The first time I came to Yunnan was in April 2013. That year, I was still an idle and carefree young man. I stayed leisurely in the ancient city of Dali for more than a month, which gave me a sense of Yunnan. initial reverie.
The second time I came to Yunnan was in December 2019. It seemed that he was a young man who had seen the world and the warmth of human beings. He walked in the mountains of Shangri-La Yubeng Village for a few days, which gave me a deeper understanding of Yunnan. understanding.
The third time I came to Yunnan was in August 2020. He was already a little uncle in his thirties and a little calm. He wandered around the ancient cities of Dali, Lijiang, and Xishuangbanna for nearly two weeks, and he had an inexplicable understanding of Yunnan. obsession.
(Shangri-La·Rainfall Hiking Travel Notes are here: https://you.ctrip.com/travels/xianggelila106/3921865.html? isAuthor=true)
Fortunately, the day I went to Xizhou, it was sunny and I wanted to run in the rice fields.
Xishuangbanna's night market is really a must-visit every day. I like it so much.
If you come to Yunnan during the rainy season, you can only be Buddhist when it comes to blue sky and white clouds, so choose your travel time as appropriate. In the past two weeks I have been here, I have rarely seen large blue skies.
Especially in the few days in Lijiang, it was difficult to travel far even if it rained for days, so I had to walk around in the ancient town. In Xishuangbanna, I was shopping in the night market when it suddenly rained heavily and I hurried back.
[Dali Ancient City] It has been purely empty for several days
This time I had just arrived in the ancient city of Dali and passed by Erhaimen, I began to sigh. It really became too much and I couldn't recognize it.
In 13 years, there was basically nothing around Erhaimen and it was very empty. Now it is a bustling market, and the shops around it are also very lively. Back then, I liked the comfort of taking a walk after dinner, so I'm afraid I can't find it.
If you talk about what the market in Erhaimen sells, there is nothing else other than ethnic costumes, special snacks, and handmade souvenirs. However, I have a friend who often visits a small flower shop.
In Dali, if fake flowers are displayed at home or shop, it is a disrespect for Dali. There is such a beautiful natural ecology here, and beautiful flowers are everywhere. As long as you are careful to dress them up frequently, you will not need those lifeless fake flowers.
Walking along Renmin Road from Erhaimen and all the way in the direction of Cangshan Mountain is my favorite way to visit the ancient city. Renmin Road is the busiest and busiest main street in the ancient city. There are various specialty shops on both sides of the street.
I haven't seen you for a few years. The lower section, which was originally a little deserted, has now become noisy. There are many tourists. The shops on both sides are mainly inns, restaurants, and souvenir shops.
The upper section is still as prosperous as ever. I leave every time I walk by it in a hurry. It is the place where tourists gather most, especially there is a foreign street next to it. It was a lively bar street back then.
In fact, there are really many bars on both sides of Renmin Road, especially in the evening, when the resident singer starts singing, which makes the original hustle and bustle of the ancient city more literary and vicissitudes.
I remember that in Dali that year, in addition to these tie-dyed products, simple cotton and linen clothes could be seen everywhere in the ancient city. When I came back this year, I found that the clothes couldn't be found, and more of them had become tie-dyed clothes ranging from 69 to 399.
It was like wearing such simple clothes with great joy, carrying a bamboo basket and frame in touch with the atmosphere of the earth, and picking up a bicycle to stroll around the ancient city or its surrounding areas.
In fact, the ancient city of Dali is not big, but it is not small. If you walk too much, you will find only so many places to go, but it will take a long time to walk from Erhaimen to the North Gate. The depths of courtyards extending from various streets and alleys may give you many surprises. So in fact, if you want to feel a quieter ancient city, you just need to stay away from the main street and walk into the alleys on the street. Here, you will bump into a favorite cafe, food, and inn.
If you want to say what I want in my heart to live in the ancient city, it is to have a place to quietly watch the clouds rolling and relaxing in the Cangshan Mountains. Every moment of the day, the clouds on Cangshan are unpredictable, and you can't get tired of seeing them.
Although in the rainy season, the clouds on this mountain never stretch, and I rarely see the scene of sunlight shining through the clouds, it doesn't affect my liking for this state.
When the mentality reaches, you are satisfied.
In fact, there is another place worth visiting in the ancient city, but you have to get out of the ancient city. That is March Street.
Dali Sanyue Street is a national traditional event with a history of thousands of years. It is also an ancient and prosperous trade market in western Yunnan. I especially liked to come here to buy things back then. I would come here for clothes, snacks, and souvenirs. Especially during festivals, it is more lively, but now it seems to be gradually occupied by other delicious restaurants.
The few days I was here actually happened to be Torch Festival, but due to the epidemic, the activities here were cancelled. But there are still many stalls selling torches under the archway.
If you are further away from the ancient city, Dali University is worth a visit. When I was here, it was still during the epidemic, so it was closed. School should be starting now, and tourists have been allowed in.
However, there was a surprising place outside campus, which I specially found online before. Because Dali University is at the foot of Cangshan Mountain, the terrain is very high, there is a straight road outside the campus leading to the Erhai Lake. There is no obstruction. Standing high, you can still see the Erhai Lake in the distance. This road is usually less open to traffic, so I took photos in the middle of the road with a little brazen.
[Ancient City Life] Leisure and leisure-Food and Coffee
During the few days I stayed in Gucheng, I basically slept until I woke up naturally and had brunch. After that, go back to rest or find a cafe to sit, and then look there at night where you can have dinner and drink. It's really casual.
Then when selecting accommodation, I said that I must find an inn with a rooftop where I can see the scenery of Cangshan Mountain.
So I booked this building block inn. Although I was still deceived by the photos of the inn, the photo locations of the tables and chairs on this rooftop were actually not allowed to be occupied, but it also had its own rooftop.
In addition to the rooftop, this inn has its own cafe, which offers a 20% discount for in-house guests, so I can sit quietly with a cup of coffee without having to walk far.
Because the inn is located far away from the main street, it is very quiet every day. In addition, there is an Akita dog, a folding eared blue cat, and a pastoral white cat. This is how to enjoy daily life.
After sleeping in the ancient city until I woke up naturally, I wanted to find a place to have brunch and have a cup of coffee. I mainly went to two houses to check in. In fact, it's not easy to wake up naturally when I can sleep. Haha, sometimes I can really sleep in.
Chaimiduo is a rare restaurant in the ancient city. It has a single-family courtyard. It is a great place for dates and breakfast and afternoon tea.
Chaimiduo actually also has living farms, living markets, restaurants and B & Bs, etc., advocating a lifestyle with farms as the theme element. So the ingredients in the restaurant are supplied directly from the farm. restaurant environment
The atmosphere is comfortable, with its own courtyard, and the walls are covered with bougainvillea, which is very comfortable under the sun. If you feel like it is in the sun, there are many seats indoors and on the second floor. Most of the people who visit the restaurant are family members with children and young couples. Try to arrive early, otherwise you will still have to wait for a table.
? Lots of seats.
Most of the people who visit the restaurant are family members with children and young couples. Try to arrive early, otherwise you will still have to wait for a table.
There are also many styles to choose from, and the main products are healthy dishes. I ordered a farmer's breakfast.
Other recommendations: farm salad, cream mushroom soup, rosemary fried steak, vegetable salad, various Western food, etc.
Flying to the Moon is also one of the highly rated Western restaurants in the ancient city.
Although this place is small in space, the dishes are large in size, making it a good place for brunch in the ancient city of Dali.
It is a single-family building with seats upstairs and downstairs.
But it rained the day I went, so the outdoor seats on the second floor were not open.
There are also outdoor seats on the first floor, which is a bit cozy like a cafe. However, the indoor seats are a little crowded, because the aisles are crowded because they are also the bar and kitchen.
Recommend French braised eggs!
Unfortunately, there were many customers on the day I arrived, and they were sold out, and the waiting list lasted a long time
So I ordered a burger and my friend ordered an American breakfast. The portions are really sufficient, especially my burger. I don't even know how to eat it. I almost couldn't finish it after eating it for a long time.
Per capita consumption: 60 yuan
Restaurant location: No. 74, Guangwu Road, Ancient City, Dali City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province
In the branch alleys of the main street of the ancient city, it is not difficult to find a relatively quiet location, suitable for quiet enjoyment.
That's right! This restaurant is closed every Wednesday on a closed day!
In fact, life in the ancient city is basically going out in the morning and evening. The light in the afternoon is relatively strong, so I don't really want to go out. Although there will be fewer people on the street in the afternoon, if I really want to go out for a walk, I basically just find a cafe to sit and swipe my phone to check the pedestrians coming and going.
Just opposite Chaimido, there is a small cafe with high reviews called Elephant Cafe.
Every time I visit the ancient city, I will pass by this place. Then I chose a sunny day to visit, and happened to have no one in the seat at the door, so I sat down and drank coffee while watching the tourists coming and going.
However, I found that the foreigner sitting next to me seemed to have seen him sitting here when he passed by a few days ago, as if he would visit this house every day.
Next to the Elephant Cafe, you should still encounter such a mobile locomotive coffee station during the day. It is very interesting.
However, what is more uncomfortable is that the ancient city chose this month to carry out maintenance and repair of some old houses. Therefore, the building of Elephant Cafe is surrounded by steel bars and a green safety net is hung up, which slightly affects the visual experience.
Another Internet celebrity cafe, which makes people unable to better appreciate its advantages, is Dawan Island Cafe.
Dawan Island Cafe was originally attracted by people because they could see the scenery of Cangshan Mountain. However, after such a renovation, the window view of Cangshan Mountain that should be fresh and clean was blocked by steel bars.
However, aside from the scenery, this cafe focuses on retro literary style, and the whole tone is very comfortable. Even the image of the little brother at the bar matches the cafe. There are also clothes on sale next to the bar, but most of them are women's clothes.
It was originally a popular cafe in the ancient city of Dali. I didn't expect that there would be no customers in the afternoon. It was probably due to the renovation.
This cafe is located on the fourth floor of a residential building at an intersection on Renmin Road. If you pass by, it will basically not be discovered unless you search the address online.
If you really want to find a cafe that can see the scenery of Cangshan Mountain, it should be Tang Ka.
Tang Ka is a coffee-themed inn, deep in the alley beside Renmin Road, and the location is quite convenient.
The entrance on the first floor is directly opposite the bar, and the wall is also covered with various award certificates, which shows that the coffee is very professional. Friends who have insights into coffee should find one they like here.
The seats on the second floor are actually very fresh and comfortable, filled with various green plants and flowers, and there are also window sill seats facing the scenery of Cangshan. It is also a relatively popular seating area.
But the most attractive thing is the open-air rooftop on the roof! The view is open and you can see the scenery of Dali Ancient City and Cangshan Mountain. The entire layout is like a small garden, lovely and exquisite.
Unfortunately, it rained on the day I went, so it was not suitable for sitting outside, so I had to take photos as a souvenir.
By the way, downstairs of Dawan Island Coffee, at the intersection of Renmin Road, there is an insignificant but very interesting stall. It is said to be the authentic snack ranked in the ancient city-thin bean flour.
The stall is very simple. It consists of a car, a basin, a pot, a small table, a few small stools, and her mother-in-law herself.
My mother-in-law sells this pot every day and closes the stall after it is sold out. Generally, when the weather is good and business is good, the stall may close after 10 o'clock. It was a rainy day when I went. I guess tourists don't go out much. It was past 11 o'clock when I passed by and found my mother-in-law was still there, so I couldn't help but want to buy one to try it.
Thin bean flour is a summer snack in Yunnan. White peas are ground into powder and boiled into porridge shape. The taste is very refreshing, sweet but not greasy, warm and hot, covered with fried dough sticks. The best way to eat is to soak the fried dough sticks in the bean flour and eat them. They are really waxy!
While eating, I was chatting with my mother-in-law. I didn't know what time the sales would last today. I complained to me that it was raining today and I didn't know if I could sell out today.
My mother-in-law said that she had been setting up a stall here for 30 years and that she had been here before I was born. After saying that, she laughed heartily.
If you want to eat some local cuisines with Yunnan characteristics in the ancient city, I checked in several restaurants myself and found it quite good. Let me tell you about it.
However, the recommended dishes you eat here are basically the same, such as braised chicken, poplar flowers, fried eggs, local chicken, potatoes, etc.
This is Jinji Hotel, located in the branch alley of Renmin Road. It is easy to find the price comparison and the ranking is not bad. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relatively comfortable and there are many scenic locations, but overall there are not many locations, so you need to wait for a small meal. Then there seems to be a bar on the second floor, which will be noisy later.
There is also one that I think tastes more authentic, called A Wang Private Kitchen.
Especially the pork belly at home is really delicious and chewy, and I still want to eat it again after eating it. Basically, it is mainly a large table, which is suitable for the family to eat. However, the location of this restaurant is not easy to find, and maybe because of this, there are not many customers.
After staying in the ancient city for a long time, I would actually get a little tired of eating, so I really didn't know what to eat and chose a Lijiang specialty Apo pork ribs restaurant. There are also several branches in the ancient city. The stores are quite spacious and there are many tourists.
It's a must-check for local specialties. You can order a pork rib pot, or you can also match it with pork ribs, chicken and pork knuckles.
Then I didn't quite understand this stone roasting. I don't know when Bai cuisine emerged. It can be seen everywhere in Dali!
I have never seen such a restaurant in 13 years. It is actually barbecue meat. However, I don't know what kind of stone slab this roasting table is made of. At night, these restaurants are so lively. They are all full of diners! Out of curiosity, I also checked in, but I really couldn't eat too much alone.
Thinking of the old fisherman's family, there are several branches in the ancient city, and it takes a long time to wait for a waiting table every night. Even if you couldn't sit indoors, stalls were set up outdoors. If you want to say whether it's really particularly delicious... I don't have a big impression. After all, how much difference can it make to roast meat or barbecue? Maybe he still went for a "characteristic" and "atmosphere"
After tea and dinner, night fell, the ancient city began to be crowded, Renmin Road gradually became crowded, those literary and artistic bars also began to attract business, and resident singers also took their place to sing heartbreaking songs.
Of course, the bars in the ancient city also have both clear bars and noisy bars. The resident singing bar of the noisy bar is basically a band, singing some rock and some popular ones. Personally, I still prefer a clear bar, and then I must have outdoor seats.
Sitting outside, sipping a glass of wine, I don't know if it was the tourists looking at me or I looking at the tourists, but it was just a passer-by's own amusement. Listening to the girls in the tavern playing and singing some literary songs or the current online divine comedy, I just got into the drama and started playing again.
However... the wine in bars in this ancient city is really not cheap... it can even compare with the price of bars in first-tier cities! This made me a little unbelievable. Some bars may have discounts and you need to pay for ordering, so in order to attract customers, some will shout that there is no discounts and order songs for free ~
I was full of wine and food, but listening to the band's singing was actually quite nourishing.
But you asked me whether it was for wine or music, maybe it was more wine.
But there seem to be many people in the bar who live and stay in the ancient city of Dali. Their enthusiasm is more dedicated to the singers. The enthusiastic interaction and cheerful accompaniment make me feel like I am really a tourist.
[Erhai] It's really so peaceful
This trip around the Erhai Lake is actually quite messy and can be said to be arbitrary. Generally, the normal trip is to start clockwise from the ancient city of Dali and drive clockwise along the Huanhai Highway for 1-2 days. For longer, you can stay in other villages you like. Stay overnight.
If you rent a car, one day around the sea is enough. Because I am alone, although I really want to rent a cool convertible pink car to make me happy, I can't see it even if I drive myself, so forget it.
In fact, riding a small battery bike will be more freedom, because cars cannot drive in ancient villages with many Haixi Road, while driving around Haidong Road is smooth but parking is not very convenient. But there is a limitation on riding an electric bike that is not far away.
My itinerary is suitable for lone travelers with free time and no purpose. Although I haven't completely completed the loop line, I feel very satisfied!
The route is as follows:
? Dali Airport-Wase Town-Shuanglang-Haidong Town-Dali Ancient City-Caicun Wharf-Xizhou-Dali Ancient City
Then below, list the scattered photo spots you encounter on the self-driving route, and explain them separately from other ancient towns. There are many guides on the Internet around the sea, and there are also relatively intuitive maps of scenic spots.
I don't like this trip very much on the section around Haixi Road. Too many sections of the road are under maintenance, so most of them are inaccessible, and I don't know how long it will take to improve. Although you can shuttle through various ancient villages in this way, it is too time-consuming and inconvenient. It is better to just charter a small tricycle like many people do and directly check in to the seaside attractions near the ancient city.
I guess the road construction this time is to make it more convenient for self-driving tours in the future. I think there is also an artificial plank road next to the road.
However, there are many ancient villages surrounded by the Haixi Road. If there are villages, there will be a flavor of life, there will also be farmland, etc.
I had hoped to ride from the ancient city to Xizhou along the road. I did encounter many beautiful scenery on the way. It actually didn't remind me of the scene when I rode back then, and I still rode a bicycle back then!
There are some places on Haixi Road that are worth checking in, but many of them have not been seen because of the road construction. For example, Shuangyuanxi, Majuyi Village, Langqiao, etc. Just while looking for various traffic sections, I came across several eye-catching scenery.
It is estimated that most of the tourists have gone directly to Xizhou, so they didn't meet many tourists all the way down.
Anyway, I don't remember how long I've been obsessed with it. There is indeed a section of Haixi Road under maintenance but it can also be opened to traffic, so I can still have close contact with the Erhai Lake landscape. What I often encounter is the tree branches on the seaside posing for themselves.
I didn't expect to meet a beautiful couple taking wedding photos.
So this time I prefer Haidong Road to Haixi Road.
If you are not starting from the ancient city, I suggest you start from Shuanglang, or like me, from Qose Town, and ride a small car back and forth around the west side of the Erhai Lake. You will not be disappointed.
Every time I see this large area of Cangshan Mountain surrounded by thick clouds, a fresh and hearty blue, and let the breeze dazzle my hair, I will have an impulse to say: I want to live in seclusion here! I like this comfort so much!
There are actually some ancient villages near Huanhaidong Road, just adjacent to the Erhai Lake. Some are signboards of large stones, and some are archways with Bai characteristics. It is not difficult to find.
I didn't expect to meet such a large area of lotus flowers by the Erhai Lake. No wonder it is called Lotus Music.
Of course, I can't help but stop for a while when I ride here. Although it's not the season when lotus flowers are in full bloom, I can still see many flowers. Because there is an ancient village next to it, when the villagers have nothing to do in the afternoon, they will sit by the seaside, sit under the tree, smoke a cigarette and chat.
I happened to be thirsty, so I was buying a bottle of water at the canteen. There were several Bai mother-in-law beside me chatting about daily affairs. They came over to listen, but they didn't understand.
I saw my mother-in-law suddenly change the topic and pointed to the grapes on the refrigerator and recommended them to me, saying that they were grown at home, sweet and delicious without pesticides. Seeing that I had no intention of buying it, he enthusiastically asked me to eat it and said it was delicious!
I don't remember where I saw this small house with graffiti on the walls, just on the edge of the Erhai Lake. There is still a road nearby to the Erhai Lake, so I parked my car to have a look.
The convenient thing about riding a small motorcycle is that you can park at any time, and you won't be afraid of someone voting for you for long. The folk customs here are simple and simple, and there is no shortage of your car, which makes people feel at ease. However, there is no place to park near the car, so I can only glance at it briefly.
Different from Huanhaidong Road, Huanhaixi Road has many sections on cliffs and many corners, so you must pay attention to safety when driving.
There were several periods when I rode up and down the slopes, and I felt like I was going to fly! Mountain views, sea views, and air views, when these appear in one picture, give me a new understanding of Erhai Lake, a different perception, and a more fond feeling.
There are really many scenic spots along the Erhai Lake that do not actually have names, but you have to carefully discover the seaside scenery that may be surprising. This is also the reason why I like to ride a small motorcycle around the Erhai Lake. It is not fast and can play freely.
[Digue Town] It's also a good starting point
This time when I arrived in the ancient city of Dali, I went directly to a seascape inn in Wase Town, planning to start by riding from the Erhai Lake first.
I really think it's a good idea to choose Dique Town as a starting point. The surrounding area has actually gradually developed, but it is not as noisy and noisy as the already popular places like Shuanglang, Ancient City, and Caicun Wharf, and it is more comprehensive in eating, drinking and playing. Besides, when it comes to renting a car, Dali can already deliver a car to the store, which is so convenient!
Around Wose Town, a day of cycling on Haidong Road will be very fulfilling. You can reach Shuanglang Ancient Town in the north and Luoquan Peninsula in the south. Not only is the large area of Erhai Lake very great, but you can also see many attractions worth taking photos and checking in.
[Xiao Putuo]
When I first saw this name, I really didn't think it was a tourist attraction in Dali.
Xiaoputuo Island is a relatively well-known tourist attraction on the Haixi coast of Erhai. The island is shaped like a gold seal floating on the water, and its shape is somewhat similar to Putuo in the South China Sea, so it is named.
There is an attic on the island, which looks very cute and small from a distance. Coupled with the lingering cigarettes and the mountains and rivers and clouds, it is really like a fairyland.
There is a small boat that goes to the island, but I think it can be seen from a distance. There is no need to go to the island to see it.
Regarding Xiaoputuo Island, what I like not only the island itself, but also the area where it is located. There is a village next to it. It is located at the foot of the mountain. This corridor built along the coast makes it feel like walking on it. Set the mountain view of the village as the background, and in front of me is Xiaoputuo Island, which seems like the people's yearning for the world of gods.
Riding in the direction of Shuanglang from Qose Town, we pass through an old forest area with a forest of forests. There are no specific attractions named, but there are many tourists here, couples taking wedding photos, and local residents resting. It is indeed a place worth staying for a while.
What I like better is the nearby grassland full of abandoned boats. The iron boats that were already covered with copper rust were abandoned here for some unknown reason, but they are all well preserved and are expected to be used again in the future.
There is a very famous scenic spot not far away. If it is really famous, it is actually because later, some travel photographers took pictures of this place so beautiful, and gradually it became an Internet celebrity. So not only tourists, but also local tourist photographers like to bring guests here to take photos.
However, the suitable places for taking photos are all at the foot of the mountain and along the Erhai Lake, and the road is on the mountain, so you can only park on the roadside and go down along the mountain road that others have walked on. You must pay attention to safety. It is very wild!
If you are afraid that you can't find it, really, you will know it when you pass by and see a large number of vehicles parked here to take photos. Because there is no parking lot here and everyone parks on the roadside, it is not easy to park, especially when there are many people.
If there is anything worth taking pictures here, it is actually that at the foot of the extended cliff, there are some small caves. People stand at the mouth of the mountain entrance and sit in the cave to take pictures. But if you ask me, it's really too difficult. It's not like a small mountain cave, where only one person can be accommodated in it. Moreover, if you want to take a good picture, you must have a super wide angle to take a picture!
In addition, they were all traveling photographers taking photos of various parties. It was really too difficult, so I gave up decisively!
If you look at it's full of people, you know they're all waiting for a photo taken here.
There is another place here. The originally abandoned houses were not completely demolished, leaving ruins behind. The other ruins buildings were nothing, but this wall with hollow windows formed a natural frame. The scenery is all natural, and people only need to be beautiful in the frame. I also admire the photographer who discovered this place!
So here is also full of people, each of whom is leaving a few blockbusters here. Only one person can go on every time. Some travel photos are very slow because they are business. When I saw so many people waiting there, I was sorry, but I gave up again!
South of Wase Town and in the southeast corner of Erhai Lake, there is a scenic spot called Luoquan Peninsula. The peninsula is surrounded by water on three sides and has beautiful scenery. It is just across the sea from the ancient city of Dali. It is also an excellent location to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Cangshan and Erhai.
It just happens that there is also a dock here, and there are boats that go to and from Caicun Pier. So if you go to the ancient city of Dali, it is another way, and more tourists are coming from Caicun Wharf and checking in on the Luoquan Peninsula.
Unfortunately, traveling in the rainy season really depends on the weather. I was glad it didn't rain, but when I arrived here, it suddenly rained for a while, and the wind at the dock became stronger. I found a temporary place to take shelter from the rain and rest.
I didn't enter the scenic spot, but it was right under the cliff next to it. It seemed to have built an artificial attraction to attract tourists to check in and take photos. Even here, I had to buy a ticket for 20 yuan! But Lovers Cliff and these really abandoned ships are quite beautiful.
After that, it was amazing. Originally, Luoquan Peninsula had its own ticket office, with 45 tickets per ticket. I thought it was a bit expensive and didn't plan to enter.
However, I bought this ticket for the terminal. After taking the photo, I was just walking around blindly. For some reason, I somehow walked into the attractions on the Luoquan Peninsula. It seemed that I did pass a ticket gate at the terminal, but there was no one...
So I spent 20 yuan and visited the 45-yuan attraction. When I was walking up the mountain from the dock, I would pass the ticket gate at the main entrance (I had already passed the ticket gate). At that time, I felt guilty and wondered if I would check the ticket because I was unfamiliar with it.
There are a large number of tall buildings here, one is Luoquan Tower and the other is Tianjing Pavilion.
The current Luoquan Tower was renovated in 2010. It retains the two important characteristics of the original tower: "square dense eaves" and "no roof". The round base means "round outside and square inside". There are elevators and two rows of stairs in the tower lead to the top of the tower.
The current Tianjing Pavilion was renovated in 1996. It has a five-story building in the Zouma Zhuange Xieshan style, with flying eaves and arched corners and high corners. The pavilion is high and the corridor is wide, and the view from afar is wider.
[Xizhou] I want to run in this green field
Among the ancient towns surrounding the Erhai Lake, apart from the ancient city of Dali, my favorite is Xizhou!
In fact, Xizhou Ancient Town itself is somewhat similar to the ancient cities of Shuanglang and Dali. Most of them are specialty small commodity shops, delicious snacks, etc.
Xizhou Ancient Town can only be visited on foot. If there is a parking lot nearby by car, you can also charter a car if there is a direct car in the ancient city.
Xizhou is home to many antique Bai buildings, and there is an ancient house with yellow walls next to the rice fields, which is beautiful against the rice fields and the blue sky! And one wall also specially left black and white photos of the ancient city taken back then, which has more texture.
If you say the most worthy thing in Xizhou Ancient Town, everyone will definitely say it is the rice fields!
This large rice field in Xizhou is really easy to shoot! Spring and summer are green vitality, and golden autumn is golden rice waves. They are all beautiful! There are many tourists during the peak season, but fortunately there are many trails in the rice fields to avoid other tourists.
There is also a famous corner building in the ancient city. It was originally the old house of Yang Ruxuan, a villager in Xizhou Chengbei Village. It is the most unique historical building in the residential buildings of Xizhou Ancient Town. Therefore, there are very many people checking in to take photos, and the road in front of the door is open to traffic, so it is even more crowded and messy. It is recommended to go by the wrong peak.
Of course, when you go to Xizhou, you still have to taste the special snacks here!
Xizhou Po Crispy Baba is a famous flavor snack in Xizhou. It has good color, aroma, and the weight of one piece is still very thick. You can also try cold chicken rice noodles, pea flour, etc.
[Zhoucheng] Make yourself a tie-dyed scarf
More than 20 kilometers away from the ancient city of Dali and 20 minutes away from Xizhou, there is a tie-dye town called Zhoucheng.
There is a tie-dye museum here, where you can learn about the actual making process of a tie-dye cloth, or you can buy your favorite tie-dye, including tablecloths, scarves, clothes, handkerchiefs, etc. You can also follow the Bai mother-in-law and make a tie-dye cloth by yourself. I made a tie-dye scarf for myself.
The price of tie-dyed products here is actually quite expensive, so personally consider it before deciding whether to buy it. You need to pay 120 yuan to experience the making of a tie-dyed scarf. You can also choose T-shirts, tablecloths, etc.
After paying the fee, your mother-in-law will take you to choose the pattern you like first. After selecting the pattern, you will need to put a light pattern watermark on the cloth.
After that, you will follow your mother-in-law to thread the thread, and your mother-in-law will teach you how to do it. Of course, as a novice, your speed is definitely not as fast as your mother-in-law. In order to complete it faster, your mother-in-law will also help you complete the other side.
After putting on the needle and thread, you need to twist the patterned areas into knots. My main choice is the pattern of auspicious flowers, and the scarf is really big, so my mother-in-law will take the initiative to tie a few small flowers in the blank area to decorate it.
After all, my mother-in-law is an old lady of the Bai nationality. She is not very good at Mandarin. She teaches me while chatting and praises my clothes for beautiful beauty. Busy with sewing, I can still hear my mother-in-law singing songs.
After ligation, you can dye it, and you can choose the color shade you like.
I chose the ordinary blue color. I was surprised when I first took it out of the dye vat. Is this the color I chose myself? Why is it so green! After soaking it many times, then shaking it dry. After shaking it and taking it out, I was shocked. How did it suddenly turn into such a beautiful blue again?
Start removing the stitches after taking it out. You don't have to worry about the color getting on your hands. It's easy to clean. The old ladies have been doing tie-dyeing for decades, so a light blue color is left on their hands.
Removing stitches is still very easy. I took them off with full expectation. When it was finally removed and fully unfolded, every pattern was amazing. I really liked it so much!!!
[Shuanglang] To be honest, I am not in love
Shuanglang can be said to be a place to check in when you come to Dali, because various sea view hotels on the Internet continue to tempt friends to take photos and check in. I remember when I first arrived in 13 years ago, Shuanglang was still an unknown ancient town that had just begun to be renovated. After a few years of changes, Shuanglang became famous and many tourists visited it, but it made me a little disappointed...
I was really happy to ride a small motorcycle all the way from Wose Town to watch the scenery of Erhai Lake. However, when I was about to arrive at the Shuanglang Ancient Town Scenic Area, the long-distance traffic jam began to make people annoyed. Because renting a car in Dali is becoming more and more convenient and easier to shoot, more and more people are driving around the Erhai Lake by themselves. The entrance to Shuanglang Ancient Town Scenic Area is almost adjacent to the highway around the sea. The road is not spacious and the parking lot is few and small, so as long as there are many people, there will be traffic jams here.
There are really too many tourists in Shuanglang Ancient Town Scenic Area! Because the terrain of the scenic area is long and narrow, and there is only one main road that branches to various small attractions, you can see crowded scenes in many areas, which makes me dare not imagine, so I don't have much intention to take pictures. It makes it more comfortable to walk to the more spacious Minzu Street.
There are all kinds of modern buildings and shops along the road. When I suddenly saw a local old lady, I actually felt that she was so out of place...
There is a Nanzhao style island here. You can take a cruise ship to the island from the ancient town. The coastal street here is also a commercial area. There are many tourists and a little noisy, which makes me want to stay away in a hurry...
The most delicious food in Shuanglang Ancient Town is probably wild mushroom hot pot. Friends who come to Yunnan have to try it no matter what. I have heard the legend of "poisonous" mushrooms more than once or twice. Many people hope to see little people after eating them. Whatever, haha, but I left this opportunity in Lijiang.
Other things you see most are roasted bait fans, fried potatoes, Yunnan coffee, local fruits, etc., and most specialty shops sell silver jewelry, handicrafts, tea, etc. I don't know... Nothing I like.
Of course, the one that is more life-oriented must be the center of Shuanglang Ancient Town. Seeing the scenic area made me afraid, so I reluctantly rode my motorcycle back to Qucai Town...
[Seaview Inn] How to choose accommodation in Erhai Lake
If you fall in love with Erhai Lake, you must start with an inn. A seascape inn that is suitable for taking photos where you can stare quietly at the Erhai Lake will definitely enhance your happiness when traveling to Erhai Lake.
? How to choose an inn depends on whether there are these:
1. Sea view rooms, observation platforms, etc., anywhere you can take a quiet view of the sea
Since I live by the Erhai Lake and do not have a sea view of the Erhai Lake, it must be much worse. In the peak season, it is really hard to find a room in an Internet celebrity's View Inn, especially those rooms with the curtains open and facing the sea view. They are really lovely!
2. Internet celebrity photo elements, free travel photos
Many inns on this side of the Erhai Lake have their own rooftops, and some Internet celebrity photo spots will be set up. All Internet celebrity photo elements in the Erhai Lake must include sky scenery, glass balls, endless pools, etc., all kinds of blockbusters.
So at this time, we'll compete for services other than Internet celebrity check-in points. Like the ones I live in, they all have their own travel photographers who can help you take photos, but they all need to make an appointment in advance. The earliest is the same day. Give the original film. If you need to shoot more, you can also apply for other locations in the inn or help with it, just giving money.
3. Specialty food
Yunnan's local specialties, because it is difficult to find a delicious restaurant around some inns, so the sea view room with a restaurant with a Shanghai view, as well as local food, is indeed more attractive!
Yunnan's specialty local dishes, such as fried eggs, water poplar flowers, and local chicken hot pot, are generally purchased online and have discounts.
4. Car rental services
After all, the best way to visit Erhai Lake is to rent a car around the sea. You can basically rent electric bicycles and cute colored convertible cars, as long as you like it. The prices are basically the same for every store, and you can also book online in advance.
[Ancient City of Lijiang] It's quite comfortable when it's raining
During the few days in Dali, I was lucky enough to have only one or two days of rain for the whole day. Most of the time, it rained in the morning and cleared up in the afternoon. Of course, this is also the rainy season in Yunnan. I originally hoped that Lijiang would do the same for those days. Unexpectedly, it didn't rain on the first day I arrived. After that, it was rainy and rainy. Even the temperature dropped a lot, and I felt cold even wearing a coat.
So I originally planned to sign up for a one-day trip to the hearts of the surrounding areas without getting cold, so this time in Lijiang, I only spent a few days wandering around Dayan Ancient Town.
Like the ancient city of Dali, I said I must stay in an inn that can see the panoramic view of Lijiang! There are actually many of these in the ancient city.
However, what I want to tell you is that in Lijiang Ancient Town, you must choose an inn close to the entrance to book accommodation. Otherwise, you will probably not be in the mood to go shopping as soon as you arrive with your suitcase. There are too many uphill and downhill roads in the ancient city of Lijiang, and they are basically stone and brick roads, which are very difficult to walk on. When I go shopping, I often meet tourists complaining while walking...
The streets in the ancient city of Lijiang are built around mountains and rivers, and there are various scenic spots, such as Sifang Street, Mufu, Wufenglou, Black Dragon Pool, Wenchang Palace, etc. The ancient city also has colorful local ethnic customs and entertainment activities, such as Naxi ancient music, Dongba rituals, divination culture, ancient town bars, Naxi Torch Festival, etc.
You can often see font displays about Dongba culture in the ancient city of Lijiang. Such hieroglyphs are interesting and unique. I think it's just after the Torch Festival. I think every household has door couplets posted in fiery red, and the words on them are such Dongba characters.
If you compare the layout of the ancient city of Dali and the ancient city of Lijiang, it is a bit like Beijing and Shanghai.
The architecture of the ancient city of Lijiang also reflects the achievements of ancient Chinese urban construction. Unlike buildings in various places in Yunnan, it is also one of the types with distinctive characteristics and styles among Chinese folk houses.
Sifang Street is the busiest street in the ancient city, with all kinds of shops, bars, snacks, etc. located.
There are indeed many specialty souvenir shops in the ancient city, but some coffee, tambourines, yak meat, etc. can also be seen in other places.
I came across this phone case shop by chance. I like this slightly coquettish folk style phone case very much. It is also because my phone case was smashed when I was in Dali and I wanted to replace it with one with more local characteristics.
Each one has a different color. My dream is also an auspicious flower. 39 yuan is not expensive.
This Dongba Paper Workshop actually has several branches in Lijiang. I was still attracted by this chandelier. They are all souvenirs made of purely handmade toilet paper. However, I felt that it was not convenient to carry, so I asked if there was a Taobao store. I was told that it was only a physical store and I could only miss it with such lighting.
In the ancient city of Lijiang, there are many Internet celebrities worth checking in to take photos. In fact, as long as it is an antique building, it will look great with colorful accessories.
Near Dayanhua Lane, there is a street that looks a little like the feeling in "Spirited Away" and is also somewhat similar to Jiufen Old Street in Taiwan. The colorful lanterns hanging here have the words on them exactly the Dongba characters mentioned earlier, which makes them more Lijiang characteristics!
There is also such a street filled with oil-paper umbrellas in various colors and patterns. It is my favorite street in the ancient city of Lijiang.
There are some specialty shops on both sides of the street. In fact, there are not as many tourists strolling on this street as on the main street. It is suitable for walking slowly and taking pictures quietly. Every umbrella hanging on it has the same pattern. I really want to buy one and take it back as a souvenir.
The ancient city of Lijiang is even more different at night. I deliberately started from this street again to find the unique charm of the ancient city of Lijiang.
Sure enough, at night, there were more tourists, and it seemed that everyone was planning to visit the ancient city at night. The originally lively ancient city of Lijiang becomes even more noisy at night. The endless shouts, the laughter of tourists, and the singing and singing of bars are all mixed together. This is what the ancient city of Lijiang should look like.
The ancient city of Lijiang is actually a bit crowded, because every street is not wide, and because it rains, everyone is holding umbrellas, so it looks even more crowded when walking.
If you want to find a place in the ancient city, you really have to rely on navigation, otherwise you really can't find it. It's too easy to get lost on this old street with seven turns, and there are not many signs, which makes you confused and you can only get familiar with some road sections if you walk too much.
In fact, a long time ago, all I knew about Lijiang was based on online evaluations. At that time, I heard that Lijiang was an easy place to meet because the bars here were suitable for encounters.
There are also many comments that Lijiang's excessive commercialization, especially bar culture, has made the ancient city of Lijiang too noisy. Of course, everyone's preferences for Lijiang are different.
So this time after I personally experienced coming to Lijiang, I was actually really, still scared by the bar culture here. Different from Dali, most bars in Dali belong to sake bars with a lot of singing and singing. However, walking a bar street near Sifang Street in the ancient city of Lijiang stunned me. Many of them are not bars, but are all like discos!
I said, is the ancient city of Lijiang so "foreign"? I was scared, I really didn't want to go in and have a look...
To be honest, I really don't like Dali as much as Lijiang. Sure enough, I still love the simple nature of Cangshan and Erhai Lake more.
However, there are actually many places to go around the ancient city of Lijiang, and they are very beautiful, such as the Yulong Snow Mountain, Lugu Lake, etc. I think it will be even better next time when the clear skies are clear. Let's look forward to it.
During the few days I wandered around the ancient city, I deliberately wanted to find some local specialties. After looking through various strategies, I didn't see many that I particularly liked. After all, some foreign restaurants were not very interested, and Yunnan seemed to have eaten almost all the local specialties before...
When checking in at that time, the landlady strongly recommended me to go to this second brother rice noodle. After searching online, it turned out that it was still the best rice noodle in the ancient city. After settling my luggage, I went straight. In fact, when I arrived at the restaurant, it was already around 1:30 pm. The people waiting at the door really surprised me. There were so many!
There was a particularly embarrassing review on the Internet. It said that compared with an empty rice noodle restaurant across the street, I realized that Second Brother's rice noodles were so popular! Holding a person's number plate, he waited for half an hour before sitting down.
After ordering directly at the cashier's desk, you can sit down and order all the specialties in the store. Even if you eat alone, you must persist in this stubbornness!
A crispy pork cake, a bowl of chicken soup rice noodles, and a portion of stewed pork knuckles are all must-order brands in the store.
Crispy pork cake is actually similar to roujiamo, but the dough is crisp and thick; the stewed pork knuckle is really delicious. The collagen that melts immediately in the mouth is a little salty when eaten alone; chicken soup rice noodles are really delicious, and it is best to match it with local sauces. It will taste better!
Didn't I eat Apo's preserved ribs once in Dali before? I really didn't know what to eat? Later, I ate several meals of preserved ribs in Lijiang... Actually, it's not my personal favorite food series, but it's indeed local specialties, and it's also a meal with a lot of people waiting for me!
Forgive me for saying it now, but when I arrive in Yunnan, what I must eat is mushroom hot pot! It really is everywhere. I saw Shuanglang Ancient City from the ancient city of Dali, and finally ate it in the ancient city of Lijiang! Before eating it, I still imagined that I would hallucinate if I was poisoned, but because they were all artificially produced mushrooms, they would not have this effect.
Although the taste is relatively light, the nourishment is really real! I don't know what kind of fungi they are when I eat many mushrooms in my mouth, and some of them have not been seen before. Moreover, this mushroom hot pot uses such a primitive metal pot, which is indeed very unique.
Later, a friend also recommended a local restaurant with Yunnan cuisine. The atmosphere was indeed quite comfortable. I liked the yak rice crust I ordered very much, and steamed tofu is also a famous snack here.
Because of the rain, I didn't want to stay in the inn all the time, so I thought it would be better to go to the Ikea Cafe. Then I found this N's kitchen, mainly because I saw that a coffee was amazing and very cheap. It was the Korean Internet celebrity 400 dozen coffees, which was also highly recommended by the boss.
The location of this cafe is also relatively convenient, with the window sill on the second floor overlooking the ancient city.
This 400 dozen coffee is actually caramel foam coffee. The so-called 400 dozen refers to the boss making coffee by hand 400 times. It is also easy to do. Mix coffee powder, sugar and hot water in a ratio of 1:1:1, and then beat by hand 400 times until it becomes a foam texture. Then you can add it to hot water, milk, or black coffee as you like. Here, it is directly added to milk.
Simply tasting the coffee foam on it feels a little sweet to bitter. Try to drink it while stirring the milk. Try not to try if you don't like sweet coffee.
[Xishuangbanna] You must visit this night market every day
In the end, I finally came to Xishuangbanna!
This trip to Yunnan, in addition to reviewing Dali at that time, was to see Xishuangbanna, which has different national characteristics. It seems that this year it was promoted by "The Life of Desired". In fact, Xishuangbanna itself is a very popular travel destination. It borders Laos and Myanmar, and is close to Thailand and Vietnam, so it is really full of exotic customs.
Although I mainly stayed in Jinghong City in Xishuangbanna for a few days this time, I was really satisfied, especially here. I come here every night for a long time!
In Gaozhuang, Jinghong City, there are three connected night markets, namely Xingguang Night Market, Ganbaijie Night Market and Liuguo Water Market. It really allows you to visit all at once! Moreover, the night market is next to the Shwedagon Pagoda Temple. It's really beautiful with the stupa!
As night falls, the traffic around the Shwedagon Pagoda Temple gradually becomes crowded, and tourists flock to the surrounding areas of the temple, indicating that the night market has begun.
However, after shopping for a long time, you will discover that there are basically a few things in the night market:
Special handicrafts, barbecues, coffee, fruits, salads, national costumes, folk performances, bars, etc. At this glance, it seems that there are indeed many... Hahaha! You can really see a stall in various shops within a few steps, but the barbecues are basically lined up in a series!
The coffee in Xishuangbanna is mainly Lao coffee, which tastes sweet, and amazingly is that it is packed in plastic bags first and then in paper bags.
15-18 For a bag of yuan, you can really drink it all day. It's really too much and a good deal!
Guess what ice cream this is! It tastes like Moutai!
The young ladies who set up stalls, especially those who make Dai salad dishes, are basically dressed in national costumes. They are beautiful and special. Every time they knock and fight, there are many tourists watching around. I really have never tasted the taste, but salad green papaya silk, etc., are indeed among the best snacks in Xishuangbanna!
When it comes to whether the barbecue in the night market is delicious or not, the general evaluation is... expensive and average... so you decide for yourself! If I really want to eat barbecue, I think the street stalls outside are good!
Many people say that when you come to Xishuangbanna, you can definitely eat fruits until you are full! Look at this. Any box of fruits costs only 10 yuan a box. I bought two large boxes and ate them while walking. It was really cool!
Next to the Qandai Night Market, there is a bridge along the river bank that leads to the Liuguo Water Market. It is also a very exotic market with ethnic characteristics. However, some of the things on sale are similar to night markets, and more are relatively new and foreign souvenirs.
However, it's really good to feel the current atmosphere. You can also take a cruise ship from the dock.
Perhaps it was due to the epidemic, many stores in the floating market were actually not open, and several of them obviously seemed to have closed their stores. The level of excitement was definitely not as lively as the night market.
That's right! If you come to the night market, you will find that there are many tourists wearing Dai costumes coming to take big films near the entrance or inside the night market! It's really, really, very beautiful. I don't know the specific price, but there are really many photography shops! I was once curious, why were all girls and no boys dressed for photos?
[Banna Style] Dai style is fascinating
In fact, the first day we arrived in Xishuangbanna, we were very lucky. It was a sunny day with clear skies! Although I am in the sun, I feel very comfortable. I feel that my heart, which has been continuously affected by rainy days in Lijiang, is finally much clearer!
With the large blue sky and white clouds, coupled with Dai style buildings, I really thought I had come to Southeast Asia! It's really been too long since I haven't gone abroad, and I feel very satisfied.
There are actually many scenic spots near Jinghong that are worth checking in, but because I am not very interested in natural ecological parks and wild elephants, and the only night market I am interested in is that I can only visit at night, so I thought about where to go during the day for a long time!
One is the Shwedagon Pagoda Temple, which is also a must-pass place to visit the night market every day. It actually looks somewhat similar to the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. It is one of the nine towers of Gaozhuang West Shuangjing (meaning "Nine Towers and Twelve Cities").
In this Shwedagon Pagoda full of religious atmosphere, every step you take is influenced by Buddhist culture. The square in front of the pagoda is very empty, and there are still believers praying piously. The air is filled with the atmosphere of Buddhist art, probably because of the incense.
In fact, looking at the small temple next to it, it does feel a bit like Chiang Mai. The red-brick pagoda temple is decorated with gold, and the eaves are engraved with fine patterns everywhere. Moreover, the pagoda is extremely high and looks so spectacular when looking up, giving people a sense of holiness.
The dragon statues on both sides of the stairs are also lifelike carvings, and even the dragon scales are shining. They are designed in different styles and colors, making them exquisite.
Before the night market started, there were actually quite a few tourists in the temple. Most of the people you could meet were tourists wearing Dai costumes and taking pictures as mentioned earlier.
When night fell, the lights of the pagoda also lit up, echoing the blue sky, making the pagoda more sacred and mysterious!
Another attraction I checked in Xishuangbanna is Manting Park.
Manting Park displays three major themes: "Dai royal culture, Buddhist culture, and Dai folk culture". It is also the oldest park in Xishuangbanna. Dai people's habits will call it "Spring Huan", which means "Soul Garden".
It was once the imperial garden of Dai kings in Xishuangbanna. In Dai history, it was a place where feudal lords and chieftains played and enjoyed flowers.
In fact, the main reason why many people come to Manting Park is to attend the evening bonfire party!
This is a cultural performance with very ethnic characteristics. It combines the cultural characteristics of the six Lancang-Mekong River Basin countries of China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It also includes folk customs performances of the six ethnic minorities living in Xishuangbanna Prefecture: Dai, Jino, Bulang, Lahu, Yao and Hani.
Moreover, the structure of this theater is extremely grand and magnificent. I think it is a very amazing building in Manting Park!
The park has both natural landscapes created by the land, as well as artificially cultivated exotic flowers and garden buildings. Tourists can not only play, but also make it very comfortable. Of course, you can also go boating and on the lake. The gentle breeze is even more interesting.
The holy Manxi Dragon Bamboo Pagoda has also been built in the park. This white tower has gone through the vicissitudes of time, but it still feels the worship of thousands of people. It is a very beautiful pagoda. There is also a statue of the Earth Goddess next to it, which symbolizes stability in life, abundant financial resources, protection of peace, and the realization of dreams. The spring water is still flowing gurgling, nourishing tourists.
The most favorite thing, I think, is the General Buddhist Temple, which is the center of pilgrimage for Buddhist believers in Xishuangbanna.
The building area of the courtyard is about 1100 square meters. The main buildings include the main hall called "Weihan" in Dai language, the teaching building of the Buddhist College, the monk's house "Chongnuan" and the unfinished "Bosu"(Lotus Peak Buddha Pavilion).
When I really approached the temple, I still felt the majesty and sanctity. There was a golden Buddha statue standing in the middle, and there were guardians on the left and right.
The temple is a brick-and-wood structure with three small towers in the middle of the ridge, forming the highest point of the temple. Above the door of the temple hangs a plaque of "Xishuangbanna General Buddhist Temple".
Tourists can also approach the temple to worship and pray, but they are not allowed to take photos. The interior of the temple is covered with floor glue and carpet. You need to take off your shoes to enter the temple. There are also monks praying. Tourists can buy a bracelet and hand it to the monk to open the light on the spot. People who believe in Buddhism must open the light on the spot!
There are also beautiful Jingzhen octagonal covered bridges in the park, and next to the park is the Manting Dai Village. These together form a trinity playground of the park, village and Buddhist temple.
In order to attract parent-child tourists, the attractions also have hands-on experiences in making paper, clay and other handicrafts. Further deeper, there is also the Elephant Cultural Park, where you can see parrots, peacocks, elephants, etc. There are also elephant performances. Tourists can also have intimate contact with elephants, play games or take photos.
[Banna Cuisine] Dai style is delicious and I can't leave to leave
Let me tell you, when you come to Xishuangbanna, you must eat their grilled fish and roast chicken. The main dishes of Dai restaurants here are all kinds of grilled food! The roast chicken is fresh, fragrant, tender and crispy, and it is conquered with the aroma when it is served on the table! Especially the freshly roasted chicken is absolutely delicious! Grilled fish not only tests the tenderness of the fish, but also tests the appropriateness of the seasoning mix.
You can also order fried eggs, pineapple rice, boletus, etc. to accompany them. Anyway, the taste is really great!
Then I found a hand-pilaf restaurant diagonally opposite Manting Park. This house is very magical. The name in the reviews is Yanhonghan Dai Elephant Hand-pilaf. However, we searched for it for a long time, but it was obviously right next to it but couldn't see it. It turns out that their brand name has gone through several rounds of updates, but it no longer has this name. The glue used to be used to look like it has another name...
This two-person set meal with hand-pilaf rice is quite affordable. It has pineapple rice in the middle, and the rice below is surrounded by vegetables, cucumbers, local chicken, shrimp slices, and pork belly. However, what shocked me the most was the folded ear fungus... I really can't eat it!
In the night market, you may often see meat loaf sellers. This looks very similar to rice rolls. You can see them made by hand in various stalls.
The place we found seemed to be more famous near the night market. The spokesperson was actually their children. As soon as we arrived, we heard the children constantly asking you for big and small bowls. They asked for coconut jelly. It was cool and refreshing. It was really delicious. The lady boss also highly recommended it!
In the end, the most popular thing I frequented in Xishuangbanna was coffee. In fact, local coffee was really everywhere. Not only night markets and cafes, they all sold the same coffee.
The first time, I didn't know it yet, so I searched the Internet for a relatively famous coffee shop called Guixiang Laos Iced Coffee. The cafe is actually very small, with few seats indoors. The other four or five tables are basically outdoor, but it is still quite hot.
There are special prices for online purchases. I saw that in addition to coffee, there are also local specialties called Paoluda, and I ordered a cup with curiosity. It turns out that it's coconut milk sago and bread pieces. When the bread pieces are soaked in coconut milk and eaten, it is indeed more like a dessert.
In fact, after walking over the past two weeks, I have mainly experienced the Yunnan cuisine represented by various places. It will be a little boring to stay for a few more days. I want to try something new, but I can't find something that really suits my appetite.
However, coffee and desserts can be found everywhere in every ancient city. Of course, the most distinctive one is Xishuangbanna!
