On September 6, the People's Government of Hunan Province held a press conference, which announced that the 2021 Hunan Province Flower and Nursery Stock Expo will be grandly held in the Shiyan Lake Scenic Area of Changsha City from October 15 to 17, 2021. The 70,000-square-meter exhibition area will present a grand gathering of flowers and trees with shady trees, flowers blooming, and mountains and rivers.

The theme of the 2021 Hunan Province Flower and Wood Expo is "Praising the Centenary of the Founding of the Party and Building a Beautiful Hunan". It combines the integrated development of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan and the construction of Green Heart Central Park, and sets up the sub-theme of the Expo of "Green Angling Hearts and Rain Mothers Flowers Blooming". With the layout of "one heart, two corridors, and twelve rhythms", it is divided into indoor exhibition areas, outdoor exhibition areas and flower and seedling base exhibition areas. Among them, the indoor exhibition area is 15,000 square meters, including the provincial comprehensive exhibition area, the science and technology and creativity exhibition area, the orchid exhibition area, the image exhibition area of each city and state, and the enterprise exhibition area. The outdoor exhibition area is about 15,000 square meters, including the image exhibition area of 6 counties and cities in Changsha and the theme micro-landscape display area. The flower and seedling base exhibition area is about 40,000 square meters, including the pearl red, meat and other thematic flower and seedling bases along the two sides of the Shiya Highway along the entrance channel.

The main activities of the exhibition include the opening ceremony tour, the flower and nursery stock industry development forum, the summary and commendation conference, etc. During the exhibition, popular activities such as floral performances, flower arrangement competitions, and water scene performances will be held. At the same time, the results of the selection of the Outstanding Contribution Award for the Hunan Province Flower and Wood Industry and the top ten emerging figures in Hunan's Flower and Wood Industry will also be released.

Flowers and trees have been cultivated and bred as cash crops in Hunan for more than 300 years. In 2020, the province's planting area of flowers and trees was 1.6582 million acres, with annual sales of 13.995 billion yuan, driving engineering, food, medicine, tourism, leisure, health care, etc. to achieve an annual comprehensive output value of 60 billion yuan. The planting area, industrial scale and comprehensive strength rank among the top in the country.

The province currently has 77 leading flowers and trees enterprises and 266 flowers and trees markets, with about 410,000 employees and more than 8,000 professional and technical personnel. After years of development, Hunan's flower and tree industry has basically formed three major industrial belts. First, the "Hundred Miles Flowers and Flowers Corridor" industrial belt with Changsha County, Liuyang City, Changsha Yuhua District, Zhuzhou Shifeng District, and Xiangtan Yuetang District as the core, with an area of flowers and trees planting reaching more than 500,000 acres. The second is the edible and medicinal flowers and trees industrial belt centered on Shaoyang, Huaihua, Hengyang and Xiangxi. The third is the suburban flower and tree industry belt developed around the Urban area of the province's cities (prefectures) with the theme of urban and rural greening, sightseeing and leisure.

Shiyan Lake Tourist Area, where the Flower Expo is held, is located in Vaulting Horse Town at the intersection of the three cities of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan. Vaulting Horse is the largest township in Changsha County and has now been included in Yuhua District. It is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Flowers and Flowers."

This year's Flower Expo aims to showcase new varieties, new technologies and new achievements in the province's flower and tree industry, create a demonstration platform for resource sharing and win-win cooperation, and explore new driving forces, new forms, new ideas and new models for the development of the flower and tree industry.
