Today is the last day in Dali. I have arranged to visit Chongsheng Temple in the morning and will fly back to Shanghai in the afternoon. We first visited the Buddhist Capital of Chongsheng Temple. The tour guide led us into the Ancestral Hall, which houses the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism. Zen is the largest sect of Buddhism in China. Zen believes that people have Buddha nature and aims to realize the inherent Buddha nature of all living beings. It is also the most widely spread Han Buddhism.
After seeing the Ancestral Hall, we went to visit the Acuoye Guanyin Pavilion. It happened that it was raining outside. Everyone went in the rain with umbrellas and came to the door of the Guanyin Pavilion. There was a sculpture of the Nine Dragons Bath Buddha in front of the door. It is said that the sculpture is a magical story. It tells the story of nine dragons in the sky spitting out perfume and bathing the prince on the birthday of Buddha Lord Sakyamuni.
We entered the Guanyin Pavilion and climbed up the wooden ladder. The gilded Guanyin Buddha statue on the right stood tall and looked resplendent. The slender lines outline a soft figure, which is full of art. We climbed the platform of Guanyin Pavilion and looked at the panoramic view of the Buddha Capital Palace. The overall layout was extraordinary; the golden tiles and red walls shone brightly to highlight the momentum of the Royal Buddha Capital of Dali Kingdom. We returned to the bottom floor of Guanyin Pavilion and looked up at the statue of Guanyin with a feeling of worship. The Buddha statue looked kind and amiable, as if it was saving all living beings.
We walked out of Guanyin Pavilion and went to the Temple of Eminent Monk. The Temple of Eminent Monk carries many bizarre stories from Dali Kingdom. The Tianlong Temple described in Jin Yong's novel "Eight Parts of the Dragon" is now Chongsheng Temple. According to historical records, nine kings abdicated as monks in the Dali State. These nine kings were enshrined in the temple. You can imagine the extent to which Buddhism was prevalent at that time.
Then we visited the Daxiong Hall. The Daxiong Hall is the largest palace in the Buddhist capital. The Buddha statue of Sakyamuni is enshrined in the hall. Its appearance is like the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City in Beijing and is tall and heroic. It can be said to be the largest Buddhist temple in the country. one. Then we browsed the Five Hundred Arhats, Guanyin Hall, Maitreya Hall, Tianwang Hall, etc. After touring the entire Buddha City, we came out and rushed to the most famous Three Pagoda attractions of Chongsheng Temple.
