Beijing has always been a place that most Chinese people want to visit. I am no exception, and my father-in-law is no exception. This time, I just had time to accompany the old man to realize his dream of traveling in the capital. The time was chosen to avoid the May Day peak and also consider climate issues. However, the result was that the weather in Beijing in May was hotter than in the south, and the average temperature for several days was basically around 35 degrees.
Overall, this trip was mixed. On the one hand, it just happened to catch up with the "Belt and Road" event. Therefore, Beijing's air quality index was relatively better than usual, but it was still relatively poor compared with other southern cities. On the other hand, due to major events, many scenic spots were decorated very beautifully, which can be regarded as a bonus for the trip. On the other hand, the poor one was also due to the "Belt and Road" reason, sometimes scenic spots were blocked and it was impossible to visit. For example, Tiananmen Square has to be visited several times before you can enter.
However, the overall evaluation shows that traveling in Beijing is quite good, with a very strong cultural atmosphere and authentic customs that other places cannot imitate.
Here are a few scenery maps of the main attractions:

day 1
Today, because we are on the road most of the time, there are no scenic spots arranged to visit. After arriving in Beijing, we can only casually visit the hotel and visit the famous Wangfujing Commercial Street.

Capital International Airport
Beijing's airport is really big, but the capital is just different. The first impression when I come to Beijing is the sky. It is foggy and has no sense of transparency. I heard that this is because of the "Belt and Road" and many factories have been closed, which makes the weather much better. I wonder what it will be like when it is bad?
Wangfujing pedestrian street
I often hear about Wangfujing in TV dramas. I couldn't wait to visit it when I came to Beijing. There are many time-honored brand stores opening branches here, such as Goubuli, Quanjude, Donglaishun, Daoxiang Village, etc.
There is a snack street inside with many local snacks. If you have the opportunity, you can come here to experience it. After all, tourism does not have to go to various attractions to be considered a tourist. Feel the local customs and customs, eat local food, see the local scenery, live in local characteristics, etc. are all part of tourism, right?
Beijing Quanjude (Wangfujing Store)
People who have never been to Beijing should have heard of Beijing Roast Duck. When it comes to Beijing Roast Duck, Quanjude should be a representative. However, compared with old Beijingers, they may not necessarily come to Quanjude to eat. In fact, there are many other local shops that are also very authentic, but foreigners usually come here because of their admiration.
The master first took out part of the skin of the roast duck and said that this part was the best place. It melted immediately in the mouth, but it was a little greasy

day 2
The Temple of Heaven is in the south of Beijing City, on the east side of Yongdingmennei Street in Dongcheng Area. It covers an area of approximately 2.73 million square meters. The Temple of Heaven was built in the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420) and was rebuilt during the Qianlong and Guangxu periods of the Qing Dynasty. It was a place for emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties to sacrifice to the emperor and pray for a good harvest of the five grains. The Temple of Heaven is the general term for the two altars of Circular Mound and Praying Valley. It has two altar walls, forming an inner and outer altar. The altar walls are round in the south and in the north, symbolizing the roundness of the sky and the square of the earth. The main building is an inner altar, with the Circular Mound Altar in the south and the Grain Prayer Altar in the north. The two altars are on the same north-south axis, separated by a wall in the middle. The main buildings in the Circular Mound Altar include the Circular Mound Altar, the Imperial Firmament, etc. The main buildings in the Grain Prayer Altar include the Hall of Prayer for New Year, the Hall of Huangqian, and the Gate of Prayer for New Year, etc.
Tiantan Park is supported by 28 large golden nanmu pillars, which are arranged in a circular manner. There are 4 "Longjing pillars" in the middle, 19.2 meters high and 1.2 meters in diameter, supporting the upper eaves; the 12 gold pillars in the middle support the second eaves, and exquisite patterns are painted on the vermilion primer by dipping powder and adding gold; 12 eaves pillars on the periphery support the third eaves; three-layer ceilings are correspondingly set, and a dragon and phoenix caisson is set in the middle; the beams in the hall are decorated with colorful paintings of dragon and phoenix and seal. The four "Longjing Pillars" in the middle of the Hall of Prayer for Good Years symbolize the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter of the year; the twelve large pillars in the middle layer are slightly thinner than the Longjing Pillars and are called golden pillars, symbolizing the 12 months of the year; the 12 pillars on the outer layer are called eaves pillars, symbolizing the 12 hours of the day. There are a total of 24 pillars on the Chinese and foreign floors, symbolizing the 24 solar terms

zhengyangmen
Zhengyang Gate, commonly known as Qianmen, Qianmenlouzi, and Daqianmen, was originally named Lizheng Gate. It was the main south gate of Beijing's inner city during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is located at the southernmost tip of Tiananmen Square on the north-south central axis of Beijing and south of Chairman Mao Memorial Hall. Founded in the 17th year of Yongle (1419) of Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty, it is one of the "Nine Gates of the Capital" in old Beijing. It integrates Zhengyangmen Tower, Arrow Tower and Wengcheng. It is a complete ancient defensive building system. According to local chronicles, the towers and arrow towers at that time were magnificent in scale and tall in shape; the Weng City was vigorous and was a representative of the old Beijing city wall architecture. Now only towers and arrow towers are left, and they are the only relatively completely preserved city gate in Beijing. There is the Beijing Folk Customs Exhibition Hall on the tower.
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, we often heard about the position of "Nine Gates Admiral". Zhengyang Gate was one of the nine gates and was an important gate for the defense of the capital.
Xiyuanju Old Beijing Shabu (Qiandian)
In Beijing's traditional hot pot, the soup base is just boiling boiling water, and add some green onions, ginger slices and wolfberry seeds. Compared with the colorful soup bases we usually eat, it is really a clear stream. It seems that the soup base has no effect on the shabu, but it allows you to taste the most original taste of mutton.
This is a very popular hot-boiled mutton restaurant. It is a very old shop. Looking at the menu, wow, Beijingers have so many different ways to eat beef and mutton. The meat is divided into many varieties, with different names, but I can't figure out the differences, so I ordered their own Baitian Sheep, Sheep Shangnao, Sheep Melon Slicks and some vegetables.
Tips: queuing up on your mobile phone in advance can save a lot of time!
This shop is located on Qianmen Street, and their hot pot is said to be very famous locally.
There are still many people lining up for Xiyuanju Old Beijing Shabu.
Xiyuanju Old Beijing Pork Shabu is steaming hot. Where is the meat? Hurry up!
Xiyuanju Old Beijing Hot Pot
Xiyuanju Old Beijing Shabu This shop has mutton and beef. Many of them are freshly cut fresh meat, which has a richer taste and I like it very much!
Xiyuanju Old Beijing Shabu mutton is divided into freshly cut fresh meat and machine-cut frozen meat rolls. We didn't order frozen meat rolls because they have their own ranch in the northern grassland, and all fresh mutton comes from there. The meat is delicate, with a little grease but not greasy. Sheep melon strips should be one of the specialties of the store. It is said that they are a must-order for Beijing-style shabu.
Xiyuanju Old Beijing Shabu Pork Shabu is a lamb and melon strips. We originally wanted to order more frozen meat rolls and try them. It is said that they are not bad. The frozen meat rolls are cut by a machine. It's thinner and tastes more tender, but I can't eat it anymore.
Xiyuanju Old Beijing Hot Pot. My favorite sesame sauce in the store is the secret recipe passed down by the owner! It is made with 29 kinds of seasonings such as fermented bean curd, leek flower, and braised shrimp oil. There is also coriander (you can choose whether to add it according to your personal preference), which is both fresh and salty, and has a thick and satisfying taste!
dashilan Commercial Street
The trip to Beijing was almost over. Before returning, I decided to spend half a day buying some Beijing specialties and take them back. After wandering around Dazhalan for a long time, I decided to buy some roast duck and Daoxiang Village snacks that represented Beijing's characteristics. However, when I went to Quanjude, I found that at the current temperature above 35 degrees in Beijing, I only bought some of the snacks from Daoxiang Village and brought them back as specialties for the return journey.
gongwangfu
Gong's Mansion is a national key cultural relic protection unit and the largest palace in the Qing Dynasty. It was once the residence of Heshen and Yonglin. In 1851, Prince Gong Xin became the owner of the house, and the name Gong Wang Mansion was given. Gong Wang Mansion has gone through the historical process of the Qing Dynasty from its peak to its decline, and carries extremely rich historical and cultural information. Therefore, there is the saying that "a Gong Wang Mansion is half of the history of the Qing Dynasty."
Gong's Mansion consists of two parts: a mansion and a garden. The mansion is not only spacious, but also the building is subject to the highest regulations. The obvious signs are the face of the door and the number of houses. The Prince's Mansion has five doors, seven main halls, five back halls, seven back bedrooms, and two side halls on the left and right sides. No more than these figures should be allowed to house princes below the rank of princes. The form of the house and the color of the roof tiles cannot be exceeded. There are three courtyards on the middle, east and west roads of Gong Wang Fu, and the last two courtyards on each road are the main areas that people want to visit.
Olympic Forest Park
Originally, our itinerary was to arrange to visit scenic spots during the day, rest at night or visit nearby commercial streets, but we saw news on the Internet that due to the Belt and Road Initiative, the night view of the Olympic Park is very good, and the weather is also relatively hot, so we put the scenic spots here at night, and the overall feeling is still good. The park is huge and the scenery is beautiful.
The famous Bird's Nest, the main hall of the 2008 Olympics and the main venue for the opening ceremony, was jointly designed and completed by China and Switzerland at a total cost of 3.5 billion yuan
This is very science fiction
day 3
Forbidden City
I estimate that 99% of people who come to Beijing will come here to visit it. After all, this is the palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Because of this, it is simply crowded here. It is recommended to book tickets online here, and you need to book tickets one day in advance. The Forbidden City does not provide online booking services on the same day, and the maximum number of people it accepts per day is 80000.
Under normal circumstances, it is recommended to look at Tiananmen Square first and then come to the Forbidden City, because behind the Tiananmen Gate is the Duanmen Gate, and behind the Duanmen Gate is the entrance to the Forbidden City: the "Meridian Gate"(the one that the emperor often said in TV dramas that launched the Beheading of Meridian Gate).
I have recorded the main architectural descriptions of the Forbidden City through camera photography. The description method in this article is pictures first and then explanations, so the pictures will not be introduced too much.

Jingshan Park
Regarding the description of Jingshan Park, you can look at the description on Baidu. There are three reasons why we chose this place:
1. It is right at the exit of the Forbidden City, which is convenient
2. Jingshan Park can see a panoramic view of the entire Forbidden City
3. I heard that Emperor Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty was hanged on the crooked neck tree in Jingshan. I wanted to see this famous tree (but I couldn't find it)
The exit of the Forbidden City is across the road from the entrance of Jingshan Park. You can see a panoramic view of the entire Forbidden City from the Wanchun Pavilion at the top
White Tower in Beihai Park, unfortunately the weather is bad and the visibility is too poor
Tiananmen Square
Tiananmen Square: We have been running to this place many times but failed to enter. Today, we can finally go in and have a look. Due to the Belt and Road problem, this place was under martial law a few days ago. We came several times but failed to visit it. Today, we finally got our wish.
Why are you so persistent? Because I learned it since elementary school,"Beijing, Tiananmen Square, the five-star red flag, I love Beijing Tiananmen Square, the sun rises on Tiananmen Square..." You didn't want to come and visit when you came to Beijing?
Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, I have visited it several times this time, but it was not open. It is a pity that I did not see the remains of the great man

Standing on the Tiananmen Gate and watching Tiananmen Square, I imagined the scene of the National Day military parade in my mind, and suddenly I felt like a great man.

summer Palace
Let me first talk about my personal evaluation of this place: a very good place, a place that you can't miss when visiting Beijing.
The Summer Palace, a royal garden during the Qing Dynasty in China, was formerly known as Qingyi Garden. It is located in the western suburbs of Beijing, 15 kilometers away from the Urban area and covers an area of about 290 hectares, adjacent to Yuanmingyuan. It is a large-scale landscape garden built based on Kunming Lake and Wanshou Mountain, based on Hangzhou West Lake, and drawing on the design techniques of Jiangnan gardens. It is also the most completely preserved royal palace and imperial garden. It is known as the "Royal Garden Museum" and is also a national key tourist attraction.
The area here is the size of four Forbidden City. If you want to have a good time, it may take a day.
day 5
National Museum of China
If you want to learn about the humanities, history, customs, etc. of a place, then going to a museum is the best place.
The National Museum has introduced a lot about China's history and culture. If you want to really understand it here, you may not be able to read it all in many days. I suggest that if friends have enough time, they can stay here for more time to learn about us. The cultural history of this country.
day 6
Beijing West Railway Station
The 6-day trip to Beijing has finally ended. For me, it was a very satisfying trip. Although I didn't like the weather in Beijing very much, it was still very good in other aspects.
