Spring Festival Tour to the Summer Palace (202102017)
On February 17, 2021, at 12:50, we set off from Huilongguan in Changping, Beijing and drove to the Summer Palace. Today is the last day of the Spring Festival holiday and the last day when the highway is free. There are not many vehicles on the highway.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic this year, many migrant workers are celebrating the New Year in Beijing. In order to allow migrant workers to celebrate the Spring Festival in Beijing, the Beijing government has introduced that all parks under Beijing's jurisdiction will be open to tourists free of charge during the Spring Festival. Municipal parks include: Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven Park, Beihai Park, Zhongshan Park, Jingshan Park, Xiangshan Park, Beijing Zoo Park, Beijing City Botanical Garden, Taoranting Park, Zizhuyuan Park, and Yuyuantan Park.
When visiting the park during the Spring Festival, you need to make an appointment in advance. You cannot enter the park without an appointment. You also need to show your health code when you enter the park.
The Summer Palace is a royal garden during the Qing Dynasty in China. It is located in the western suburbs of Beijing and is a 5A-level national scenic spot. The Summer Palace is based on Kunming Lake and Wanshou Mountain, and based on Hangzhou West Lake. It is a large-scale landscape garden built based on the design techniques of Jiangnan gardens. It is also the most completely preserved royal palace and royal garden. It is known as the "Royal Garden Museum"
We entered the Summer Palace from the North Palace Gate of the Summer Palace.

After entering the park, we traveled north along Kunming Lake, passed through the stone bridge and Jiehu Bridge, and arrived at the opposite bank of Kunming Lake. After taking a few photos, we came back again, from the North Palace Gate to the East Palace Gate, and along Kunming Lake. Go east. The main attractions of the Summer Palace are on this road.

Because of my poor legs, I had to climb a mountain to go to Foxiang Pavilion, so I didn't go up

Several feelings:
1. Although the Summer Palace Park is open for free during the Spring Festival, all scenic spots that usually pay for fees are not open.
2. It is not recommended to visit the Summer Palace in winter. It is not as beautiful as the flowers blooming and willows in summer.
3. This is my third time to visit the Summer Palace. The first time was in February 1985. I went to Beijing on business from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. At that time, the ticket was 10 cents, and there were basically no fee-paying attractions. The second time was on New Year's Day in 2015. It was just a simple walk and the weather was relatively cold.
4. You can take a cruise ship to visit the Summer Palace in summer.
5. I am: People over 60 years old can visit the Summer Palace for free whenever they visit it.
6. There are still relatively few tourists in winter.
7. It is recommended to visit the Summer Palace for 4- 5 hours.
