As a national-level professional Kunqu Opera performance troupe, the Northern Kunqu Opera Theater shoulders the important responsibility of promoting the inheritance and development of Kunqu Opera and promoting excellent traditional culture. With the continuous deepening of the protection of intangible cultural heritage, it is urgent to deeply explore the traditional plays of existing teachers.

In order to continue to cultivate young talents and promote the living inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, since 2018, the Northern Kunqu Opera Theater, with funding from the Beijing Culture and Art Fund, has planned and implemented the "Rongqing School Kunqu Opera Performance Talent Training" project. The project is based in the north, radiating to performing artists across the country, urging them to teach. Many traditional zhezi operas that are on the verge of being lost have reappeared on the Kunqu opera stage through excavation, sorting and inheritance, in order to inherit the art of Kunqu opera, promote traditional culture, and create a inheritance paradigm that contributes to the present and benefits the future.

In the teaching work of inheritance, families are subdivided according to the four professions of birth, pure ugliness. Based on the urgency of inheritance, some of the weak professions are given a little emphasis. At present, the "Rongqing School" project has completed the inheritance of 160 traditional zhezi operas, restoring them to the Kunqu opera stage with original flavor, quality and quantity. This issue of "Rongqing School" will continue to complete the inheritance of 40 Zhezi operas, further expand the stock of traditional Zhezi operas, inherit the incense of Kunqu Opera, and regain the essence of tradition.
