Yuyuan
Address: Fujiabian Shanao Village, southern foot of Wuxiang Mountain, Lishui
Tickets: None
I came to Yuyuan because I accidentally saw a tourist photo on Ctrip. I was very surprised. I felt that due to the epidemic, work was suspended from time to time, and I had time to take a good look around Nanjing. Even if I had never been to it, I should have heard of it. Why is this Yuyuan unfamiliar? Set off, navigate Yuyuan, and look at the map. Isn't the location of Yuyuan Shanao Village in Lishui? In 2017, I passed by this village when I was touring Wuxiang Mountain with my parents. I drove around the village. I didn't know there was a Yuyuan? Arriving here with doubts, the navigation is very accurate. The cars were parked on the roadside, and we parked the cars like this. It can be seen from these enclosures that this place is still under construction and improvement.
There is now a beautiful Yuyuan in Shanjiao Village, deeply embedded in Wuxiang Mountain. The center of the entire garden is a pond, surrounded by archways, mansions, shops, residential houses, stage, pavilions, pavilions, bridges and other antique buildings. The buildings are rich in content and vary in shapes. The building is surrounded by low mountains and hills and is integrated with green mountains, streams, and cultural allusions, showing the natural scenery and traditional architectural art of Shanao Village. The pond reflects the shadows of green trees and mountains, with sparkling waves flashing, framed with the white walls and black tiles by the pool, just like a natural light-color ink painting.
On the south side of the lake, there is a curved bridge connecting the north and south of the lake.
There is a plum pavilion at the east end of the Qu Bridge
On the west side of the lake is a stone road paved with bluestone. On one side of the road is a commercial street and on the other side are two hydrophilic promenades.
The wooden corridor has laminated eaves, rich carvings, and the exquisiteness of carpentry craftsmanship is amazing.
There is a water pavilion on the south side of the water-friendly corridor, which is a good place to rest by the water. The beauty stalls around the water pavilion can allow tourists to rest and enjoy the scenery.
On the north side of the corridor, there are pavilions with cornices at one or two corners. At first glance, it is obvious that they are not from the same era as the water-friendly corridor. In fact, after walking around Yuyuan, I slowly discovered that Yuyuan was not an ancient village, but a built garden, but it was not simply a man-made garden. To be precise, Yuyuan is a carrier of old and new buildings, or it can be said that this is a new model of architecture! Builders collected valuable old building constructions and materials from all over the Yangtze River, mainly Anhui, and used them in the newly built antique buildings in the village. Through the repair and innovative utilization of these traditional buildings, they created a "traditional ancient village in the Yangtze River.".
The Hui-style folk houses with white walls and black tiles and cornices and corners are like a simple and elegant ink painting
The clean white walls reflect each kind and simple heart and tell the plain past.
There is a wide viewing platform close to the water between two hydrophilic corridors standing side by side. All 360 degrees on the observation deck are scenery. The Hui style houses lined along the pond have undulating rocks and rocks, small pavilions overlooking the scenery, and trees dotted with them. All of these are reflected in the water, making them extremely simple and elegant.
A commercial street running through the north and south of Yuyuan has a nice name-Xihua Street. The Hui-style buildings with single eaves and angled corners and finely carved rows of two-story wooden buildings face north. Between the stone roads, there is a clear stream gurgling from top to bottom, and there are small stone bridges one after another, stretching across it in the east-west direction. The flowing stream makes Xihua Street, which is still under construction in the middle of the gate, look simple and lively.
Here, Taohuatan in Wuxiang Mountain is the upper water outlet, and Shenshan Lake in Shanao Village is the lower water outlet. Living water runs through Xihua Street, presenting a water town village layout of "a stream runs through the village and a city surrounds the water".
Here is a magnificent flower exploration shop archway. The archway was built in 1902 by Nie Jizhen, governor of Anhui Province. Through the protection of the old building, we moved to Shanao Village.
Wuxiang Mountain Residence adopts a brick-carved gate building with eight-walled archway style. It has double floors and eight arches, and flying eaves and angled corners. It is spectacular. Elephant stone carvings are arranged on both sides of the gate, implying wealth and good fortune. This gatehouse, whether in terms of the collocation of stones, shape or stone carving art, all demonstrate the art of the Hui-style gatehouse. In the same space, there is a shiny lacquer archway and a powerful and exquisite stone gatehouse. These two should be old buildings protected in other places. If this is the case, it will be a surprise. When I visited Huangshan City in the past, I could see such building transplants in many places. The builders completely relocated valuable traditional buildings that survived in remote mountainous areas but were difficult to protect locally to certain areas in the Urban area, repaired them,"relocated them", and carried out an architectural integration, giving these old buildings new life and giving new buildings some historical heritage, killing two birds with one stone.
The building is now a shop selling tourist goods and some desserts, coffee, drinks and the like.
The horse-head walls on Xihua Street are scattered high and low, stacked like a string of musical notes.
The wood carving window has passed for a long time, and there is a feeling of passing through in a trance. There are many houses on the street, but most of them are closed doors, and there are not many houses under operation. Yuyuan may have just begun, and there is no rush to provide commercial supporting facilities. During the tour, we saw many tour groups, mostly elderly people. Groups of 30 to 40 people were guided by tour guides to visit each mansion. It seems that Yuyuan is the highlight of rural tourism in Lishui. Because it is a new attraction, it is also an excellent publicity measure to let more people know about it in this way! As long as you avoid these tourist groups, it will be quiet and pleasant to walk here.
In the middle section of Xihua Street, there is a stone road that runs eastward around the lake
The small pavilion with six-corner cornices on the hill by the lake occupies the highest point, overlooking Yuyuan.
Huge rocks of different sizes and thicknesses are piled up to form the scenery along the way intentionally but unintentionally. The beautiful shadows of pavilions and pavilions, the raised eaves, and the tall and straight pillars look for the pavilions and corridors, sit quietly for a moment, and feel the ancient Zen realm.
There are unique caves in the rocks, and the forest building technique of stacking stones creates a scene within the scene.
I came to the pavilion and photographed the core landscape of Yuyuan from a slight overhead perspective. This way of building a garden is also like the villages of the Hui style. Most Hui style villages have a central pond. If there is a garden, there is a central lake with a larger area. The rocks and vegetation around the lake create a scenic landscape. A pool of clear water is surrounded by traditional buildings such as the ancient stage, Zeng's Courtyard, Zhou Bangyan Memorial Hall, Jimei Pavilion, and Lanyue Tower.
The wooden hydrophilic corridor on the west side of the lake is peaceful and elegant, like a painted boat in the water moored quietly by the lake. The water-friendly corridor and the Hui-style houses along the street with powder walls, black tiles, and horse-head walls are neatly reflected in the lake water, creating layered illusions.
On the north side of the lake is a group of buildings and a large house-Zeng's Courtyard. The compound is centered on the main house "Chengjing Hall", and the rest of the buildings diverge from both sides of the main house. There is a shadow wall in front of the main entrance of Chengjing Hall, engraved with the words "Si Cheng" and "Shen Du". They are important concepts of Confucian cultivation. It is probably also intended to teach the Zeng family "family precepts"!
Dayingbi
Starting from the gate of Chengjing Hall in the Zeng Family Courtyard, a large number of carving arts such as brick carving, wood carving, and stone carving can be seen everywhere.
The Chengjingtang building is very large, with a mixed building of brick, stone and wood. The entire building has three entrances, two patios and two middle halls. The house has a complete structure. The longitudinal central axis of the entire courtyard is symmetrically distributed left and right. All pillars and pillars are hundreds of years old ginkgo, cypress, iron power, red red camphor wood, etc.
These buildings are the same as most of the building components in Yuyuan. In order to restore them to their original state, the builders invited a number of relevant architectural and cultural institutions to conduct textual research on the age and content of the carved components, and then invited the inheritors of carving skills from all over the country to repair them.
Zeng Jiaxun
On both sides of Chengjing Hall, there are Baizi Hall, Fragrant Torreya Tower and Yuxiu Tower respectively
The Baizitang on the west side has a small door, but the various stone structures on the door are indeed complex but exquisitely matched together.
Although Baizitang's door is not big, it suddenly becomes clear when you enter the world.
Sunlight shines from the patio, bringing warmth to the mansion.
Baizitang is a place where the men in the family live, so most of them use century-old cypress trees. Although this place is newly built, the interior and exterior decorations of the houses and many structures are all transported from the original objects of the Hui-style buildings in southern Anhui, retaining the antique charm.
An unknown plant has red leaves that seem to warm the cold white walls and gray tiles.
Fragrant Torreya House is a place where women live. The door of this house is closed, so they cannot enter and visit it.
Yuxiu Tower is also occupied by the female family.
The Zeng Family Courtyard is composed of 19 buildings of different types and more than 30 courtyards, showing the style of a mansion. The entire building complex combines official hall style, residential style building and Soviet-style courtyard, as well as some courtyard elements and a Fujian-style family temple. The overall courtyard is magnificent, exquisite and elegant. It also shows the deep courtyard, the majestic family background, the order of the elders and young, and the difference between men and women inside and outside the patriarchal etiquette system.
This is the side door of Zhou Bangyan Lefang, a house facing the water view. The side door is narrow and has a nice name for "Qiu Ju".
This mansion is Zhou Bangyan Music Shop. Zhou Bangyan was a famous poet in the Northern Song Dynasty. He was proficient in music and served as the magistrate of Lishui County. the building
The beginning was a Hunan Guild Hall built by Zeng Guofan in Anhui.
The mansion faces the water and mountain views, and the eyes are full of beauty.
Step into the house and look back again. The door is like a framing frame, framing the beautiful scenery in the garden.
This patio is very special
It is not the common square shape, but a multi-prismatic patio that is approximately oval.
White clouds float across a corner of the horse-head wall, and the sun shines on the patio, creating a trance through time in the house.
Every detail in the building is so beautiful
A well covered with moss in the patio gives the courtyard a more ancient artistic conception.
The house is a central axis building with five entrances, four wells and three courtyards. The materials are exquisite and the carving is extremely exquisite. The three courtyards are connected to each other and divided into independent areas. Each courtyard has a second floor and has many rooms.
The wood carving of each window is different
Looking out from the window on the second floor, imagine yourself as the eldest daughter of the house.
Looking through this side door called "Qiuju", we looked at the mansion of the Zeng family compound. I like the two stone lions in front of the door very much. Their expressions are gentle but majestic.
The central water view you see when you step out of the door
At the north end of the lake, the Zeng Family Courtyard we had just walked through
April is the season for Azalea red
Looking up at the wooden gatehouse built outside the building, with four pillars and three doors, and the two-story and six-corner cornices seemed to fly into the sky.
Each character and story of these carved beams and painted buildings tells the prosperity of the past and the pride of the golden archery and iron horse.
The picture in front of Zhou Bangyan's Music Square shows Yuyuan like an architectural garden with the style of a Jiangnan water town, and also like an ancient Hui-style town that accidentally fell into Jiangnan. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with flowers and trees like forests. There are both wild flowers and mountains and forests. There are both rippling blue waves and curling smoke.
A few steps further, there is an ancient stage. The stage is very large and is a double-sided stage. The double-sided stage is one of the rare ones in China, also known as the Qingyu Stage. You can see both sides of the stage and the front desk. This is the side facing the water.
The ancient stage has black pillars and red beams, decorated with colorful carvings, making it magnificent. The theater building is a two-sided theater with five bays and nine ridges. An outer stage can be used on sunny days and an inner stage can be used on rainy days. Baidu understands that the stage is made of exquisite materials. The two mahogany columns in front of the middle hall with a diameter of more than 60 centimeters are made of chicken wing wood. The stone piers of the middle hall are carved from the famous stone of Yi County and decorated with exquisite embossed patterns."The entire stage has more than 200,000 components. The oldest component has a history of more than 700 years and took more than 100 craftsmen 3 years and 8 months to complete it."
When you come to the stage, you have a broad vision and a clear mind. You can imagine the famous characters of the old days, with their graceful figures, the sleeves of the stage dancing gently, and the long and soft tones are emitted. The singing has painted the faces of many audiences and shattered the hearts of many audiences.
Above the stage, the view is wide, and every building presents traditional Chinese architectural techniques such as carving. Viewing from different angles brings us different experiences.
The front and rear stages are separated by such carved doors and windows, and from here, you can enter the inner stage in a flash.
The two-sided stage is the side facing the courtyard.
The inner and outer domes of the entire stage are square on the outside and round on the inside, with a unique style. The carved decoration of the beam corridor dome is exquisitely and lifelike.
The architectural components of the inner stage are more exquisite, and various colors make the stage look magnificent.
Look at the magical roof under the golden glory.
I sat quietly on the stage and silently looked at the courtyard in front of me for a while.
The stage is very unique, and it would be more appropriate to call the entire building a theater. The entire theater building has three entrances and two courtyards. The patio in front of the theater building has a wide view and is easy to view. There are two-story viewing towers and wing rooms on both sides. They are all traditional wooden structures and equipped with a large number of carvings. There are characters and flowers, which are exquisite, delicate, lifelike, simple and luxurious.
In the viewing stage opposite the stage, rows of audience seats were sitting upright, as if waiting for famous actors to stage.
Erjin is a place where the audience enjoys the opera. Several large pillars made of precious trees support the lobby with an imposing manner. It can also be clearly seen here that some pillars are age-old historical components. During the restoration, they were rebuilt based on the original house structure and combined with the local cultural style and the needs of modern people's life and experience. It not only inherits and protects ancient buildings, but also innovates and reuses them.
There are more than 100 stories of characters on the stage inside and outside the stage. They are exquisitely carved and luxuriously decorated. Looking around, they are magnificent.
Hanging, diagonal bracing, sparrow replacement, flower window... Every detail is exquisitely crafted, and the overall momentum is majestic and beautiful.
The sun fills the house, the narrow stairs, the exquisite wood carvings, and the mysterious patio. When you look at them, you will encounter an unexpected encounter with the old times.
Stepping on the wooden stairs creaking, I came to the corridor on the second floor and looked down at the theater. The second-floor pure wooden house has wooden buildings and windows. The color is dark. I don't know if it is a newly built house or a "translation" of the old house. Let's just treat it as an old house. At this time, there were only us in the entire theater, and everything was silent. The ancient stage seemed to be as if a play had just come to an end, and the lingering sound was still echoing in the mountain valley. In a trance, I thought that if I was wearing Han clothes at this time, I must have traveled to another era.
Leaving the stage that made me feel trance and returning to the present.
On the south side of the stage, there is a large Baifu Shading Wall, with a large "Fu" character in the middle. The characters "Fu" of different shapes and different writing styles are neatly and orderly carved around. There is a brick carvings on the base. On the north side of the wall is a brick carvings of hundreds of cranes, and on both sides are carvings of wealth and glory. If you look carefully, you will find that there are characters Xi on the wall, which also imply: "Lu","Shou", and "wealth", which means: blessing Lu, longevity and happiness for wealth, a sign of praying for the world.
On the south side of the pond is the Plum Delivery Pavilion with double eaves and upturned corners. Between the Jimei Pavilion and the stage is a high-level bridge with a steep slope. The pond in the foreground holds both the pavilion and the bridge in his arms, and together with the green mountains in the background and the pavilions on the green mountains, they form a rich and layered picture.
In this way, we had a 360-degree landscape appreciation with the pond as the center. Yuyuan is not a natural ancient village, nor is it a natural Jiangnan garden. I don't know what word to use to define it. It is located faintly at the southern foot of Wuxiang Mountain in Lishui, resting on the mountain and leaning against the water. Through archways, music halls, and stage that "translate" various places... These ancient buildings have been repaired, innovated and utilized to form a traditional ancient village in the south of the Yangtze River. The garden is very new. Walking in it, you can feel the profound ancient charm of the carvings with flying eaves and arched arches, and stone carvings. But the feeling of pairing these contemporary buildings with the brand-new garden is really weird. It is not a real village. Because the traces are too obvious, it is a place for people to visit. Perhaps Yuyuan is pursuing such a new model!
My fellow travelers looked down on the place very much and felt that it was not like it and was not worth visiting. I just listened silently and did not express my opinion. But I was still indignant. Why do some people still have so much dissatisfaction when faced with such a place with mountains, rivers, buildings and feelings? No matter what Yuyuan is positioned, it does not prevent it from being a beautiful picture. It also gives Nanjing people a place to come and walk on weekends. So during the two or three hours we were here, several elderly tour groups of Nanjing citizens came here with the tour guide. This is everyone's attitude and recognition towards Yuyuan.
The scene while driving away confirmed his idea that he had been to this village. Gradually found my memories and drove to Changtangqiu Reservoir in Shanao Village based on my impressions.
In order to support tourism, a citizen square is now built on one side of the reservoir.
On the return journey, although the scenery was beautiful, it was regrettable that a beautiful trip was different from that of my companions. In fact, it really doesn't matter where you go on the journey. What matters is whether your traveling companions are interesting and in tune.
When writing this travel note, I flipped through an itinerary in May 2017,"Nanjing People Watching Nanjing-Lishui Wuxiang Mountain". Sure enough, there are clear records here. At that time:
I ran into a village on the way. This is the first phase of the Lishui Yuyuan project, a protection project for an ancient village.
The ancient archway on the roadside immediately attracted us to stop and the car turned into the village.
The village archway in Shanao Village at the intersection of the road, the folk houses in the village, the horse-head walls, and the Hui-style buildings with white walls and gray tiles.
Writing travel notes is really a good habit. It can help us record and reminisce about life. It turned out that in May 2017, Yuyuan was being built in the village. At that time, this old archway was a treasure of ancient houses in Anhui. So I also watched Yuyuan grow up! I hope Yuyuan can get better and better, and I hope it doesn't charge, haha!
