Happy times are always so short, and the romance in my dreams still lingers in Qijiang for a long time, unable to be let go. With loved ones by my side, I laugh brightly like flowers. This trip deeply feels the beauty of Qijiang and has never let down my expectations for it.
Even with my eyes closed, I can still feel the romance of the Flower Fairy Valley. The serene flowers are as brilliant as a nebula, and when I look up, I can recall the ancient sword peak hanging from the sky, the Buddha bell ringing in my ears, and my hands clasped together, making me more dependent on the faith in my heart.
With peaceful steps, I leisurely walked out of the window and recalled the era of continuous war. It was General Wang Liang who stood up for us and created the peaceful era we have today. If given the opportunity, I would like to embark on the Long March again to express my respect for the revolutionary martyrs.
From time to time, the prosperity and decline of the Qijiang Museum flashed before my eyes, and the prints of farmers also showed such simplicity and friendliness.
Leaving Qijiang for many days, the impression of Qijiang has already been deeply engraved in my mind. Reflecting on the summer fire, I sit quietly by the blinds, through the scattered light, and savor the beauty of this trip to Qijiang~
Kind reminder: The temperature in the urban area of Qijiang is comparable to that in the main city of Chongqing. It is necessary to prepare sunscreen, sunglasses, and sun umbrellas. Gujian Mountain and Huaxian Valley belong to high mountain areas, and some mountain roads are bumpy and winding (especially when Liu Dehua's "Lost Lonely" turns nine). Friends who suffer from motion sickness must bring good motion sickness medicine to prevent the discomfort caused by motion sickness from affecting your travel experience. In high-altitude areas, the temperature is lower at night, so you can prepare a few long sleeved clothes to keep warm.
Regarding itinerary arrangement:
Day 1: Check into the Howard Johnson Hotel in Qijiang District, the main city of Chongqing
Day 2: (Hengshan Town) Appreciating the Romantic Flower Sea in the Flower Fairy Valley - Viewing the Ancient Sword Peak
Day 3: (Yongcheng Town Zhonghua Village) Visit Wang Lang's Former Residence - (Shihao Town) retrace the Long March Road
Day 4: Visiting the Museum - Appreciating Farmers' Prints
On the first day, we were warmly welcomed by the people of Qijiang and experienced the local time-honored delicacies of An'an lamb and Beidu fish. Exhausted, we checked into the local Haosheng Hotel. Although a sparrow may be small, it has all its internal organs, and the hotel is clean and tidy, making it feel comfortable. With this comfortable hotel, travel is even more warm and enjoyable.
The next day, at nine o'clock in the morning, we were already prepared with anticipation for the Flower Immortal Valley, and the journey should be left at any time. The sunlight outside the window showed a few speckles, and the temperature seemed to have not decreased. After a night of maintenance, we were all full of vitality and embarked on the road of seeking flowers and asking for valleys.
Explore 800 acres of flower sea
Qijiang Hengshan Huaxian Valley is a must visit first stop. At first listen to the Huaxian Valley, one cannot help but think of the ancient costume drama "Flower Thousand Bones" that aired a few years ago. Although the two are not closely related, this place is no less impressive. The breathtaking scenery of the world in the drama, with deep forests and falling flowers and flowing water, is all within it.
Huaxian Valley is located in Hengshan Town, Qijiang District. In 2017, it was rated as the best destination for summer vacation, health preservation, leisure tourism in China and the best town for health preservation, travel and vacation in China. A small town has become a famous tourist town in the blink of an eye, it must be said that it is a coincidence of favorable timing and location. The scenic spot of Huaxian Valley in Hengshan Town is located on a high mountain with an altitude of over 1000 meters. The average temperature in summer is 25 degrees, which is like a natural air conditioner given to people by nature. 7. August is also the best season for flowers to bloom and be fragrant and pleasant. In addition to air conditioning, there are also beautiful flowers for people to enjoy.
Before arriving at Huaxian Valley, you will face the down-to-earth mountain road of the mountain city. The 18 bends of the mountain road here are relatively rare, right Remember to bring motion sickness medicine The mountain roads here are also somewhat famous, and it is said that the movie "Lost in the Lonely Hearts" starring Andy Lau was filmed here. Along this mountain road, there are also many flowers, plants, and vegetation. Through the car window, you can slowly use this sudden emerald green to wash away your eyes that have been scratched by the LCD screen, take a deep breath, and let go of the fatigue on your body. Wait a moment, and you will realize that everything now is worth it!
The mountain road twists and turns, and a dreamlike fairyland quietly approaches us. Not long after, the car stopped and I became restless. I was also deeply confused by the colorful flowers in front of me, and stayed in my seat for a long time The sea of flowers in front of me seems to be boundless, with patches of lavender that are so purple that they are refreshing. If you don't look closely, you might mistake it for lavender. Maybe the geographical environment here is not suitable for growing lavender, but verbena here is not much better than lavender, just lacking the quiet perfume flavor.
Whiplash is also a plant with profound connotations. In Christianity, it is the sacred flower, representing justice and peace. In magical stories, horsewhip can also restrain vampires, adding a touch of European classical color to this flower sea. The flower language of the whip grass represents innocence and anticipation, like a pure girl waiting for the arrival of love. The flowers are marked with cute fonts, 'I am waiting for you in the Flower Fairy Valley', where perhaps you can also wait for your love.
Facing the colorful scenery in front of me, I joyfully stepped onto this mysterious garden. Opening the car door, the fresh and elegant fragrance of flowers rushed straight towards my cheeks, immersing myself in it. Close your eyes and quietly feel the unparalleled fragrance of flowers. Not far away, there are wind chimes ringing, giving people the illusion of being in a fairy tale world. The designs in the scenic area are truly exquisite! Starting from visual, gustatory, and auditory senses, we seize every opportunity to let the beauty of Huaxian Valley invade our young hearts.
Walking slowly along the path between flowers, in the blink of an eye, it was once again a golden hue. Fluttering in the wind are golden sunflowers, swaying their bodies under the gaze of the sun, resembling obedient little dolls. Sunflowers emit dazzling light, shining through their pupils and illuminating their calm hearts, causing their emotions to leap with joy and excitement.
The roadside is decorated with small flowers, guiding me to the long admired horsewhip grass. In the vast sea of horsewhip flowers, a faint path crosses and arrives at the center of the flower sea, where the most beautiful scene is frozen.
The flowers in the scenic area are gradually becoming disheveled, and they are haphazardly arranged into various shapes. Flowers and plants gather together, forming an eye-catching heart-shaped pattern, one after another. This is also an unmissable spot for internet celebrities to check in. Lovers crossing together will surely spend a happy life together.
There are also many Chongqing dialect slogans in the scenic area, such as "Be good enough not to fall from grace" and "Mother is the most beautiful in the world". I don't know if they praise flowers or people, but these also reflect the joy of speaking for the people of the mountain city.
The scenic area is divided into six themed experience areas, including Cute Pet Paradise, Flower Fairy Valley Cruise, Flower Sea Slide, Flower Fairy Speed Skating, etc. In addition to the scattered flowers, there are also cute and interesting small animals that are gathered in the Cute Pet Paradise. In addition to watching, you can also choose Hobbit Magic Lodge, RV, etc. to experience the treatment of a natural oxygen bar.
After enjoying the 800 acre flower sea in Huaxian Valley, it felt like everyone was still unsatisfied. After a simple lunch, we embarked on the journey of searching for immortals.
Climbing the ancient sword peak
Gujian Mountain has always been one of the "Twelve Scenic Spots of Ba Yu" and a popular destination for Chongqing residents to relax and escape the heat. The vegetation here is dense, with towering ancient trees and shrubbery. The forest coverage rate is over 85%, making it the "lung of Qicheng" and a natural oxygen bar bestowed by nature on the people of Chongqing. Gujian Mountain boasts stunning natural scenery, rich cultural landscapes, and captivating legends and stories.
The mountain range comes from within Guizhou province, with a highest altitude of over 1100 meters and a lowest altitude of over 700 meters. From a distance, Gujian Mountain looks like a sharp sword inserted by the sky, towering and majestic, or like a rooster crowing with its head held high. Therefore, Gujian Mountain is also known as Chicken's Mouth. The mountains are high and secluded, with lush and straight trees. Surrounded by mountains, the average annual temperature is about 18 degrees Celsius, which is cool and tempting.
The road at the foot of the mountain winds and turns, and cars climb along the road. As we watch Qicheng shrink, more landscapes are presented before our eyes, like a kaleidoscope. Along the way, there are mountain homes, farmhouses, orchards, and convenience stores, making it feel like there is nothing lacking in the mountains and forests far away from the town.
The car stopped at the foot of the mountain, and we had lunch at a farmhouse. The authentic rural side dishes, although not selling well, were all grown by local farmers themselves, ensuring freshness and health. People living in big cities would find it difficult to have a good taste.
Under the shade of trees are scattered light and shadow, indicating that there is a nice weather today. The unknown small flowers along the path bloomed particularly prominently, and towering trees stood tall on a green lawn. People simply set up hammocks between these trees, birds chirped on the branches, and the wind whistled gently in their ears, reflecting the beautiful scenery that would surely give people a good night's sleep.
Moving forward is a temple, and not far away you can hear the sound of Buddha bells ringing. Gujian Mountain is not only an excellent place for people to relax and have fun, but also a holy land of Buddhism. The Jingyin Temple in front of us was originally called Gujianshan Temple. It was built during the pre Song period from 960 to 1127 AD, and was renovated during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. It was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, and in recent years, the Guanyin Hall, Yaoshi Hall, and Guangming Hall have been successively restored.
The mountain gate of the temple was stepped on brightly, and devout men and women who were far apart came to pay their respects. People spread the saying 'Bodhisattva with Chicken Mouth - should be far away, not close', which also confirms the efficacy of the temple. Stepping into the mountain gate, the temple is bustling with incense. The temple is not as magnificent as imagined, giving people a sense of solemnity and cleanliness. They cannot help but bow down three times and offer three fragrant incense sticks, praying for the protection of the Buddha.
Stepping out of the mountain gate with devout faith, I feel my soul has been purified, and this journey will surely be peaceful. Taking cool steps, officially embarking on the journey to the summit. A stone path about 2 meters wide winds and twists, accompanied by lush green branches and leaves, faintly leading to the depths of the mountaintop. We walked slowly around the "sword edge", and there were iron chains at the steep slopes of the mountain to help tourists move forward. The rusty and mottled iron chains were also polished to shine brightly, connecting not only people's safety but also their faith. The mountains are lush with branches and leaves, and the scattered sunlight passing through them guides the way for people. When people are tired, they can rest in the nearby pavilion. Sweet spring water slides out from the cracks in the mountains, soaking people's throats and relieving fatigue.
Near the mountaintop, the green branches along the roadside are adorned with red stripes, filled with people's dependence on Gujian Mountain. Tourists take advantage of their spare energy to step onto the final mountain gate along the narrower mountain road, where the voices are even louder. On both sides of the road, the collision of the concentric locks made a crisp sound, as if the cry of a lover echoed in the sky. Some even emitted a metallic luster, while others were already rusty. Men and women with the same faith believed that they would be like this concentric lock for a long time, even if their appearance aged, the vows they made in their youth would remain unchanged.
Numerous tourists rub their shoulders and beat their hooves, and on the Jigongzui observation deck, one can see the mountains and waters of Qicheng at a glance, with green mountains and blue lakes, ancient wooden houses lining the walls. Although the mountains are not high, they can make people feel the momentum of swallowing the mountains and rivers, and they are worthy of being called the "Little Emei of East Sichuan". The cliffs are towering and ancient trees are towering, making people reluctant to leave for a long time.
The back mountain is surrounded by vast forests and winding trails. It is also a small world for fitness and a small amusement park for couples. There are ponds and wooden houses next to the road for people to relax and enjoy. You can also sit down and have a few cups of tea to feel the beauty of the mountains, and the freshness of the breathing room is still there.
As evening approached, we set off on our journey home one after another. The trees in the mountains were still lush with greenery, but without the nourishment of sunlight, they changed from emerald green to dark green. The mountains sang in the evening, and the wind brushed across our fingertips and cheeks, sweeping away our fatigue. It seemed that we would rather stay and listen to the arrival of night. Although reluctant, we still left with hope for tomorrow.
The itinerary for today had already been arranged the night before. I arrived at Wang Liang's former residence early in the morning and went on the Long March in the afternoon to experience the legacy of the older generation of revolutionary martyrs. The continuous light rain destined for a solemn journey today.
Wang Liang was born on August 5, 1905, in Yongcheng Town, Qijiang District. His original name was Wang Huachi, and he had studied at Huangpu Military Academy and was proficient in the languages of the Three Kingdoms. He joined the CPC in 1927, participated in the Autumn Harvest Uprising on the Hunan Jiangxi border in September of the same year, followed Mao Zedong into Jinggangshan, participated in the establishment of the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base, and later participated in the famous "Gutian Conference". The Fourth Red Army was reorganized in Changting, with Wang Liang serving as the commander of the First Column of the Fourth Red Army. In the Ji'an reorganization, 25-year-old Wang Liang was appointed as the commander of the Red Tenth Division. This young hero has a life like an open hanging, and what is even more worthy of learning and admiration is his tenacious and fearless spirit of the Red Army.
With the sentiment of commemorating the martyrs, we come to Comrade Wang Liang's hometown, Zhonghua Village, Yongcheng Town, Qijiang. A black and white four courtyard in the village is the former residence of the general, backed by Fengguan Mountain and facing Laoying Mountain. In front of the small courtyard, a plaque engraved with the words "Wang Liang's Former Residence" hung under the eaves, just as the achievements of the general have been passed down through the ages. The heroic deeds of the general continue to emerge in the mind, killing enemies and making achievements. A good man should take responsibility for defending his country.
With admiration for the general and curiosity about what exciting stories the general will have in his life, we entered this' Wang Liang's former residence 'with questions.
Entering the former residence, the great achievements of General Wang Liang are presented before us. Words, pictures, and old objects, from the inside out, take General Wang Liang's deeds as the main theme, divided into three themes: the former residence, the Red Qijiang, and the deeds of Wang Lang. It tells the story of the general's military life, which will be so glorious and fulfilling under General Wang Liang's feet in less than thirty years.
Stepping into this historic courtyard, the most prominent positions were a pocket watch and a pen. It was only with the guide's explanation that I realized these two objects had significant origins. These two items were very valuable at the time and were not bought by Wang Liang himself. They were officially awarded during the victory of the Great Encirclement Campaign. In the battle against the Kuomintang's encirclement and suppression, General Wang Liang made great contributions. He commanded his troops to flank the enemy and launched a fierce attack with his brother troops, completely annihilating the Nationalist Army's 18th Division headquarters and two brigades, capturing more than 9000 enemy soldiers, seizing over 9000 firearms, and capturing the enemy's front-line commander Zhang Huizan alive, achieving the great victory of the Red Army's first anti encirclement and suppression campaign. These two items were officially captured as spoils of war from Zhang Huizan during the battle. Chairman Mao and Marshal Zhu De firmly decided to reward them to Wang Liang. From then on, Wang Liang kept these two items until the victory of the Anti Japanese War. Now these two honors are preserved in the Chinese People's Military Museum.
In addition to a pocket watch and a pen, the letters sent by General Wang Liang are also fully preserved in Wang Liang's former residence. He cannot return home when fighting for the country, which is also the distress and regret of every hero who sacrificed for the motherland.
In order to commemorate General Wang Liang, the people of his hometown erected a memorial monument to him at the Martyrs Cemetery in Qijiang District. In 2005, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Wang Liang's birth, the people of Qijiang spontaneously built a "General Pavilion" on Fengguan Mountain, the highest peak in Yongcheng Town, and engraved inscriptions such as "Military Merit Passed down for Thousands of Years" and "Eternal Army", allowing the deeds of General Wang Liang to be passed down through the ages.
Qijiang is still an indispensable part of the Red Army's journey through Chongqing. Although the main force of the Red Army only stayed in Qijiang for seven days, it had extremely important strategic significance. We have once again embarked on the Long March of the Red Army in Qijiang and listened to more heroic stories.
Visiting Wang Liang's former residence is not so much about traveling as it is about browsing through the history of heroes, so that future generations can remember the red spirit and know that peaceful living today is hard won.
Visit museums and appreciate prints
If you want to deeply understand the culture of a region, you must visit the local museum. I have been visiting Qijiang for several days now, and I only went to visit its museum on the last day with a slight apology.
The Qijiang Museum is located in the Farm Community of Gunan Street, Qijiang District. It is a comprehensive museum showcasing the culture of the Qijiang River Basin and the only museum in China that features the display of Liao people's culture. It is also the National Land and Resources Science Popularization Education Base of the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Southwest Experimental Base of Tongji University Historical Building Protection Center, the Chongqing Science Popularization Education Base, and the Chongqing Humanities and Social Sciences Popularization Base.
The museum has a building area of over 3500 square meters and an exhibition hall area of over 2100 square meters. It lists the history, geology, and other cultures of Qijiang in the museum, turning a building into a textbook.
In the museum, we learned about the origin of Qijiang District. According to the "Summary of Historical Geography", Qijiang is located in the south of the county, namely Yelangxi. It flows into Nanchuan County and is also called Nanjiang. The county is as green as silk, hence the name Qijiang. There are also many legends about the origin of Qijiang. During the Warring States period, a general fought until Qijiang was seriously injured. After fainting and waking up, he asked his subordinates where this place was, but none of them knew. At this time, a small boat swayed on the river, and a flag was hung on the boat with the word "Qi" written on it. Therefore, the general named this place Qijiang, and his posthumous robe and bronze sword were also buried in Qijiang. It is also rumored that the name of Gujian Mountain comes from this bronze ancient sword.
Since ancient times, southern China has been known as the land of the Southern Barbarians, and the most prominent civilization in museums belongs to the Liao people in the Qijiang area. It is said that in ancient times, the Nanpingliao ethnic group was distributed in the Qijiang area. This ethnic group lived in the mountains where venomous snakes and poisonous grass were widespread, and their people were fierce and warlike. In the past, Emperor Gaozu of Han, Liu Bang, was enfeoffed by Xiang Yu and sent to Shu. Although Shu was in a state of chaos, it was actually a rich land. Liu Bang and Xiao He recruited talents in Shu and eventually led their troops eastward to capture the land of the Three Qins, becoming the co ruler of the world. Legend has it that the Southern Pingliao also played an important role in helping Emperor Gaozu pacify the mountains and rivers.
In ancient times, the Qijiang area was also deeply loved by dinosaurs. Scientific researchers have discovered many dinosaur fossils and footprints in Qijiang, and these ancient relics are also displayed in the Qijiang Museum.
Qijiang is a temple of printmaking, once named as the hometown of farmer printmaking, and also listed as an intangible cultural heritage project in Chongqing.
You will definitely be amazed by the rich prints here when you come to Qijiang Farmers' Printmaking Academy. These prints are based on the lives of the general public, with vivid compositions and bright colors. From these prints, we also see the optimistic attitude of the people of Qijiang towards life.
Printmaking incorporates modern elements, simple yet fashionable. It's not just in the courtyard, you can see the colors from people's hearts in the streets and alleys of the city, making the city more colorful and making people's hearts warmer.
Tasting Qicheng cuisineQijiang is not only a region with profound historical and cultural heritage, but also a traditional city of cuisine.
The streets and alleys are full of delicious food, such as Rice noodles, mutton noodles, Beidu fish, Anwen mutton Just smelling the fragrance makes you unable to stop.
Among them, Beidu Fish and An'an Lamb are the most famous, and you will encounter such shops on the streets and alleys. Beidu Fish became famous in the 1980s and is renowned both domestically and internationally. Using traditional methods, seasonings include chili peppers, Sichuan peppercorns, garlic, etc. After the fish is cooked, pour secret boiling oil over it. Listening to the crispy sound, your taste buds will also boil. This spicy flavor is simply a favorite of Chongqing people. With the improvement of eating methods, the eating methods of pickled Chinese cabbage fish, tomato fish and fish head soup were also developed.
An'an lamb, as a traditional delicacy, has been passed down for over 200 years. It is an intangible cultural heritage of Qijiang and a time-honored brand in Chongqing. A sheep can be made into a variety of dishes, such as braised lamb, specialty grilled lamb chops, specialty grilled lamb slices, roasted lamb liver, specialty lamb hooves, etc., which can satisfy diners from multiple regions and make their taste buds explode in summer.
The few days I stayed in Qijiang allowed me to witness its picturesque scenery, fragrant flower sea, rich and colorful regional culture, and a variety of specialty foods, all of which were enough to retain my entire summer. Time flies, the stars above my head, accompanied by the chirping of flowers, plants, and insects by the roadside. The wonderful memories I experienced here resurface once again, but I have to leave this picturesque small town again. Goodbye, Qijiang~
