There are four famous mountains in Chinese Buddhism: Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui Province, Wutai Mountain in Shanxi Province, Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang Province, and Emei Mountain in Sichuan Province. They are the ashram of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Manjusri Bodhisattva, Guanyin Bodhisattva, and Samantabha Bodhisattva respectively. Mount Emei where we visited today is the ashram of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.
1. Introduction
Mount Emei is a mysterious sacred place for Buddhist rites. Mount Emei is located near the mysterious 30° north latitude and occupies the southwest of Sichuan Province. Since ancient times, it has been known as "the sages are the eldest son of Buddha, the Emei is the leader of the mountain." Mount Emei is extremely rich in natural heritage and is known as the natural "Plant Kingdom","Animal Paradise" and "Geological Museum". The cultural heritage is extremely profound. It is a sacred place for Chinese Buddhism, known as the "Buddha's Paradise", and the ashram of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. With its "majestic, beautiful, divine, strange and spiritual" natural landscape and profound Buddhist culture, it has been included in the "World Cultural and Natural Heritage List" by UNESCO.
Mount Emei, known as the "Buddhist Paradise", is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains, Samantabha Bodhisattva Dojo, covering an area of 154 square kilometers. It mainly consists of four peaks: Da 'e Mountain, Er' e Mountain, San 'e Mountain and Si' e Mountain. The highest peak is Wanfo Ding with an altitude of 3099 meters. The Emei Mountain Scenic Area that people usually refer to is just Da 'e Mountain.
The Emei Mountain Scenic Area is divided into three areas: low mountainous area, Zhongshan Area and high mountainous area. Below the Qingyingge is a low mountainous area, from the Qingyingge to the elephant washing pond is a Zhongshan Area, and above the elephant washing pond is a high mountain area. There are four official road entrances: Baoguo Temple, Wuxiangang, Wannian and Zero Kilometers. Among them, Baoguo Temple, Wuxiangang and Wannian are trails, and Zero Kilometers are lanes. Yingbin Square at the foot of the mountain is a tourist distribution center, including the passenger terminal, food street, Emei Cultural Center, etc.
2 Line analysis
There are three routes to choose from to climb the Golden Top of Mount Emei. The first route is from Baoguo Temple into the mountain, and then to Qingyin Pavilion, take Turn 99, which is the southern route, pass through the Elephant Washing Pond and then climb the Golden Top; the second route is from Baoguo Temple, go to Qingyin Pavilion, and then take Huayanding, which is the northern route, and finally pass through the Elephant Washing Pond to climb the Golden Top. The third route takes a car directly to Leidongping. After climbing Jinding, you can choose to walk the 99 turn down the mountain.
Considering the many steps, in order to save physical fitness and time going up the mountain, those taking the 99-lane route can take an environmentally friendly bus from the passenger transportation center to Wuxiangang and directly to Qingyin Pavilion; while those taking the Huayanding route can take an environmentally friendly bus directly to Wannian Station, and then directly to Huayanding from Wannian Temple.
From the perspective of exciting attractions, the 99-lane turn is better; from the perspective of labor-saving, Hua Yanding is better. The Huayanding line is short and the steps are relatively slow, while the 99-lane turn line is long and there are many steps.
Each person chooses a hiking route based on their own interests and physical fitness. However, from the perspective of returning to the Baoguo Temple Passenger Transport Center to catch a bus, it is most reasonable for Hua Yan to take the lead at the 99th junction. This guide itinerary is to enter Baoguo Temple, turn on Route 99, and go down the mountain to Huayanding. After arriving at Wannian Temple, take a sightseeing bus and arrive at Baoguo Temple Passenger Transport Center. If you don't catch the last shuttle back to Chengdu, you can also choose the high-speed rail line.
