Every time I go to Yunnan, I pass through Kunming. I pass by in a hurry but have no time to stay. This time, I specially set aside three days before resuming work during the epidemic to explore the wonders of this city.
DAY 1 Kunming Huayi Hotel
Arriving at Kunming Airport from Shenzhen, the ground temperature is 20 degrees, and the autumn is crisp, which makes people feel refreshed.
It takes about 40 minutes to take a taxi from the airport to Kunming Huayi Hotel in Xishan District, and the journey is smooth. When we arrived near the hotel, it was full of greenery. The driver said that this was a natural oxygen bar. People living here like to walk along the road and breathe fresh air.
Huayi Hotel is a luxury hotel brand of InterContinental Hotels Group, specially tailored to the needs of high-end Chinese consumers. Kunming Huayi Hotel is located in Dianchi Resort, sitting next to the West Mountain. The hotel integrates traditional Chinese culture and international elements throughout each space.
The concept of being close to nature without losing luxury is worn in all locations in the hotel. The rooms are full of oriental charm and natural flavor. The separate balcony faces the garden. The customized selection of tea sets are matched with 4 Chinese teas. The 2-meter-sized bed is equipped with high-quality soft and hard pillows. The luxurious bathtub is equipped with spa brand Essence Elements bath care products.
In the taxi, I asked the driver what fruit to eat this season. As soon as I entered the room, I received a generous portion of fruits and fragrant flower cakes, which was extremely considerate.
The first thing to do when you sit down in the room is of course to drink tea, soak a pot of Yunnan Pu 'er on the open-air balcony, listen to the birds singing in the garden, and read a book for a while. It is extremely comfortable.
Dinner was chosen at the hotel's Caifeng Building, which mainly serves traditional local cuisine and selects popular classic Cantonese cuisine.
Chefs from Guangdong use innovative methods to blend fresh Yunnan ingredients into Cantonese cuisine, which has unique flavors, such as fried shrimp steak with choleus mushrooms and simmered beef with porcini mushrooms. Coupled with a Western-style dish, it is delicious and beautiful. The seasonal vegetable pea seedlings are fresh and tender and juicy, and you can feel the taste of peas and beans.
DAY 2 Dianchi Lake| hot spring| local cuisine
Breakfast the next day was in the bright all-day restaurant. The environment was bright and colorful, facing the outdoor garden and the scenery was pleasant. The breakfast perfectly integrates the Eastern and Western food cultures. It is rich and diverse in catering dishes that both international standards and local characteristics.
I curiously mixed and mixed a breakfast: thin bean flour, salty tofu jelly, bait silk... Just as he was thinking about how to mix a bunch of ingredients, the chef and the waitress took the initiative to help choose the tune. Thin bean flour is delicious with fried dough sticks, and there are also snacks specially delivered by the chef, which are different every day.
After getting a map from the hotel concierge department, we set off for Dianchi Lake. It takes less than 10 minutes to reach Haigeng Park by taxi.
The driver introduced that during December of winter, there will be seagulls coming to winter. The seagulls will fly in clear water and blue sky. The picture is very beautiful. There are roughly four projects in the park: cruise ships, cableways (touring the Western Hills), photo park (artificial landscape), and food court.
I chose to cruise for an hour to experience the Dianchi Lake hundreds of kilometers, blow the autumn wind, see the Western Hills of the "Sleeping Beauty", and imagine how Kunming people lived in this land hundreds of years ago.
Go back to the hotel and continue drinking tea. Cross the small bridge and flowing water in the lobby lounge, sit outdoors and watch the Western Hills in front of you, order a cup of Yunnan Pu 'er, chat with friends for a while, and relax.
Some rooms of the hotel have hot spring pools, and the outdoor garden has 8 natural hot spring pools, large and small. They are hidden in the dense forest, quiet and natural, and you can soak for an hour without realizing it.
In the evening, take a walk along the greenway outside the hotel, and the fragrance of trees exudes. Choose a restaurant on the roadside, order a few local snacks, and talk about life with friends.
Day 3 Museum| flowers
Yunnan is a rare multi-cultural symbiosis zone, where 26 ethnic groups reproduce and live. Understanding a place's history and culture certainly starts in museums.
About 20 minutes from Kunming Huayi Hotel to the Yunnan Province Museum in the morning, I happened to encounter museum staff explaining everything from prehistoric Yunnan insects and dinosaurs, to human Paleolithic ceramics, and a gold seal from Yunnan. The story is fascinating.
There are countless national-level treasures in the museum. Friends who like humanities must not miss this national-level museum. Three hours of viewing makes people forget to rest.
From the museum is the ancient historical and cultural town of Kunming-Guandu Ancient Town. It has many cultural monuments and rich cultural landscapes. In an area of less than 1.5 square kilometers, there are five mountains, six temples, seven pavilions, eight temples and many other landscapes from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
There are several groups of opera enthusiasts playing and singing by the pool in the park, surrounded by a group of middle-aged and elderly audiences, all of whom are leisurely and have a unique scenery of life.
Kunming, known as the Flower City, naturally has a flower market.
It takes about 10 minutes from Guandu Ancient Town to Dounan Flower Market. There are many kinds of flowers here, and large quantities of flowers are sent to all parts of the country. Around 4 p.m., it was close to the market, and merchants were busy clearing their goods and processing batches of roses at special prices, which made people couldn't help but pack a few handfuls.
When I left this charming city, I couldn't forget the flower cakes of Kunming Huayi Hotel, so I went to the market to select local specialty flower cakes to use as souvenirs.
After tasting a few of them, I always felt that they were not as crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Fortunately, I low-key packed several flower cakes from the hotel's afternoon tea and brought them back to Shenzhen to relieve my cravings.
