Chongqing is a national historical and cultural city, renowned for its mountains, fog, and furnaces throughout the country. In Chongqing, buses and light rails sometimes ascend to the sky and sometimes descend to the ground, appearing and disappearing; In Chongqing, you may enter a building from the first floor and go down two floors only to find that you are still on the first floor; In Chongqing, you may be on the road by car, but you might still be on someone's rooftop; In Chongqing, when you see the end of a road, it disappears as you walk; In Chongqing... Chongqing is fascinating, and more importantly, there are beautiful women and hotpot in Chongqing. The opportunity finally came, but unfortunately my family couldn't travel together and I didn't want to contact my friends. I hurriedly prepared a few clothes to change, packed my camera, and started a solo trip to Chongqing.
June 2, 2019 Linxia Lanzhou Station Chongqing North Station Yangtze River Cableway Monument to the people's Liberation Hongya Cave Sunny weather
I woke up at 5:30 in the morning, had breakfast, brought rice and stir fried dishes for lunch, put on my backpack and camera, and took the "Linxia Taxi" to Lanzhou Station at 6:00. I was worried about time constraints all the way, but I arrived around 8:00. After boarding the 9:11 high-speed train and checking the routes and strategies, I unknowingly arrived at Chongqing North Station at around 15:50. I can't help but sigh, it's so convenient to appear now. Take the subway directly from the railway station, and then transfer to the 7 Days Hotel (Chongqing Monument to the people's Liberation Delicious Street Store) booked online, just opposite the subway exit. There are several halal restaurants downstairs and across the street from the hotel. The 15th floor of the hotel is a mosque, which is called the Muslim Building. I feel very good and have checked in.
Rest until 18:00 and experience Chongqing's "internet famous landmark" Yangtze River Cableway. The Yangtze River Cableway starts from Chang'an Temple in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, spans the Yangtze River to Shangxin Street in Nan'an District. It is the first cableway on the Yangtze River and also a filming location for many movies and TV dramas in Chongqing. "If you don't take the Yangtze River Cableway, you have never been to Chongqing", so tourists should go to experience it. Because there are many people sitting, netizens recommend that you take the bus from Shangxin Street Station. There are few people waiting in line at this station, and you can directly go to Monument to the people's Liberation and Hongya Cave from the south bank to the north bank, making the journey smoother. I took the subway for about 10 minutes and arrived at Shangxin Street Station. After leaving the subway station, I walked for about a few minutes along the way and found the cableway entrance, a descending staircase with beautiful paintings on the steps and walls, which felt quite artistic.
There aren't too many people at the cableway station, with a one-way capacity of 20 people and a round-trip capacity of 30 people. The cable car is a box type cable car surrounded by glass. Sitting on the cable car, you can see the surging Yangtze River, the buildings on both sides of Chongqing along the river, and the surrounding scenery. Although it only takes about 5 minutes to cross the river, the experience is still quite good. The Yangtze River Cableway, with its grand name, is actually a mode of transportation for locals to cross the river. It is said that the night view of Chongqing will be more beautiful on the cableway, but I did not include it in my itinerary. After getting off the cableway, there was a platform. After taking a few photos, I walked out of the cableway station and sure enough, there were many people queuing up here.
When I left the ropeway station, I was enjoying the street view of Chongqing and heading for Monument to the people's Liberation. It took me ten minutes to get there. Monument to the people's Liberation, formerly known as the Memorial Monument to the Victory of the Anti Japanese War, is the landmark of Chongqing and the only national monument in China to commemorate the victory of the Chinese nation in the Anti Japanese War. The monument is an eight sided column helmet top structure with a total of eight floors. The platform is surrounded by a flower garden, and there are four large clocks on top, facing in different directions. Various high-rise buildings stand tall and crowded around. Standing on the platform of Monument to the people's Liberation, I saw four pedestrian streets radiating from the east, west, south and north. People came and went in the pedestrian street, which was quite lively. It is reported that Monument to the people's Liberation Pedestrian Street is the most prosperous business district with the longest history, the largest flow of people, and the most prosperous business district in Chongqing. There are many high-end shopping malls, hotels, and luxury brands. Of course, it also gathers all kinds of Chongqing's characteristic food. It is called "the first street in western China". No wonder there are so many people and it is so popular. Of course, this is also the filming location for 'Passing Through Your World'.
Feel the excitement around the Fangbei. After taking photos, follow the crowd to the next station Hongya Cave. Hongya Cave is located on the Jialing River Cliff of Monument to the people's Liberation Central Business District, Chongqing. It is a magnificent and magnificent world wonder - China Cliff City that "rises" on the 75 meter high cliff. Its architectural complex is dominated by the "stilted buildings" style with the most traditional characteristics of Bayu. It is built along the mountain and cliff, organically integrating catering, entertainment, leisure and featured cultural shopping, forming a unique "three-dimensional air pedestrian street", creating a mountain city feature that going out from the 11th floor and the 1st floor is a road. It is known as the city card of Chongqing and the banquet hall of Chongqing people. On the way, I saw a uniquely shaped and artistically stunning building. The main body of the building was red, with bright colors, like a burning "bonfire" or a sailing ship. It was very eye-catching, visually impactful, and very beautiful. It was also photographed. Later, Baidu found out that it was the Guotai Art Center.
20: Arriving at Hongyadong Scenic Area at 00, the lights were already on, the road was bustling with cars and people, and the shops were bustling with activity. Chongqing's nightlife had begun. In front of us, the Qiansimen Bridge is shrouded in a rainbow, stretching across both banks. With the decoration of lights, it is even more magnificent. The Jialing River is reflected by the lights on both sides, sparkling and colorful, with brightly lit boats shuttling on it, full of dynamic energy. The skyscrapers on the other side of the river are colorful, and various advertising slogans constantly appear on the electronic screen, making your eyes wander. Under the outline of the night lights, the Hongya Cave shows a hanging attic with high and low, staggered and layered shapes, bright and magnificent. It feels like a palace or a golden fairy tale world in front of you, with a mysterious sense of a strange world, which is amazing. The night view here is really beautiful, and no words can accurately describe it. Truly a real-life version of Qianli Qianxun, truly deserving of its reputation.
I first went to the Qiansimen Bridge to take photos and saw that there were a lot of people below. Fortunately, there weren't too many people on the bridge. After taking the photos, I went back the same way. Going down the stairs to enter the interior of Hongyadong, there are dense stilt houses on both sides, with different contents on each floor, including restaurants, snack streets, bars and cafes, as well as local specialties, souvenir shops, cinemas, etc. I didn't stay inside for too long. After wandering around for a while, I quickly came down from upstairs and arrived at the first floor. Yes, I entered Hongyadong from the first floor on the ground, but then went to the first floor again. Anyway, when I came out, it was the main road, haha. As soon as you cross the road, you'll see the Jialing River. The night view is beautiful and there are many people. Looking at the Hongya Cave across from here, it's like a dreamy fairy tale castle. The lights depict all the levels and details of the stilted house, as if it's gilded, shining brilliantly! Very beautiful, but it feels different.
After enjoying the scenery, winding up from the nearby stone steps, you will come to Hongya Cuicui, with a viewing pavilion, a small waterfall, and a water curtain cave. I turned around step by step, enjoying the beautiful scenery from different angles and feeling the beauty. Passing through the Water Curtain Cave, I didn't go to Hongyadong Commercial Street, but continued up the stairs and soon arrived at the 11th floor platform, which was not far from the entrance in front of me.
Tired and thirsty, I went to a nearby internet celebrity yogurt shop, bought a drink, rested for a while, walked back to the hotel in about 20 minutes, arrived at 21:50, ate the leftover rice and vegetables for lunch, made a strategy, and then rested.
On June 3, 2019, the weather at Liziba Station, Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Erchang Cultural and Creative Park, and Eling Park was sunny
Last night, due to renewing the hotel, I got the wrong name and felt a lot of emotions. Is it really Struggling to fall asleep while spinning and turning. I woke up at around 8:00 in the morning, had my own food, drank coffee, and went to the 15th floor mosque to learn about the ceremony. 8: Around the age of 40, I stored my backpack at the front desk to experience what netizens call god like transportation. The light rail train passed through the building walls and arrived at Liziba Station, a popular light rail station in Chongqing. 9: Around 10, take the Light Rail Line 2 to reach Liziba Station, get off to the observation deck across the street, and witness with your own eyes the magical scene of the light rail passing through buildings and speeding through the air, which is still very shocking. Didn't you also take the light rail and cross it yourself? Actually, sitting in the light rail or on the platform doesn't feel much.
Next to the observation deck is a long glass observation channel, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Jialing River. 9: Around 40, I continued to take the Light Rail Line 2 and transferred to a bus to go to the Huangjueping Campus of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. After getting off the bus, it's the graffiti street of the Academy of Fine Arts. The short street is filled with graffiti on the exterior walls of buildings, shops, and campuses, like a giant 3D graffiti gallery.
The campus is shaded by green trees, with fresh air and a deep and artistic environment. Various styles of sculptures and installation art can be seen everywhere, including people, animals, and various artistic forms. Some are in the forest, some are on the roadside, some are on the door frame, some... There are also graffiti filled buildings like the Red Mansion, and there are also works by Sichuan American students on the roadside walls! Surprises can be seen everywhere, and there is an artistic atmosphere everywhere. There are not many people here, so you can freely pose and take photos. The photos taken are super beautiful, and I feel that this place has a particularly artistic atmosphere, which feels very good.
There is also a transportation tea house near Chuanmei, which became an internet celebrity due to the filming of the movie "Crazy Stone". The location is on Chuanmei Graffiti Street, hidden under the stairs next to the street. At 11:10, I entered the teahouse, where there were unique caves. The old-fashioned wooden frame structure, uneven beams, gray and black bricks and mottled walls revealed a unique sense of the times. The teahouse is not big and there aren't too many people inside. There are people drinking tea, playing chess, discussing trivial matters of life, and tourists who come here to experience the life of Chongqing people. Everything appears to be peaceful and content. In the teahouse, some past items and historical photos were also displayed. I also ordered a bowl of 8-yuan Lao Tuo tea here to enjoy tea, rest, and experience the life of the old Chongqing people.
Half an hour later, leave the teahouse, take the bus and transfer to the subway to Lianglukou, and experience the Crown Escalator. The escalator is one of the characteristic transportation in Chongqing, connecting two intersections and Chongqing Station (also known as Caiyuanba Railway Station). It is the longest sloping escalator in China (second longest in Asia) and is known as the first mountain climbing escalator in China. It is 112 meters long, 52.5 meters high, 1.3 meters wide, and has a slope of 30 degrees. I entered the entrance of the Crown Escalator at 13:00, and it cost two yuan per person for a single ride. The escalator felt very long and endless, with no end in sight. Standing on the escalator and looking down, I felt a little dizzy. The speed of the ride was quite fast, taking about two minutes each time. I sat down from top to bottom once, but it was not satisfying. I spent two yuan to sit down from bottom to top again. The experience was really novel and fun, with a little excitement. I could also experience the characteristics of the mountainous city of Chongqing, and feel the unique terrain and transportation of Chongqing.
Leaving the escalator, I walked to the Second Factory Cultural and Creative Park. Along the way, I looked left and right, experiencing the unique mountainous terrain of Chongqing and admiring its unique architecture. I walked and stopped like this. About half an hour later, the map showed that I had arrived at the cultural and creative park, but I couldn't find it. Suddenly, I saw several students looking like people coming up a descending step. After asking, they also went to the cultural and creative park, but I couldn't find them below. Nearby residents told them to turn along the road and get there. Hehe, this is Chongqing. The map shows that it has arrived, indicating whether it is above or below. You need to ask more, as there may be stairs up or down. Don't run around and take the wrong path.
Erchang Cultural and Creative Park, also known as Erling Erchang, was formerly known as Chongqing Printing Second Factory. With the development of the times, the once roaring machines gradually stopped, and Erchang gradually faded out of people's sight. The old factory still retains the original style of a standalone old building and incorporates modern design art style, creating two squares, four streets and alleys, and nearly ten factories. Inside, there are artist's tea houses, designer's grocery stores, Chongqing indigenous cafes, and a lot of interesting small shops. Make this place unique and full of artistic atmosphere, it is a place loved by young people. The radio station in the movie 'Passing by Your World' was filmed on the rooftop of Building 31 here. This is indeed a suitable place for photography. The industrialized covered bridges, mottled old walls, and the light and shadow under the shade of trees are all beautiful scenery that can capture a lot of artistic photos. Unfortunately, there are no beauties around, and it's boring to wander alone. Standing on the rooftop and enjoying the scenery of the two rivers, after taking a few photos, we went to Goose Ridge Park.
It takes about ten minutes to arrive. The Goose Ridge Park is located in Yuzhong District of the Chongqing Peninsula, on a narrow mountain range that crosses the Yangtze River and Jialing River in the north and south. It is the highest point of the Chongqing Peninsula, with main attractions such as the Rope Bridge, Yihui Garden, Kansheng Tower, Martyrs' Tomb, Lianchi Corridor, etc. Kansheng Tower is the highest point of the park and an excellent place to overlook the city of Chongqing. The first feeling when entering the Goose Ridge Park is the quiet environment, fresh air, and green plants planted inside. Surrounded by towering trees, sunlight falls from the gaps in the leaves and leaves, leaving tree shadows mottled everywhere. The scenery is very attractive. Perhaps due to the abundance of plants, walking inside on a hot day is cool and comfortable, making it a good place for leisure and summer escape.
I walked and stopped in the park for about an hour. I left at 4:00 pm and arrived at the subway station in a few minutes. I took the subway to the 7-day hotel at Jiaochangkou to pick up my backpack, ate Chongqing noodles, and walked to the 7-day Jiefang Road pedestrian street store to check in. Rest until 18:00, take the subway back to Erling Park, and arrive at Kansheng Tower at 18:20. This is a seven story tower building that rises along the spiral staircase, with observation decks on each floor. Climbing up to the seventh floor, the 360 degree observation deck is unobstructed, and looking out from the railing, the entire Chongqing city area comes into view. The front is lush and green, and the two rivers in the distance are winding and flowing. The rainbow like bridge spans the two rivers, with buildings of different shapes standing tall and low on both sides. It feels like a modern engineering decorated garden, very beautiful.
There are also more and more people, most of whom are photography enthusiasts. Long guns and short cannons have been set up, waiting to capture the beautiful scenery of Chongqing sunset. I also chose the location, waited, and filmed. At the moment when the sun was about to set at the foot of the mountain, the setting sun dyed the entire sky red, putting makeup on this city. It was quiet and warm. Yes, "the sunset is as beautiful as a painting" is just One by one, the lights count down the departure of daylight. As the lights begin to light up, Chongqing at night is depicted as another enchanting world, truly beautiful.
Return to the hotel around 21:30 to rest.
On June 4, 2019, Ciqikou Ancient Town - Hongyan Soul Exhibition Hall - Baigongguan - Zhazidong had sunny weather
Yesterday was too tiring, so I woke up a bit late today. I had breakfast around 9:00, renewed my hotel, and departed to take Metro Line 1 to explore Ciqikou Ancient Town. 10: When you leave the subway station at about 30, follow the crowd and walk forward. In less than five minutes, you will see a huge memorial archway type gate. The three characters "Ciqikou" on it will make you instantly shocked by the solemnity and simplicity here. Chongqing Ciqikou Ancient Town is a folk culture ancient town with a history of over a thousand years. Originally named Longyin Town, it is a microcosm and symbol of Chongqing's ancient city, containing rich Ba Yu culture. With a stone paved road and a thousand year old Ciqikou, it has developed into 12 streets and alleys through generations. Most of the streets are lined with Ming and Qing style buildings, and the ground is paved with stone slabs, with shops lining the streets. Nowadays, Ciqikou has become a popular check-in spot for internet celebrities in Chongqing.
When you enter the ancient town, the streets are wide and narrow. As the stone steps go up and down, there are many small streets, some of which are very narrow. First of all, you will feel more and more people, and sometimes you will be crowded in a small space. Besides the flow of people on both sides of the road, you will see many shops. These shops decorate the streets very dazzlingly. Some streets sell some local specialties and small goods in Chongqing, some streets sell handicrafts, some streets are distributed with some quiet water bars, tea bars, and painting and calligraphy art galleries, but most of them are restaurants, snack bars, and Chen Changyin Fried Dough Twists's.
The shop owner will stand at the door enthusiastically shouting, and you will unconsciously look into their store. The dazzling array of goods will make you dazzled. At the same time, you will be driven by this enthusiastic atmosphere, either stopping to watch, playing, tasting food, drinking tea and drinks, and experiencing the authentic Chongqing life. In short, you can discover many unexpected things here, such as ethnic costumes, antique jade, handmade musical instruments, calligraphy and painting artworks, colorful food... It will definitely broaden your horizons and satisfy your taste buds. Even if it is not a festival, it will be as happy as a holiday. From the appearance of the house, the uniquely shaped ancient buildings are arranged in a row, retaining some traditional architectural styles such as archways and stilted houses, giving it a feeling of old Chongqing. Although most of them are rebuilt or renovated, the original style is maximally preserved. The ancient buildings have now transformed into restaurants with diverse styles and numerous small commodity stores, and the antique flavor always makes this place stand out from the crowd. There are also attractions such as Baolun Temple and Zhongjiayuan in the ancient town.
In fact, Ciqikou is the kind of traditional ancient town old street, which is not much different from other ancient town old streets except for those selling snacks and having some differences in architecture. However, when you walk along the small path of bluestone stones and pass through the antique shops on both sides, even if you don't buy anything, just stroll around and feel the atmosphere here, and experience the local customs of Chongqing, the feeling is still very good.
I strolled through the alleys of the ancient town, taking a stroll here and there. I wandered for over three hours before leaving the town around 14:00 and taking a bus to Bai Gongguan. Get off at the Martyrs' Cemetery Station, walk up the slope for about 10 minutes, and arrive at the Red Rock Soul Exhibition Hall. The Red Rock Soul Exhibition Hall was built in 1963 and is divided into two levels. The original site is the parade platform of the "China US Cooperation Institute". In 1999, the exhibition hall was renamed as the "Red Rock Soul Exhibition Hall". I visited the "Red Rock Soul" series of exhibitions and gained a deeper understanding of content such as "Records of Geleshan Mountain" and "Tragic Geleshan Mountain". After coming out, I saw the "Red Rock Soul" square, which had a grand atmosphere and a calm style.
Then proceed along the highway, passing through Southwest University of Political Science and Law, passing through the Martyrs Sculpture Area, and arrive at the entrance of Bai Mansion in about 20 minutes. The Bai Mansion was originally a villa on the outskirts of Sichuan warlord Bai Ju, and was used as a secret prison by the Nationalist secret agency since 1938. Patriotic figure Liao Chengzhi, Communist Party member Song Qiyun, couple Xu Linxia, and their young son "Little Radish Head" were all imprisoned here. At its peak, more than 200 "political prisoners" were detained here. Entering the Bai Mansion is a two-story villa, with slogans such as "Dedicate oneself to the pursuit of loyalty and make up for mistakes when retreating" written on the walls inside the courtyard. The room is decorated with exhibitions, and visitors can enter through a small door on the side of the first floor, where there are dungeons, torture chambers, and other facilities. Leaving the Bai Mansion and climbing up the stairs, you will arrive at the exhibition room showcasing the life stories of Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng. After seeing the exhibition, continue on to reach the reception room of Dai Li. Upon returning, pass by the "Little Radish Head" that was harmed and descend the mountain. Follow the mountain path, pass through the Plum Garden, and arrive at the Zhazi Cave.
Zhazidong is located at the foot of Geleshan Mountain in Chongqing, with a hidden terrain. It was originally a small coal mine for manual coal mining and was named after its large amount of slag and small amount of coal. It was once transformed into a secret prison by the Nationalist secret service to detain and persecute revolutionaries. The popular anti Japanese films such as "Red Rock" and "Sister Jiang" were based on the Zhazidong. With admiration for the hero, I visited this scenic spot. The Zhazi Cave is not very big, about the size of a football field. It is a two-story building made of blue bricks and gray tiles. Walking into the prison through a small gate leads to a large open area with slogans on the walls and watchtowers around it. The security is very strict. Zhazidong is divided into two chambers: the inner and outer chambers. The outer chamber serves as the office for the guards and the torture chamber, while the inner chamber consists of a prison on the first floor and one floor. Now every room inside has an exhibition, displaying the lives and relics left by revolutionary martyrs in each room, which is very educational.
After receiving patriotic education, I left Zhazidong at around 15:40 and took a bus to the subway. I arrived at the Muslim Building at 17:00 and had stir fried dishes and rice at a restaurant downstairs. After wandering around for a while, I returned to the hotel to rest.
On June 5, 2019, the weather changed from light rain to clear at the People's Great Hall, Three Gorges Museum, Zhongshan Fourth Road, Guiyuan, Zhou Gongguan, and Qiansimen Bridge
I woke up at 7:00 in the morning, had some homemade food, and walked to the Muslim Building around 7:40. It rained last night and the weather became cooler, making me feel more comfortable. 8: Around 00, I arrived at the mosque. At 8:10, the mosque held the Eid al Fitr ceremony, which ended around 9:30. The temple prepared fruits, cookies, and other offerings, and I ate some.
10: I had another bowl of Chongqing noodles at the restaurant downstairs. The noodles were not as strong as beef noodles, but they tasted very smooth and flavorful. The chili oil was very fragrant, but not as spicy as I imagined. It was a bit numbing, and when paired with chopped scallions and pickled vegetables, it felt very fragrant and delicious. Afterwards, I took a bus straight to visit the Chongqing People's Grand Hall and arrived at People's Square around 11:20. The first thing that catches the eye is the Chongqing People's Grand Hall, which is brightly colored, has the style of ancient Chinese court, magnificent and exquisite. Its appearance is familiar, reminiscent of the Prayer Hall of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.
It is reported that the Chongqing People's Grand Hall was designed by Mr. Zhang Jiade, a famous Chinese architect, and was built between December and April 1955. It is the first large-scale building in New China with a strong ethnic style, integrating traditional Chinese palace architecture with Western architectural structural characteristics. It is an iconic building in Chongqing and has been recorded in the history of world architecture due to its outstanding architectural achievements. I was attracted by the strong Chinese ethnic customs and majestic atmosphere of the auditorium. After taking a few photos outside, I purchased a 10 yuan ticket and went through security to enter the auditorium for a visit. The spacious circular audience hall, with terrazzo stairs and floors, a stepped hall, and a circular hall consisting of 4 floors. Red chairs are distributed on the fourth floor and the bottom, and on the large stage, phoenix dances with lotus flowers, cloud pillars stand tall, and the dome is looked up at. The steel frame and wooden structure are exquisite, and the entire building is grand in scale and magnificent, giving people a sense of solemnity and magnificence.
After allowing the visual experience to fully enjoy architectural art, I left the auditorium. Outside is a large square, with green belts on both sides. The big trees are very densely planted. In front of it is an antique memorial archway with four rows and three spans. The shape is square and grand. The memorial archway is mainly orange and red, covered with green glazed tiles, and inlaid with gold patterns inside and outside. On the memorial archway is written "Chongqing People's Auditorium".
Through the memorial archway, you can see the main building of the Three Gorges Museum opposite, which seems to be carved out of the mountain, like a landscape garden with the theme of mountains and waters. Continuing forward, up the stairs, you can see the panoramic view of the auditorium from the platform in front of the museum, which is very beautiful.
12: Around 10, swipe your ID card to enter the museum. The Three Gorges Museum is very large, with a magnificent architectural style. There are tens of thousands of cultural relics in the museum, showcasing the development history of Chongqing and the Three Gorges. The museum has four floors, each with its own themed cultural relic exhibition. The first layer features a 360 degree panoramic film of the Three Gorges, showcasing its natural scenery and cultural charm. The second layer showcases the cultural roots of Chongqing over 3000 years ago. The third layer displays the history of the Chongqing bombing during the Anti Japanese period. The fourth layer showcases the folk culture of many ethnic groups in the southwestern region. Today, I spent 3 hours watching the surround screen movie 'The Three Gorges', roughly watching and tasting the rich exhibits of Chongqing University, learning a lot of knowledge, and gaining a certain understanding of Chongqing's history and culture. It can be said that I have benefited a lot.
After leaving Chongqing Museum, I walked to a quiet cultural street, Zhongshan Fourth Road in Chongqing, which took about 10 minutes. Zhongshan Fourth Road is known as the "most beautiful block in Chongqing". There are not many people on the road, and layers of yellow kudzu trees are planted on both sides of the road. At a glance, it is a quiet green area. The weather is very good, and Zhongshan Fourth Road is very peaceful. The sunlight pours on the ground from the layered leaves, forming patches of light. Walking on the mottled shadows of the trees, watching the numerous buildings on both sides of the road with blue bricks, black tiles, arched windows, and arcades, it seems that time has stopped, and people's hearts have truly calmed down, giving a feeling of peaceful time. As a historical district, Zhongshan Fourth Road carries many important cultural relics in modern and contemporary Chinese history. From the intersection to the end of the street, there are some buildings from the Republic of China period on both sides, including Guiyuan, Zhou Mansion, Dai Mansion, and the former site of the National Government Presidential Palace, which can experience a unique historical atmosphere.
I mainly visited Guiyuan and Zhou Mansion. Guiyuan is a small two-story building with a tight layout and exquisite design, which was the place where the Double Ten Agreement was signed. During the negotiations in Chongqing in 1945, General Zhang Zhi used this place as Mao Zedong's meeting and office in Chongqing. The decorations of his old residence were still preserved inside, and photos of Mao Zedong and Comrade Zhou Enlai's activities during the negotiations in Chongqing were displayed. At the end of the street is the Zhou Mansion, a historical building named No. 50 Zengjiayan. In the winter of 1938, after the CCP delegation moved from Wuhan to Chongqing, Comrade Zhou Enlai rented this house in his personal name for the convenience of work. It served as the main office location of the CCP Southern Bureau in the city, with the military, cultural, women's, foreign affairs, and party groups of the Southern Bureau all located here. On the right side of the small building is the residence of Dai Li, the director of the Kuomintang Military Statistics Bureau, and on the left side is the Kuomintang Police Station. Entering the Zhou Mansion, one feels very peaceful, with gray brick walls, green plants, and simple facilities. The second floor corridor is very beautiful, offering a view of the river. After watching the picture display, sitting in the academy, meditating, makes one feel like they have traveled through time and space. In front of the door is the spacious Zengjiayan Square, with a bronze statue of Zhou Enlai in the center of the square depicting his hardworking journey through wind and rain. People come here to pursue the past and pay tribute to the great man. 16: Around 30, take the subway back to the hotel to rest.
18: Leaving the hotel at 20, I strolled around the popular Bayi Road Food Street in the main urban area of Chongqing. Within just over a hundred meters of the street, one side was filled with shops selling delicious food and Chongqing specialties, while the other side was a shopping mall. The road was crowded with people, and cars occasionally passed by. Most of them were standing on the roadside eating delicious food, but unfortunately, I couldn't.
19: Around 20, I boarded the most beautiful bridge in Chongqing, the best place to watch the night scenery - Qiansimen Bridge, a scenic spot praised by Tiktok. The full name of Qiansimen Bridge is Chongqing Qiansimen Jialing River Bridge. It starts from Yuzhong District, Chongqing City, spans the Jialing River, and faces Jiangbei City in Dajiangbei District to the west, overlooking Hongyadong. It also serves as a cross river highway, pedestrian walkway, and rail transit. At dusk, many tourists crowded together on the pedestrian walkway of the bridge, some holding cameras, some holding mobile phones, taking photos or recording videos, and even playing live broadcasts. Some people sat on the roadside, waiting for nightfall to enjoy the night view of Hongyadong and the buildings in Yuzhong District.
Standing on the bridge overlooking Hongya Cave, the entire building of Hongya Cave is like walking out of an anime, very similar to the "unbelievable town" in "Spirited Away". The Jialing River flows slowly, with sparkling waves, and the cruise ship slowly moves forward, quiet and peaceful. The buildings on both sides of the river are colorful and compete for beauty under the shining lights, which is very enduring. The night view here is indeed very beautiful, with each angle having its own unique beauty. Walking slowly on the Qiansimen Bridge, as the light rail passes by the bridge, there is a vibration under my feet. In the gentle breeze at night, I feel a little floaty, as if floating in a fairy tale world. Perhaps this is an important reason why the Qiansimen Bridge has become an internet famous attraction. The night has completely fallen, and I walked, stopped, and patted my way across the bridge to the other side of the river. Under the flickering neon lights, the Qiansimen Bridge in the night looked like a red giant dragon, spanning across the river with an imposing aura. The bridge, high-rise buildings, and Hongyadong blend seamlessly together, shining brilliantly against the backdrop of the river. On the wall of the adjacent building, a magnificent light show is being staged, making people feel intoxicated.
Climbing onto the bridge from the other side, the scenery is different. The Chongqing Grand Theater stands out in the night, like a colorful dancer changing colors and patterns. Along with the colorful Jialing River and brightly lit cruise ships, it creates a dynamic and colorful picture of the night scene here, which is very beautiful and stunning.
Around 21:30, I left reluctantly and arrived at the hotel at 22:00 to rest.
June 6, 2019 Joseph Hall - Mountain City Trail - Loquat Mountain Park - Huguang Guild Hall - Shuidongmen - Chaotianmen Weather Sunny
I had some shoulder pain yesterday and didn't sleep well at night. 7: Wake up at 30, wash up, and leave the hotel around 8:20 to go to the Catholic Church of Joseph. Not far, it's near the hotel and takes about 7-8 minutes to get there, but it's a bit difficult to find. It's completely submerged in the sea of buildings, and even if you pass by on the road, you won't be able to find it. You need to deliberately search for it. When you enter a small alley next to the building, you'll see a very beautiful brick structure and a European style Joseph's Church entrance, which is very old-fashioned. The three words Joseph's Church are also full of weight. The church entrance is unmanned, and there is no charge for visiting, let alone security checks. Entering the church, the space is not very large. There is a church hotel inside, and the church is quiet with few people. Entering the scripture hall, two rows of large pillars supported the milky yellow ceiling, with high hanging lanterns and flickering candlelight. In the center, there were painted statues of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and Joseph, and fourteen oil paintings of Jesus on the two walls. The furnishings were elegant and magnificent, and the atmosphere inside the church felt solemn and dignified. Several elderly people were whispering softly, and I walked cautiously, afraid of making any noise that would disturb the quiet and peaceful atmosphere here. This is indeed a place where people can calm down.
About 20 minutes later, I left Josephine Hall, returned to the hotel, packed my bags, checked out, and walked to the Monument to the people's Liberation Delicious Street of Jiaochangkou 7 Days Hotel to check in. Around 10:00, I had dry mixed noodles downstairs and walked to the Mountain City Trail, which took only 10 minutes to reach the entrance of Zhongxing Road. The Shancheng Trail is a city trail in old Chongqing that can only be walked on, and it is the imprint of old Chongqing. Chongqing is a city built in the mountains, with many adjacent areas having a drop of several tens of meters. In the past, transportation could only rely on urban trails that climb hills and ridges.
I walked along the trail, climbing up the stairs and strolling through the alleys of the stone paved road and the mountain city trail. The buildings along the way had a strong Chongqing flavor, including several old buildings and many artistic small shops. There were many graffiti on both sides of the alley, some of which reproduced old street life and some were familiar modern life scenes. When I reached the suspended plank road, I could also enjoy the scenery of the Yangtze River, the Yangtze River Bridge, and the south bank of the Yangtze River. When I arrived at Consul Lane, I could feel the tranquility and solemnity. Some parts of the alley are very narrow, with twists and turns. Keep walking along the way, pass through Consul Lane, and you will reach the highway. Not far away is Tongyuan Gate. I passed through Shancheng Lane - Zhandao Kou - Hanging Zhandao - Shancheng Lane (Ren'aitang) - Consul Lane in sequence, and arrived at Tongyuanmen around 11:10.
On this journey, I experienced the rich atmosphere of urban life in old Chongqing, felt the most primitive Chongqing style, appreciated the charm of the past mountain city, enjoyed a moment of tranquility and peace, and appreciated the unique charm of the river scenery in the mountain city. Walking and stopping, taking photos, appreciating, and perceiving, it was really comfortable and satisfying. Tongyuan Gate is the only one among the nine gates in Chongqing that does not face the river, which is the only land route leading to other places. There are remnants of ancient city walls on both sides of the doorway, and sculptures of siege and defense are located next to the city walls. You can climb up the city wall for sightseeing. There are roads and several passages inside and outside the city wall.
Leaving Tongyuanmen, I walked for less than 20 minutes to reach loquat mountain park. Chongqing Loquat Mountain has an altitude of 345 meters and is one of the highest points in the city center. Loquat Mountain Park is a very beautiful park built along the mountain, with loquat trees covering the mountain. Many pavilions and towers have also been built, which are very quaint and beautiful. In the park, the mountain roads are winding, the bamboo trees are shaded, the flowers and plants are luxuriant, and the air is fresh. On the top of the mountain, there is a White Marble statue of the ancient pipa girl yearning for spring, and there is a red star pavilion. Standing in the red star pavilion, you can enjoy the scenery of the Yangtze River, and you can also see the Chongqing People's Auditorium. There are not many scenic spots in the park, but the feeling is very good. I rest, watch, meditate, and take photos in the park, and leave around 12:20.
Take the subway to Huguang Guild Hall and arrive around 13:20. The ticket is 30 yuan per person. The Chongqing Huguang Guild Hall is located by the river and is a collective name for the ancient architectural complex and antique style new architectural complex of the early Qing Dynasty, such as the Guangdong Provincial Government, the Qi'an Public Office, and the Yuwang Palace. It is currently the largest known ancient guild hall complex in the central urban area of China. The guild hall complex was first built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of nearly 300 years. It is a historical witness to Chongqing's prosperity as a prosperous commercial district in the Qing Dynasty and an important symbol of Chongqing's immigrant culture, commercial culture, and architectural culture from the early Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China. The guild hall was mainly a gathering place for people from Hunan and Hubei provinces in Chongqing at that time, carrying the functions of worshipping ancestors and gods, as well as cultural inheritance and mutual comfort of hometown feelings. The buildings inside the guild hall are very grand, with yellow buildings extending upwards as the mountain rises, giving a unique cultural atmosphere. The Yu Palace is magnificent, the Qi An Palace is exquisite and exquisite, and the Guangdong Palace is tall and magnificent.
The guild hall is composed of many small courtyards, which are interconnected with each other. Each courtyard has its own unique charm. Walking freely between rows of courtyards, you will feel the entire ancient architectural complex with exquisite carvings and lifelike reliefs. There are many theme materials, including patterns of characters and stories such as Journey to the West, The Story of the Western Chamber, Investiture of the Gods, and the Twenty Four Filial Piety, as well as patterns of dragons, phoenixes, animals, and various exotic flowers and grasses. In addition to buildings, there are also restored scenes for character displays, cultural relic exhibitions, theater buildings, and more. It is a very worthwhile cultural landscape to visit, with distinctive architecture and beautiful views from every angle. There aren't many people today, so I'm traveling in a leisurely way, slowly observing, savoring, and listening to the stories of this history. It not only satisfies my eyes with architectural art, but also teaches me a lot of knowledge, and I have gained a lot.
Leaving the Huguang Guild Hall, not far away is the location of the ancient city wall and Dongshuimen built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. Dongshuimen is one of the water docks in old Chongqing. It is the main east gate among the seventeen ancient city gates in Chongqing, adjacent to the Huguang Guild Hall. It belongs to the Shijuanding City Gate Cave and is one of the only two remaining ancient city gates in old Chongqing. Going down the stairs, you can see the ancient city walls made of rough and large stone piles, giving people a sense of antiquity and heaviness. Travelers who come here can put away the noise and playfulness, and immerse themselves in the ancient time and space unconsciously, making people quiet. Walking slowly through the thick and narrow openings, walking on the ancient stairs, you cannot see everything bustling around, you cannot hear the rumbling light rail trains passing by, only feel the gentle blowing of the river wind, and merge with your own slight breath, giving people a feeling of crossing.
Down to the street, there is the memorial archway Gate of Huguang Guild Hall. Next to it is the old street of Dongshuimen. The whole building is archaized. Inside the green tiles, black bricks and white walls are some traditional and modern restaurants, and there are all special snacks with Chongqing characteristics. Continue walking for more than 10 minutes and you will arrive at Chaotianmen Pier.
Chaotian Gate was once one of the 17 ancient gates in Chongqing. During the Southern Song Dynasty, imperial envoys often sent imperial edicts from the Yangtze River through this gate, hence the name Chaotian Gate. It is the pride and landmark of Chongqing. Arriving in Chongqing, Chaotianmen is a must visit attraction for tourists to check in. When I arrived, Chaotianmen was under construction and vehicles were not allowed to pass. Pedestrians could take a detour along the pier. Chaotianmen is now mainly used as a transportation dock, where you can see different companies' docks along the river. Inside the river, there are various types of cruise ships and sightseeing boats, but there are not many tourists. Looking at the scenery of the river and taking photos, in no time, we arrived at the confluence of the Yangtze River and Jialing River. Standing on the steep and long stone steps of the dock, we looked towards the river. The yellow Yangtze River and the green Jialing River converged at Chaotianmen Pier, creating a clear and distinct landscape. Looking back, modern buildings stood tall, forming a natural Eight Trigrams diagram with the buildings and bridges on both sides of the two rivers, which was very beautiful. Sitting casually on the steps of the dock, the river breeze blows in the face, watching the scenery across the two rivers, enjoying a wonderful time, daydreaming, feeling quite beautiful.
I left around 5:00 pm and took the bus back to the hotel. After eating potatoes, beef, and rice at the restaurant downstairs, I rested. It is said that the night view of Chaotianmen is also very beautiful. The lights are all on at night, which is particularly beautiful, but I didn't go to see it.
June 7th, 2019, Nanshan Botanical Garden - Kaixuan Road Elevator Weather Sunny
I woke up at 7:30 in the morning, ate sour and spicy noodles, packed my backpack at 9:00, checked out, and checked into the neighboring Aixi Hotel. I left at 9:30 and took a bus to Nanshan Botanical Garden. There were many people on the bus, and I arrived around 10:40. After purchasing a ticket for 15 yuan per person, I entered. Nanshan Botanical Garden is the core scenic area of Nanshan Nanquan Scenic Area in Chongqing. It was built on the basis of Nanshan Park in 1995. The botanical garden has established areas such as rose garden, orchid garden, plum garden, camellia garden, bonsai garden, central landscape garden, golden eagle garden, a tree viewing garden, and a large exhibition greenhouse. Nanshan Botanical Garden gathers over a thousand precious flowers from both China and abroad, with floral patterns and fragrances throughout the year, earning it the reputation of "Mountain City Flower Crown". It is a great place for Chongqing citizens to go for an outing. The entire botanical garden is lush and green, with most of the flowers gone. Originally, when summer arrived, only the trees were the most lush. Although most of the flowers have passed their flowering period, the garden landscape design of the botanical garden is very innovative. It is well maintained and tidy, and the environment is elegant when you walk in. It feels different and has a very natural smell. In addition to fresh air, there is also a faint floral fragrance. The plant shapes feel very artistic. The staff has arranged various models of the originally inconspicuous plants, which are very realistic and interesting. The buildings are also very stylish, such as celebrity villas and foreign embassies. These buildings are nestled against the mountains, combining Chinese and Western styles or Western styles. They are small and exquisite, hidden in the beautiful scenery of the southern mountains, well preserved, low-key, and quaint, giving a great feeling. The small bridges, flowing water, rockeries, waterfalls, pavilions, and sculptures in the park are very distinctive and beautiful, with charming scenery.
Strolling through the Nanshan Botanical Garden, the green mountains and clear waters, the chirping of birds and the fragrance of flowers create an indescribable atmosphere. I leisurely strolled in the park for 5 hours, looking here and there, enjoying the beautiful scenery inside, breathing in the clear air, stopping here and resting elsewhere, fully enjoying this tranquility and beauty, very comfortable.
15: Leave around 30 and take the bus back to the hotel to rest. About an hour and a half later, I went downstairs to the Hometown Restaurant to eat spicy spring water chicken and rice, and walked to experience the Kaixuan Road elevator. It's not far, it's nearby. It is one of the oldest elevators in Chongqing and the first urban passenger elevator in China. It is a lift type elevator that connects Chuqikou and Jiaochangkou. It has appeared on CCTV's most popular program "Zhengda Variety Show" and on Chongqing's matchbox production, becoming a landmark building of the city. Actually, it's just an ordinary elevator, an outdoor urban elevator built for going up and down mountains, and one of the transportation tools for the people of mountainous cities. I experienced it, getting on the elevator from the main road and getting off the elevator is the main road again, hahaha! Chongqing is indeed a magical city, and it feels a bit magical and rare. There are stairs next to the elevator, which look very long and steep. It is estimated that after climbing once, the elevator has already been taken five or six times. Taking the elevator is really convenient and solves the problem of citizens climbing up and down dozens of meters of stairs every day, which is very meaningful.
After leisurely strolling around the area, enjoying the river view and admiring the beautiful lights at night, I returned to the hotel at 21:00.
On June 8, 2019, Nanbin Road - Jinzhao Airport - Zhongchuan Airport - Linxia weather changed from light rain to clear
The weather was hot, coupled with shoulder pain and mosquito bites, and I didn't sleep well. I woke up at 8:00 in the morning, ate my own food, packed my luggage, and took a bus to Nanbin Road. Nanbin Road is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River in Chongqing, facing the Yangtze River to the north. The Ba Yu culture, religious culture, port opening culture, Dayu culture, dock culture, and anti Japanese war site culture are scattered along the route like pearls, earning it the reputation of the Bund in Chongqing. It is an urban sightseeing and leisure landscape avenue that integrates flood control and bank protection, urban roads, old city renovation, catering, entertainment, and leisure.
After arriving at the Nanbin Road Scenic Area, I walked upstream along the riverside trail, watching the rows of high-rise buildings and enjoying the river scenery, blowing the river breeze, which was very pleasant. Passing through small parks, bars, barbecue restaurants, docks, etc., some people are fishing by the riverbank, some are running and exercising, some are sitting in coffee shops by the river, some are strolling with their dogs, and some are wearing wedding dresses and leading their loved ones to welcome the most important moments of life. Everyone looks very leisurely and content. I just look here, look there, take a leisurely stroll, and try my best to feast my eyes. A light rain came over and soon stopped, making the scenery even more beautiful and vibrant. I felt much more comfortable and felt quite good, which made me want to shout loudly. It's so beautiful! It's so comfortable! Walking to the magnificent Chongqing Yangtze River Bridge, standing on the bridge, my horizons are broadened. The scenery is very beautiful, and I feel that everything is so beautiful. What is there not to be satisfied with?
13: Around 00, I arrived at the Hui Xiang Zhai restaurant, ate mixed noodles, went to the hotel to pick up my backpack, took the subway to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, checked in and went through security checks, and arrived at the waiting hall at 15:40.
16: Boarding at 30, arriving at Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport at 18:30, taking the 19:30 bus back to Linxia, arriving at one's own home around 22:00.
summary Some people say that traveling alone is lonely, taking a train or a flight alone; Eating, sleeping, and walking alone in a strange place; Watching the scenery alone, watching the sunrise and sunset; Yeah, traveling alone can be really lonely, but it's very comfortable. There's an indescribable elegance, no need to worry about others' feelings, being at ease with whatever you want, leaving whenever you want, stopping whenever you want, filming recklessly, listening to music, drinking milk tea, looking at the scenery, sitting quietly in a quiet place, feeling the charm of a strange city, enjoying one's own space, experiencing one's own joy, and it's also a beautiful thing in life. People! Sometimes it's time to embark on a solo trip, to experience the excitement of traveling alone, to change one's thinking, to cleanse one's heart, to broaden one's perspective, and to perfect one's life. The trip to Chongqing alone lasted seven days. The main attractions were Hongya Cave, Monument to the people's Liberation, Ciqikou, etc., Chongqing noodles, and Muslim rites in Chongqing. The total cost was 2022 yuan, including 860 yuan for transportation, 805 yuan for accommodation, 305 yuan for catering, and 52 yuan for admission to the scenic spot. The transportation is by plane and train, and accommodation is mainly based on convenience for travel. All ticket purchases, accommodation, etc. are made through online booking, online payment, and mobile payment. Although some cash was brought before departure, it was almost unused. Overall, I feel that this trip has achieved the expected results, full of happiness, but there are also some small regrets. I didn't meet any Chongqing beauties, didn't taste authentic Chongqing hotpot, and didn't fully enjoy some attractions.
Afterword The solo trip to Chongqing has finally been completed. In fact, it is not a travelogue, but a brief introduction to the places I have been to. I have made a record of the length of time, routes, transportation, and accommodation I spent visiting these places, mixed with some personal feelings and insights, which can only be considered as a travel itinerary. The reason why I spend a lot of time and energy writing such things is mainly to improve my travel quality, perfect my travel, and combine my sensory and spiritual enjoyment. On the other hand, making such records is also a simple reference for fellow travelers who also love traveling. Even if only one person finds it useful, I am very pleased.
