Today, when the world is facing major changes unseen in a century, the international situation is complex and unpredictable. In particular, the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic has brought the most serious disaster to the world. The impact and destruction it has caused and the losses it has caused to the world are incalculable.[Author:Zhong Fumin; Source: Tongshi Think Tank; Editor: Zhang Xiaoqing]
I originally thought that the COVID-19 virus, which has been wreaking havoc on the earth for nearly three years, was already at the end of its strength and should be stopped. Unexpectedly, at the beginning of this year, it made a comeback, affecting Yanjiao in Langfang, Hebei Province, which is close to Beijing's Urban area.
Unfortunately, I was trapped at my home in Yanjiao.
Yanjiao is located in Sanhe City, Hebei Province. To the east of Tongzhou District in Beijing, there is only a Chaobai River separated from the two. It is the place closest to the center of Beijing City in Hebei Province.
On March 9, the epidemic prevention and control alarm sounded in Langfang City, Hebei Province. The city that governs Yanjiao reported 2 confirmed cases and 1 asymptomatic infection for the first time. People's nervous nerves have since tightened.
Four days later, the epidemic broke out in my community. There were no fewer city closures, isolation, lockdowns, and controls that followed, and all of them caught up.
With waves of epidemics, the common people seem a little agitated and uneasy, and my small family is also facing risks. My son's elementary school was suspended, and my wife and I were unable to go to work normally, and our life and work plans were completely disrupted.
Faced with all the difficulties that the epidemic may bring, the first thing I think of and should do is to bring an optimistic and healthy positive attitude to my family, friends and my team. Then think carefully, what should I do if people can't get out or enter?
With the outbreak of the epidemic, community work is faced with heavy and arduous work in fighting the epidemic. With few manpower and heavy tasks, volunteer support is urgently needed. It is my long-standing wish to be a volunteer when the country and society need it. So, with the understanding and support of his family, he signed up as soon as possible. To participate in community anti-epidemic volunteers, they need to go through interviews and screening before they can take up their posts.
The interviewer asked: "As a volunteer, without any subsidies or remuneration, are you willing to do it?
"I would. Regardless of remuneration, do my best."
He asked again: "Volunteers should be on call. Are you mentally prepared? Have you made arrangements at home?"
I blurted out: "No problem, my wife is very supportive. She can't go back to work in Beijing, so she just cooks at home and looks after the children."
He also asked: "To be a volunteer, you must obey arrangements, or help medical staff maintain order, or help others, especially the elderly..."
"I'm here to find a job. Listen to all orders!"
Immediately afterwards, the interviewer made a request: "You cannot use your volunteer identity to enter and exit the community, and you cannot do anything special..."
I stated my position: "Obey discipline, do not engage in special activities, and do not seek personal gain."
The interviewer listened to my answer without hesitation. Seeing that I was serious and determined, he nodded and agreed with satisfaction. From this day on, I worked hard and worked as an anti-epidemic volunteer for 88 days without interruption. It was not until the epidemic ended in my community that I returned to work in Beijing.
Anti-epidemic volunteer (first author from the right)
In our community, about a dozen people have joined the anti-epidemic volunteer team. The team includes teachers, doctors, lawyers, accountants, college students, business owners, restaurant owners, individual industrial and commercial households, etc. When I met each other from time to time, I wore masks and couldn't see their faces clearly, but everyone greeted each other with gestures to encourage and cheer them up.
There are 10220 households in my community. After receiving an urgent notice, starting from 5 a.m. on March 14, the community will be closed and all staff will have nucleic acid.
The early spring morning is very cool, and there is a hint of tension in the air. Get up at 6 o'clock in the morning, eat something casually, and rush out to the nucleic acid point. The doctor was in place on time, and the residents had formed two long lines.
On the first day of work, I shouted the concise phrase that I had already memorized: "Please line up, keep a distance of one meter, open WeChat in advance to scan, fill in basic personal information, and generate a QR code..."
Due to the initial implementation of QR code scanning, some older elderly people were unable to adapt to it and could not operate it. Their children were not around after the city was closed, and they became monks for a while-confused and urgently needed help to solve difficulties.
An old aunt shouted at me with a mobile phone in one hand and an ID card in the other: "Comrade, I don't know how to do it, I can't fill in the information. Can you help me?"
I quickly said,"Okay, don't worry, give me your phone and I will help you." What building and units do you live in? What's your mobile phone number? Where is the registered residence? The detailed address is...", I moved quickly, filled in the information, checked it, generated her exclusive nucleic acid QR code, and helped her save the screenshot. Next time, I can find it directly from the gallery and use it.
After that, he enthusiastically led her to the doctor and scanned the code to complete the nucleic acid. The old aunt cupped her hands and said: "This comrade is so nice. Thank you!" Then she asked me,"Will you be here tomorrow?" Time and time again, time and time after time of thanks, let me realize the happiness that helping others brings to me.
Every day, I face some confusing conflicts that must be resolved immediately. I regard it as a required course to improve my working ability and self-cultivation.
During nucleic acid screening in the community, an old man lined up to the doctor. His mobile phone was not working well. The female doctor asked him to wait next to him for a while, but he suddenly became furious and started scolding people. I hurriedly ran over and said,"Old man, I understand you very much. The epidemic is a terrible thing, making everyone uneasy. You see, the country is also doing free nucleic acid for the health of the people. It's a good thing. Don't worry and get better." The old man said angrily: "Why should she tell me to wait aside?" I quickly took over the words and persuaded him: "Just wait for me to help you! It's not easy for you to see a doctor. Understand each other, and everyone is of one mind to let this epidemic end as soon as possible." The old man's emotions also quickly eased.
The community was notified to be closed for three days, and nucleic acid was done once a day. However, I didn't expect to be entangled by the epidemic, and the community sent a letter for 20 days. After that, it was closed for more than 50 days in a row, and the workload of volunteers also suddenly increased. From the beginning to maintain order and provide help, to later, after simple training, he also joined the nucleic acid testing team. I cooperated with the doctor, I was responsible for scanning the code, and the doctor collected samples for nasopharyngeal swabs.
One night at 11 o'clock in the evening, I received a notice that nearly 900 households in the north and south districts had close, sub-close, and sub-close connections. They were in quarantine at home and needed to provide nucleic acid door-to-door services. I am used to "tasks are orders".
Every day, I repeat getting up at 6 o'clock, simply cleaning up, eating something, and arriving at the nucleic acid point on time. At this time, snow was still floating outdoors, and the temporary tents were not able to block the biting cold wind. Put on protective clothing, shoe covers, masks, masks, and gloves. After strict protection, he started with a thick list and a doctor.
When we entered each building, we did it layer by layer, following the procedures, with a gentle attitude, clarifying our identities, explaining the explanations, and checking them one by one. First nasal swabs, then throat swabs, and there must be no fewer people involved in close isolation. There are more than 400 households a day, but there is no time to drink water and no urine all day. Although the weather was cold, the sweat had long soaked through the clothes due to the intense and intense struggle.
In the beginning, our volunteer work ended until 3 p.m., but later, things were extended until 7 or 8 p.m. before we could leave. When I returned home, I was physically and mentally exhausted, I didn't want to eat, and I couldn't be bothered to speak. However, seeing the simple meal prepared by my wife at the table and the children still holding textbooks and waiting for dinner together, I immediately perked up, asked the children about their studies, and chatted with my wife for a few words. Seeing that I was so tired, my wife joked and turned her heart-warming words into poems: "Good things are done, and every bit is feelings. As long as you are willing to stick to it, I will do more homework at home." It's really a kind saying that warms winter. The support, understanding and care from family members during the epidemic are like the warmth of the spring breeze. This makes me love life more and cherish my harmonious little family.
When I was a volunteer, many acquaintances and business customers called me and asked in confusion,"You risked the risk of infection, worked all day long, bitter, dirty and tired, and didn't have a penny. You have time to read books to recharge your batteries, raise your children, what is wrong to do?" Why are you a volunteer? There was no lack of humorously telling me to "learn from you", why?
Good question, what is it? For what?
To put it simply, for others and for yourself; to put it simply, we should do our part for society and do our part for the country to end the epidemic as soon as possible.
For most people in China, voluntary behavior and awareness of participating in public welfare undertakings have been awakened on a large scale. The name volunteer has frequently appeared in the public's vision. It should be said that it began in 2008.
That year, two major events occurred in China that shocked the world: the world-renowned Beijing Olympics and the Wenchuan earthquake. Many Chinese people spontaneously or responded to the government's call and consciously participated in rescue and service operations. The subsequent Shanghai World Expo and Guangzhou Asian Games benefited from this willingness to volunteer and the gathering of huge power.
At present, China's volunteer service projects cover many fields such as emergency rescue, community services, poverty alleviation, ecological and environmental protection, caring for the children of migrant workers, and overseas services.
The social anti-epidemic volunteer service I participated in this time is not only a process of in-depth understanding of volunteers, but also a practice and experience that I have the chance to participate in and gain personal experience.
During the 88-day fight against the epidemic, what I can answer and share with my friends is that during the days and nights I have been a volunteer, I have abided by my duties as a volunteer and achieved the premise of not seeking any material, monetary or related benefits. Under the premise of not seeking any return on material, monetary or related benefits, I have proactively solved others 'problems, helped social and community fight the epidemic, and served people's health. I have benefited a lot and gained a lot.
I feel that participating in volunteer activities, doing public welfare work, helping others solve difficulties, serving society, spreading civilization and warmth demonstrate the value of individuals to society and others, make society more harmonious and civilized, and make life more happy and beautiful; Participating in social welfare activities makes people yearn for truth, goodness and beauty, positive energy and a sense of justice. It is beneficial to physical and mental health, helps improve self-cultivation, empowers and wisdom, and can gain a sense of accomplishment and happiness from the friendships you make and helping others; Participating in volunteer activities can learn a lot of knowledge beyond your profession, which complement each other and is of great benefit to personal progress and development. It can enrich life, trigger thinking about life and understanding of life, and make your thoughts more pleasant and your spirit stronger.
People often say that love in the present and live in the present. And my 88-day experience as an anti-epidemic volunteer made me deeply realize,"It's only shallow on paper. If you want to know this, you have to do it yourself." Only by hard work can we explore the truth and gain enlightenment.
Because true enlightenment and enlightenment are not temporary excitement, a little touch, or a temporary impulse, but must be truly moved, deeply moved, and key actions.
Send warmth often and everyone will shine brightly; give more help and the world will be safe.[Author:Zhong Fumin; Source: Tongshi Think Tank; Editor: Zhang Xiaoqing]
The only volunteer who works wholeheartedly is the obsession of my life, the scenery of my life, and the street lamp of my life...
