Wenwen Lu

One kilometer south of the south gate of the ancient city is the Wenxi Building, and the street in the middle is Wenxi Road. The word "literature" comes from "The Analects of Confucius"."There is insufficient literature." Zhu Xi explained: "Literature is classics, and dedication is virtuous." In the 40th year of Kangxi, the Yunnan prefect wrote a plaque "Famous State in Literature" for Dali, hanging under the eaves of the dysprosium building. This is why the Document Building got its name.
The document building built was a two-story Xieshan Mountain top with flying corner stone and wood structure, which was destroyed during the Anti-Japanese War. Legend has it that it was the place where Uncle Zhang and Sheng Lan used to live in the Western Han Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Sima Xiangru, a famous Ci writer, communicated with Southwest Yi, and Uncle Zhang and Sheng Lan from Ye Yu (Dali) went to Ruoshui, Sichuan to study Sinology and "returned to their villages." They brought Han culture to Dali more than 2,000 years ago. There is a long couplet written by Zhou Ren, a modern Dali literati: Dating back from the Han and Tang Dynasties, Uncle Zhang passed on the scriptures, Duke Du gave lectures, and Master Yan passed on Confucianism. Don't let the legacy of literature fade away from the new trend; Climb up the tower and look at the sunset on Jiuling, the road on Heqiao, and the journey to Xian 'an industry. I hope that the ancient country of Miaoxiang will always live in the big world. The Literature Tower spans the south on the passage into the ancient city of Dali. In the old days, willow trees were lined on both sides of the road, and they were the gateway for the government to welcome and see off dignitaries. The existing literature building was newly built in 1999. The simple and elegant Dysprosium Building has become a check-in place for modern young people to take classical wedding photos.
Qingshiban Road, with banyan trees on both sides, antique in the sun. Most of the Bailu houses on both sides are wood carving merchants. What is strange is that most of them have no signboards. There are a few rare wood carving signs: "Jianchuan Wood Carving","Longmen Carving", and "Shao Yifang". From a distance, it looks like a classical and chivalrous old alley. It is late autumn, the sun is shining, and the banyan trees are green under the blue sky. The hundred-year-old locust tree is still green. The aroma of incense from the "Emperor Wenchang" in the main temple in the alley on the side matches the pine flavor in the wood carving shop, making time slow down. As we approached the south gate, more and more people gradually became, and the wood carving shop became a snack bar, an inn, a silverware shop, and a flower cake shop. The commercial atmosphere is getting stronger.

Cangping Street

The south gate of the ancient city is always crowded. A hundred meters to the east, there is a road to enter the ancient city, Cangping Street. This name should have been around for some time, the wilderness at the foot of Cangshan Mountain. During the Nanzhao Taihe City period, the ancient city was the cottages and wilderness at the foot of Cangshan Mountain. The Taihe City Site and Nanzhao Dehua Monument are located in Taihe Village, about ten kilometers south. They are the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. The Nanzhao Dehua Stele in the site is a bit dilapidated, and the inscription cannot be clearly seen. After the Tianbao War, Luo Feng, the king of Nanzhao, was forced to betray the Tang Dynasty and surrender to Tubo. In order to explain that he had no choice but to betray the Tang Dynasty and establish himself to "block the reason for imperial transformation and be subject to the will of Xirong." According to legend, the inscription was written by Zheng Hui of Nanzhao, and was written by Du Guangting, the censor of Nanzhao in the Tang Dynasty. The calligraphy is elegant, the context is clear, the historical facts are detailed, and the calligraphy is fluent and straight, elegant and simple, elegant and lovely. It belongs to the masterpiece of the Tang Dynasty Monument. In the 14th year of the Tang Dynasty (779 AD), Luo Feng of the Nanzhao King Pavilion died and Yimu was established. The capital was moved from Taihe City to Yangjumee City, which is now the ancient city of Dali.
It is still a blue stone road, with a larger stone bar in the middle and stones of different sizes on both sides. There are many marbles, but I didn't know that "marble" referred to marble stones before. On the left are Bai folk houses, on the right are stone walls, and inside the high walls are troops, which is a bit mysterious. A large piece of bougainvillea green branch protrudes from the stone wall, dotted with rose-red flowers. It is very beautiful. Bougainvillea seems to bloom all year round. There is a kindergarten on the left, many years ago. The iron gate is old and the wall painting has become gray. There is an ancient camphor tree at the door with the sign saying "Dianpu", which is more than a hundred years old.
There are very few people on Cangping Street. At the end of the journey, the road turns into a T-shape, and the east-west road is still called Cangping Street. Dongtou is the Dali Bed Sheet Factory, a modern art district transformed from an abandoned factory building. There is a gallery, handicraft room, book bar, coffee room, etc. In the middle is a rock climbing area, and sometimes I encounter some foreign children climbing. On the left is the Dali Photography Museum, which has many old photos of the ancient city, which is worth a visit. There are often contemporary art exhibitions here, which is a gathering place for Dali artists. West leads to Fuxing Road, the commercial center of the ancient city.
Fuxing Road is the main road from South Gate to North Gate, Marshal Du Wenxiu's Mansion, Red Longjing, Wuhualou, Confucian Temple, Renmin Road, Foreign Street, North Gate. This road is crowded with people all year round. Du Wenxiu Mansion is the Dali Museum. I once explored the "Thirty-Six Rocks" outdoors in Wudang Mountain, and found a hidden rock house near the Changsheng Rock of the Five Dragon Palace, where the ancients practiced. There is a Ming Dynasty stone tablet inside, which records Li Yuanyang's cultivation here. Li Yuanyang, one of the "Xian" members of the "Famous Countries in Literature", was a member of the Bai nationality. In 1526 (the fifth year of Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty), he was first awarded the title of Hanlin and Liao as the first literati in Dali. He donated money to rebuild the Hongsheng Temple Pagoda and the Third Pagoda. There are several inscriptions on Li Yuanyang and his epitaph in the forest of steles in Marshal Du Wenxiu's mansion. Li Yuanyang's tomb is in the Three Pagoda Scenic Area of Chongsheng Temple. Legend has it that his birthplace was in the ancient city. There is a record at the junction of Huguo Road and Yuer Road. The author is obviously not familiar with the ancient city. The two roads are parallel and how do they intersect? I walked through almost all the streets and alleys of the ancient city, but I couldn't find his birthplace.

Yincang Lu

Walking east along Foreign Street, Dali No. 1 Middle School is not far away, which has gradually left the commercial center. There is the former site of Xiyuan Academy in Dali No. 1 Middle School, with famous inscriptions such as "Zhongsong Stele" and "Imperial Stele". There is a "Sincerity Well" next to No. 1 Middle School, which conveys ancient legends of Dali. Dali is a place with beautiful water, grass and wind. There are evil ghosts Raksha who do evil things and are subdued by Guanyin. Due to its remote location, no one came. One day, a pair of brother and sister came here and opened up a home, finally finding a ridge of plain land. Guanyin was moved by the two men's sincerity, so she chose Shuanghe Dianhua to become husband and wife, and used a tin staff to build the ground into a sweet nectar well. With the well as the center, the two of them pushed soil and built a house to live. They have thrived from generation to generation, forming a prosperous market for generations. Residents in the city drank and washed ancient wells to live in peace. Later generations felt it was called the "Sincerity Well". In order to remember the sincerity of our ancestors, and to inspire the style of integrity in future generations. A new stone carving of the ancestors was built next to the ancient well, and the stone carving is facing Xinmin Road. Follow Xinmin Road and pass Dali Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, pass through Yuer Road, Dali Second Primary School, and Yincang Road is next to the old house next to the Second Primary School. In the middle of winter, there is white snow on the top of Cangshan Mountain, which is Yincang. It is late autumn now, and there is no snow on Cangshan. Yincang Road is regarded as an old street in the ancient city, with convenience stores, grocery stores, hair salons, clothing stores, pharmacies, and some clothing stalls for sale on the roadside. There are few tourists on the road, most of them are locals.
There is a shop on the roadside that makes keys and repairs watches. The owner is a stubborn old man. When I first came to Dali, I was going to get several door keys. Unfortunately, I found several shops in Xiaguan City, but I couldn't get it for 30 yuan each, and I couldn't find the key blanks. When I saw this house in Ancient City Old Street that day, I quickly found key blanks. They cost 15 yuan each, which made me very excited to have two! The key was not easy to match and there were many processes. I sat in the store and waited. It was spring, and the sun was still shining brightly, shining on the iron pot hanging on the eyebrow of the grocery store opposite. It was shining and a little dazzling. Outside the grocery store, there are iron pickles, hoes, barbecue ovens, and white charcoal. The grocer was sitting at the door knocking on the tin sheet. The sun shone into the somewhat messy grocery store, and we leisurely enjoyed the passage of time in the old city. After finishing the last process, the old man held it and looked at it in the light, and his expression suddenly showed dissatisfaction. He picked up the inlay on the table and simply cut the matched key!
"I can't deserve it!"
"Doesn't it look good? Let me take it back and try it first!"
The old man said nothing and began to do other work. I couldn't bear to watch him spend half a day in vain. I bought the remaining keys for 5 yuan each and it was useless for him to keep them. Dali people are simple and honest, but they are a little stubborn.
The sun shone on the glazed vase at the entrance of the pottery shop, shining brightly. The clusters of bamboo forests and eaves of residential houses cast their shadows on the bluestone slabs, swaying in the breeze. I like to walk slowly in this lazy time, as if walking towards the past.

Pingding Road

Going east along Yincang Road, Guangwu Road is not far away. There is an old house there, the former residence of Yang Jie, a patriotic general. The old house built in the Qing Dynasty is a cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan Province, but the door is always closed. Going north, after walking through Dali Kindergarten, you will find Pingding Road, which is parallel to Yincang Road. It is also an old street, with more snack bars and B & Bs than Yincang Road. There is a canteen there, the canteen of the 60th Central Hospital. The box lunch of two meats and two vegetables is only 12 yuan. The hospital is a military hospital, a third-level and second-level hospital, and the largest hospital in the ancient city.
The junction of Pingping Road and Fuxing Road is a Christian church built in the Qing Dynasty. It is still in the style of Bai folk houses, except for the cross on the top and the row of spires of windows, which is somewhat Gothic. The ancient city has diverse religions, including Nanmen Mosque, Ximen Mosque, Catholic Church, and Praxian Temple. The Catholic Church was founded in the Republic of China in the alley in the middle of Renmin Road. Standing at the entrance of the Catholic Church and looking at the church inside, it is very beautiful under the blue sky. Except for the cross, it is still in the style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Those flying corners look a little ethereal, and the faint sound of chanting can be heard. Only when you walk in will you realize that it is the sound of reading from Dali No. 4 Middle School, which was originally a private "Dali Private Yucheng Primary School" of the Catholic Church.
When Pingding Road passes through Fuxing Road, it is not straight. It is staggered south and continues upwards. Crossing Boai Road is the Beimen Vegetable Market. The Beimen Vegetable Market is also a crowded place. If the city management officers do not dispatch that day, the roadside will be full of stalls selling vegetables and flowers. Most of the owners of the stalls are local elderly people. I like to buy groceries at street stalls, and I have fun bargaining with old people and old ladies! That day, the old lady by the bridge placed some cabbage at 1.5 yuan each. I said I would take three cabbages for one yuan, but the old lady agreed and couldn't pay with her mobile phone. She had cash. Found 3 yuan from the inner pocket of her coat and gave it to her, and the transaction was completed. Walking from the bridge to the intersection of National Highway 214, I was about to cross the road and was caught up by the old vegetable seller. She had 100 yuan in her hand and told me that it fell out when I had just paid for it. I took the money and looked at her wrinkled face, feeling a little shocked. She sets up a stall for a maximum of tens of yuan a day, and she grows her own food. I regretted that I still bargained with her. I watched her stumble back and continue selling vegetables, and I wanted to cry with guilt.

March Street

"Dali has a beautiful scenery in March". In the singing of those beautiful Bai girls, I suddenly felt a faint sadness. I don't know why.
Get out of the mountains and rivers and head north from Dali University along Cangshan Avenue. On the left is the continuous Cangshan Mountain, and on the right you can see the Erhai Lake far away. Walking through the Baihe River Bridge is the side door of Tianlong Babu Film and Television City. There is a dirt road that leads to the Hongsheng Temple Tower. The Hongsheng Temple Pagoda is a national key cultural relic protection unit. The iron gate has always been closed. The nearly 50-meter-high pagoda built during the Dali Dynasty looks lonely. As both national cultural relics protection units, the Three Towers of Chongsheng Temple are 5A-level scenic spots, and countless people pay homage to the Chihiro Tower every day. However, the Hongsheng Temple Pagoda has a difficult brother Fotu Temple Pagoda. It was located in Yangping Village, Xiaguan. It was a national key cultural relic protection unit during the Nanzhao period. This snake bone tower, which commemorates hero Duan Chicheng, is also almost unvisited.
Walking through the Zhonghe River Bridge is Sanyue Street. The road up the mountain leads to the main entrance of Tianlong Babu Film and Television City and Cangshan Ximatan Cableway Station. Xima Tan is the place where Wu Bilie, the founder of the Yuan Dynasty, washed horses on the top of Cangshan Mountain. It is not a legend that Sanyue Street Street has the Ping Yunnan Monument of Yuan Shizu, which is also a key national cultural relic protection unit. The stele is a little dilapidated. Like the Nanzhao Dehua stele, it is difficult to see the inscription on it. Cheng Wenhai, Hanlin, wrote an article praising the sacred virtue of Yuan Shizu in conquering Yunnan and unifying southern Yunnan.
It is difficult to imagine the glory of March Street, which is a street in thousands of years.
Black silk handkerchief and crested shoes are gathered together in groups on the Moon Street.
Go burn incense beside the Guanyin Stone, and buy goods in front of the Yuanzu Monument.
In the tenth year of Zhenyuan of Tang Dezong (794 AD), the sixth generation king of Nanzhao, Yimouxun, met with Cui Zuoshi, the envoy of Tang Dynasty, at the Cangshan Shrine. They made iron scrolls in four copies, vowing to be friendly to the Tang Dynasty from generation to generation. In order to commemorate this important day, Yimou told the people to hold a gathering in the square in front of the Cangshan Shrine on March 15th every year. Where is the Cangshan Shrine? Not on the map. I walked through all the alleys around March Street, from Shimen Village in the south to Wenbi Village next to the Three Towers in the north, but couldn't find it. Until one day, a villager told me that he was in the army at the foot of Zhonghefeng Mountain. I found the troops on the edge of the mountain in Zhonghe Village, and the sentry guarding the gate let me in. The building dates from the Ming and Qing Dynasties and is a key cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan. In addition to its thousand-year-old name, it has now become a temple that few people visit in the military zone.
The lunar calendar starts on the second day of each month and comes every seven days. There is a March Street market day every week. Every year on the 15th day of the third lunar month, Cangshan Avenue runs from Baihexi Bridge to Sanyue Street, and Sanyue Street to Cangshan Gate in the ancient city. Steel frames are used to set up shops on the roadside and on the open space of Sanyue Street to start the week's grand ceremony. There are a crowd of people. As Xu Xiake wrote in "Diary of a Travel to Yunnan":"All the sheds are the market, and there are many circles... Men and women are mixed together, and they cannot distinguish each other... Everything from the thirteen provinces comes, and everything from all the barbarian things in central Yunnan comes." Thousands of years have passed, and things have changed, and March Street still adheres to its historical traditions.
