My best friend came to Chongqing to visit. It's rare for the weather to be sunny. Let's make an appointment to stroll along the mountain trails and see the real old Chongqing.

We took the bus to Qixinggang and got off at the Tongyuan Gate section of Chongqing Ancient City Wall. We stopped by to take a look at the ancient city wall.

The city gate is the first barrier guarding the city. The city gates of Chongqing are different from many other historical ancient cities, generally consisting of four gates in the southeast, northwest, and northwest. In ancient times, Chongqing was surrounded by water on three sides and mountains on one side. According to the survey of Feng Shui masters, the direction was determined based on the "Five Elements of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth", and the number was determined by the "Nine Palaces and Eight Trigrams". Seventeen city gates were completed, which are rare in history.

The eight closed city gates, located far from the river, are small-scale dry gates. The nine city gates near the river are water gates, with the water gate open and the dry gate closed, symbolizing the use of water to overcome fire and highlighting the people's beautiful wishes at that time. In ancient times, Chongqing had nearly eight kilometers of city walls and seventeen city gates surrounding the Yuzhong Peninsula. Currently, there are only a few remaining city walls and two relatively intact city gates: Tongyuanmen and Dongshimen. The Tongyuanmen section of the city wall is also the only well preserved city wall site in Chongqing.

Cross the Tongyuan Gate into Mati Street and continue down to the entrance of the Mountain City Trail.

Some friends walk in the opposite order to us, entering from the trail entrance and exiting from Tongyuanmen. In fact, both sides are possible.

Along the way, there are many old residential areas from the 1970s and newly built sculptures, exuding the flavor of old Chongqing.

Memory is like a long river, time is like a galloping horse.

I remember when I was a child, I always heard from my grandmother that our ancestors came to Chongqing when Hubei was filling Sichuan. At that time, I didn't understand, but now I realize that I still have very little knowledge about my mother city. So, it's time to have a heartfelt exchange with this city.

Stone paved roads, stilted buildings, and armed troops The scene in front of me feels like a bit of time travel for a moment.

Shancheng Lane, located in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, is the third mountain trail in Chongqing. From Nanjimen to Guanyinyan section, the mountain trail is worth visiting all year round.

This is a great place to visit ancient Chongqing and explore the streets of old Chongqing, as well as watch the sunset over the Yangtze River Coral Dam.

Shancheng Lane, formerly known as Tiandeng Lane, was built along the mountains, facing the Yangtze River, climbing up hills, and distributed in a stepped manner. It is a typical Chongqing mountain city style.

Seeing these vivid graffiti on the wall, many memories come to mind.

The third trail in the mountain city connects Shikumen, Tixintang, Ren'ai Hall, Hanging Observation Deck, First Water Plant Tower, Bodhi Diamond Tower, Anti Construction Hall, and Zhongshan Hospital. Strolling through it, one can appreciate the true charm and charm of old Chongqing.

Shancheng Lane is the only street in Chongqing named after "Shancheng", also known as the "Heavenly Street Market".

Stop at the Time Shop and enjoy a free cup of Lao Yin tea.

Sneak a few San He Hu Dou, taste a small jar of bean curd jelly served with sauce, climb the slope to the ridge, and experience the small life of Chongqing people.

There are many distinctive historical buildings in the trail area, among which "Houlu" is the official residence of Lan Wenbin, a subordinate of Sichuan warlord Liu Xiang during the Anti Japanese War. This old mansion has typical characteristics of Shanghai Shikumen architecture. Strolling along the mountain path, taking a closer look at old buildings such as Houlu, and listening to the stories of Chongqing's old city walls.

There is a section of the mountain city trail that is suspended on the cliff side, and the feeling of viewing from mid air is truly outstanding. As part of the third trail, the boardwalk connects the two ends of the trail, forming a complete third trail that connects historical and cultural relics such as the Anti Jiantang, Bodhi Diamond Pagoda, the former site of the French Renai Church, and Shancheng Lane.

Across from it is the rolling Yangtze River, and on the other side is the ancient city wall of Chongqing. Sunbathing in the warm winter sun, blowing the gentle river breeze, leisurely watching the sunset reflecting the red river surface

Strolling into Renai Hall, this is the predecessor of Chongqing First Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, a European style building - the former site of Renai Hall in France. Built in 1902, it had a church, hospital, priest's residence, and other facilities at that time. A part of the church is currently under maintenance, and only the front hall is open.

The current site of Renai Hall not only retains its former grandeur, but also features a fire helmet dating back to 1840, which is quite exquisite. France, Germany, the UK, and others all have copper, leather, iron... Each exhibit here is unique, showcasing the glorious and tumultuous process of fire helmets that span over a century, reflecting the power and temperament of firefighting, dignity and glory.

Chongqing has had multiple winding mountain trails since ancient times. Nowadays, the trails maintain and preserve the natural climbing style of the old mountain city, linking historical culture with modern landscapes, forming Chongqing's local characteristics and tourism brands - the most beautiful trails/beautiful river scenery/cliff sightseeing/century old streets, and also the sky city where many tourists come to visit.

The beauty and memories that belong to this city will be forever remembered by you and me.

Walking slowly along the mountain city trail, you can see two bridges at the same time. The nearby bridge is the Chongqing Yangtze River Bridge, and the one with a red arch bridge in the distance is the Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge. The Chongqing Yangtze River Bridge, also known as the Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge, is the first bridge over the Yangtze River in the main urban area of Chongqing. It was completed and opened to traffic in 1980. The double track bridge was officially completed and opened to traffic in 2006, with a distance of only 25 meters between the two bridges. Under the Yangtze River Bridge, there is a sandbar called Coral Dam, which is formed by the sedimentation of the Yangtze River channel. You may not imagine that during the Republic of China period, this Coral Dam was once an airport and the earliest civil aviation airport in Chongqing. Every summer during the flood season, the coral dam is submerged by the river dam. During the dry season, the coral dam is extensively exposed, and nearby residents enjoy playing and flying kites on the dam.

The observation deck offers a breathtaking view of the Yuzhong Peninsula, pleasing to the eye and refreshing. The sunset glow warms our hearts even more.

As night fell, we strolled to the Monument to the people's Liberation Food Street of the Splendid World to find something to eat.

My best friend ordered us to eat hotpot, so we found this hotpot restaurant located in the bustling food center - Shenjiahongcheng local hotpot. Unexpectedly, we stumbled upon this hotpot restaurant with "goods".

The restaurant decoration is red in color, which looks very festive and appetizing. The waiter was enthusiastic and proactive, we really came to the right place.

There are a lot of original unfashionable in front of the restaurant - Luotian local eggs, Nanchuan bamboo shoots, Wuxi colorful potatoes, Pengshui ecological bean sprouts, Wulong potato flour, Zhongxian black tofu, Chengkou old bacon, sausage, ribs. It is hard not to say that these local specialties around Chongqing can be eaten in one store at the same time.

Looking at these preserved meats, I feel like my mouth is watering

We ordered a slightly spicy butter red soup base with a bright color and pure taste.

The Chengkou preserved meat served in a bamboo basket is great for pairing with wine. If it's steamed and served, it's perfect for those who want the original flavor. If you like spicy food, you can also boil it in a pot.

Bacon, sausages, and pork ribs have always been the favorite dishes of Sichuan and Chongqing people, and they are also must eat delicacies during festivals and holidays. Unexpectedly, Shenjiahongcheng local hotpot really uses everyone's favorite "local products" to heat in the hotpot.

The unique aroma of preserved meat, combined with the rich spiciness of the red soup, makes these "local products" of preserved meat even more enjoyable.

How come we eat less tripe and goose intestines when eating hotpot?

Nine seconds of fresh tripe, big chunks of fresh, only scalded for nine seconds, "Bashi" is terrible!

Immediately ordered the second dish of tripe:)

Goose intestines are crispy, refreshing, and have a good appearance.

The freshly cut goose slices have a bright red color and are very crispy and tender when cooked over high heat for 2 minutes.

The raw materials for handmade shrimp slides are fresh, and the freshness of the shrimp and the smooth texture on the palate are commendable. Tofu and bamboo shoots are also tender and flavorful when cooked in the pot, with a great taste.

The store is filled with eggs, but it's their signature dish. What happens when local eggs encounter spicy hot pot? The result is a big surprise!

The waiter pours 3 farmhouse eggs into the corner of the Nine Palace Grid to cook. Remember not to stir and adjust the cooking time according to your preference, usually two minutes.

Directly from the breeding farm, the earth eggs transported at high speed ensure freshness and no loss. The waiter directly pours the eggs into the pot in front of you, and soon the boiled eggs soaked in red soup will float up. With a bite, the spicy flavor is rich, and the soft and delicate texture of the soft boiled eggs makes you feel extremely gentle, one spicy and one soft, surprising.

The freshness and spiciness of the hotpot soup base are infused with the original aroma of local eggs. Eating hotpot eggs for the first time gives a special feeling and adds a lot of fun to this hotpot meal. Later on, we tried putting scrambled eggs into beef and scalding it to eat, which was also very satisfying. If you don't believe me, give it a try:)

There are also free snacks such as miscellaneous sugar, fruit, tremella soup and egg Fried Rice. The slightly sweet pickled radish is very good for cooking.

After strolling along the mountain city trail and eating local hotpot, today was truly a fulfilling day!

The bold and unrestrained martial arts world, the literary and artistic pursuits of the petite bourgeoisie;

Local hotpot; The dazzling night sky

In Chongqing, there is always one that suits you!
