cixi period. The phoenix spreads its wings on the top of the cabinet and is about to fly, and the dragon below it symbolizes the era of the Empress Dowager of the Qing Dynasty. The function of the multi-treasure cabinet was used by the ladies of large families in ancient times to store gold, silver and jewelry.
At the staircase on the right side there is a statue of Guanyin carved from camphor wood. The finishing touch of this wood carving is the engraved scripture on the upper right, which is coated with a layer of gold powder, making it look noble and generous. Slowly walking up the stairs to the second floor, a wood carving of the Eighteen Arhats is particularly eye-catching. Three parts are artificial and seven parts are natural. The original tree roots are retained at the bottom. The carving is more exquisite. The beard, eyebrows, and pores of the Arhats are clearly visible. Looking down the wood carvings one by one, you will find a screen that is not eye-catching. When you look closer, you will find that there is a lot of mystery. It is carved from a whole piece of jade with 101 characters "Shou" carved on it. The writing of each character is different, and the larger character "Shou" in the middle seems to be composed of the three characters "Lao Qing Young" from top to bottom. The collections in the entire Shilong Hall are dazzling and eye-opening.

Shilong Hall is the owner's living room. It has two floors in total. There are countless rare treasures inside it. There is a priceless jade toad buried under the foundation. The toad is a three-legged auspicious thing and has always been regarded as a sacred object. It has the function of dispelling evil spirits, absorbing gold, prospering wealth, and turning evil spirits. This table is the same as the one in the imperial dining room.
There are more than 120 ancient beds in the Baizong Hall. Four-poster beds, six-poster beds... there are many styles, most of which are mahogany. They are very well preserved and collected from all over the people.
The exquisite murals on the wall of Baizuguan were made by craftsmen from the Forbidden City. The most exciting thing in the painting is the "Chaoyuan Painting", also known as the "Yongle Palace Painting". The entire mural has a total of 1000 square meters, and a total of 286 gods are painted. It is a large-scale ceremonial worship lineup. The height of the statue of the emperor and queen and the jade maiden exceeds the height of an ordinary real person, and the picture is magnificent.
This small room is actually a bed, known as the king of beds. This bed was specially built for the last emperor Puyi when he came to Tianjin in distress. The entire bed is 6 meters long, 5 meters wide, and 2.8 meters high. It covers an area of 30 square meters. The bed is carved with beams and painted buildings, and the dragon head is varicose. Someone was once willing to bid 80 million yuan for it, but now the value is incalculable.

The conference room in Zhou Yuan was also very noble and domineering. This long solid wood table and chair that only four people could lift made everyone sigh.

After viewing the cultural and art exhibition area, you will walk through the promenade to the quadrange-style Hui Cultural Experience Center. According to the park tour guide, Mr. Zhou Hetong has collected more than 40 Hui-style buildings in Jiangxi, Anhui Province. He purchased the entire house first, then disassembled the wood, stone, bricks, etc. piece by piece, and transported it to Zhouyuan, Baima Town, Lishui District. Then find skilled craftsmen to repair it. At present, due to Zhouyuan's limited area, only five Hui-style buildings have been accommodated, and the rest will be accommodated in the fourth phase of Zhouyuan's project. These buildings are divided into official houses and commercial houses. Their appearance and interior decoration are different, reflecting their respective identities and styles. There is a sculpture in the shape of an official hat on the roof of the official house, the windows on the outer wall are "rice shaped", and two stone lions sit at the door. When you step into the official house, you look up and see a patio, which is used for ventilation and light, and also for the purpose of gathering wealth. When it rains, rainwater falls into the pool through the patio and is directed into the hall behind the courtyard through special drainage channels, implying that "the four waters return to the Mingtang, and the fertile water does not flow out." The commercial house next door looks more elegant than the official house. The windows on the outer wall are in the shape of copper coins. The interior decoration is more luxurious. The patterns carved on the wall are also unique. The patio has a round shape at the top and the bottom, which means that the sky is round and the earth is square. The second means that as a business person, you should have a smooth mind. The octagonal shape below means that you can get wealth from all directions and be exquisite on all sides. These two buildings are both courtyards, divided into a front hall and a back hall, and a wing room on the second floor, which basically fully displays the characteristics of Hui-style architecture.

In the warm spring, flowers bloom and lishui travel, and the clouds and water meditation view the Zhou Garden. There are many unique styles in the world, and I linger to express my poetic feelings. Due to the shallow culture, what I pay more attention to is also more curious, just like when I visited the Potala Palace and shouted,"A lot of gold." Therefore, this travel note is just a reminder. Friends who are interested in cultural relics, furniture, carving, Buddhism, etc., please don't berate me for losing the watermelon and picking up sesame seeds, and returning empty-handed into Baoshan. If you can learn through this travel note that Nanjing has Zhouyuan, the largest private museum in China, then my goal will be achieved.
