5 kilometers away from Hangzhou's West Lake, it is a rare secondary wetland in the city. It was once called Hangzhou's "Three West" together with West Lake and Xiling. It is currently the first and only national wetland in China that integrates urban wetlands, agricultural wetlands, and cultural wetlands. Wetland park, with the reputation of "Hangzhou's Kidney" and "Sub-West Lake". It is also the filming location of the movie "If You Are the One".

When purchasing tickets at Tianmu Mountain Road (South Gate) in Zhoujia Village, you must enter this gate, which is the main gate. Although Tianmu Mountain Road is closed, it will not affect the entry and exit of vehicles. If it is a group tour bus, you must enter and exit through this gate. If you are a free travel guest, you can enter through this gate, but you can exit through the north gate exit. Walking in from the entrance of Zhoujia Village, you can see the big characters of this iconic stone "Xixi National Wetland Park" coming into view ~
South Gate of Xixi Wetland, Zhoujia Village

Enter the door and go straight to the Battery Boat Pier, and take a boat (or walk) directly to Yanshui Fishing Village. Then walk to the Jiangcun Slow Living Area for dinner. Guests who are not driving or in a group can directly exit from the North Gate Exit. If you are driving or in a group, you need to use your ticket stub to return to the scenic area. It takes about 20 minutes to get off the boat along the way to Gaozhuang and walk to Zhoujiacun Wharf Exit, or you can choose to take a boat directly to Zhoujiacun Exit.

The route we chose this time was Zhoujia Village-Baijialou_Yanshui Fishery Village-Xixi Renjia-Shentankou-Hezhu Street
There are two advantages to taking a boat. First, it is easy. People who are lazy and don't like to walk are most suitable. Some people may have knee injuries and cannot walk much. Taking a boat is recommended. Second, there are introductions along the boat.

If you are not afraid of getting tired, you can choose to walk from the entrance to Yanshui Fishery. The straight-line distance is about 2 kilometers, but it actually takes 40-60 minutes to walk. Depending on the walking speed of different people and taking photos on the road, the actual walking time will be affected. This period is worth visiting, the scenery is really comfortable. Two people are the most pleasant in the world.

A green and lush tree spread out in front of you. Walking along the stone path and crossing the small bridge, you can see the green water with two hands swinging a boat slowly. It's a leisurely and comfortable afternoon time.

Xixi Wetland is divided into two scenic spots: east and west. I inquired about the staff of the scenic area and learned that the essence of natural scenery is mainly in the eastern district, and the western district is newly developed. It was nearly noon when we arrived. The scenic spot is very big, and it is too late to visit all the east and west scenic spots that day. So I decided to visit the East District first today and come back later.

In addition to walking, the scenic area is mainly visited by boat. There are big boats with batteries and small boats with oars. The routes taken are also different, with large ships sailing on the main river in the scenic area. Starting from Zhoujia Village to Yanshui Fish Village, Shentankou, Jiaolu Tianzhuang, and finally returning to the starting point. Small boats walk in the inner river of the lake. We took a big boat sightseeing.

The boat was heading north along the winding river. On the way, the boat guide introduced us to the general situation of Xixi Wetland: "Hangzhou Xixi National Wetland Park is located in the west of Hangzhou City, about 6 kilometers away from Wulin Gate in the city center and about 5 kilometers away from the West Lake. It is a secondary wetland integrating urban wetland, cultural wetland and agricultural wetland.

I came to Baijialou, which was originally a dilapidated natural village near Zhoujia Village, Jiangcun Township. Near the original site, there are densely packed villages and buildings, crisscrossing rivers, rich vegetation, and a hidden and quiet environment. There were originally dozens of residential buildings in two rows, with many farmers living in it, hence the name Baijialou. Now there is a conference center and catering club built on the original site. On the day we went, there was also a company having a meeting and dinner there. It looked very good ~

Continue moving forward and reach the next stop-Yanshui Fishing Village. There are three exhibition halls to visit here, namely Xixi Wetland Wedding Customs Exhibition Hall, Xixi Family and Silkworm Silk Hall.

Yanshui Fish Village is located in the south of Yanshui Temple. It drew on the poetic conception of "Autumn Snow Fish Village" by Chen Wenshu, a literator of the Qing Dynasty, and took the three wonderful smokes of willow smoke, drinking tobacco, and hookah, and became famous.

The scenery along the way is beautiful. Willow trees are leaning against each other, flowers and trees are sparse, and bamboos are luxuriant. Following the stone steps, we walked into an old wooden structure house with three bays and two floors. There are three exhibition halls from left to right, which display folk culture such as silkworm silk, marriage customs, and Xizi family.

One of the ten scenic spots in Xixi, the location of the "Fishing Village Yanyu" has the beauty of "willow smoke, cloud smoke, and cooking smoke"

The upper and lower docks are not in the same place. After looking for the docks, the boat took us northeast and then east. We saw the blue waves on the lake and the trees on both sides. After the boat crossed the Chaotianmu Bridge, it arrived at Shentankou.
Shentankou is also known as Shentan Port. According to the records of Nanzhangzi, Shentankou cannot be crossed unless a boat is there; when I hear of dragons, the deep pool is unpredictable. Hence the name.

Another special feature of Shentankou is that in 2008, the movie If You Are the One was filmed at Shentankou. At that time, the actress Shu Qi's boat docked at the place where the dragon boat race was held in Shentankou. Now you can still see the signs of the boats and movies filmed at that time. Travelers who like this movie can go to Shentankou Pier to pay attention to it.

Near the end of Tankou, there are three large fragrant camphor trees with luxuriant branches and leaves that are more than 300 years old. The diameter of the tree is large, and it takes several people to surround it. Tourists took photos one after another, and I couldn't avoid the custom and also took a group photo with the tree. There is also a beautiful legend about camphor trees.

When families here give birth to a daughter, they plant a camphor tree, and when their daughter gets married, they make a camphor box as a dowry. The camphor wood box smells fragrant, and the clothes it contains can be permanently protected from insects.

The water here is open and deep. Local people hold dragon boat races here every year during the auspicious noon festival to pray for good weather and peace for the country and the people. The stone tablet engraved with the four characters "Dragon Boat Victory" when Emperor Qianlong went to the south of the Yangtze River witnessed the spectacular scene of sailors paddling wood pulp and trumpets on the lake during the dragon boat race, beating drums loudly, chasing each other and forging ahead.

At Shentankou, you can also walk to Hezhu Street, where food and goods are sold. The towering Hezhu Tower can climb high to watch the scenery. However, if you want to come back from Hezhu Street, you can only enter and exit once. If you want to see the tickets, you should pay more attention.

The restaurant next door was at the peak of dining at this time, and the diners were full. This restaurant is similar to Wufangzhai and has no stir-frying dishes. Listening to the growling stomach, I didn't want fresh fish anymore, so I quickly ordered noodles and small cages to fill my stomach.

This "Xixi Handmade Noodle Restaurant" built next to the water has a beautiful environment and good business. Adjacent to the noodle shop is the quietly standing Hezhu Tower. On the east side of the antique Hezhu Tower is the bustling downtown Hezhu River since ancient times, and on the west is the quiet and elegant Shenze Water Town.

Hezhu Tower was formerly known as the "Hanggong Tower" and was built during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, literati and scholars deeply admired the talents, character and career experiences of our late sage Hang Shijun, so they raised funds to build a stone pagoda in the Lihang Second Temple of Hezhu to commemorate it. It was originally called the "Hanggong Pagoda" and is now moved here.

The tower is about 15 meters high, with four layers of octagonal and eight cement columns forming the tower body. The tower body is transparent, and the eaves on the bottom floor are black and tiled eaves. The top and bottom of the tower are communicated by a turn-back wooden ladder. Through this turn-back wooden ladder, you can go up to the top of the tower. On the tower, there is a couplet written by the calligrapher Zhu Suizhi: a seat full of spring breeze to keep guests there; a boat of bright moon to cross people back.

Climb to the top of the tower and see the whole view of Xixi River. If you look southeast, the mountains you will see are the northern peak, and below the southern slope of the mountain peak is the West Lake. The two lakes are actually close at hand, with only a mountain peak separated by them, but the customs are still different. West Lake is like a lady from a big family, while Xixi is like a village girl, each with its own beauty.

Zhu Street is located in the east of Shentankou Village, Xixi. It is an ancient place name of Xixi Wetland. The restored Hezhu Street is about 300 meters long and is a place for tourists to relax and shop. It displays Xixi's unique folk culture and Xixi products.

The restored Hezhu Street embodies the theme of leisure, trade market, and sightseeing tourism of Xixi Wetland, and renders the leisurely, simple, elegant and exquisite Xixi culture. The buildings in the entire neighborhood follow the historical main line from the Ming Dynasty to the modern era, presenting different styles.

Some of the preserved houses on the street allow visitors to experience the cultural customs of Xixi. The window frames are exquisite. The local Xixi products are rich, including lotus seedlings, persimmons, pomegranate, saint fruits, oranges, pan persimmon, water chestnut, etc.

There is also a memorial wall on Hezhu Street with the words "Xixi and Leave" on the book. It is said that more than a thousand years ago, when Song Gaochong fled to Hangzhou, he was fascinated by the beautiful scenery of Xixi River,"a stream and a smoke". He wanted to build an imperial city here. Later, he found Phoenix Mountain, so he said,"Stay here in Xixi." This stay will become forever. So now Xixi is also called "staying".

Xixi Wetland has six main festivals throughout the year. The Dragon Boat Festival was introduced at Shentankou Wharf. In the recent February to March, there was the "Xixi Plum Searching Festival". Plum blossoms first bloom in spring. It sounds elegant to take a cruise ship to admire the sea of flowers and admire plum blossoms. The next March to April is the "Xixi Spring Festival". At this time, the Xixi Wetland is in full bloom. You can't miss the annual "Dragon Boat Festival" on the Lunar Dragon Boat Festival. From September to October of autumn, the persimmons are ripe and the "Xixi Fire Persimmons Festival" begins. From November to December, you can go to Qiuxue Nunnery to admire the reeds. Under the illumination of the autumn sun, the reeds shine golden on the water. It is known as "Xixi Reed Snow". Finally, it is a fisherman's journey that you can participate all year round. Take a rowing boat and experience how to arrange shrimp cages, gillnets, cast nets for fishing, and experience the fun of being a fisherman. Xixi has scenery worth appreciating all year round. No matter when you come, you can see the different beauty of Xixi Wetland.
