Walking route: Zhongshanmen--Mingling Road--Qianhu--Fugui Mountain Back Banshan Garden--Biwa Lake--Botanical Garden

Walking method: Walking

Because I live in the eastern suburbs, my children often wander around this area when they were young. Under the city wall is also a place where we often move. This time, I wrote the city wall as a special theme, so I searched for photos taken every few moments over the years and sorted it out, and re-enjoyed the scenery of the mountains, forests and waters from Zhongshanmen to Taipingmen City Wall.

The Ming Mausoleum route from Zhongshan Gate and next to the city wall goes deep into the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum in Zijin Mountain from south to north. The street trees on both sides of Mingling Road are tall and straight. In March of early spring, the colors here have turned green.

The light green of the branches, the dark green of the shrubs, and the tender green of the grass on the Mingling Road are highlighted here. Walking in the natural oxygen bar is refreshing and pleasing to the eye.

The mottled city wall shows the thickness of history, and the February orchids at the foot of the wall make the place lively and warm.

In May, all kinds of trees on Mingling Road are already lush, and the bright sunshine makes the green leaves bright.

Look up at the tall and powerful Ming City Wall. The leafless branches in March better match the temperament of the city wall.

The mottled ancient bricks and the lush weeds in the cracks in the walls are so admirable.

Look at the city wall from different angles. The bricks on this section of the city wall can clearly see which are historical bricks and which are later restored. The traces of Nanjing's historical protection can be clearly known here.

More than 600 years of city wall have witnessed Nanjing's history, and many oaths of love have also been witnessed under the city wall.

Walking hundreds of meters, there is an "X" shaped intersection

Continue straight at the intersection towards Ming Xiaoling, where there is a greenway that follows the city wall to the northwest. The city wall at this corner is soft and atmospheric.

Leave Mingling Road, follow the city wall, turn left and head northwest

The lush vegetation in May sets off the ancient times, giving Nanjing more spirituality, calmness and freedom than other cities.

There are two trails on the right side of the city wall, one is made of bluestone and the other is red.

Another red plastic trail took us down the jungle path. The same trail shows different charm due to different months.

Nanjing people love trees very much. They would have discussions about the relocation of a tree. Therefore, this kind of pavement design retains every tree well.

At the corner of the city wall, a clear lake came into view. This was Qianhu. The rolling mountain range in the long distance is Zhongshan. The undulating mountains, undulating green belts, and sparkling lake surfaces in the picture have a quiet beauty that combines dynamic and static.

The white shell-like building in the green trees by the lake is the flower greenhouse of Zhongshan Botanical Garden. Zhongshan Botanical Garden has planted a variety of rare tropical plants in a variety of shapes indoors to artificially create a tropical rainforest scenery. These two pictures capture almost the same scene, but because of the different months and the different weather, the overall feeling is different.

May green, sparkling green

Leaning here to see the green mountains and green lakes, what an exile it is. I like the carved stone railings on Qianhu.

Clouds fluttered on the stone railing, hugging the tender Qianhu water tightly in its arms. The stone railings under the auspicious clouds also show a romantic and dreamy vividness.

The naughty and prosperous vines extend between the square bricks and linger.

This is not a tourist attraction. There are no crowded people here. There are only citizens who really like it. The rare tranquility allows us to stop here at will, daydream, and lean on the fence to look into the distance.

These are my favorite lovely Nanjing citizens. Their straightforward appearance is very cute.

Because of love, nature is not stingy with everything it has. Here, the blue sky, green trees, and the fresh air that exudes people's hearts and lungs. Here I take a deep breath greedily, wanting to retain the fragrance of this leaf for a long time.

The azalea in May is like a silk ribbon wrapped between the green ribbons

This section of the city wall is very special. It is connected together by a steel frame structure.

The gap in Qianhu was caused by a heavy rain in Nanjing in 1991. This section of the Ming City Wall collapsed, forming a "big hole" more than 50 meters long. In order to protect and restore the city wall, a steel frame was built to connect this gap.

At the gap formed by the collapse of the wall, the cultural relics department accidentally discovered a "wall within a wall": it turned out that there was also a low wall about 10 meters high hidden in the belly of the city wall. Experts found that this low city wall was built in the early Ming Dynasty, only half the height of the current city wall, and the width ranges from 2 to 4 meters. A large number of city bricks from the Six Dynasties, Song Dynasty and other previous dynasties were also found.

In order to protect this "wall-within-wall" section, a double-decker overpass of light steel structure was built at the gap. The upper bridge deck connects the two ends of the city wall for tourists to pass through. There is also a staircase leading to the viewing platform on the lower level, where you can admire the Ming Dynasty "low city wall" originally hidden in the belly of the wall. A small house was built under the bridge. Was it originally intended to sell tickets? But at present, it is impossible to climb the stairs to see the city wall here.

Relevant departments also found a sluice when investigating the breach in the city wall. According to the inscription: The sluice was built in the early Ming Dynasty and is an important water supply system leading to the Yudai River in the city. In 2015, this Ming Dynasty sluice was conservatively restored and named "Banshanyuan sluice". Its display added a sense of history to people.

The masonry city wall matched with the steel frame connecting wall is a creative and has a different aesthetic feeling. The rich colors of May nature give this hard city wall a little tenderness and charm.

The red trails are dazzling and eye-catching in the green world.

The city wall draws a beautiful arc from the northwest to the north. Beautiful arc, beautiful wall angle. From the two corners we pass along the road, we can see that the city wall has unique design ideas and exquisite construction craftsmanship.

The city wall in May was put on a green dress. The vines quietly climb, injecting the ancient city wall with the green of life.

This section of the city wall is surrounded by mountains and rivers, winding along Fugui Mountain, like a giant dragon quietly occupying the green mountains and clear waters.

This kind of picture reminds me of a poem: "The tiger is the dragon is the tiger and the dragon is the one who wins the past." Nanjing is a place where tigers and dragons are trapped!

Nanjing's Ming City Wall was built in the Ming Dynasty. It is different from other city walls in square shape. It is like a flexible dragon winding between the beautiful mountains and rivers of Nanjing. As it circles, I can see the integration of the city wall and the mountains and rivers from different angles.

The city wall moved westward again, and the overall view looked like a straightened "Z" shape. Walking on the quiet path, the front became a little more lively.

It turns out that there is a small city gate here-Houbanshan Garden. On the other side of the city wall are the lively Urban area-Banshan Garden and Fugui Mountain. And here is unique tranquility. A city wall quietly separates the prosperous city from the silent mountains and forests, dividing the city into two completely different worlds. In the city, it is noisy and noisy; outside the city, it is quiet and fresh;

The shade of the tree completely covers the small bluestone road, as if you have walked into a forest. Walking on the path covered with green trees, you can smell the smell of trees, the fragrance of leaves, the smell of forest and a faint flavor of history.

Walking along the city wall, a crystal clear jade was inlaid in a mountain depression within a few steps. It has a nice name-Lake Biwa. Biwa Lake is slightly smaller than Qianhu. It is located at the foot of the beautiful Zhongshan Mountain.

Nestled against the powerful and thick city wall.

The endless city wall ring embraces the southwest side of Lake Biwa. The clear lake water and the mottled city wall are closely connected and reflect each other. The natural features of the mountains and rivers meet with the profound historical relics.

A beautiful picture of the city wall, mountains and forests and lake water combined. You can feel the grace, beauty, tranquility of the lake, and the atmosphere revealed in its softness. You can also feel the majestic, vicissitudes and thickness of the city wall, and its thickness is full of tolerance.

Staggered by the lake, the beautiful scenery amazes me. I simply stopped and sat quietly on the wooden plank road. Being close enough to touch the city wall and the lake. Enjoy a comfortable and leisurely time here. There is such a place in a big city that makes me slow down, take a deep breath, abandon impetuosity, and relax, which makes me grateful.

On the east side of the lake, several small wooden plank roads penetrate deep into the lake.

Treasure in the water!

This section of the city wall on the south side of Lake Biwa is the only section of the Ming City Wall that is water-friendly. Accompanied by the thick and vicissitudes of the Ming City Wall, Biwa Lake swayed by water, grass and duckweed, and green willows accompanied by dancing women. Because of the agility of water, it has become the most beautiful city wall in Nanjing City.

What is even more wonderful is that on the water next to the city wall, a long wooden trestle connects the two sides. Nanjing is located in the south of the Yangtze River, where there is abundant rain, with rolling hills, rivers, and lakes and ponds dotted with it. The location of the city wall is either rocky, low-lying and soft, or flat as a whetstone. In order to prevent the tall city wall from sinking, cracking and toppling, the builders adopted different scientific treatment methods according to the requirements of the project. Some are built along the mountain, with the city walls and mountain rocks integrated into the whole; some dig deep into the original soil and lay huge rocks as the foundation. Think about a tall city wall that has been more than 600 years old in the water. Not to mention the unique design idea, but the difficulty of the design is that during the construction process, the requirements and capabilities for building materials and construction processes are superb and excellent. Whether walking on the city wall or accompanying the city wall, it can be seen from the unique city wall design that Nanjing Ming City Wall is an ancient Chinese military defense facility and a masterful work of wall construction technology in terms of historical value, ornamental value, architectural design, scale, and function.

The lake water is directly under the roots of the city wall and can be passed along a trestle. The green green in the distance and the clear water nearby, a plank road meanders along the lake, seemingly blending into the green forest beside the water. It is very comfortable and detached, making you can't bear to look away. A walk on the bridge allows you to get into close contact with this ancient city wall and the tender lake water.

Water-friendly kiosk

Looking up at the city wall through the layers of colorful leaves, I am intoxicated by the rich colors presented in one picture. The new green in May is really beautiful. Coupled with the bright but not hot sunshine in May, the green leaves and red maples have an incomparable brightness.

Different angles also make the sense of light different.

I came here in the early spring of March, and I was close to it again in the early summer of May. Changes in the seasons bring changes in the scenery. Walking in such nature all the way, I saw beautiful scenery in my eyes, heard the pleasant sound of nature, and breathed extremely fresh oxygen. I feel extremely comfortable physically and mentally, and I have no worries anymore.

Whether it is Qianhu or Biwa Lake, the beauty of the scenery is secondary. What moves us most is the pictures like this. Family, loved ones, fishing, picnicking, and walking together. Or just sit down at nothing, just sit quietly with her.

A group of photography enthusiasts captured the beauty of the scenery in a proper manner.

Looking at the city wall from the east bank of the former lake. Here you can see a panoramic view of the steel frame connection. After experiencing vicissitudes of infirmity, it was constructed with modern technology to allow passage of the originally inaccessible city wall. This is the perfect combination of classics and modernity, and it is a different kind of beauty.

This is the picture of me coming to the South Garden of the Botanical Garden in April this year (2021) and looking at the city wall across the front lake.

The exquisitely carved glass exhibition halls of the modern Botanical Garden complement each other with the ancient city walls, connecting Nanjing's past and present.

I took the picture standing in the small square at the entrance of the exhibition hall of the glass house. The colorful tulips and chicken claw maples nearby, the blue front lake water in the middle view, the silhouette of the tall and majestic city wall in the distant view, rich colors and rich layers.

This section of the city wall is different from the city wall centered on Taicheng. It is not a conventional attraction. It is just a popular place for locals. Walking here, you avoid the hustle and bustle of the city, as if you have entered an ethereal realm without the concept of time. In an instant, your soul is locked in the tranquility of history and the beauty of mountains, rivers, cities and forests.

Nanjing's city wall is surrounded by mountains and rivers. The city wall does not follow the old system of square or rectangular shapes in ancient capitals, and winds for more than 30 kilometers. Nanjing people have inexplicable plots about the city wall. They like to stroll on the city wall to see the scenery of the city forest they love. They like to stroll on the greenway beside the city wall and enjoy the different beautiful scenery. There are still sections of Nanjing's city wall that I have not yet visited. I will continue to measure it with my footsteps and experience the unique and unique Nanjing city wall.
