In cities like Chongqing,

Beauty is always visible everywhere.

At night,

Standing at WFC overlooking this city,

You will find the lights and night scenery in Chongqing truly irresistible.

This is a three-dimensional city,

It is also a tolerant and free city,

The terrain endows Chongqing with the most beautiful sense of hierarchy and scenery,

It also exposes the inclusiveness here.

A few years ago, a friend from Yichang took a cruise ship up the Yangtze River and arrived in Chongqing around 10 pm at night. After the cruise ship made a big turn in Liangtuo, the friend standing on the deck was stunned. From the pitch black night, a crystal palace like city was imprinted in front of his eyes: skyscrapers grew layer by layer in the mountains along the Jialing River and the Yangtze River, soaring into the sky; The bridges on the river and the overpasses on land crisscross and spiral upwards, creating a stunning yet unique scenery; The Chaotianmen Square at the confluence of the two rivers is dazzling, and under the clear contrast of the Yangtze River and Jialing River, it appears particularly magical.

layer upon layer of peaks and knolls,

Flowing light shines brightly.

This is Chongqing at night,

Why is it so beautiful that it's so intoxicating?

There is nothing more beautiful than truly immersing oneself in the texture of this city. Calvino said that the city will not reveal its past, but will only hide it like a hand print, written on the corners of streets and alleys, the guardrails of window frames, the handrails of stairs, the antennas for lightning protection, and flagpoles.

At night in Chongqing, every light is the poetry of the city.

1. Let's go, cross the Dongshuimen Bridge at night

The Dongshuimen Bridge, even in Chongqing, holds a special status. On this bridge, there are people leisurely strolling on the top, the subway passing quickly under their feet, and passenger ships flowing downstream from the port, three-dimensional and multi-dimensional.

Because the camera can capture 8D magical wonders, this place has now become another popular check-in spot for internet celebrities. The Huguang Guild Hall, with a history of three hundred years, has become a general term for exploring ancient architectural communities. During the day, there are more surprising displays and performances in the guild hall. At night, the walls and buildings of these old buildings outline the classical shapes of the night, with the surrounding old houses, creating a sense of time travel.

Apart from the Dongshuimen Bridge and Huguang Guild Hall, there are even more worth seeing in this area at night. One of the twelve scenic spots in Bayu, known as the "4A Scenic Area" during the Qianlong reign, is the "Bright Moon over Longmen".

Looking towards the south bank from Dongshimen Bridge, the opposite side is Longmen Hao. In Chongqing, 'Hao' does not refer to the vast water, but to the water bodies separated by rocks along the river.

In the water between Huguang Guild Hall and the opposite Nanshan Mountain, there is a long but not wide water area separated by a stone beam. During the dry season, the protruding stone beams on the river surface resemble a tilted swimming dragon. In the Southern Song Dynasty, people from Chongqing carved the characters Longmen on both the inside and outside of the protruding stone surface.

Taken at: South Bridge Head of Dongshuimen Bridge

During the flood season, the Yangtze River is turbulent and the stone beams sink into the water. Once the flood recedes and the Longmen stone beams are exposed, the waters inside Longmen Haonei will become distinct from those outside Haowai. The river water inside Longmen Haonei is particularly clear and peaceful. The Yangtze River, separated by a beam, remains turbulent and boundless. At night, the bright moon shines in the sky, and under the moonlight, the interior of Longmen Hao is bright and colorful, particularly moving.

There are two types of movements in a river area, the surging inside the stone beam and the quietness outside, forming a strong contrast. Looking at Longmen Hao under the moon, the tranquility is intoxicating and makes people suddenly understand the meaning of the harbor.

Viewing location: Bridgehead of Dongshuimen Bridge in Yuzhong District

scenic spot: Huguang Guild Hall, Longmen Haoyue

Time: The Huguang Guild Hall is closed at night, but the ancient architectural complex feels more immersive than during the day; Watching Longmen Haoyue does not require a ticket, and night is the correct time to truly see Longmen Haoyue.

2. Isn't it beautiful to be in Spirited Away Tower?

In fact, Hongya Cave has been built along the river for more than two thousand years. It made its debut in Chongqing in 2005 and did not cause such a big sensation today. After all, at that time, internet information was not as developed as it is now. For Chongqing people, after becoming an internet celebrity in the past two years, the whole network said Hongya Cave was a scene of Spirited Away. In fact, for Chongqing people, this is just an ordinary human fireworks.

This is the fireworks of the mountain city, this is the poetry of time.

It is known as the building most similar to the one in "Spirited Away", but it is the most local stilted building in Chongqing. It is complex and layered. When the night comes, its lights turn on in a flash, like layers of golden paint, like the dream of a long journey, passing through the anime space every minute.

More and more tourists are coming and going, and the shops in Hongyadong are closing later and later. Once only on the first and second floors, some shops were open until late at night. Until now, small shops on the fourth and fifth floors, as well as some cafes with a strong artistic atmosphere, can still be bustling with business until 22:00.

Photography/Forrest Gump

The two river cruise ships crossing the Yangtze River use Hongya Cave as an important photo and check-in point, but how can this pleasure be compared to truly being in the Hongya Cave scenic area? The layers of stairs are hidden by trees, and at night, the lights shine, making the green trees fluffy and bright green. Various small shops are bustling, selling Chongqing's unique snacks. The lights are bright, the soup and water are warm, and laughter lingers. There is also a more lively atmosphere of street fireworks than daytime.

When the vision extends back again, combining Hongya Cave with the high-rise buildings extending behind it, the stilted building and the skyscraper of Monument to the people's Liberation perfectly form an oil painting full of layers. Whether it is spectacular, three-dimensional, or the quality of the picture, Yuzhong's beauty is fully shown to the human eye.

Viewing location: On the Qiansimen Bridge

scenic spot: Hongyadong, Chongqing

Time: Hongyadong has different seasons and the time for turning on and off the lights varies. In summer, the lights are usually turned on at 8 pm and turned off at 1 am; In winter, the lights are turned on at 6pm in the evening and turned off around 11pm at night.

3. Across the river, there is night and time

Taking a boat tour of the two rivers at Chaotianmen can be considered a classic night tour of Chongqing. In the Qing Dynasty, this tourism project was called the Zi Shui Xiao Deng. Wang Erjian, the then Supervisor of the County of Baxian County, viewed from a high place, the current of the Yangtze River and Jialing River at the intersection of Chaotianmen, after several twists and turns, naturally formed the ancient seal character of "Ba", which refers to the area where the two rivers meet.

When the lanterns are lit up, the waves shine brightly, and the "Zi Shui Xiao Deng" is the cultural nickname for the night view of the two rivers in Chongqing.

Century Cruise Ship photo supply

The two river cruise ships enter the Jialing River from the intersection point, and along the river, they see the Chongqing Grand Theater and Spirited Away's real-life version of Hongya Cave, which often causes tourists to exclaim in surprise. Turning downwards and returning to the waters of Chaotianmen, continuing along the Yangtze River, Ciyun Temple is quiet and lonely in the darkness, and the Yangtze River cableway passes through the sky... Various advertisements are played repeatedly on the curtain wall of Raffles City, including "Hello Chongqing, Hello World" and "Traveling Thousands of Miles, To the Vast World", which are quite unique to Chongqing. At this moment, it is time to check in with a mobile phone.

There is no reason not to take a boat at night in Chongqing. The river breeze carries a subtle scent of soil and river water, making the texture of the river even more profound.

Century Cruise Ship photo supply

At the same time, the two rivers and four banks shine brilliantly, and the lights scatter gold and jade in the river. Sitting on a boat is another kind of beauty that looks across the river.

At this moment, every tourist sitting on the Liangjiang cruise ship, without drinking, was drunk in this unparalleled night.

Viewing location: Two Rivers Cruise

scenic spot: Chaotianmen Square, Chongqing Grand Theatre, Hongyadong, Ciyun Temple

Time: The shipping companies are different, and the departure time also varies, but generally it is from around 19:40 to 22:30, which is also the most beautiful time for Chongqing's night scenery.

4. The separation of emotions and feelings throughout China begins from here in Chongqing

There are some inherent thinking patterns of Chinese literati that are ingrained in cultural genes. It seems that seeing the falling Japanese yen in the long river must be full of boldness, and seeing the green willows immediately reminds me to bid farewell.

When it comes to the night rain in Bashan, everyone suddenly feels melancholy, with inexplicable feelings and longing lingering in their hearts. This emotion is almost entirely derived from a poem by Li Shangyin: 'Night rain sends north.'.

Why should we cut the candles in the west window together, but talk about the rain at night in Bashan. Where is Bashan exactly? Not the literal Daba Mountain.

On his way from Bazhou to Zizhou to take office, Li Shangyin stayed overnight at the Fotu Pass in Chongqing and wrote "Night Rain Sending North" to his wife who was far away in Chang'an, which made the entire literary history melancholic. To this day, in the Fotu Pass Park in Chongqing, there are still reliefs depicting the poet's night in a foreign land. The window is pitch black, only drenched in the night rain. The Fotu Pass is filled with autumn water and a silhouette of a lamp.

Over the years, the mountains and rivers have not changed, and the hiking in Fotu Pass has also remained unchanged. According to the current landmark, it is not far from the subway through the building. This is a small hill that runs along the river, with beautiful terrain. Every morning, you can see fog rising from the river surface.

Fotu Pass has many old buildings of a generation, which obscures the traces of subway high-rise buildings in the darkness. So the night of Chongqing that can be seen in Fotu Pass and the parting feelings of the whole China begin here - the river and the moon and the mountains are the first mock examination as Li Shangyin in the Tang Dynasty.

Viewing location: Fotuguan Park

scenic spot: On the southern stone wall of Fotu Pass, there are four large characters inscribed by Mr. Zhao Puchu, Chairman of the Buddhist Association of China, which read "Fotu Xiongguan". The stone carvings, Buddha statues, Buddha caves, merit steles, filial piety steles, and viewing pavilions such as "West Pillow Shuangjiang" and "Qinxian Pavilion" from the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties in the park constitute an important part of the scenery.

Time: 8: From 00:00 to 22:30, tickets are now free.

5. The misty rain that has permeated from four thousand years ago to today

One day in the Song Dynasty, the famous minister Yu Jie stood at the foot of Tushan Mountain, gazing at the flowing Yangtze River to the east. The sky was connected to the water, the water was connected to the sky, and the water and sky were one color. Jiangxin Continent, now known as Coral Dam. The ferry needs to take twists and turns to reach the opposite side. In the midst of the misty sky, looking out at the wooden boat, it seems like autumn leaves are coming gracefully. There is a big yellow oak tree next to the ferry, which serves as the positioning of this painting. The ferry travels back and forth with this big tree as the coordinate. The peddlers and pawns put down their pickers, while women and children chatted and laughed, waiting for the ferry under the trees.

Radiant and Colorful Nanbin Road

The Southern Song Dynasty was plagued by frequent wars, and this moment of peace and tranquility was truly precious. Yu Jie has repeatedly written poems about this scene, which is also a warm and hopeful intention, hitting everyone's deep affection for their hometown.

How romantic is Tushan? The first love poem in literary history was written by Tu Shan. The entire poem consists of only four words. The daughter of Tushan ordered her concubine Hou Yu to stay on the sunny side of Tushan. She composed a song and said, 'Hou Ren Xi Xiao!'

About 4000 years ago, Tushan women waited every day in Tushan for the return of their lover Dayu. Facing the surging river, she sang affectionately, "Waiting for you, I'm waiting for you! In front of her was a vast expanse of smoke.

The misty rain on Nanbin Road has been pervasive since four thousand years ago until today.

Once, the riverbank was covered in crabapples. Whenever spring rain came, light smoke would spread and light rain would fall like silk. The crabapple misty rain was named after this, and a small stream was called crabapple Creek. Nowadays, the crabapple is no longer there, and the stream is also gone. Fortunately, the misty rain is still there.

The newly built Yanyu Park is now a scenic platform. On nights with light rain, the misty rain is vast, and the Yangtze River soup and Nanbin Road are brightly lit at night. The specialty food shops along the way tempt tourists' taste buds. Every weekend, there is also a large viewing music fountain. Without smoke and rain, the water mist of the fountain fills the square, and the lights on the Yuzhong Peninsula on the other side are lit up, finding a subtle balance between ancient style and prosperity.

Viewing location: Nanbin Road Yanyu Park

scenic spot: Huangge Wandu, Yanyu Jiangfeng, Two Rivers Confluence, Ciyun Temple, Changjiahui Danzishi Old Street... The entire Nanbin Road is a scenic spot.

Time: This is a square park open to the public. Whenever you go, Nanbin Road is waiting for you.

6. True literature and art in the night of the magnetic mouth

A stone paved road, a millennium old magnet mouth.

Most people's first impression of Ciqikou is always the state of "everyone follows the crowd", and after becoming popular on the internet in the past two years, it has become even more crowded. I want to have a peaceful look at the magnetic mouth, probably only at night.

In summer, Ciqikou Pedestrian Street and Ciqikou Back Street opened. The newly opened back street not only has two boutique hotels, but also two unique homestays. The "Chongqing 1949 Theater" has also been officially put into use.

Overlooking the 1949 Theater, photo provided for the 1949 Theater

After about nine o'clock, the crowds of people in the evening had basically receded, and the stone paved road revealed its original appearance. The shop owners also got rid of the hoarse state during the day and relaxed. There are fewer and fewer people on the street, and they slowly start to pack up the shop. The old shop slowly closes the door and prepares to close for home. There is also an inner late night canteen with bright lights, sufficient soup, several kebabs, some Fried Dough Twists, and bridgehead cat noodles. For more than a decade, it has focused on the nightlife of literary and artistic youth.

The little brother in the dessert shop is sitting in the shop with earphones. It seems that he is a little lonely, but the steaming snow pear soup is mixed with beautiful music. It seems that he has been sitting in the ancient town for too long and has solidified like the ancient town.

The theme of "Chongqing 1949" is serious, and the story is not boring. It is not common to create a theater for a drama. The revolutionary martyrs before the liberation of Chongqing had a family and a country, boundless love and deep affection for their children. The story is magnificent and deeply moving, with montage interpretation of spatial imagery and exceptional viewing effects.

Nowadays, the slow life bar street has introduced a series of benchmark bars from Shanghai and other places, and the bar street seems to be energized, making the noise at night even more lively. The most popular style here is still artistic, with folk singers singing familiar songs such as "Lillian" and "Nan Shan Nan", or the smoky voice of Pu Shu, singing about the moments when the ancient town is less crowded and closer to the people at night.

Walking through the night at Ciqikou, the stone road beneath my feet seems to come to life, and together with the dark walls around me, it forms the most artistic night in Chongqing.

Viewing location: Magnetic port

Time: The magnetic opening is open for unlimited time, and tourists can enter it at any time.

admission ticket: The 1949 performance ticket starts at 200 yuan and is divided into many districts with different prices. Please consult the official website or agent for details.

Romance has no limits. Just like the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan co starring in "Sleepless in Seattle," the meeting on the top floor of the Empire State Building, witnessed by the sky and stars, is the most romantic love.

In Chongqing, there is also such an opportunity.

Looking down at the river, several cruise ships are anchored on the shore; On the other side is the Jialing River, where towering skyscrapers rise from the ground on both sides of the river. At night, when neon lights shine, they exude a magical sense of science fiction. The Ascott Raffles City serviced apartments in another building have the same view.

There is no need to worry about consumption here. The 42nd floor sky garden and restaurant are like castles in the air in the city, offering buffet, afternoon tea, and a bar. 8. Encountering the Forbidden City at Danzishi

In Chongqing, Changjiahui is a place name that directly describes the beautiful scenery of the confluence of the Yangtze River and Jialing River.

The confluence of the two rivers is not a specific point, but an old street and a 516 meter long riverside landscape.

The most peaceful traditions and vibrant urban nightlife are all here.

After the fall of Shanhaiguan on January 31, 1933, the Council of the Palace Museum decided to transport some of the Palace Museum's cultural relics out of Beijing in batches. On February 5th, the entire city of Beiping was under martial law, and the first batch of cultural relics from the Palace Museum were relocated south from the Meridian Gate, marking the beginning of the largest cultural relic migration in human history. More than 9000 boxes of cultural relics from the Forbidden City have been transported from Hankou to Chongqing after several twists and turns, and stored in three locations, one of which is Andasen Trading Company in Nan'an District, Chongqing. The Forbidden City has a total of 3694 boxes of cultural relics stored here. Andasen Trading Company is located not far from Danzishi Old Street, built along the mountain. It was restored to its original state in 2020. There is no nightlife here. Every afternoon at 6 o'clock, the museum staff finish work, and the evening drum of Ciyun Temple plays in the dusk. The heavy gate closes, and the secular world is separated from it.

Stopping by the Yangtze River not far away, one can enjoy the picturesque view of the museum, which consists of four cultural relics buildings, four traditional style buildings, and one cable car site. Under the cover of night, the museum is even more magnificent due to the past. In the corner coffee, the long axis Steamed rolls with Wang Ximeng's "A Thousand Miles River and Mountain Map" as the desktop is integrated with the river scenery and Raffles architecture, which is picturesque and picturesque.

Continuing towards Changjiahui, you will arrive at Danzishi Old Street. The old street here is not as steep as the mountains on the other side of Hongyadong. Each floor has sufficient width, and even a river viewing platform can be opened up to create a protruding small square. The confluence of two rivers, the merging of water and sky, and the dazzling lights of the city... can all be seen in full view.

Thanks to its mature operation, this place is not purely a scenic spot, but will be consumed by local people in Chongqing. At night, restaurants and small bars light up the string of lights at the entrance, creating a strong atmosphere. Especially on summer nights, the river breeze, night beer, music, the two rivers, and groups of hot and spicy beauties wandering around... Almost everything a perfect night should have, including peaceful and noisy time travel.

9. The bustle of Monument to the people's Liberation is never lonely

Small hidden in the wild, big hidden in the city. Go through the most prosperous city, walk all the way from Monument to the people's Liberation to the opposite side of Cathay Pacific Square, and Daijia Lane suddenly appears in front of you.

Photographed by Chen Yunyuan on: Monument to the people's Liberation

This used to be a residential area, with street lights every few meters, enough to illuminate the walking path, but not enough to become a landscape. After the 2021 Spring Festival, the cliff trail in Daijia Lane was adjusted and lit up. The lights on the cliff trail were brilliant and dazzling. Under the night sky, the lights in Daijia Lane were mixed with leaves.

Under the "Z" shaped walkway, the combination of light and shadow complements each other. Standing in a suspended building halfway up the mountain, gazing into the distance, the shimmering waters of the Jialing River reflect the towering buildings on both sides. Colorful cruise ships leisurely sail across the river, and the majestic Qiansimen Bridge spans the night sky not far away.

There are many old trees here, with lush branches and leaves. The light shines through the treetops, dyeing the canopy deep and light green. The coffee shops and snack shops at the top of the trail have opened up the nightlife of the city. A group of interesting specialty shops hidden in orange red "boxes" or in the streets and alleys have come up with their own unique skills and tricks under the night sky. The big rabbits in the rabbit house and the old tables and chairs in the old shop attract tourists with different preferences.

Under the night sky, Daijia Lane and Changxiang in the city gather as fireworks, while when they spread out, they reveal the human world.

The Eighteen Ladder Area, which encompasses the joys and sorrows of Chongqing people and their authentic lives, also includes the traditional mountainous block texture of "fish bone" and "cloud ladder", as well as the architectural types and layout of "traditional Ba Yu". It has 81 large trees, ancient trees, and 13 traditional streets and alleys, old ladder ridges, old fortress ridges, old air raid shelters, and other natural and cultural landscapes with a strong Chongqing flavor. Here, too many historical stories and life atmospheres are gathered.

The eighteen staircases, presented in a new form, rise from the weathered mountains and are built with bluestone. Gray bricks and blue tiles are laid out layer by layer, and hanging buildings are scattered among them; Near the Phoenix Terrace in the distance, there are hipped roofs, parapets, small green tiled surfaces, brick columns and walls

Countless people from Chongqing and other places come here to wander and explore. They walk down the stairs or straight up, then search for small alleys and turn back, walking casually, touching the most primitive Chongqing, the oldest mother city, and doing nothing else.

As we mentioned at the beginning, in Chongqing, there are beautiful scenery and surprises everywhere, which are enough to immerse you in them.

Whether it's day or night.

Here, we have described many beautiful nights in Chongqing, but there is no doubt that compared to the entire city, this is just a drop in the bucket. In the timeline, this is just the beginning. The Dadukou Music Park, which is currently under construction, has over 4000 seats in various music halls and theaters, quietly growing and preparing to add the most magnificent background music to Chongqing's nighttime scenery.

This city constantly brings surprises to the people living here and the tourists who come here, whether in terms of resources, culture, accumulation, or the construction of it by later generations.

We wander here, experiencing ups and downs, crying and loving. Every story that happens here at night will eventually be smoothed out by time and returned to peace.

The only constant is that in the ocean of time, we hope to quietly leave some graphic and textual memories for our city, expressing our infinite love for the city with some personal emotions.

Love for Chongqing at night.
