Yihe Garden--West Dike Chapter

The West Embankment is located in the middle of Kunming Lake in the Summer Palace. It is modeled on the Su Embankment of West Lake in Hangzhou. Rows of willows and peach trees are planted. Whenever spring is warm and flowers bloom, red peaches and green willows are intertwined, like the color of Yangzhou in March. The scenery of West Lake in Hangzhou seems to be wandering in the south of the Yangtze River and being on the West Lake.

There are six bridges and one building complex built on the west embankment from north to south, namely Jiehu Bridge, Binfeng Bridge, Yudai Bridge, Jing Bridge, Lian Bridge and Liu Bridge. The Jingming Tower complex was built between Lianqiao and Liuqiao.

Liu Bridge

The Liuqiao is at the southernmost tip. It was called Jiehu Bridge during Qingyi Garden. During the Guangxu period, due to the green willows on the west bank, the word Liuqiao was borrowed from Du Fu's poem "The Liuqiao is sunny and has wadded" to the Liuqiao. The middle of the bridge is a square hole, and there are coupon issuing holes on both sides. There are bridge pavilions with double eaves resting on the top of the mountain. The bridge pavilions are colorful, setting off the lakes and mountains, making poems suitable for painting.

Lian Bridge

Lian Bridge is a square hole bridge, and the bridge pavilion is a square pavilion with double eaves and four corners. Lianqiao is named after Xie Tiao from the Southern Dynasty's "Climbing the Three Mountains in the Late Period and Returning to Wangjing City":"Yu Xia scattered into Qi, Chengjiang River was as quiet as practice." Practice is white silk, which describes the water here as clean as practice. The view around Lianqiao is wide, and the scenery of Nanhu Island, Seventeen-Arch Bridge, Foxiang Pavilion, Central Axis Building, Zhijing Pavilion, Changguantang Hall, Zaojiantang and other ring bridges can all be seen one by one. A large area of lotus flowers is planted in the lake water west of Lianqiao. There is a scene of "endless green lotus leaves connecting the sky, and the lotus flowers reflecting the sun are particularly red" on the West Lake and Su Causeway in Hangzhou. This pond is magnificent and will come as scheduled in July and August every summer.

telescope bridge

The name of the mirror bridge comes from Li Bai's poem,"Two rivers sandwich a mirror, and two bridges fall into the rainbow." It is a flat and two slope style, with square bridge holes, and a bridge pavilion with octagonal double eaves on the bridge. The existing bridge pavilion was restored after 1949 based on the original pillarbase design. Standing on the mirror bridge, you can have a panoramic view of the Kunming Lake and West Lake in the Summer Palace.

Crossing the Yudai Bridge and heading south, the embankment becomes wider and narrower, and the direction of the western embankment also turns from southwest to southeast. Walking to Jingqiao, the inner lake and the small West Lake mirror each other across the embankment. The water on both sides looks like huge mirrors. The beautiful figures of the bridge pavilion are divided into the water, and the scenery is unique.

yudaiqiao

The Yudai Bridge is the only single-hole high-arch stone bridge on the west embankment. It was built in the 15th year of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1750). It was the passage for Qianlong to take a boat from Kunming Lake to Yuquan Mountain. The bridge has a single-hole net span of 11.38 meters and a height of about 8.7 meters. The bridge body is made of white marble and blue white stone. The deck is double reverse curves, forming a wave-line bridge type and equipped with white stone railings. The white bridge railing observation columns are carved with various cranes flying into the clouds. The carving is exquisite and the image is vivid, making it particularly magnificent. The jade belt bridge is high and thin, shaped like a jade belt, and the curved lines are very smooth. The semicircular bridge holes and the reflections in the water form a transparent full moon. The reflections of the bridge railing and observation columns around them are uneven and float on the satin water. The scene is very moving. The egg-tip-shaped bridge arch is particularly tall, like a jade belt. This bridge was formerly named "Dome Bridge", commonly known as the Hump Bridge, and was named after its image. The Jade Belt Bridge has a history of more than 200 years. The three powerful characters "Jade Belt Bridge" are engraved on the middle railing of the east facade of the bridge. Emperor Qianlong's imperial inscription is still left on the bridge: to the east is: "The bright moon mirror is paved with a trace of Luodai, and the rainbow light is hundreds of feet across the crystal curtain"; to the west is: "The earth is close to the Xingjiang River in Yingzhou and the sky, and there are many palaces and palaces on the water side of Pengdao", vividly portraying the scenery around the Jade Belt Bridge.

Binfeng Bridge

Bin [b] Wind Bridge is a major scenic spot in the Geng Zhitu Scenic Area. The building is in the form of a house bridge, located in the north and south direction, with a bluestone platform foundation. The middle bridge hole is square, and the upper edges of the bridge holes on both sides are round. A wooden rectangular bridge pavilion with double eaves and sharp points is built on the bridge, with a width of three rooms. At that time, Emperor Qianlong named it Sangzhu Bridge. Cixi avoided the suspicion of "mourning for the owner", so she used the original meaning of Sangzhu Bridge and changed it to Binfeng Bridge. The poem "Bin Feng·July" in the "Book of Songs" describes the production and life of people in Bin (now Bin County, Shaanxi Province) during the Western Zhou Dynasty. The name of Bin Feng Bridge coincides with the living scenes of water towns, swamps, and men farming and women weaving in the "Farming and Weaving Map Scenic Area" on the west side of the bridge.

Jiehu Bridge

Jiehu Bridge is located between Kunming Lake and Houhu Lake, hence the name. Liu Bridge was once called during the Qing Dynasty. It was burned down by the Anglo-French coalition forces in 1860, and later changed to its current name when the Summer Palace was rebuilt. The bridge is a three-hole stone bridge running north-south. There are bridge pavilions with double eaves and spires on the bridge. They stand tall and graceful from afar, but there is no pavilion now.

Jingming Building

Jingming Tower is located on the west embankment between Lianqiao and Liuqiao. It was built in the 18th year of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. It faces west and east. It has a two-story building with three main buildings and four surrounding buildings. There are three auxiliary buildings in the north and south, five halls in the hall, five halls in the hall, two square pavilions, and 66 verandas. The shape of the building is derived from the "Lotus Pavilion Sharing the Cool" painted by Zhao Meng (Fu) in the Yuan Dynasty. The name of the building comes from the artistic conception of the words "Spring and Bright Scenery" by Fan Zhongyan's "Yueyang Tower":"The sky is as calm as spring and the scenery are clear, and the sky is bright and the sky is bright." It is an important building on Kunming Lake.

Xidi Poetry

Jingming Tower--Qing Dynasty·Hongli Qianlong

The embankment is built back to the Ming Lake, where spring peace and elegance are similar. Tinglan bank is sunny and warm, and green willows and red peaches are soft in the wind.

The cloth mat only wonders if sitting in the sky, but what's the difference between looking at the window and swimming in the mirror? () The ducks and geese have broad smoke waves, so they don't have to be alone in the wild gull.

West embankment--Qianlong Dynasty, Qing Dynasty

The west embankment is the east embankment on this day, and its name has never been confirmed ①The lake shines thousands of green, and the shadows on the walls are lined up.

Labo's business is new, and he rides on the waves and forgets the opportunity to start a wild business. The abandoned land is cherished between the embankments and the walls, guiding the planting of rice to see the continuous ridges.

① Original poem note: The West Embankment is outside the west wall of Changchun Garden, facing Wei Garden. Now Kunming Lake is outside the embankment, and a embankment is set in the west, so this is the east.

Crossing the Willow Bridge to See Lotus Flowers--Qianlong Dynasty in the Qing Dynasty

The Liuqiao borders the east and west of the water, shallow in the west and deep in the east, making it uneven. Shallow is suitable for lotus flowers to be blooming, crossing a bridge is like entering deep clouds.

The fragrance seems to be true and clear, but the color is not evil, and the sky is lonely. When you see what you can determine with your eyes and nose, you can use your words to recall it.

Spring light enters Yintang in June, and the boat passes by flowers to support it. The egret flew up in surprise, still full of fragrance in the air.

Mirror Bridge--Qianlong Dynasty of Qing Dynasty

After swimming for a long time, I sing clearly, and my feet move forward to look at my heart.

When we return to the boat at Wanzhuan Mirror Bridge, anyone will be surprised to think it is Shanyin.

Jade Belt Bridge--Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty

Although the Changdi is not surnamed Yansu, the jade belt is still like a bridge.

When he came over, he suddenly burst into laughter, laughing and learning from West Lake.

Jiehu Bridge--Qianlong Dynasty in the Qing Dynasty

There are light boats on the bank of Shuizhou Hall, so that you can board the boat and enjoy yourself in the pool.

It not only takes leisure to draw scenery, but also makes up for chanting Gu ① because of the afterlife.

The length of the embankment spans the east and west boundary, and the six heads of the bridge are divided into inner and outer lakes ②.

However, farming and mulberry is a top priority, so we first read good pictures from farming and weaving.

① Original poem note: It is the chief embankment that divides the inner and outer lakes and sings it to many topics. However, there has never been a poem on the Boundary Lake Bridge. This year's rainy season, if you travel here, it is quite exciting, and occasionally you can pick up a grain to make up for the chanting.② Original poem note: Shiqiao is the first of the six bridges on Kunming Lake.
