In a corner of northern Beijing, there is a thousand-year-old temple. The reputation of Hongluo Temple has been resounded in the northern land for thousands of years. It has a long history and is a beautiful place for beauty. Hongluo Temple, located on the southern foot of Hongluo Mountain 5 kilometers north of Huairou District, Beijing City, has a long history and a completely new decoration. Hongluo Temple was built in the fourth year of Xiankang in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (AD 338) and has a history of nearly 1700 years. Originally known as "Daming Temple", it was renamed "Huguofuchan Temple" during the Ming Zhengtong Period. Later, it was commonly known as "Hongluo Temple" due to the wonderful legend of the Hongluo Fairy.
Hongluo Temple is built along the mountain, with a rigorous layout, magnificent momentum, and rows of ancient buildings. After a winter snow, people deeply feel the beauty of ancient Chinese buildings and the shock brought by the thousand-year history here. Relying on Hongluo Mountain on the back and shining on Hongluo Lake in the south, it shows its beauty in the mountains and rivers, and its unique appearance in the lush forests and lush trees, forming a beautiful picture of "ancient temples hidden in blue waves". The bamboo forest in front of the mountain gate was planted in the Yuan Dynasty. It has a history of more than 600 years and is evergreen all year round.
According to the "Huairou County Annals", in the 32nd year of Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1694 AD), incense fell from Shengjia Hongluo Temple. Seeing this green bamboo forest was very novel, he ordered officials around him to count the number of bamboos as 613. Before leaving, he urged the monks and local officials in the temple to protect the bamboo forest well so that he could come and enjoy it often. Later, people called this bamboo forest the "Imperial Bamboo Forest". In the northwest corner of the bamboo forest, there is also a "Bamboo Watching Pavilion" restored as it was. Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty once set up a royal seat in the original pavilion to admire bamboo. The bamboo forest of Hongluo Temple grows luxuriantly all year round, with about one million bamboos. It is called one of the "Three Wonders of Hongluo".
Walking through the quiet path of Yuzhu Garden, everything suddenly became clear. The light breeze passed through the forest, carrying the chirping of magpies. Mountain spring water flowed down from the valley and gathered in the small lake in front of you. A pair of fairies stood gracefully in it. The two red snails are particularly eye-catching, and a white ribbon has also been added between the spiral lines by the previous heavy snow. Simulated flower scenes such as plum blossoms and peach blossoms also bring a hint of spring in the snowy winter.
The name "Hongluo Temple" comes from a beautiful legend. Legend has it that the two princesses of the Jade Emperor both felt that life in the celestial palace was too cold and silent, so they descended to the earth together. They came to a large mountain, where mountains and rivers were interdependent, ancient trees were towering, and an antique temple was hidden among the green. From time to time, the sound of wooden fish and the sound of chanting scriptures could be heard in the elegant and solemn temple. This place is not a fairyland, but it is better than a fairyland, deeply touching the two princesses. The idea of the two princesses living here for a long time arose. They transformed into a pair of big red snails and lived in the lake in front of the temple. During the day, they transformed into human beings and worshipped Buddha and recited scriptures with the monks in the temple; at night, the two princesses transformed into red snails and released thousands of red lights, illuminating the temple and the foothills red. They also used their divine power to secretly protect temples and local people. From then on, the weather here was smooth, the forests were lush and the grain was abundant, and the people were all grateful to Fairy Hongluo for her kindness. In the Yuan Dynasty, the Jade Emperor recalled them to the Heavenly Palace. In order to commemorate these two Hongluo fairies and pray that one day the fairies could return here, people called the mountain north of the temple Hongluo Mountain, the lake south of the temple Hongluo Lake, and the temple was also called "Hongluo Temple".
Overlooking Hongluo Temple from the sky, its architectural structure is quite classic, and its architectural form is unique to the north. Hongluo Temple, surrounded by mountains and rivers, is divided into five courtyards, including the Intermediate Court, the East Crossing Courtyard, the West Crossing Courtyard, the East Xiakan, the West Pagoda Courtyard, etc., with 244 rooms. The Intermediate People's Court is centered on the Mountain Gate, Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, and the Three Sacred Hall. It has four auxiliary halls in the east and west; the Thousand Hand Guanyin Hall, the Jixing Ancestral Hall, the Yinguang Ancestral Hall and the Sutra Chanting Room. The east courtyard is the reception area; the west courtyard is the abbot's retreat hall and Shifang Hall; the north of the east hill is the old monk retreat hall and Yanchou Hall, and the south is the practice ground; the west hill is the snail pagoda and ashes hall.
Walking through Hongluo Temple, you can not only appreciate the excellent natural scenery, but also feel the very strong cultural and historical atmosphere. Coinciding with the Spring Festival of the Year of the Gengzi Rat, Hongluo Temple also combines China's New Year customs culture with its own folk culture, using 5,000 palace lanterns, 4,000 lanterns, various imitation flowers and red silk ribbons to decorate the park. The layout is full of New Year flavor.
Since the establishment of Hongluo Temple, there has been an endless stream of good men and women, and it has become very popular. On specific days or periods, people come here to pray for marriage and studies. It is not difficult to see from the praying ribbons hanging everywhere that the folk culture of Hongluo Temple has long been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. You can still see some foreign friends here from time to time. It can be imagined that China's rich and colorful folk culture since ancient times has long traveled across the ocean and spread around the world.
Although the winter in the north is cold and cold, showing depression, you can feel the deep warmth when you walk into Hongluo Temple. Whether it is the Fuzi Palace Lantern covering almost all routes or the giant lantern corridor, we can experience the lively atmosphere of the Chinese Year. Regardless of whether it is "blessings of friendship","blessings of patriotism","blessings of harmony","blessings of prosperity" or the most rare "blessings of dedication" and "blessings of the whole family", in this Hongluo Temple, where you can see blessings when you look up, you can be blessed and full of happiness.
In addition to watching, there is naturally no shortage of experience. The "Bush-Fu Bell" outside the mountain gate is very popular with everyone. The ringing of the bell in the ancient temple is a very wonderful thing. The ancient bell with the word "blessing" on it, red silk wrapped around it, and gold belts is even more exciting. From one to ten, there are different beautiful meanings. The bell rises and falls, spreads far and endlessly, and also symbolizes the health and safety of the praying person.
As a long-standing folk cultural symbol, the zodiac zodiac has left a large number of poems, Spring Festival couplets, paintings, calligraphy and folk crafts depicting the image and symbolic significance of the zodiac zodiac. Each zodiac sign has rich legends, which form a conceptual interpretation system and become an image philosophy in folk culture, such as the zodiac sign in marriage, temple prayers, and the birth year. In modern times, more people regard the zodiac zodiac as the mascot of the Spring Festival and become a symbol of entertainment and cultural activities. In the Twelve Zodiac Garden of Hongluo Temple, Kang Zinian's mascot-"Mouse" was decorated with great fanfare, and a special prayer wall was set up. This is also the most attractive place to tourists. Everyone competed to take a photo with the "Mouse", the mascot of the Year of the Geng Zi, to make a good start.
There are many forms of praying, not only because this is a folk culture of the Chinese people since ancient times, but also because they hope to change the way of life and entertainment during their busy work. For example, on the Yue Lao Praying Wall next to Guanyin Temple, in Yue Lao's long beard, there are roses hidden. You can go forward and give one to your loved one at will. There will also be a unique sentence on this unique rose, which is all very sweet words.
Although Hongluo Temple is a good place to climb on foot, it cannot avoid some tourists who have limited mobility or do not want to climb mountains. It is just like going to Guanyin Temple and choosing to take a slide up and down the mountain. The whole journey is 2.3 kilometers, and the upward route is 800 meters. It is towed by cables and escorted by staff down. You can not only enjoy a leisurely journey, but also experience the "thrilling" slide "downhill. Of course, if you don't like it too exciting, you can inform the staff in advance.
The Chinese Year is the most popular festival of Chinese people. Every place holds various activities during the New Year. Hongluo Temple is no exception.
