That year, we built a second-level standard force measuring machine in Yaozhou, Shaanxi Province, and needed to measure the gravitational acceleration there in order to calculate weight. To this end, we had to go to the Kunming Institute of Geology in Yunnan and invite them to come to Yaoxian to measure gravity acceleration. According to regulations, Yunnan is responsible for the northwest region.
Wearing a heavy cotton coat and cotton shoes, I came here by train from the north. Unexpectedly, Kunming was very warm. I sweated profusely every day and was very painful. At that time, there were no clothes to buy, and cloth tickets were needed everywhere. Without local cloth tickets, it was impossible to buy a single dress. Wearing big cotton shoes on the street was very colorful.
The most ridiculous thing is that in order to be protected during the Cultural Revolution, our unit was changed to the Lan Zi 805 Unit. I lived in the Yunnan Military Region guest house and came every day with some soldiers to conduct inspections and took no trouble.
I didn't know what happened. I spent every day under suspicion and interrogation. There was no choice. I left Kunming immediately after I got the matter done.
Later, I found out that the Tan Furen incident occurred a few days before I went there. So that was the case!
