Since I came to Guangzhou three years ago, I have been thinking about it forever. The food, humanities, and Cantonese that I love to listen to... Guangzhou is really a rare place for me every time I talk about this city, I have a special nostalgia.
When I first came here, I wandered around Shangxiajiu for several days, and I especially liked the food culture and folk customs of Laoxiguan and Lingnan here.
In early December, I finally returned to Guangzhou again. It was really exciting! This city where people can keep "eating until they come out of the wall" has a particularly charming Cantonese, morning tea, sugar water, Cantonese opera... There are so many reasons for me to come back.
Because of a friend's recommendation, I stayed at Guangzhou Garden Hotel. It is the only platinum five-star hotel in South China with a history of more than 30 years. Moreover, the location is very convenient. On Huanshi East Road, Yuexiu District, when you come out of the Taojin Station of Metro Line 5, you turn around and see the hotel. The appearance is super grand. You don't know, one night I was at the entrance of the hotel, and two foreigners asked me to help them take tourist photos against the hotel building!
Strong traditional Chinese cultural heritage
Walking into the lobby, the ceiling at the top of the center is decorated with a "Golden Dragon Playing with Beads" caisson. It consists of square columns with bright patterns and wood carvings and gold-plated dragons. The pattern is modeled on the roof of the ancient Chinese royal palace.
Then in the center of the front of the lobby is a large gold-inlaid mural with the theme of "Dream of the Red Chamber", which depicts the life interest of the twelve beauties of Jinling and the prosperous scenes of the Grand View Garden. It is said to be the most representative cultural and artistic work of the Garden Hotel. It was made by more than 30 carvers. It took more than 7 months. A total of 200,000 pieces of gold foil (weighing 2 kilograms) were inlaid when the mural was built.
Opposite this mural is the stone murals with the style of Guangdong water towns, depicting the simple and peaceful life of the southern water towns.
In the lotus pond pavilion in the lobby, there is a 4-meter-high gold-decorated statue-the statue of Marshal Liu, which is regarded as the patron saint of the hotel. Reprinted in the Ancestral Temple in Foshan, Guangdong, it is a symbol of Lingnan totem culture.
Photo check-in point-rotating wooden staircase
On the northeast side of the lobby, the ancient Greek Ionic style rotating wooden staircase is really so touching. Put on a cheongsam and you will be able to produce more films!
Executive Cantonese Room with Integration of Chinese and Western Elements
After checking in, I went up to the 17th floor to check in the executive Cantonese room I specially selected.
Through the Chinese screen when you enter the door, the "Guangzhou Daily" is placed on the desk, and Chinese-style art murals are hanging on the wall, giving you a sense of preservation of tradition.
On the coffee table in front of the window, there are prepared welcome refreshments and exquisite small cards, which are particularly heart-warming.
The window overlooks the city.
Walking into the bedroom, the design style of the entire room is modern and integrated with traditional Cantonese culture. Various artistic elements are cleverly used to make the entire room look simple and fashionable, and the Chinese classics reveal a foreign flavor. I like it very much.
I sleep in such a big bed alone. I'm so happy, haha.
Next to it is a bathroom with a large bathtub for taking a bath.
What should also be mentioned is that the chair equipped with the desk is really super comfortable to sit on. It is a customized template from abroad and meets the anthropological needs.
Creative fusion dish-Taoyuan Restaurant
At noon, I ate at the hotel's Chinese restaurant Taoyuan Hall. The environment is very Chinese. The murals on the wall are portraits of the Three Kingdoms. Even the private rooms are named after people from the Three Kingdoms. It seems to have traveled through the Three Kingdoms period...
Jungle duck·Hot spring egg, fresh ginseng stewed with orange gravy, glass chicken with caviar, beef with golden garlic, Taibai drunken shrimp, olive tea seed oil red rice, double skin milk, egg tarts...
Every dish has a unique flavor of Guangzhou, but it also has a Western-style delicacy.
The most beautiful old street in Guangzhou: Yongqingfang
The second time I have come to Guangzhou, I still have a feeling of Liwan. So in the afternoon, take Metro Line 1 from the hotel entrance to Huangsha Station and walk to Yongqingfang, the most beautiful old street in Guangzhou.
The roof tiles of Laoxiguan have green bricks, red brick walls, gray carvings, colored sculptures, literary and artistic shops... Ancient culture is integrated with modern times.
Walking into the Cantonese Opera Art Museum, watching Lingnan style culture and art, listening to a Cantonese opera, slowing down, as if traveling through that era...
Tips: Remember to bring your ID card! Admission to the Cantonese Opera Museum is free, but an ID card is required.
Yongqingfang Address: No. 99, Enning, Liwan District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province
The carvings of the Chen Family Temple tell the story of Lingnan culture
When I came to Guangzhou before, I lived near the Chen Family Temple, but I didn't have time to walk in and experience a kind of Lingnan culture. This time we must make up for our previous regrets.
The biggest artistic expression of the Chen family ancestral hall is carving and colored sculpture. These artistic expressions incorporate many cultural stories, fairy stories, and cultural elements with various meanings into them to express various expectations and hopes.
There are too many stories that you must witness with yourself to feel the charm of history and culture.
Tips: Better bring your ID card! Otherwise, I can't get in ~

Liwan Pavilion: Sitting in a flower boat is like being on the banks of Liwan River
After returning to the hotel in the evening, we had dinner at Li Wan Ting. At that time, I also went to the Lingxuan Pavilion Revolving Restaurant on the 30th floor to take a look. Of course, it was very high-quality and the dishes were also very rich.
Because I couldn't get back on the buffet with my small appetite, I finally chose Liwan Pavilion, which is very popular among old Guangzhou people, to eat authentic Guangzhou food.
As soon as I walked into the restaurant, I was fascinated by the environment. I loved it so much!!!
The entrance to the Liwan Pavilion is surrounded by wooden oars, and is planted with simulated lychee trees and watermelon sheds are planted around the hall.
I feel like I am in this night, on the banks of Liwan River, sitting in a flower boat, drinking boat porridge, eating shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, steamed ribs... admiring the sparkling and charming night.
The tables and chairs used in the restaurant are all traditional Lingnan wooden tables, benches or bamboo chairs. It is really a distinctive theme restaurant.
Waterfall View Cafe: Garden Breakfast
The next morning, enjoy breakfast at the Waterfall View Cafe where a ray of morning sunshine shines in. Through the glass window, you can see the scenery in the garden and the flowing waterfalls. You can also sit outside in the garden and directly bathe in the sun., breathe the fresh air...
The overall atmosphere and food of the restaurant are Western.
Stroll in the back garden of the hotel
After breakfast, take a walk in the hotel's back garden. It's really hard to imagine that a hotel's back garden in the city center has more than 10,000 square meters! Large murals, rockery, running water, waterfalls, pavilions, green vegetation... Walking in a Chinese-style courtyard and walking along tree-lined paths, it's really exciting...
Internet celebrity restaurants must check in: Mingshi Pavilion
As a white fan, this popular French restaurant Mingshi Pavilion is really irresistible!!
The interior decoration is pure white, with wine cabinet walls, high-legged tables, grand pianos... The retro decoration makes you take a photo of it full of style!
Many people celebrate birthdays and anniversaries here, but I think if you want to have a higher movie rate, it's better to go there during the day and book a window seat.
The food was also delicious and good-looking! I ate the lunch set meal and chose crab meat pieces and avocado rolls, lobster soup, paper-wrapped silver cod, and tiramisu. The taste was very good and worth a try.
