The APEC meeting was held in Beijing from November 7 to 12, 2014. Government agencies and institutions in Beijing had a six-day holiday. The newspaper I work for is in Beijing, which gives me the privilege of enjoying the APEC holiday as a resident in Shanghai. However, due to a relative's wedding reception on November 8, this self-driving trip can only be arranged in the last three days of the holiday. I was arranged to go to Nanjing for the past three days. The weather forecast said that there would be light rain in many places in the Yangtze River Delta, but Nanjing was forecast to be cloudy. But in fact, the weather in Nanjing for three days was very bad, basically cloudy. I have been to Nanjing more than 10 times, and I have gone on a self-driving tour three times in the past 4 years alone. When I visit Nanjing again and again, there are still many scenic spots and excellent buildings that need to be "filled in". For example, I visited Nanjing Presidential Palace, Zhanyuan and other scenic spots for the first time during this trip. Nanjing is the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, but many Shanghainese are not as interested in visiting Nanjing as Hangzhou. In fact, in-depth tours of Nanjing are still very rewarding. Especially for those who are interested in the history of the Republic of China and its architecture, there are many places worth seeing in Nanjing. The entire journey is 688 kilometers. What is more special is that this Nanjing self-driving tour ended in Suzhou. Out of love for the time-honored brand Zhu Hongxing, when returning to Shanghai from Nanjing, I went to Changmen, Suzhou to taste Zhu Hongxing's freshly fried shredded eel noodles with toppings.

November 9, 2014 (cloudy to cloudy, 9 to 15 degrees)

At 9:30, we set off from our home in Pudong, Shanghai.

At 10:12, I arrived at Jiangqiao Toll Station of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway and traveled a total of 29 kilometers.

At 10:37, I arrived at Anting Toll Station on Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway. I traveled a total of 49 kilometers and charged 15 yuan for the highway.

At 11:01, I arrived at the Yangcheng Lake Service Area of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway to rest and drove a total of 86 kilometers.

When passing through Wuxi, there were a large number of facial tissues flying on a 2 - 3-kilometer section of the highway.

At 12:19, I arrived at the Douzhuang service area of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway to rest and drove a total of 215 kilometers. Add No. 92 oil for 121 yuan, 6.89 yuan/liter.

At 13:07, I arrived at the Nanjing Toll Station of the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway. I traveled a total of 294 kilometers and charged 110 yuan for the highway.

Get off the highway and go to Liu Changxing Store near Weigang first. Liu Changxing is a time-honored Chinese brand in Nanjing, founded in 1901.

Central Hotel was a rare high-end hotel in Nanjing in the 1930s and 1940s.

Nanjing salted duck, 17.50 yuan/catty, is significantly cheaper than Shanghai.

On the east side of the Central Hotel is the Jiangsu Province Art Museum.

The north side of the Central Hotel is the Nanjing Presidential Palace Scenic Area. Admission is 40 yuan. In the early years of the Ming Dynasty, this place was once the Mansion of Marquis Guidde and the Mansion of King Han. In the Qing Dynasty, there were Jiangning Weaving Office, Jiangnan Governor Office, and Liangjiang Governor Office. In 1853, the Taiping Army occupied Nanjing and established Tianjing as the capital. Hong Xiuquan built the large-scale Taiping Tianchao Palace (Tianwang Mansion) here. After the Qing army broke through Nanjing, it burned down the palace buildings and rebuilt the Liangjiang Governor's Office in the ninth year of Tongzhi (1870). On January 1, 1912, Sun Yat-sen was sworn in as interim president of the Republic of China here. Shortly after the Nanjing National Government was established in April 1927, it moved here in September. On May 20, 1948, the National Government was renamed the Presidential Palace.

The west side of the Nanjing Presidential Palace Scenic Area is Block 1912, which consists of 17 buildings in the style of the Republic of China and four street squares: "Republic","Charity","New Century" and "Pacific". Due to time constraints, I couldn't go and have a look this time.

Along the Yangtze River Road to the west and crossing Beiting Lane is the former site of the National Art Exhibition Hall, which is now the Jiangsu Province Art Museum.

Across the street from the former site of the National Art Exhibition Hall is the Jiangning Weaving Museum.

Nanjing Library. Next to the library is Carrefour Nanjing Daxinggong Store, which has an underground garage where you can park your car when visiting the Presidential Palace. If you shop at Carrefour for more than 50 yuan, you can park for free for 1.5 hours.

In the evening, I tasted aftertaste duck blood vermicelli soup. Over the past 10 years, I have opened more than 30 restaurants in Nanjing, making it a good place to taste duck blood vermicelli soup.

The films on the wall of the restaurant are the main attractions in Nanjing, and friends who have been to Nanjing should be very familiar with them.

There are many places to eat near the hotel, including the osmanthus duck store. Early in the morning, my wife went out and bought Qijiawan pot stickers and Nanjing salted duck. We had a good meal in the guest room first. It is worth mentioning that Qijiawan pot stickers have almost become the signboard of Nanjing beef pot stickers. They are found all over the street, but in fact may not be authentic. I found relevant information about the authentic Qijiawan beef pot stickers in the media, but I didn't have time to try them this time.

The picture below shows Jinjiang Inn Nanjing Forestry University Huayuan Road Hotel. Interestingly, there are actually two Jinjiang Inn stores on the same house numbers 6-10 Huayuan Road, and on the south side is Jinjiang Inn Nanjing Long-distance Bus East Station Hotel. I chose Huayuan Road Hotel of Forestry University. First, the accommodation price here is slightly lower. Second, the rooms are not facing the street and sleep quietly at night. The fly in the ointment is that there are not many parking spaces for these two Jinjiang Inns, and parking on the roadside makes people feel a little uneasy. Later, I saw a garage in China Resources Suguo, more than 200 meters away. The young man there was a nice man and asked me to park the car for free overnight.

Ming Palace Ruins Park, free attraction. The Ming Palace Museum site is the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council on May 25, 2006. It is an ancient site and the era is Ming Dynasty. This is the blueprint of the Forbidden City in Beijing.

Zhongshan East Road divides the Ming Palace Museum site into two.

More than 200 meters west along Zhongshan East Road is China's Second Historical Archives.

Further west is Zhongshan Hotel. This is the former site of Inspirational Society. You can enter and take photos. The former site of the Inspirational Society is the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council on March 15, 2013. It is an important historical site and representative building category in modern times. The period is from 1929 to 1931.

Zhanyuan, known as the "No. 1 Garden in Jinling", costs 30 yuan. Zhanyuan, the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council on May 25, 2006, is in the category of ancient buildings, and the period is from the Ming to the Qing Dynasty.

Nanjing Confucius Temple Scenic Area. This is Nanjing's cultural and educational center during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is a good place to visit Nanjing and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the Qinhuai River.

There are two attractions in the Confucius Temple Scenic Area that charge fees, one is Confucius Temple and the other is Gongyuan. Nanjing Confucius Temple is a place where Confucius is enshrined and sacrificed, and is one of the four major Confucian temples in China. For most tourists, visiting the Confucius Temple Scenic Area may not necessarily enter the above two attractions. They mainly shop around the Qinhuai River.

Yonghe Garden is a time-honored Chinese brand. Its sesame cakes and Kaiyang dried silk are one of the "Eight Wonders of Qinhuai". Yonghe Garden was originally near the Gongyuan of Confucius Temple, but is now located at the entrance of Dasifu Lane on Jiankang Road. Lvliuju next to Yonghe Garden is also a time-honored Chinese brand.

Dongshuiguan is one of the components of Nanjing City Wall. Nanjing City Wall, the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council on January 13, 1988, is ancient buildings, and the era is Ming.

From Dongshuiguan, you can walk to Zhonghua Gate by walking the city wall, which is about 3 kilometers. Admission is 50 yuan. This is actually an entrance and exit to the Zhonghuamen Scenic Area.

The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Nanjing City is the site of the Wu Temple. It was one of the ten temples in the Ming Dynasty, where it was dedicated to Guan Yu, the son of Wu Fu.

On Jimingsi Mountain, you can see the ancient city wall of Nanjing and Xuanwu Lake on the north side.

The gate of Nanjing City Government was originally the former site of the National Government Examination Institute and was one of the former sites of the National Government of the "National Security Council".

At 19:30, I arrived at Jiangqiao Toll Station of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway. I traveled a total of 658 kilometers and charged 15 yuan for the highway.

At 20:27, I returned to my home in Pudong, Shanghai, and drove a total of 688 kilometers.
