When I first visited Lijiang more than ten years ago, I only knew that there was an ancient city of Lijiang, which was the earliest famous Dayan Guzhen. Gradually, more and more tourists were attracted to Dayan Ancient Town, which sometimes seemed a little noisy. Later, everyone discovered the quieter ancient town of Shuhe and the even quieter ancient town of Baisha. In fact, the ancient city of Lijiang included these three ancient towns. During this trip to Lijiang, we chose Shuhe and Baisha, which we had never been to.

Shuhe Ancient Town, known as "Shaowu" in Naxi, means "village under the peak", is one of the earliest settlements of Naxi ancestors in Lijiang Bazi. When Xu Xiake visited the Zhishan Liberation Forest, he passed by here. In his account, he wrote: "Crossing a dry stream and stone bridge, looking at the middle sea in the west, with dark willows and waves, and there is a large settlement on it, which is Shihe Courtyard." "Shihe" is the ancient name of Shuhe Ancient Town.

The ancient tea-horse road, opened in the Tang Dynasty, runs from southern Yunnan through Dali, Lijiang, Diqing, and Lhasa, and ends in India. After more than a thousand years of operation and development in the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, the ancient tea-horse road has promoted the people of all ethnic groups along the route. Economic and cultural exchanges. Shuhe Ancient Town is a well-preserved station in Lijiang Bazi, so what impressed you most when you come to Shuhe Ancient Town is the horse gang culture here.

Shuhe Ancient Town, like Dayan Ancient Town, also has a Sifang Street in the center of the town. Sifang Street is also the busiest place in the ancient town. If you come to Shuhe for the first time and see the scene in front of you, you will feel that there are many people here. It is similar to Dayan Ancient Town. If you like tranquility, I suggest you walk in the direction of the Ancient Tea Horse Road. The number of people will gradually decrease and you can enjoy the charm of Shuhe.

Walking slowly on the potholed stone road, we seem to feel the excitement and prosperity of the ancient tea-horse road. Now, the prosperity has ended, leaving only the precipitation of history and the changes of time, let us slowly taste it.

The southernmost part of the Xishan Mountain of Shuhe is Songyun Village, followed by Shilian Mountain. There is a cave on the mountain, which is like a tiger's open mouth. In order to shake the tiger's majesty, the local people built a temple at the entrance of the cave, called Shilian Temple. One of the pillars is tied with iron chains. During the Republic of China, night schools were once held, and scholars gathered around the fire to read at night, which became a scenery called "Shilian Night Reading", one of the eight scenic spots in Shuhe River.

In the opposite direction to the ancient tea-horse road, you can reach the "Jiuding Longtan" in Shuhe Ancient Town. The water in the pool is clear and crystal clear, and the water and grass are dancing. There is a truncated stele beside the pool. Its age is no longer determined. It is said that it will make a crisp sound when knocked with a stone. There is also a temple next to it, called the "Sansheng Palace". The west hall is dedicated to Guanyin, the north building is dedicated to the Dragon King, and the south building is dedicated to Sun Bin, the founder of the cobbler. Even in this small place, there are three of the eight scenic spots in Shuhe River."The dragon gate is full of the moon, the snowy mountains are reflected, and the broken monuments are knocking", which is worth appreciating carefully.

Although more tourists choose to come to Shuhe now, it is still much quieter than Dayan. The air here is filled with a leisurely flavor. Don't come and go in a hurry. You must stay in Shuhe for the night and wait in the morning for the first ray of morning sunshine to shine into the room and illuminate our hearts.

If you want to truly feel the beauty of a place, you must stay here more. The best thing is to stay for one night, because the evening and early morning are the times when there are the fewest tourists.

Because I arrived late, it was already dark, and I couldn't see the whole yard clearly. I just felt very quiet, and fell into bed and quickly fell asleep. Early the next morning, I opened the curtains, and a ray of early morning sunshine shone into the room. I looked out of the window. Under the light blue sky, the entire ancient city seemed to have just opened its eyes. There was a lazy and fresh smell in the air. I couldn't help but take a few deep breaths, and I felt particularly awake.

Just stroll around the courtyard and see the different rooms. Although each room is different in size and layout, they are all very warm. The best thing is that each room upstairs has a small balcony where you can lie on the balcony and bask in the sun, which is very comfortable.

The public area at the front desk is very large. In the morning, my aunt made me hot noodles all night long. It was delicious. I eliminated the full bowl. If you don't want to go out, you can chat with friends here and drink tea. Traveling does not have to rush through various attractions. It is also a good way to find a comfortable and comfortable place to sit down and experience it quietly.
