The year 2020 is a special year for people all over the world because of "COVID-19". Starting from the Spring Festival in January, the popular slogan is "Lying at home is making contributions to the country", and everyone lives in seclusion. Fortunately, our country has timely control measures. After several months of panic and anxiety, the epidemic has finally been basically brought under control. Although the short golden season for tourism in spring is coming to an end, the annual travel plan cannot be put on hold. Taking advantage of the situation to improve, we should quickly pack our backpacks and go out. Unlike before, there is an additional piece of equipment - a mask, which is a must-have.
Chongqing, known as the foggy city, mountain city, and bridge city, has also been referred to as the "internet famous city" in recent years. Especially after the release of Hayao Miyazaki's film "Spirited Away", Hongya Cave has become even more well-known to the world. This trip to Chongqing is to witness its mystery
Let's walk around Chongqing with me now!
Day 1: Beyond Time Hotel - Jiangbei Delisa Church - Gospel Church - Science and Technology Museum - Grand Theater - Qiansimen Bridge - Hongyadong (Night)
I didn't expect the internet famous pedestrian bridge - Kuixing Tower pedestrian bridge, to be on the 22nd floor of the hotel I booked - "Beyond Time Hotel"
The room is pretty good. Although I didn't book a river view room, I can still see some river views from this room. On the other side is a residential building, and there are several floors of buildings behind it. This shows that the "Mountain City" is indeed worthy of its reputation.
After taking a short break in the room, we started our trip today. Chongqing was already very hot in May, but in July and August, it was well deserved to be called the "furnace". The attractions this afternoon are all very close, so we will first take a car to the church and then walk all the way there. Both churches are not open, only the appearance is shown. The science museum is very large, with five floors and six themed exhibition halls. However, it closes relatively early, at five o'clock. It is said that the night view of the Grand Theater is beautiful, so we had to wait slowly. Unexpectedly, it only turns dark at 8 o'clock in Chongqing. Fortunately, behind the Grand Theater is the river, and sitting on the steps to enjoy the river breeze is also very pleasant. The two ends of Qiansimen Bridge are the Grand Theater and Hongyadong, so the best photo effect is taken on the bridge. Finally seeing the true face of Hongya Cave, with dazzling lights, it is truly a dream. After taking the night view, I queued up and went inside the Red Cliff Cave for a stroll. There are 11 floors in total, but some floors are closed to offices and hotels. The ones that are open include some delicious food, souvenirs, and so on. Another magical feature of Hongya Cave is that it has two exits, one on the 1st floor of Jiabin Road and the other on the 11th floor of Cangbai Road. This is also the main feature of the mountainous city of Chongqing. The same goes for the hotel I stayed in, both the first and 22nd floors are on the road. After exiting from the first floor exit of Hongyadong, I enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the river and returned to the hotel in less than ten minutes, marking the end of my day's journey. Let's take a look below:
Day 2: Liziba Light Rail - Liziba Ruins Park - Erchang of Eling - Erling Park - Liangdaokou Crown Escalator - Bayi Tasty Street - Monument to the people's Liberation (daytime) - Yangtze River Cableway
Light rail passing through buildings, this is a popular check-in spot for internet celebrities. It's a must take photo when coming to Chongqing
I specifically experienced the light rail, which was taken from the position behind the driver at the front of the car
Two trains are so close, but almost no sound can be heard. No wonder they can pass through residential buildings
This tree looks too artistic, it must be photographed
Discovering a serene beauty, can you tell it's a selfie?
The distance between buildings is so narrow that even bicycles cannot be ridden
Today is a physically demanding day, with endless staircases and climbing section after section. This is truly a mountain city. Those with poor physical strength should not try walking, but rather take a car as much as possible
This flying pavilion is located on the mountaintop of Erling Park and was once the former residence of Chiang Kai shek and Soong Mei ling
This is the famous "Crown Escalator", which connects two intersections and Chongqing Railway Caiyuanba Station, one of Chongqing's characteristic transportation, with a ticket price of two yuan. With a length of 112 meters and a lifting height of 52.7 meters, it is the second longest first level elevated slope escalator in Asia, which is really impressive
The famous "Sister Pei Lao Hot Pot" has arrived in Chongqing, and even one person has to eat hot pot
Day 3: Baigongguan - Zhazidong - Ciqikou - Hotel - Longmen Haolao Street - A Tree in Nanshan
Bai Gongguan and Zhazidong were both prisons that persecuted the revolutionary capital at that time. Huang Xiansheng, Jiang Jie, Xiaoluobutou, and others were all imprisoned here
The little guy who grinds spices is actually a fake. You can't tell without looking closely
Longmen Hao Old Street is the best preserved and largest historical and cultural old street in the main urban area of Chongqing, with 18 historical and cultural relics buildings and characteristic snacks
A tree in Nanshan is the best place to take a night view of Chongqing
The fourth day: Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts (not open) - Graffiti Street - Jiaotong Teahouse (not open) - Huguang Guild Hall - Chaotianmen Square - Chongqing Historical Hall of Fame - Hongya Cave (day) - Monument to the people's Liberation (night) - Night Tour of the Two Rivers
Unfortunately, Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts is not open to the public during the epidemic, so we can only keep our doors open. However, this road is called "Graffiti Street" and it is also very distinctive
Not far along Graffiti Street, I saw the old tea house mentioned in someone else's guide, but unfortunately it didn't open
The Huguang Guild Hall is a representative of southern architectural art during the Ming and Qing dynasties in China, with exquisite relief and carving techniques
Chaotianmen is the starting point of the Two Rivers Night Cruise, with beautiful scenery. The high-end shopping mall "Raffles City" is located here, so there are many people during the day and night
The Hongya Cave during the day may not be as brightly lit as at night, but its structure can be clearly seen
The internet celebrity snack is good, and there's also sour and spicy powder, it's really good
The Monument to the people's Liberation business circle is very prosperous, with many high-rise buildings. There are both high-end shopping malls and convenient Bayi snack street
Above is the night view enjoyed while sitting on a cruise ship. Once again, it's a feast for the eyes. Even the cruise ship is so beautiful, it's simply high-end
Day 5: People's Great Hall - Three Gorges Museum - Guanyin Bridge Pedestrian Street
It has been raining since morning, so it is best to visit indoors. The People's Grand Hall and the Three Gorges Museum are face-to-face, and the Grand Hall is not open. The museum offers free admission by appointment.
Leaving the museum and taking the subway, I discovered that the building of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government was also located here
The rain has stopped, let's take a stroll around somewhere. Guanyin Bridge is also a commercial center with everything we can eat, drink, and have fun with. The variety of snacks in the snack street is particularly rich
Day 6: Kaixuan Road Elevator - Cultural Street Pedestrian Overpass - Baixiangju - Beicang Cultural and Creative Park - Airport
The Kaixuan Road elevator connecting Monument to the people's Liberation and Baixiang Street is the first urban passenger elevator in China
Does this doorway look like the one in Spirited Away? The stairs were covered in moss, giving a vague sense of time passing by
Every city is not just about high-rise buildings, beautiful scenery, and delicious food. Even the ordinary people at the bottom live the most ordinary and difficult lives. Unexpectedly, passing through this building, there are steps that lead to another road, which is the pedestrian overpass on Culture Street. It's really amazing
This is the "Willful" pedestrian bridge that connects the first and thirteenth floors of the cultural street. The great design architects have created so many miracles and conveniences for the people of this mountain city
I saw the introduction of Baixiangju online and decided to come here to climb the stairs. To be honest, this place can't be considered a scenic spot, it's just an internet famous attraction developed by some travel enthusiasts. Its characteristic is that this residential building has 24 floors but no elevator, but has three exits: the first floor leads to Changjiang Binjiang Road, the 10th floor leads to Baixiang Street, and the 15th floor leads to Jiefang East Road. This building was built in 1992 and is quite old. Most of the elderly people live here. Currently, there are no restrictions on entry and exit, and visitors can freely visit as long as they do not disturb the residents
Up to the 15th floor, there is the corridor that appeared in Chen Kun's movie "Hot Pot Hero", connecting buildings 1-6. This is also the best location to enjoy the river view, with a panoramic view of the bridge, the cloud wall of the Huguang Guild Hall, and the cable car crossing the river.
Two way staircase, very convenient
Finally reaching the 24th floor, there is a sense of pride
This was taken from the platform. There are a total of six buildings in Baixiangju, and even after climbing for half a day, it's hard to distinguish which one is which
As it was an evening flight, there was still time to pass the time, so I went to Beicang Cultural and Creative Park for a stroll. It was actually very small and there was nothing to see, except for the library which was pretty good with a great environment and plenty of books available for free. There were also tables and chairs provided. You can also order some food and drink, and it will quickly pass in a few hours
We're leaving for the airport. Finally, two cards are coming
This is the magical three-dimensional transportation in Chongqing. It is said that the most complex overpass is the Huangjuewan overpass, which is divided into 5 floors and connects more than 20 ramps. I passed by while taking the car and couldn't take photos. Let's search for aerial photos on Baidu. It's really shocking. It can be seen that Chongqing is not an exaggeration to be known as the "8D Magic City".
I thought six days was plenty of time, but it turned out to be very tight. During these six days, I wandered through the streets and alleys of Chongqing alone, which allowed me to learn more about the city. I originally planned to go to Wulong for a day, but I missed the good weather and it kept raining for the next few days, so I gave up. Is a small flaw in life? Leave some thoughts for yourself
