"Bashang" is a knot that every photographer can't get around. In summer, the sky is blue, the grass is green, the clouds and flowers are beautiful, and the wild is fragrant. In autumn, there are places where horses are sparse and dense. The birch forest gradually turns golden, the mountains and rivers and canyons are colorful, and the cattle and sheep are flocked on the meadow. The wind blows over your face, and you can still smell the fragrance of autumn; In winter, it is covered with snow, with silver snakes dancing on the mountains, wax elephants in the original, and village smoke, fences, cattle, sheep and dogs on the vast snowy plains, forming a charming scenery of the Northern Kingdom.
As a native of Nanjing, I have no experience in snow. Nanjing snows several times every year, but I have never experienced the extremely cold snow scenery that is difficult to walk and drips into freezing water. How much I want to have fun in the north. Sprinkle back into the wild in the snow. So at the end of 2019, I signed up to participate in the Bashang Winter Photography Group on a certain website.
In winter, the temperature on Bashang is close to minus 30℃. Coupled with the roaring north wind, in the words of the team leader, my body feels definitely better than that of the Arctic Village. For this trip, I brought almost all my cold-proof clothes, including thermal underwear, woolen vests, down vests, down jackets, assault jackets, and only 4 pieces of long johns. Before leaving, I specially bought snow covers online. Everything was ready and waiting for the departure day.
After arriving in Beijing in the early morning of December 29, I first went to the hotel to check in. After unloading my heavy luggage, I packed lightly and went to Tiananmen Square to prepare to watch the flag-raising ceremony. As the security check took some time, when I arrived at the flag-raising place, the ceremony was over. I took a quick stroll around the square and went to Zhongshan Park.
Then we walked to the northwest corner and northeast corner towers of the Forbidden City. These are classic shooting spots in Beijing, but today's smog is heavy and the river is frozen, so the light and shadow effects are not ideal.
Next, I went to climb Jingshan Park. I originally wanted to take a panoramic view of the Forbidden City, but because the air was not transparent enough, I had to give up. Some persimmon trees are planted at the west gate of Jingshan Park. There are no picked persimmon trees on them, which has become a delicacy for winter birds.
The nearby Beihai Park has not been here in decades, so I visited it again this time.
After coming out of Beihai Park, I took the bus and subway to the Summer Palace.
This time, I came to the Summer Palace with only one purpose, which was to photograph the golden perforation of the 17-hole bridge. Every year around the winter solstice, the 17-hole bridge in the Summer Palace will see the spectacle of "golden light penetrating the hole". Under the afterglow of the sunset, every hole in the 17-hole bridge appears with golden light. Shooting this landscape has naturally become a great pleasure for photography enthusiasts.
I walked all the way from the North Palace Gate of the Summer Palace and arrived at the location where the golden light piercing hole of the 17-hole bridge was filmed. It was less than 2 o'clock in the afternoon. There were still at least 2 hours before the real shooting time. By this time, there were already three and three people gathered by the guardrail. Photographers, everyone was braving the cold wind and looking forward to the shooting time coming earlier.
As time passed by, the clouds in the sky became thicker and thicker. The bridge hole, which originally had some thin light, finally turned dark. I stayed up until 16:30 and saw that the sun was really out of reach, so I reluctantly packed and left.
Early the next morning, we set off for Bashang. After changing to a local minibus in the paddock, we carefully headed to Ulan Butong through the snow. By the time we arrived at the back mountain of Aobao, the sun had already set, and there was no time to climb the nearby hill, so we took a few photos near Baicaobao.
In the evening, the organizer of the event hosted everyone for a reasonably sumptuous dinner at Tianhong Hotel. Also starting from today, our 10 photographers in one car automatically gathered together to form a table. Under the leadership of "Yangjiang Lao Mo", the funny and atmospheric character, we filmed delicious food without miss, with big fish and meat, fine wine and delicious food, and laughed about life. After eating Tianhong for two nights, group member "Qianc" found the No. 1 "Xiaoniao Restaurant" on a certain review, and everyone moved there for another two nights.
The difference between the photo team and the tourist group is that they need to get up early and shoot the sunrise and sunset, and return to the hotel to rest and catch up on sleep during the strong light period around noon. The photography groups that you often see on the Internet often have a group of people surrounding a target. There is a voice shouting: "Aperture XX, shutter speed XX, sensitivity 100, start shooting." It's us, but what's a little different this time is that we met Han Kai, an expert photographer, who not only provided on-site guidance, but also used other time to teach everyone to improve their teaching.
Before writing travel notes, I saw a poem by Tagore quoted by Xiao Hu in the group: "No matter how long the shadow of the tree at dusk stretches, it cannot be separated from the roots. No matter how far you go, you cannot walk out of my heart." This poem was perfect as a label for my own picture, so I stole it as the opening line for my picture.

On the evening of December 31, the event organizers specially set off fireworks in Baicao Aobao to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new.
Wind ditch sunrise
The morning of the wind ditch is the day with the lowest physical temperature. The freezing makes people's fingers tingle, and the hot air exhaled immediately freezes, and it feels like the ice debris is going to stick the upper and lower eyelids together. Thick ice was also formed on the river, and the thin snow on it left traces of my presence.
