When it comes to the famous military academy in modern China, many people must think of it as Whampoa Military Academy. In fact, its official name is the "Army Officer Academy." It is commonly known as Whampoa Military Academy because it is located on Changzhou Island in Huangpu District, Guangzhou.

Another army military academy with a close relationship with it is even more powerful. It has trained more than 20 generals, 2 marshals, 1 South Korean prime minister, and the commander-in-chief of the three services of Vietnam and North Korea. Therefore, it is known as the "cradle of generals." This military school is the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall.

Yunnan Army Lecture Hall was founded in 1909. It was formerly known as the Army Military Equipment School. After its completion, Gaoerdeng, Governor of Yungui, became the principal. The Mid-Autumn Festival of the same year welcomed the first batch of students.

At the beginning of its establishment, a large number of Chinese students from the Japanese Army NCO School returned to China and were appointed as instructors of the Military Martial Hall. Japanese is added to English and French. Its style follows that of the Japanese Army School and combines the actual situation of the Yunnan Army and the school, allowing students to strive for excellence and talents to emerge in large numbers.

For example, Zhu De and Marshal Ye Jianying, a large number of famous generals such as Zhu Peide, Jin Handing, and Fan Shisheng all came from the school. In addition, my country's neighboring countries, Lee Pham Seok, the first Prime Minister of South Korea, Choi Yongjian, Vice Chairman of North Korea, and Choi Yongjian, Chairman of the Provisional Government of Vietnam, also graduated from the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall.

Guangzhou Whampoa Military Academy was also greatly influenced by the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall. When Sun Yat-sen founded the Whampoa Military Academy in Guangzhou in 1924, the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall sent the first batch of instructors Liu Yaoyang, Ye Jianying, Wang Bailing, etc. to teach. It was not until 1928 when Chiang Kai-shek ordered that all provinces should not establish military schools that the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall was forced to change its name. As of 1945, a total of 19 issues had been held, including students from neighboring countries such as Vietnam, North Korea, and Myanmar.

Nowadays, when traveling to Kunming, Yunnan, the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall, which has been baptized by time, has become a beautiful scenery that cannot be missed. When walking along the bank of Cuihu, when you look up, you can see bright yellow buildings hidden between the lake and the trees. On the door sign, the words "Yunnan Army Martial Arts School" are written. Standing in front of the gatehouse, the cornices and corners set off the blue sky and white clouds, seemingly telling people about the glory of the past.

The Yunnan Army Lecture Hall has now been transformed into a history museum and is open to visitors for free. There are guard changing ceremonies and guard duty activities at every hour starting from 9:00 a.m. in the museum, which is a highlight. Armed with rifles, the heroic honor guards marched around the inner square in a single file, shouting slogans on the way. When you walk to the gate, you will also display movements such as lifting and rotating the gun according to the password, which is very powerful.

Then I walked into the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall and felt the depth of its history. On the wall are rows of old photos from various periods when the school was run, with introductions from military instructors, ordinary teachers and others; display cases display the school songs, school motto and charter, as well as students 'military uniforms and training equipment on the playground. Looking at these old things, my thoughts follow them back to the war-torn but passionate era.

Among the many exhibits, one statue with a firm and kind face is particularly eye-catching. It is Zhu De, the first of the ten great marshals of our country. The glass display cabinet next to the statue displays Zhu De's life introduction, handwriting, and military uniforms he wore. Precious items.

The name "Zhu De" also has an indissoluble relationship with the school. In 1909, Zhu De went from Sichuan to Kunming to apply for the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall, but was not accepted. In the face of setbacks, he did not lose heart. Through hard work, he joined the infantry standard of Yunnan 19 towns. He removed the word "Jian" from his original name Zhu Jiande, changed his name to "Zhu De" to continue to apply for the exam, and finally realized his long-cherished wish.

Zhu De's first partner in his life also met during this period. At that time, Zhu De was not admitted to the Martial Arts Hall, but he spent all his travel expenses. Fortunately, the owner and his wife extended a helping hand and asked him to provide subsidies for his daughter Xiao Jufang's supplementary cultural courses. Later, Zhu De was admitted to Jianwu Hall and took time to visit the shop owner and his wife every holiday. The shop owner decided to marry his daughter to him, and the two married in the autumn of 1912.

Walking around the courtyard of the Lecture Hall, you can still see the dormitories of the instructors, the collective dormitories and classrooms of the Lecture Hall. The layout inside is similar to that of the past. It is reported that students get up at 5 a.m. every day and can't fall asleep until 9 p.m., and the school has quite strict requirements on internal affairs and military discipline. It is precisely because of such requirements that the Yunnan Army, known by the world as the "powerful force of the country", was cultivated.

Although as tourists, I can now freely enter and exit the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall, back then, it was quite difficult to enter this prestigious military school. Looking back at this two-story civil-style building again, it looks even more simple and solemn, and the glory and aura of the past have long been engraved in my heart.
