It is rare for this year's Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday to have an eight-day holiday. I suddenly wanted to visit the capital Beijing. The children kept talking about seeing Tiananmen Square. The two families made up their minds and left as they wished. They started to make strategies more than half a month in advance, booked tickets, booked hotels, and rented cars, and finally confirmed the entire itinerary. Check the weather forecast, pack enough clothes (which turns out to be too short), and get ready to go.

DAY1: October 3

The flight leaves for Beijing at 7:45 a.m. and arrives at Beijing Daxing Airport around 11 a.m. Carry trip in advance to book a car and pick up the plane to the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Wangfujing. After check-in, you can have lunch at the hotel's Chinese restaurant "Chang 'an No. 1" and taste the roast duck. The hotel I booked used a group purchase package from Ctrip. The room price of 1188 yuan includes a dining voucher of 500 yuan. It is suitable for Chinese restaurants, lobby bars, rooms, mini bars, etc. It is very cost-effective. We used this coupon for lunch. "Chang 'an One" is a Michelin recommended restaurant, and the price is also quite good. The tea table costs 90 yuan per person. The roast duck tastes not bad. It's freshly baked. The other dishes are only average. I really don't think it's special, so it's salty. Also, there were very few restaurants and we had to wait for half an hour to get a place. We will leave for Gong Wang Fu around 3 o'clock after dinner. The taxi cost about 15 yuan. Tickets are purchased on the public account in advance. Tickets for that day have already been sold out, so we can directly swipe our ID card to enter. We can rent an interpreter, but the garden is quite big. We walked around roughly and came out around 5:30. Then we walked along Beihai Park (closed), Yandai Xiejie, and Shichahai. After passing the Bell Tower and Drum Tower, we couldn't walk anymore, so we found an alley door frame that didn't have to queue up to cook and eat. The taste was pretty good. After eating, I continued to stroll along Nanluogu Lane. It was a very commercial snack street with nothing special. Then take a taxi back to the hotel.

DAY2: October 4th

I got up at 4:30 to watch the flag-raising ceremony. The men took their children to see it, and the women continued to sleep if they couldn't get up (the temperature dropped in Beijing today, so I put on thin down). Return to the hotel for breakfast at 8:30 and go out to visit the Forbidden City at 10:00. Due to traffic restrictions in the Forbidden City, I only reserved tickets for the afternoon show (admission at 12 o'clock). At this time, you can almost enter the venue by visiting the security check. It turns out that the reservation time is not checked at all. Due to the current restriction, there were not many people at the Forbidden City security check, so we quickly went in and visited. It was not until 5 o'clock that we could roughly finish shopping. Remember to rent an interpreter, and the explanation will be automatically played at every point. I originally planned to go to Jingshan Park when I came out of the Forbidden City, but we couldn't enter without booking tickets in advance. Moreover, everyone was too tired to walk, so we went straight to dinner and Beihai Shabu (Art Museum Store). Because we arrived early, there was also a private room, and by the time we came out, there was already a lot of people lined up. At this time, the people from the car rental company had already delivered the car we rented to the restaurant door, which was good. We could drive by car for the next 3 days.

Most of the places to eat or sell snacks in the Forbidden City are north on both sides of the central axis. East Line: The closest place to the Meridian Gate should be near Donghua Gate. There are Ministores on the right side of the Meridian Gate and across the doorway. Sell some simple drinks, water, ice cream, roasted sausage and the like. There is a Forbidden City restaurant near Jianting in the north, which sells simple meal sets, fried noodles, coffee, etc. The price is slightly higher than outside, but there is a serious queue at the meal. There is also a luckin coffee to the east of Jianting. There will be hot drinks and snacks, but you can only order online. Snacks cannot be heated. It is best to place an order on your mobile phone in advance and wait for a text message notification to pick them up. The taste is average, but you can get a free cup of coffee or drink for the first time, and there are often discounts on the hour, so it's okay. There is a small shop selling sandwiches, roasted sausages, etc. on the left side of the entrance to the Treasure Hall. There is an ice cellar restaurant near Cining Garden on the western line where you can order food, and the ice cellar cafe next to it can buy drinks, coffee, cakes, and sandwiches. There are seats inside and you can eat in the hall. The price is slightly higher than that outside the attractions, but the overall situation is good and acceptable.

DAY3: October 5

Check-out after breakfast at 9:00, depart for the Summer Palace at 10:30, and arrive at the Summer Palace at 11:30 (the time calculation was wrong, and the scenic spots on holidays were blocked all over, which wasted a lot of time). There were many people in the Summer Palace. After walking for a short while, they came out and headed straight to the Badaling Great Wall (considering the traffic jam on the road and other factors, I ignored it for lunch). The Beijing-Tibet Expressway was about to reach the Badaling Great Wall, but it was still good, about half an hour. Arrive at Badaling Great Wall at 3:30. Take a shuttle bus from the parking lot directly to the entrance of the cableway. Mainly considering everyone's condition and children, it may be difficult to climb up the entire journey. The cableway was indeed very fast. In less than 2 minutes, we took us to the north 8th floor. When we came out, we saw a crowd of people in Wudi. Only then did we feel the huge number of people traveling during the long holiday. Follow the crowd and walk forward. The steps are really high. Children sometimes have to use their hands and feet to get up. The narrow intersections have to be blocked and pass slowly. In this way, at about 5:30, we arrived at the foot of the Great Wall. If you have enough time and strength, it is still recommended to hike to the Great Wall. It is not as difficult as you think. I came down to wait for the shuttle bus, but there was a traffic jam. It was already 7:30 when I got the bus from the parking lot. I called Badaling Chadaofu B & B where I stayed tonight, and found a small battery car to take us into Badaling Ancient Town. Vehicles cannot enter the town and must be parked in the parking lot outside. The entire town is basically a B & B, which is very quiet. Dinner is eaten at a B & B. There are both Sichuan cuisine and Beijing cuisine. The taste is okay, the price is high, and you can eat whatever you want.

DAY4: October 6

In the morning, we have breakfast at the hotel, check out at 10 o'clock and depart for Chongli Taiwu Town (the venue of the 2022 Winter Olympics). The journey is about one and a half hours. The road was smooth and there were not many cars. Arrive at Taiwu Town Taiwu Hotel at 11:30. Construction is happening everywhere around the town, Olympic villages and sports venues. The road conditions are average but do not affect the entry and exit of vehicles. The city railway has been opened, and there are shuttle buses to pick up and drop off the town. When checking in, the hotel comes with many package packages, movie tickets, lift tickets, go-kart, golf, archery and other play facilities, suitable for children to play. For lunch, we ate pizza, pasta and hamburger at the craft factory next to the town service center. The taste was good. In the afternoon, I took the cable car up the mountain (ski slopes in winter), took photos and checked in. The grass is yellow in the current season, not as beautiful as the green ones in summer, and it has a unique style. The night of Taiwu was really cold, so dinner was decided on Chengdu Spicy Hotpot (Sanchuan).

DAY5: October 7

Get up at 8:30 for hotel breakfast, check out at 10:00 and depart for Grassland Sky Road (Huapiling Entrance, East Line).

The hotel navigated to Huapiling National Highway No. 1 and drove for about an hour and a half. A wreath was bought for the co-driver at the entrance, as well as a windmill as props for taking photos. You must fill up your tank before entering the grassland Tianlu. It is about 120 kilometers away. There are no gas stations and the scenery on the road is beautiful. But drive carefully. There are not many public toilets on the way, so please don't drink so much water. There will be no place to use the bathroom. There are many windmills that generate electricity along the way.

The scenery on the grassland is really beautiful. It should be even more beautiful in a few days later. Many leaves are slowly turning red. Be safe when taking photos on the road, and try not to take photos in the middle of the road.

I returned to Beijing at 3:30 p.m. and encountered traffic jams again. I arrived at the Aduo Hotel at Beijing South Railway Station at about 9 o'clock. It was wise to stay in Ado on our last night and gave us a late check-out at 4 o'clock the next day so we didn't have to rush to pack our bags. Dinner was served at the food stall below the hotel. The car rental company sends people to pick up the car on time, which is very convenient.

On October 8, I got up at 8 o'clock and left for Tiananmen Square at 9 o'clock. I made an appointment to visit the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall today. Similarly, security checks and ID cards entered the venue. After observing the chairman's body from a distance, they came out. The whole process took only a few minutes. There are still many tourists in Tiananmen Square, taking photos and checking in, and then looking for a place to have lunch. It is said to be Jixiang Building, one of the eight buildings in Beijing, with average taste and average service. After dinner, I will go back to the hotel to pack my luggage and check out at 2:30. The Ctrip special bus has arrived at the hotel and taken us to the airport.

The entire six-day trip was very tight, and there were still some attractions I wanted to visit that I couldn't reach. The main reason was that there were too many people dragging it and children couldn't walk. Make some regrets and play next time.
