In spring, a hundred flowers compete for beauty, and in autumn, thousands of mountains are red. Nature is a magical color market that always showcases its beauty. Xixi is very big, and I have been to Hangzhou four or five times in four or five years. I haven't assembled a complete one yet. Xixi is very lively, and there are many festivals throughout the year. It seems that I haven't watched all of them. Autumn has always been here, but it has never been searched for. When I walked all the way into Zhoujia Village in Xixi with my camera on my back, I realized that the impression of Xixi Wetland was a bit profound.

Xixi has "Three Embankments and Ten Scenic Spots":

I calculated by myself, as if I had walked through the three embankments but couldn't remember anything. As for the ten scenic spots, I only saw a few, and then a few days ago, I went to the Autumn Snow Temple and truly saw the flying snow on the autumn reeds. If you want to see everything, I don't think even locals may have seen everything. For tourists, it takes time to come many times and great luck to see everything. This time, we entered the Xixi Wetland from the main entrance of Zhoujia Village. Every early November, the Tinglu Festival is held here, attracting tourists from all over the country. Naturally, many photography enthusiasts come here to take photos and record, and I am one of them.

About Xixi Wetland Tourism

The Xixi Wetland is very large with many entrances and exits, and Zhoujia Village is the main entrance for visiting the Xixi Wetland. There are only two ways to visit the Xixi Wetland: land and water, which are walking and taking a boat. The ships here are divided into electric scooters and paddle boats. Electric boats can take photos of the main attractions in Xixi, and the attractions are connected by waterways to form a tourist route, including Zhoujia Village, Yanshui Fishing Village, Shentankou, and Jiaolutian Village. During this year's Lu Ting Festival, Xixi has specially opened a "Lu Ting Special Line". You can take an electric boat from Zhoujia Village and directly go to Autumn Snow Temple to enjoy the Lu Ting. Of course, you can follow the rowing boat through the winding waterways, listen to the gentle sound of the wind blowing through the reeds, and experience the unique characteristics of Xixi, where "one stream, one smoke."..

The reeds in Xixi are divided into three varieties: silver, bamboo, and reeds. Most of them are concentrated around the Autumn Snow Temple. When the autumn wind blows, the reeds here are like snowflakes covering the beach. With the water waves spreading, they blend up and down, truly like houses on the reeds and boats entering the reeds.

Autumn Snow Temple

Autumn Snow Temple was first built during the reign of Chunxi of the Song Dynasty (1174-1189) and was originally named "Da Sheng Temple". In the late Ming Dynasty, the Shen brothers in Xixi reorganized their buildings and invited famous monks to reside in the temple; At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Chen Jiru took the poetic title of "Autumn Snow Temple" from the Tang Dynasty's poem "Autumn Snowy Fishing Boat". During the Republic of China period, it was renovated by the renowned scholar Zhou Qingyun (styled Mengpo) from Nanxun.

There is a ancestral hall for two Zhejiang poets in Qiuxue Temple, which is the only place in China to worship poets and also the best place to appreciate autumn listening reeds in Xixi. Qiuxue Temple is located in the central water area of Xixi Wetland, surrounded by water on all sides. It used to be accessible only by rowing a small boat. During the Tinglu Festival, the Xixi Wetland opened a dedicated line for appreciating the reeds. Starting from Zhoujia Village by electric boat, a boat departs every 30 minutes to directly go to the Autumn Snow Temple to appreciate the autumn Tinglu.

On the day of the opening ceremony of the Lu Festival, we also saw a sacrificial ceremony and children reciting poems about the reeds together.

Autumn is colorful. In addition to the white reeds around it, there are also golden ginkgo decorations in the Autumn Snow Temple, which are green, yellow, red, and white. Coupled with the constant flow of tourists, it makes this place lively and extraordinary.

There have always been many praises about reeds

In autumn, Xixi Creek will snow. Of course, this is not real snowflake, but rather the 360 acre reed marshes of reeds. The reeds dance like snow, very beautiful. Regarding the beauty of reed flowers, ancient literati also generously praised them.

After arriving in Xixi, the Qing Dynasty writer Zhang Dai was greatly impressed. Zeng Shuwen described: "There is an Autumn Snow Temple in the area, a field of reeds, with the bright moon reflecting on it, as white as autumn snow. It is a magnificent sight."
The great literary figure Yu Dafu also had a great love for Xixi. "The best season to appreciate the reeds is in October of the lunar calendar, when the reeds will turn completely white. It would be even better to appreciate them under the moonlight." "The best season to appreciate the reeds is now," he said.

That day when I came to Qiuxue Temple, I happened to see a group of children learning to write poetry under the guidance of their teacher. They recited praises for the reeds in their childish voices.
Autumn has arrived,
The little bird flew away,
The reeds have turned white,
The leaves have fallen,
Please step into the vast stage of autumn,
Let's see together how reeds turn white,
Go see why the birds fly away,
Go see why the leaves fall,
Go listen to the sound of the flute in the reeds,

Every child has a different autumn in their eyes, with different reeds. Perhaps they are not very clear about what reeds are, but from their perspective, autumn is magical and colorful. So for adults, sometimes letting go of the rush of life and stopping to see this fleeting autumn scenery is also a beautiful harvest, both sensory and psychological.

The most direct way to appreciate reeds - rowing boats

In addition to taking the "Appreciation of Lu Special Line" (electric boat) to reach the Danzhi Building of Qiuxue Temple to enjoy the beautiful scenery of "Autumn Lu Flying Snow", you can also take a rowing boat in Zhoujia Village to listen to the Autumn Appreciation of Lu. Kang Youwei once described the Autumn Snow Temple admiring the reeds, "The temple is in the middle of the water, surrounded by reeds on all sides. When the flowers bloom, the moon rises on the pavilion and one looks around, like a thousand hectares of white snow in an curling pot. When encountering the wind, the reeds dance like snowflakes in the sky.".

Riding on a paddle boat, leisurely shuttling through the fields of reeds, paddles flapping against the water, making some sounds. While drinking tea, listening to the wind blowing through the reeds, occasionally a few egrets startled to take off from the shallow shore, adding a touch of joy and excitement to this peaceful moment.

As the rowing boat swayed left and right, the body also adapted to this rhythm and stumbled into the depths of the reeds. Watching the swaying head of the reeds in the wind, it seemed like they were constantly waving and showing off their elegance. If you look closely, the white reeds are gentle and clean.

The entire Autumn Snow Temple is not large, independent of the wetland. Walking out of the Autumn Snow Temple, there are 360 acres of reeds surrounded by crisscrossing waterways that divide the reeds into small pieces. The paddles sway lightly and accidentally enter the depths of the reeds. The autumn wind suddenly rises, and the reeds sway like snow, swaying with the wind. I only hear a melodious and melodious flute sound coming from the depths of the reeds. When the sound gets closer, I see two beautiful women playing the pipa slowly and lightly on the Qiang flute, which perfectly complements the hundred acres of reeds.

Yanshui Fishing Village

The next one after leaving Qiuxue Temple is the Yanshui Fishing Village Pier. There are three main exhibition halls here, namely: the Story of Silkworms and Silk, the Xixi Wedding Customs Exhibition Hall, and the Xixi Family, which showcase the living conditions of the original residents, various items used by residents for weddings and weddings, daily necessities and folk customs of local residents, all of which are presented in the form of physical objects for everyone to understand. It is a very interesting and meaningful place.

Since the Tang Dynasty, Xixi has been known for its silkworms and has formed a unique landform called "Sangji Fish Pond" in the Xixi Wetland. Xixi has preserved the production and living scenes of sericulture farmers picking and raising silkworms, and the "Silkworm Silk Story" museum displays daily sericulture tools, as well as cocoon cooking, silk drawing, and textile tools. If you walk from Yanshui Fishing Village to Shentankou, you can find that there are many mulberry trees planted in the fields by the roadside, which should be raised by the original residents and are now mostly for ornamental purposes. For me, who used to raise silkworms myself when I was a child, although these are not unfamiliar, they are also a form of cognition that allows me to gain a deeper understanding of basic knowledge about silkworms, textiles, silk, and other aspects. The life of silkworms is also more specific.

The Xixi Wedding Customs Exhibition Hall is divided into five themed scenes: caring mothers, brides getting on sedan chairs, father and brother seeing off, tea and books, and couple worship.

You can vividly and concretely see the eye-catching red color, such as the red sedan chair, wedding hall, and bridal chamber, presenting the unique water town wedding customs of Xixi to tourists one by one. There is also a real-life water town wedding at Shentankou, which can give you some insight.

The Xixi people have well preserved the lifestyle of Xixi rural households, showcasing the unique folk culture of Xixi. Through the restoration and display of the original living scenes of Xixi residents, people not only appreciate the old folk customs of Xixi, but also protect and inherit its profound cultural heritage.

Among the three exhibition halls, my favorite is undoubtedly Xixi Family. What attracted me was not only the old-fashioned objects in the forest, but also the grass shoes woven by my grandfather himself. Taken from nature, hand woven and finally worn on the feet, although few people nowadays wear grass shoes, his skilled technique has also been weaving grass shoes for many years. Nowadays, he weaves grass shoes every day here and sometimes even sells them for silver.

I have a big fish pond in Xixi

Wearing bulky panties, carrying buckets, stepping on mud, during the Lu Festival, let's go fishing in the dry pond of Xixi Wetland together! Grass carp, bream fish, baotou fish... all come into the net pocket! Beating gongs, weighing, taking photos, with a strong sense of ceremony, and presenting you with the "Fish Pond Master" certificate. The price of Baotang is very favorable, 3880 yuan/pond, including admission fees for up to 30 people (additional tickets are required for those outside of 30), 30 sets of water pants provided, and a fish yield of no less than 150 pounds! The experience duration is about 1 hour, and the package must be booked one week in advance.

The land route from Yanshui Fishing Village to Shentankou

There are two ways to travel. I feel that although electric boats are fast, there are many things that cannot be seen in the cabin. Therefore, I chose to walk directly from Yanshui Fishing Village to Shentankou. Although it takes a lot of time, I can still see many different scenery. If you're willing to take the time to play, I feel like it's better to take a step on the ground. The scenery from Yanshui Fishing Village to Shentankou is still quiet and beautiful along the way.

There are also reeds, rowing boats, and a group of elementary school students practicing here. Of course, there is also a pool of residual lotus. It would be very beautiful if the lotus flowers were in full bloom in summer.

Shentankou Wharf

"Shentankou", also known as Shentangang, is a major center for showcasing folk culture in Xixi. According to the "Nanzhangzi", "Shentankou is not crossed by boats; when there is a dragon, it is unpredictable.".

This is the filming location for the movie "If You Are the One". Nowadays, the handcrafted boat that Ge You and Shu Qi used to ride on is still docked by the river. Tourists who like this movie can pay attention to it at the Shentankou Port.

There happens to be a water town wedding being performed on the ancient stage at Shentankou. Choosing an uncle and bride from among tourists to pay respects and get married can be both engaging and enjoyable. Although many scenic spots now offer similar recruitment projects, each place also has its own unique features.

Hezhu Street - Jiangcun Market

Hezhu Street and Jiangcun Market belong to the free open area of Xixi Wetland. Hezhu Street is a bustling commercial street with seven shops and eight shops selling Xixi's specialty snacks, souvenirs, and more. Here you can clock in "Xixi and stay", visit Jiang Xianggong Temple, Xixi Loong Boat Row Hall and other exhibition halls. Jiangcun Market is a slow living neighborhood in Xixi, where you can slow down and relax, savor authentic Xixi delicacies, or hold a cup of coffee and feel the long flowing water of time.

Looking down from over 100 meters, what does Xixi look like

Since owning a drone, I have loved God's perspective to the death. Wherever I go, as long as I am allowed to fly, I will fly up and overlook this land. Xixi now has high-altitude helium balloons, which can provide a 360 degree panoramic view of the wetland from a height of over 100 meters. You can see Hezhu Street, Shentankou, and the panoramic view of Xixi Wetland.
