There is a terraced field made of stone in the underground world of Jiuxiang. The terraced fields are stacked on top of each other, sparkling and with different scenery. People believe that this can only be done by gods with boundless power, so they call it "Kanda." There is a stone turtle at the top of Kanda, but on the lower level, there is a stone carp shaking its head and waving its tail rushing out of the field ridge. Tortoise and fish are opposed to each other, which is very interesting. There is also a philosophical folk fable here.

Jiuxiang/Kanda

It is said that long, long ago, the divine turtles and carp from the South China Sea were tired of the bland ocean life and came up downstream to live in Kanda in Qiandao Lake in Jiuxiang. The same interests in life made them good friends. When they went out, they were synchronized, and when they slept, they were inseparable.

The zooplankton in the underground river, shrimp and worms, were jealous of the friendship between turtles and fish, so they tried to drive them apart. The shrimp worm said to the carp: "Dear carp, the turtle is jealous that you once jumped over the dragon gate and said that when you eat, your beard is too long, which makes the vegetable soup a mess, which is very unsanitary." The shrimp worm ran to the turtle again and said,"Mighty turtle, the little carp is jealous of your tough guy image. It says that you walk proudly and your hard shell often touches the cave."

The carp and the divine turtle were very angry when they heard what the shrimp and insect said. So the carp broke through the ridge of the field and prepared to return to the South China Sea; the divine turtle climbed up Kanda and planned to live outside the cave. When they first left Kanda, they all regretted it. The carp thought: The turtle called me back and apologized to me. The divine turtle also thought that the carp would admit its mistake to him. So, the two of them just waited for each other. The other spoke first, and neither one was willing to take a step back.

In this way, they waited and waited, and finally petrified, turning into what they are now, and no one said anything.

There is also an interesting legend in Sanjiao Cave in Jiuxiang: It is said that in ancient times, there was a evil dragon entrenched in the cave. This dragon has a perverse temperament and often causes trouble and harms life.

In order to go out to sea to save the people, the white-haired immortal living on the East Mountain borrowed a divine tripod from the sky one night and placed it at the entrance of the cave. He prepared to capture the dragon and boil the river, and kill it and cook it. Just as the dragon swam slowly out of the cave entrance and the immortal was preparing to capture it, a stone pheasant on the hillside south of the cave entrance suddenly crowed. The flood dragon felt that something was wrong and fled back into the cave. The immortal was about to step into the cave constable when a loud noise suddenly sounded, shaking the earth and mountains, and the sun and moon lost light. It turned out that this dragon had gone through cultivation and had some skills. When it saw that there was no way at the entrance of the cave, it burst through the roof of the cave and flew away.

The immortal stomped on the ground with his feet and also took off to chase. The moved divine cauldron took root overnight and turned into the mouth of the three-legged cave.

We don't know whether the evil dragon was later captured by the immortal. But since then, the dragon never dared to return to the cave, because the divine cauldron at the entrance of the cave was enough to make it look at it. Therefore, the flat field under the cave was cultivated for two days, and the flowing water from the cave entrance was diverted to irrigate all the time, making it very fertile.
