How can you truly experience this autumn without seeing red leaves? October 2019 has entered the second half of the month. This year's autumn of red leaves seems to be a little later than in previous years. At this time, I thought of the red leaf-viewing slope and peak ridge located in Fangshan. Since I came here, I no longer yearn for Xiangshan.

This is the third time I have come to Pofengling. I have seen coggygria flowers blooming in the mountains in spring. This is the first time I know that these trees that will turn red also have a poetic name called coggygria. After watching its beautiful flowers bloom, I hoped that the autumn leaves would be red. Until I saw the opening of the 8th Youlanshan Red Leaf Festival, I was filled with dreams and followed it again.

I am so busy every day that I don't know what a holiday is. This time, I still choose to live in the mountains and give myself a complete vacation.

For tourists who have never been to Pofengling, they may still be unfamiliar with it and don't know how to eat, live and play. They may as well follow Xiaobian's footsteps to see how to play well.

1. How to get to Pofengling

Pofengling is 52 kilometers away from downtown Beijing and 3 kilometers northwest of Huangshandian Village, Zhoukoudian Town, Fangshan District. Nowadays, as long as you want to go anywhere, transportation is too convenient. Even a foreign country is far away, you can basically get there in one day, so coming to Fangshan Pofengling is not a problem.

Xiaobian is from Hebei. When he comes to Beijing, he needs to take the high-speed rail, then transfer to the subway, and then transfer to get off No. 32. The journey was a little troublesome. However, you can also take a taxi if you are afraid of trouble. It's just a bit far from the South Railway Station. I experienced it once and spent more than 200 yuan to the parking lot in the scenic spot. If you care about money, you'd better come out early and take the subway. It won't cost much money.

2. Accommodation issues in Laipofengling

If you are from other places or are not driving by yourself and want to have a good time in Pofengling, it is recommended to spend 2 to 3 days. You can come on Friday afternoon, go back on Sunday, or come on Saturday and come back on Sunday, so that you can have fun and relax.

Regarding accommodation, don't look at the mountains, this is not a problem. There are farmhouses and high-end country houses.

I came to Pofengling three times, once in spring and twice attracted by red leaves. I lived in the "Cloud Stone House" at the foot of Pofengling Mountain for the first time, and I was deeply impressed.

"Yunshang Stone House" is a stone house secluded in the middle of the mountain. The courtyard walls are all made of stone. The courtyards are spacious, clean and quiet. The courtyards are all named after "Huaguo", including Cherry Courtyard and Persimmons Courtyard. The experience of living here is to wake up in the early morning to the chirping of birds and suddenly live in an outdoor peach garden far away from the world.

The second time I chose to change places and came to a B & B in Huangshandian Village, Youlanshan, called "Yellow Cotinus Blooms".

This place is also renovated from rural houses. The courtyard is large, decorated with literary arts, and the interior decoration is elegant and comfortable, giving a good feeling of experience.

The third time I lived in the "grandma's courtyard". Hearing the name, it always reminded people of grandma in the distance and was very cordial.

Huangshandian Village, where the B & B is located, was originally named "Taoyekou". It was established before the Ming Dynasty, so it got its name because of its long and narrow land. There are 10 courtyards in the village. They are all B & Bs developed by the "Hermit Village" company. They include grandma's courtyard, peach leaf valley, and coggyus flowers blooming. From the second to fourth residences, they are all converted from old houses in the village.

The reason why the B & B chose to be built here is because about one kilometer away from it is the Pofeng Ridge with "red leaves and green midstream, colorful dancing in the sky".

In the courtyards built north and south along the long roadway in the village, the interior and spatial layout design of the houses try to retain the pattern of the old houses. They only add the modern artistic sense of the integration of countryside and nature, and are secluded and luxurious, and can satisfy the needs of modern urbanites for living comfort.

Three meals a day can be served in the courtyard of the B & B, all home-cooked meals. The landlord and housekeeper were very amiable and had a sweet smile. After drinking the golden millet porridge she made early in the morning, she was in a good mood.

3. Enjoy the red leaves on Pofeng Ridge

I had a pleasant breakfast in the small courtyard of the B & B, and started a day of watching red leaves amidst the morning cries of birds.

At this time, it was during the 10.10-11.15 period of the 8th Youlanshan Red Leaf Festival. It was very close to the Pofengling Scenic Area and within walking distance.

The red leaves of Pofengling have gradually entered the eyes of tourists in recent years. Because the coverage of red leaves here in autumn reaches 75%, it is so red that it is all over the mountains and plains, making it the second best viewing spot to enjoy red leaves in Beijing in October after Xiangshan Mountain. The key is that there are fewer tourists here than Xiangshan. You don't have to be so crowded. You can play slowly in the mountains.

There are many coggygria in the Pofengling Mountains. This plant is also known as red leaf, red leaf coggygria, and ecliptic coggygria. It is an important ornamental red leaf tree species in China. Its leaves turn red in autumn and are bright and eye-catching. The famous red leaves in Xiangshan Mountain in Beijing are this kind of tree.

Some people describe Xiangshan in late autumn as "red mountains and stained with forests", while the description of Pofengling is "red leaves and green midstream, dancing in the sky with colorful practices." Pofengling in late October looks like a red ocean when viewed from a distance.

In the early morning, the light is right, and we walk up the stone steps. There are not many tourists. Shuttling through the red leaves in the mountains, it is like entering a fairyland.

Climbing high and looking into the distance, you will see the beauty of the slopes, peaks and ridges, and the layers of forests are dyed. Bathed in the fluttering leaves blown by the wind, at this moment, I forget my way home.

It takes about 3 hours to visit the Pofengling Scenic Area, and it takes a day to play slowly. There are many kinds of meals and folk experiences in the scenic area, and there are many tourists with families and children.

4. Bus route for Pofengling:

1. Bus route: Take Bus No. 917 at Liuliqiao in Beijing to Zhoukoudian Crossing Station, transfer to Bus No. 32 to Huangshandian Village Entrance Station, and you will arrive 200 meters west.

2. Subway route: Take the Beijing Metro Fangshan Line to the terminal station Suzhuang Station, then transfer to buses 907, 917, Fang15 and Fang31, take to Zhoukoudian Passenger Station, transfer to Fang32 to Huangshandian Village Entrance Station, and get off. Go west 200 meters to arrive.
