preface
The sunshine is just right, the breeze is not dry;
This summer, Chongqing has become a cool place to escape the heat;
I only discovered in Chongqing that the wind of over twenty degrees was still hot, and indeed it was still a furnace;
Regarding this trip to Chongqing, I was taken by my best friend to a place called Fuling in Chongqing; When it comes to Fuling, the first thing that comes to mind is "Fuling Pickled Mustard". This magical Fuling, known as the hometown of pickled vegetables, not only has pickled vegetables, but also the picturesque thousand mile Wujiang Gallery, the geological wonder left by ancient crustal movements "Wuling Mountain Rift Valley", the romantic and beautiful flower "Xiangda Muhua Valley", and the world's first underwater museum, Baiheliang, located here. It should be a good idea to think about.
On the first day, I went shopping and eating in Chongqing
It's almost five o'clock in the afternoon when I arrive in Chongqing. I'm going to have a rest and go to Monument to the people's Liberation to have a hot pot.
Although I have been here many times, every time I don't visit Monument to the people's Liberation, it's like I didn't eat hot pot. Every city has a bustling commercial street, including Chunxi Road in Chengdu and Nanjing Road in Shanghai. If there is any difference between Monument to the people's Liberation Pedestrian Street and Monument to the people's Liberation Pedestrian Street, it is probably Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street
The monument in the center represents the significance bestowed upon it by Chongqing's history.
At this moment in Chongqing, the internet famous city is different, with lights shining everywhere and a lot of people, especially at night. There are a variety of snacks and hot pot restaurants on both sides of Bayi Road Delicious Street, but what I want to say is that this "Chongqing Old Hot Pot" in Yuli is really delicious. Even my younger brother said, "This is the purest butter old hot pot he has ever tasted.
The logo is not particularly obvious, under the Home Inn on Bayi Road's Delicious Street, both sides are Chongqing specialties. In fact, this hotpot was recommended by local friends in Chongqing. It is said that people in Monument to the people's Liberation did not come to eat hotpot, but this one was an exception. Ha ha, my brother took a group photo with the bronze statue eating hotpot. He was reluctant to take photos, but he couldn't help it.
From the elevator next to us, we arrived at the hotpot restaurant on the second floor. We were attracted by the strong retro style decoration in front of us. The two sides of the entrance were filled with raw materials such as chili peppers, ginger, garlic, etc. used to make hotpot base. The top was decorated with down-to-earth elements. The baskets we saw as children, televisions and radios from the 1980s became full of memories here. In Chongqing, "Yu" refers to Chongqing, which means hotpot that must be eaten in Chongqing
It's not even seven o'clock yet, and the restaurant is already fully booked. It's definitely not wrong to come here. The restaurant has a relatively large area, with separate private rooms and specialty dining seats, old wooden window frames, quaint and elegant lanterns and carvings, simple and retro, which shows that the owner is still very thoughtful.
. According to the salesperson, there are three wonders in Chongqing. The "first wonder" is the classic butter base in Chongqing, the "second wonder" is the inheritance of sour plum soup in Chongqing, and the "third wonder" is the family tradition of beef in Chongqing. The essence of a good hotpot lies in the spicy and delicious flavor at the bottom of the pot.
Sit down and prepare for dinner. It is said that in Chongqing, delicious hotpot is always crowded in line, with each line taking several hours. However, as soon as we think of spicy duck intestines, tripe, and beef, we can't bear it anymore. We smell the aroma of hotpot and quickly open fire to order.
Of course, the signature dish for the bottom of the pot is the "Three Generations Family Inheritance Spicy and Spicy Butter Hot Pot", and not only does the bottom of the pot have its own characteristics, but their dishes are also not inferior. The several signature dishes in the restaurant are all hard dishes, and just thinking about it, it's spicy and refreshing enough to eat!
One of the must-have points: beef passed down through three generations - exquisite plating combined with fairy spirit, even eating hot pot becomes so stylish. Beef is a carefully selected checkered meat, recommended to be cooked for ten minutes, the thick base locks in the beef aroma, and it tastes soft, sticky and flavorful.
Chongqing people say that when eating hotpot, you must order tripe, duck intestines, beef, and yellow throat! When the pot is boiling, the first thing to blanch is tripe, because at this time, the firepower is the strongest and it is easy to quickly cook it. Blanch it for more than ten seconds, then dip it in some sesame oil and garlic sauce, chew it in your mouth, and you can hear a crisp and tender sound.
Eating hotpot must be accompanied by sour plum soup, and his handmade sour plum soup is a must-have. It is packaged in a small wine pot, and if you don't pay attention, you may think it is a pot of wine. It tastes sour, sweet, and delicious!
Tender beef - I ordered two plates to feel it's enough to eat, which is also a classic in hot pot. It perfectly blends the spicy and delicious flavor of the pot bottom, with tender and delicious meat, making it delicious and satisfying.
Featured Little County Liver~I have only tried Little County Liver in skewers before, and this is my first time trying hot pot. The crispy and crunchy taste is irresistible, and I can't stop eating it. I have 20 skewers in one serving, and the portions are full and satisfying.
Surprise Bouquet with Thousand Layers of Belly~A delicious dish nestled among the flowers, said to be made with top-quality Australian farm tripe. When eating, boil it over high heat for 15 seconds, and it's incredibly fresh with a crispy and tender taste! Still a must-have dish
Also, there's dried scallops with salted egg yolk and shrimp roe. My favorite dish is shrimp roe, which has a really great taste. The deliciousness of dried scallops and the refreshing tenderness of shrimp roe complement each other, making it not only fragrant but also particularly tender and smooth. It's really satisfying! Comfortable! It's really delicious!
Chongqing's iced rice dumpling has never been tired of eating. It is made of various red beans and peanuts, fermented glutinous rice, and brown sugar water. It is cool and refreshing to drink the ice sand full of brown sugar juice and fermented glutinous rice juice. Only by eating a whole bowl of iced rice dumpling at one time can we calm the hot and excited heart.
What's particularly commendable is that the service in Yuli is really great. As soon as you sit down, pre dinner snacks and fruits are ready in front of the guests, and eating hotpot gives you a sense of luxury in Chinese cuisine. And the waiters here are all young brothers, ladies, and sisters who have been around for years!
Overall, when coming to Chongqing, I recommend this' Yuli Old Hotpot 'restaurant. The dishes and service environment have surprised and brought me happiness, and the most important thing is its authentic local Chongqing flavor.
Understanding the mountainous city of Chongqing may be through word of mouth, the world of the internet, or even a spontaneous journey. However, no matter through what channels one learns about it, they cannot avoid the word 'Chongqing hotpot'.
After finishing hot pot, it's already past nine o'clock. I also came out to explore Hongya Cave, which can be called the Chinese version of Spirited Away's hidden world. Hongya Cave is a stilted building with the most traditional characteristics of Bayu in Chongqing. It was once crowded with people by Tiktok. But the night scene here is really beautiful. The first and eleventh floors are all roads, which has the architectural characteristics of Chongqing Mountain City.
The next day, the cliff crack | Wuling Mountain Rift Valley
The divine craftsmanship of nature has created the oldest scar on Earth - the Wuling Mountain Rift Valley
The Wuling Mountain Rift Valley is located in Wuling Mountain Township, about 40 kilometers southeast of Fuling District, Chongqing. It is situated at the northwest end of the Wuling Mountain system, on the east bank of the lower reaches of the Wujiang River. The oldest "scar" on Earth, the cliff crack caused by violent crustal movement, is remarkable and has the reputation of "China's first dynamic canyon". The average summer temperature here is around 19 degrees Celsius, which is very cool.
Moving step by step, the scenery changes, and from a distance, the Grand Canyon is magnificent and magnificent. The strange stone stacks at the bottom of the valley are covered by dense vegetation, and the murmurs of streams can be faintly heard; The mountains, watchtowers, valleys and other landscapes here are staggered in height and rich in layers. From the valley at an altitude of 600 meters to the peak at over 1900 meters, there is a drop of over 700 meters, and the mountain is extremely steep and spectacular.
Arriving at Tianmen Cave, one cannot help but marvel at this natural cliff that resembles a great wall stretching for miles, making it a rare natural landscape in the world. At first glance, it looks like a towering "copper and iron wall" standing in the midst of the mountains. In the center of the copper and iron walls, there is a moon shaped doorway that seems to have been carved out of the sky, indescribable.
Copper and iron walls "are a smooth stone wall formed in the entire karst landform environment by billions of years of natural power and thunderous geological movements, due to faults and long-term weathering. Its rock age belongs to the Paleozoic Permian Changxing Formation limestone 250 million years ago.
The Tianmen Cave Cable Bridge is 180 meters long, starting from a copper and iron wall and ending at the "Wind Pass". This cable bridge that spans between thousands of valleys and mountains is very sturdy. Walking on it, one can see the scenery of thousands of miles of gorges and appreciate the sea of clouds and rosy clouds of thousands of mountains. If encountering cloudy and foggy weather, it is even more mysterious and unpredictable like a fairyland. There are more than ten scenic spots here, such as "Buddha's Palm", "Peacock Opening its Screen", "Five Monkeys Descending the Mountain", "Male and Female Chimpanzees", "One Pillar of Sky", etc., which can be enjoyed slowly.
The "Wuling Taidou" cableway, which can be called the "steepest" in Asia, was discovered to be so cute. The colorful colors are like a rainbow, adding vitality to these mountains. The two cable bridges of Wuling Taidou and Tianmen Cave, one horizontal and one vertical, are suspended in the mountains of Wanhe, forming a new travel route of the Wuling Mountain Rift Valley, known as the "Tianmen Strange Danger".
Going down to the bottom of the valley is the legendary Lover's Valley, where a wedding performance of ethnic minorities is underway. Passionate brides will randomly choose a groom among tourists to get married, allowing them to experience a special ethnic minority wedding custom. Under the guidance of a matchmaker, the performance will be completed, which is a very interesting experience. Interested friends who come here may find that the next groom will be you.
After watching the wonderful wedding performance, walking for about twenty minutes is the Qingtian Gorge. The deep canyon and winding fissures in front of us all evoke the wonder of nature.
The Qingtianxia Rift is a 1.5-kilometer-long scenic spot in the Wuling Mountain Rift Valley. The widest part of the fissure is less than 2 meters, with cliffs on both sides and a maximum depth of 300 meters. When you look up, you can only see a line of sky. The ground is lined with strange rocks and stalactites in various shapes. The visual shock and impact brought by the scene are unimaginable without being on site.
What else cannot nature accomplish when such a powerful boulder is torn apart alive?
Walking in the crevices and cliffs, strange and rugged rocks can be seen everywhere on both sides. Looking at the scars that seem to have been cut by blades, they cover the entire stone wall. From the moment you enter the crevice, you can see various wonders such as the Open Door Stone, General Stone, and One Meter Sunshine. This is a 1500 meter long, meticulous landscape painting that combines mountains, gorges, forests, springs, waterfalls, cliffs, caves, streams, pits, and crevices into one natural masterpiece.
The winding and twisting boardwalk is like a dark dragon sleeping underground. The light in the crevices is very dim, and it becomes even more mysterious when it rains. In the drizzling rain, a little light leaks out through the narrow slit, making the crevices extremely artistic. At the end of the Qingtian Gorge fissure, there is an underground underground river entrance with a diameter of about ten meters. The water from the Wuling Mountain Rift Valley (Shijiagou) flows into this cave after passing through the Qingtian Gorge fissure.
Although walking on the boardwalk, it feels like swimming in a painting. Along the way, there are unique caves, and every step and place is an excellent scenic spot, making people dazzled. The captain of the British exploration team, Brown, visited here twice and explored the vast crevices for 4 days and 4 nights without reaching the end. The waterfall formed by the underground river in the cave is 34 meters high and 30 meters wide, making it the largest underground river waterfall discovered in the country so far.
Through this 250 million year period of the Paleozoic Permian, we have come back to reality through a time tunnel.
Da Mu Hua Valley | Under the Forest Garden
Daming Flower Valley is located in Daming Township, Fuling District, Chongqing, in the Wuling Mountain Range, about 180 kilometers away from the city center. It is also a leader in domestic high-altitude flower theme parks, with various flowers blooming in every season of the year, which is very beautiful.
Hidden in the natural forest scenery of the original ecology, the Flower Valley is surrounded by continuous mountains and lush forests on both sides. The variety of flowers is diverse and bright, and people feel like flower fairies in it, watching a hundred flowers compete for beauty. The flower sea and lake that stretch for dozens of miles in the Flower Valley merge with the scenery of the mountains on both sides, forming a unique canyon flower, which is like the Chinese version of "Provence"
The Da Mu Hua Valley Park has a rich and colorful classification, including multiple major attractions such as Haitang Garden, Kui Garden, Baihua Garden, Artificial Lake, Iris River, Vanilla Garden, Longdong Youjing, etc. Each garden presents a unique floral landscape with distinct styles. In summer, sunflowers bloom in full bloom, while in spring, there are also February Blue and Lu Bing flowers in full bloom. At this time, the Flower Valley is a magnificent scenery.
In the depths of the Flower Valley, there is a real-life version of the fairy tale forest called the "Garden under the Big Wood Forest"
The morning mist filled the entire mountain forest, as if entering Alice's Wonderland. Various tulips, azaleas, hydrangeas, crabapples, and lilies bloom all over the mountains, in the forests, under the pine trees, and in the gardens. It is truly charming, and the air here is fresh and peaceful.
Accompanied by the drizzling rain, I stayed at the inn "Boundless Garden" in the garden under the forest at night. This is a homestay surrounded by flowers, sleeping in the fragrance of the flowers and being awakened by them. In the boundless garden, the air seems to be filled with the fragrance of flowers, the light and shadow flicker faintly, the fragrance of flowers sways, the cicadas sing and birds sing in the small courtyard, and there are charming scenery everywhere.
In the forest, among the flowers, and in the boundless garden, homestays seem to be the only way to appreciate the romance and tenderness hidden beneath the roughness of Chongqing. Here, there are clear skies with starry skies, gentle breezes in summer, and terraces at night... It has freed up a cool and warm place for people in the reinforced concrete forest, where they can rest both physically and mentally.
Wuji Garden has a total of "eight homestays", including cultural and creative restaurants, cafes, bars, flower tea rooms, and other parts. The concept of flower life is integrated into the details, close to nature, and enjoy a lifestyle. During rest, you can choose a cup of your favorite coffee in the caf é of Wuji Garden, and enjoy a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
On the third day, the most beautiful academy in China | Fuzhou Academy
Located by the South Lake of Baihe Forest Park in Fuling, there is a quaint and rich public welfare academy called "Fuzhou Academy", which is also the most beautiful academy in China. Fuzhou Academy was founded in January 2016, nestled by mountains and waters. It is the first public welfare academy in Fuling to provide free reading services to all residents in the district. Since its establishment, the academy has trained over ten thousand book enthusiasts.
The Public Welfare Academy is highly recommended, and it is also a unique academy with a unique environment. Its appearance resembles a building from the Republican era, and the interior of the academy exudes a classical, elegant, and warm ink fragrance.
Fuzhou Academy integrates tea ceremony, incense ceremony, floral arrangement, painting, and calligraphy, making it a great choice for self-cultivation, reading, and learning.
The backyard is even more tranquil and peaceful, with flowers and plants blooming throughout the garden. The strong scent of books permeates it, and in such a comfortable environment, sipping tea, relaxing, enjoying the scenery, and reading is truly an enchanting and unforgettable place.
The academy has three small buildings, all made of wooden structures. From time to time, bird songs can be heard outside the windows, giving it a lively and vibrant atmosphere. In this antique learning environment, it is enough to cleanse the noise and restlessness of the world, allowing learners to experience nature calmly, feel the vast harmony of nature, and cultivate their body and mind. They should be kind and courteous, and engage in traditional cultural learning with gentleness and respect.
As a reader, I feel that Fuzhou Academy inherits the excellent cultural knowledge of Fuling, and provides a high-quality, positive energy, and rich cultural exchange platform for citizens. Such a learning place is worth promoting.
The world's first ancient hydrological station | Baiheliang Underwater Museum
The world's first ancient hydrological station, the Baiheliang Underwater Museum, is located in the middle of the Yangtze River north of Fuling City, Chongqing. It is a world-class treasure trove of hydrological data and an underwater monument forest, and the only nationally protected cultural relic in the Three Gorges cultural landscape.
The Baiheliang Underwater Museum is divided into two parts: a ground exhibition hall and an underwater tour hall. There are exhibition units in the ground exhibition hall, including "Water of Life - Hydrological Observations in World River Civilizations", "The Ruler of the Yangtze River - Scientific Value of the White Crane Ridge Inscription", and "Underwater Stele Forest - Humanistic Value of the White Crane Ridge Inscription". Obtain an unforgettable memory through sound experience, visual experience, participation experience, and emotional experience.
Baiheliang is a natural stone beam formed during mountain building movements. It is about 1600 meters long and 10 to 15 meters wide, extending east-west and parallel to the Yangtze River. It only emerges from the water surface when the Yangtze River is dry. According to legend, during the Tang Dynasty, the real person Erzhu (é r j ū) practiced by the river in present-day Baiheliang, Fuzhou. Later, he attained enlightenment and ascended the Crane Immortal to Shiliang, hence the name "Baiheliang".
The inscription on the Baihe Liang dates back to the first year of Guangde in the Tang Dynasty. There are a total of 165 inscriptions on the beam, including 18 stone fish, 2 Guanyin statues, and one white crane, mainly distributed on the middle section of the 220 meter long stone beam. I believe many of you have heard of the phrase 'Stone Fish Omen to Abundant Years'. This is because the inscription is submerged underwater all year round, only appearing on the surface when the river water dries up in winter and spring. In ancient times, people used carved stone fish as a dry water marker. Whenever the river recedes and stone fish are seen, it means that a period of low rainfall and dry water has passed, and a harvest year is about to come.
It is admirable that ancient people carved fish as markers, which is very close to the principles of modern hydrological observation. In foreign countries, fixed water markers were set up to observe changes in river water levels, which has a history of less than a hundred years. However, ancient Chinese laboring people used similar methods to record changes in the water level of the Yangtze River as early as 1200 years ago, believing that the cultural heritage of history is profound and extensive.
The underwater tour section is particularly interesting.
Tourists need to take a 90 meter long, 40 meter vertical tunnel style escalator from the ground exhibition hall to enter the 147 meter long underwater time tunnel, and then enter the 70 meter long viewing corridor. The entire underwater museum is actually a protective shell built on the original site of Baiheliang, like a submarine in the river, enjoying the Baiheliang inscriptions through the glass portholes of the submarine.
The old man here said that in the past, in order to appreciate these inscriptions, one had to take a small boat and row to the river to see them. Due to the love of literati and ink artists throughout history to inscribe on Baihe Liang, it has become an "underwater monument forest" that integrates literature, calligraphy, painting, and stone carving art. Through the water, more than 300 literati and ink artists gathered on the beam, leaving over 30000 words of inscriptions in 8 different calligraphic styles, which have astonishing artistic value. Among them, the most famous is the "Yuan Fu Geng Chen Fu Weng Lai" inscription by the Song Dynasty literary giant and calligrapher Huang Tingjian.
After visiting, returning to the ground entrance, you can also make a copy of your favorite inscription and take it home as a souvenir, which is very meaningful.
Fuling specialty cuisine
Speaking of Fuling food, the most important thing is tofu pudding rice, which is a traditional food that many Fuling people like very much. Have a bowl in the morning, stay awake all morning, have a meal at noon, and stay alert all afternoon. Tofu pudding tastes fresh and tender, tastes smooth, and its seasonings are spicy, refreshing and delicious. It's an appetizer.
Making a bowl of tofu pudding is simple and easy, but it is not easy to make white tofu pudding that is tender and suitable. It requires experience and skill. Diners of all ages come here to eat a bowl of "tofu pudding rice" belonging to Fuling people, whether they are young people with daily leisure, office workers in suits, or elderly grandparents.
In addition, ordering a roasted white or pickled pepper sausage will make it even more perfect. The roasted white sausage is fat but not greasy, with a salty and slightly sweet taste, including the subtle numbing aroma of Sichuan pepper, authentic Chongqing flavor.
The famous snacks and specialties in Fuling District of Chongqing City include Fuling pickle, Fuling green vegetable head, Fuling longan, oil fermented glutinous rice, Zengfu native chicken, tofu pudding rice, crisp crisp sugar, etc. Don't miss tofu pudding rice when you come.
