Daxiangguo Temple, formerly known as Jianguo Temple, is located in the western section of Ziyou Road, Kaifeng City, Henan Province. It is a famous Buddhist temple in China. It was built in the sixth year of Tianbao (555) of the Northern Qi Dynasty. In the first year of Yanhe in the Tang Dynasty (712), Emperor Ruizong of the Tang Dynasty named Daxiangguo Temple in commemoration of his ascent to the throne as King Xiang. During the Northern Song Dynasty, Xiangguo Temple was deeply respected by the royal family and expanded many times. It was the largest temple in the capital and the center of Buddhist activities in the country. It was later damaged by war and floods. It was rebuilt in the tenth year of Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1671).
