When buying a train ticket to Chengdu before the start of the school year, my boyfriend suggested that we go to Chongqing and take a look at the recently popular Hongyadong and the light rail passing through buildings. So he left two days early and booked a high-speed train ticket to Chongqing.
In fact, the scenic spots in the urban area of Chongqing are relatively close. If arranged reasonably, we can check in at four or five scenic spots in a day. When making our guide, we also consulted local friends and asked them to recommend some scenic spots that are suitable for photography, have local characteristics, but are not fancy tourist attractions. So there is this compact and non tiring itinerary arrangement:
Ciqikou → Liziba → Chongqing Tiandi → Hongyadong
Arrived in Chongqing on September 29th
Arrived in Chongqing at 7 pm on the 29th and went directly to the hotel, which was located near the Shapingba Light Rail Station and not far from various locations.
The next day was the true beginning of the journey. I left at ten o'clock in the morning and checked my luggage in the hotel.
First stop: Magnet port
The first stop is to clock in at the magnetic checkpoint. It only takes three stops from Shapingba, then take the light rail and walk a short distance to reach the ancient town. I have long heard that Ciqikou is not divided into holidays and workdays. Although I was mentally prepared, I was still shocked when I went to the scenic area. The day we went was on Friday, but it was still crowded with people.
Before we even got close, we smelled the aroma of various foods. As we hadn't had breakfast, our saliva kept swirling in our mouths. Along the way, I saw several shops selling handmade sour and spicy noodles vigorously shouting. This is the first time I've seen this freshly made sour and spicy noodles, it looks really tempting!
We first asked for two bowls of hot and sour powder to fill our stomachs. Q played enough and it was really delicious. We went out and bought glutinous glutinous rice cake and mango cups. We saw many people queuing to buy Fried Dough Twists. We wanted to take some back to our roommates to eat. Finally, we were too lazy to queue.
Before coming here, we thought Ciqikou was just a food street, but when we arrived, we realized that there were still many art shops and small bars. If we have plenty of time, sitting here for half a day is also a good choice.
Second stop: Liziba
It is very convenient to travel from Ciqikou to Liziba, with direct bus access, which is also a rare scenic spot that does not require long queues.
It has to be said that the scenic spots are magical, and the cultural landscapes are even more magical. All tourists on the observation deck are in the same posture, holding their phones and looking up at the sky at a 45 degree angle, waiting for the arrival of the light rail. Looking down on the light rail would be even funnier, "my boyfriend joked at the time," There is absolutely no cervical spondylosis that Liziba cannot cure
I stayed at this station for a short time, took a few random photos of the light rail passing through the building and the river view, and then went to the next station.
Third stop: Chongqing Tiandi
This site is a niche attraction recommended by local friends. At first, we thought it was just an ordinary shopping mall and were not interested, but after searching for guides, we found that the literary tone here is indeed unique. After experiencing it firsthand, we found that it really didn't disappoint!
From Liziba by bus, you can see the Chongqing Tiandi logo on the graffiti wall from afar, which is bold and unique. It is said to be a commercial park, but in fact, it is more like a cultural and creative park, definitely a popular destination for literary and artistic youth.
After taking a drink and exiting through the side door, there is a resting area with a small bridge and flowing water at the entrance. The water in the pond is very clear, and there is also a pond of koi fish. On the pool is the iconic landscape here, the Double Happiness Bell Tower, with two letters of joy stacked with bricks and stones on the wall. According to the introduction, during certain festivals, the bell tower will also open bell chimes for blessings, double happiness+koi, which is truly a very auspicious meaning.
Walk up along a large area of buildings and green plants that are staggered in height, and there are many delicious foods hidden inside. This hotpot restaurant has a very interesting entrance, with a bit of a water soaked Liangshan feeling. At first glance, we decided to eat it tonight! There are still some cafes and private restaurants to choose from when walking inside.
Along the way, graffiti comic walls can be seen everywhere, without a single wall being identical. They are interesting and have a sense of design, with extremely high color saturation, making any photo very stylish.
The internet celebrity creative wall also has a great attitude!
This amazing sculpture can be said to be very vivid!!
Going further inside is a commercial building with five or six floors, offering clothing, dining, and entertainment. If you have plenty of time, you can stroll through each floor. The metal balls hanging from the roof and the plants hanging from the walls are intertwined, creating a great sense of design.
In such an exquisite small shop, there is actually a hair salon. I really want to know what kind of mood it feels to do hairstyles inside~
This coffee book bar looks very stylish, with bookshelves filled with original books, pillows and sofas nearby, making it comfortable to have a cup of coffee and read books.
There are many old brick antique buildings in Chongqing Tiandi, and the building at the entrance is modeled after Chongqing stilted houses, which has a charming charm.
And Chongqing is truly a mountain city, where you can't go anywhere without stairs up and down, various colored stairs, and winding paths. For someone like me who has a poor sense of direction, it's like walking in a maze. Although it's a bit convoluted, it's definitely perfect for taking photos. Pairing it with a DSLR and leaving enough time will definitely create a perfect set of beautiful photos. However, I brought a teammate who couldn't take photos, so I had to take more pictures of the scenery myself~
There are groups of small pigeons at the entrance, who are not afraid of people at all. There are also pigeon food vending machines and small houses next to them, knocking cute! But unexpectedly, a bear child came over and scared away all the pigeons, luckily he was stopped by the security uncle in time!!
We were originally planning to take another stroll, but our boyfriend was hungry and it was getting late. So we went to the hotpot restaurant we saw before, which was the old hotpot restaurant with eight pieces of hotpot soup. The decoration of the restaurant is antique and not as noisy as many hot pot restaurants.
Although we have also tried a lot of hotpot in Chengdu, the taste of this restaurant is quite surprising. The slightly spicy hotpot bottom is spicy enough, and it won't be salty in the end. My boyfriend and I are both carnivores, so we ordered a table of meat. The eight pieces of special water are made up of beef tongue, tripe and other parts, with a soft and elastic taste. My boyfriend loves it very much, and the spicy beef with fire is so spicy that I drank half a bottle of Wei Yi.
Hot pot requires potato slices to be blanched for a few seconds to eat, ordering two portions is not enough! But my favorite is rock sugar balls, which are sweet and not greasy. In the end, I also took over my boyfriend's bowl, and this stop ended with plenty of food and drink.
Last stop: Hongyadong
To avoid queuing up late, we cleverly took a taxi from Chongqing Tiandi and waited under Hongyadong until nightfall. Although there were still many people, we didn't queue for long.
I have seen many videos of Hongya Cave on Tiktok before, but I was shocked when I saw them myself. All the scenes are wrapped in golden lights. The brilliant lights highlight Chongqing very dreamily, which is worthy of the reality version of "Spirited Away".
The suspended buildings built along the mountain vividly reflect the intricate 8D route of Chongqing. The Qiansimen Bridge next to it spans the Jialing River and is also a major highlight. But there are really too many people, and every photo was taken in between!
Inside Hongyadong, every floor is a street, and you can stroll through it layer by layer until you feel comfortable. Inside, there are local specialty products, as well as hotpot, snacks, and bars with everything you need. But there are really too many people.
The next day, I woke up naturally in the hotel and returned to Chengdu. In short, this trip to Chongqing was full of rewards. I checked in at popular tourist attractions and took a bunch of stunning photos at a niche cultural and creative park. Friends with plenty of time can really spend a good day exploring Chongqing Tiandi and definitely receive unexpected surprises.
And luckily, Chongqing has just cooled down these past few days. I heard it was hot a few days ago, but these days are neither too hot nor too cold, which is perfect for strolling around. Although the light is not good for taking photos on cloudy days, there are filters that don't scare me anymore!
