In an article, I saw some niche ways to play in Nanjing. There are several places that I have never been to. Among them, there is Vander Art District. I wrote down this place name and always wanted to find a chance to visit it. This opportunity will last until the college entrance examination season in June. The child was taking the exam nearby and sent him to the examination room. While waiting, I walked to the nearby Internet celebrity neighborhood for two and a half days.
You enter by driving from the south gate of the block, which is the door immediately under the Yingtian Elevated Road. My memory played back as we navigated closer here. I have been here before. It is actually the original Chenguang Machinery Factory. In the early years, relying on Chenguang's old factory building, it was transformed into a creative district integrating leisure, entertainment and business office-1865 Creative Industrial Park. This was introduced in my article "Nanjing People Look at Nanjing-Characteristic Districts" a few years ago: you.ctrip.com/travels/nanjing9/3404077.html
So what is the relationship between Vander Art District and 1865 Creative Industrial Park? Start wandering with this doubt.
The car entered from the Southwest Gate and parked in front of this light creamy building. This building looks extraordinary. It is indeed a special school for military engineering.
The history of the school can be seen from the introduction in front of the building: In January 1917, Hanyang Arsenal established Hanyang Military Engineering Specialized School to cultivate specialized military personnel. In October 1928, it was renamed Hanyang Military Engineering College of the Ministry of Military Affairs. In July 1932, he moved to Nanjing and changed its name to the National Government Military Engineering School. After the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War, they moved to Zhuzhou, Hunan Province one after another in November 1937, then moved to Chongqing, Wusong, Shanghai, and on January 16, 1949, they moved to Hualien, Taiwan. This school is the predecessor of the Institute of Technology of Taiwan National Defense University.
This building later served as the site of Nanjing Chenguang Company's Technical School.
On the lush West Ring Road of Jinling Manufacturing Bureau, you can see the tower of the towering Dabaoen Temple not far away. Looking from afar, the temple tower behind the tall green trees is also beautiful.
Start at the southwest corner! Rows of street trees outline tall and rugged industrial buildings.
Tall and straight trees and cold and hard buildings. Walking among them, you seem to hear them telling the story of the passionate years and recalling those scattered memories...
Under the hard frames, there are now art workshops one after another. Pottery has always been a very artistic style.
wine shop
In addition to its hard exterior, the decoration in the store also has a strong industrial style. The exposed iron frames, black wrought iron stairs, partitions, and wrought iron chandeliers all have tough lines and a retro industrial style.
Long corridor in the factory
The small objects in the corridor are obvious treasures at a glance.
A soft dessert shop is opened in a renovated factory building.
Sitting in the dessert shop and looking out the window, the scene was dripping green everywhere, and my heart melted.
From the door of the large open room of the factory, we came to the open space between the factory buildings.
The open space has been transformed into open-air resting seats. Big trees stand tall here, and several large red parasols under the trees cover the summer sun. Stay here, listen to the birds singing, and enjoy the calm atmosphere of the old building.
Look at this road sign and you will know how rich the content here is. There are art galleries, art workshops, collections, teahouses, incense halls, piano halls...
Here you can appreciate, listen, stop and sip tea, and there is always one thing that makes you stop and rejoice.
A little bit of a door face is rich in content.
Taisi Tea Pavilion is a clean place in the bustling city.
Tea drinking culture is the essence of the entire Chinese nation's culture. In the eyes of some people, tea is both material and spiritual.
From the name to the store decoration style, it fully reflects the antique Chinese charm. Elegant environment, fragrant tea...
Here you can enjoy the Chinese tea ceremony, tea art, or just hold a cup of green tea in your hand to relax your body and mind.
Exquisite copper pots in the Taisi Tea Pavilion
The simple and elegant woman suits the atmosphere here very well.
You can find your favorite gadgets here at "Shiyu 'er". I bought some hand-knitted bracelets here and gave them to my little girlfriends.
The elegant and refined Guqin Club takes every teaching and learning seriously.

Physical art
The creative paintings on the gray brick walls add a little more interest to the industrial-style corridor.
Every detail here is worth slowly viewing. Everything, whether preserved or transformed, is a story. Some of the various pipelines are traces of history, and some are still playing a modern role.
diamond jewellery
And this cute baby gives this cold corridor a little more vitality.
Filter through shops one after another along the corridor. Some shops are in operation, and many are guarded by iron generals. The overall flow of people was not much. Sometimes I was the only one wandering in the corridor, but I enjoyed the tranquility and freedom. Go straight, turn, surprise at the corner of the corridor.
The pool placed in the corridor is transformed from the original cooling pool, and a group of goldfish swim in it. The feeling of life and agility means the new connotation and artistic conception of this space given by Vander.
Skip shop after shop and walk through long corridors to the outside.
A Chenguang Avenue running through the north and south
Looking at the Bauhaus-style factory where I was just in on Chenguang Avenue. A serrated building, a triangular frame, an arched blue brick drywall, and a window on the wall... This kind of through-window connected shape is unique in shape and has particularly good lighting.
The various weapons and equipment lined up on Chenguang Avenue outside the factory allow us to understand history more vividly and vividly and understand the flow of history. At that time, the Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau produced two cannons. One was a retreating Kruson barrel. In 1888, the Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau was the first to manufacture the first retreating Kruson barrel with moving wheels for China. The other is a "copper cannon" manufactured by the Jinling Machinery Manufacturing Bureau, which was manufactured in the 1870s.
Before the 1970s, Jinling Manufacturing Bureau had always been the main force in the production of domestic military products.
You can imagine how the craftsmen of those days made weapons one by one in such factories, creating the vanguard movement of Chinese industry.
Jinling Arsenal Factory Logo.
At the southern end of Chenguang Avenue is the archway of Jinling Manufacturing Bureau. The archway has restored the scene at that time, and today it still looks majestic and eye-catching. The predecessor of Jinling Arsenal was the Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau. It was founded in 1865 and was one of the four major military enterprises established during the Westernization Movement in my country in the 1860s. The factory has gone through three historical periods: the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China. Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau is a pioneer in China's national industry and Nanjing's first modern mechanical and chemical plant. It is known as the "cradle of China's national military industry."
There are three buildings lined up on the east side of the archway, which originated from the machine factory in the Qing Dynasty. They have blue-gray brick walls, herringbone roofs, and towering doorways. They are dignified and elegant.
An iconic Buddha's face is a phased prototype of Chenguang Factory for casting the Hong Kong Temple of Heaven Buddha.
There is an eye-catching bright red cube on the right side of the archway. A LOGO with Vander architecture as its design concept is inlaid on it. This beautiful red color is like a passionate flame that ignites my enthusiasm.
Come closer to this cube
This is a map of the entire park. Only after seeing this did I understand the relationship between Vander Art District and 1865 Creative Industrial Park. The predecessor of Nanjing Chenguang Group was the Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau founded here by Li Hongzhang, then governor of Liangjiang, in September 1865 during the Westernization Movement of the Qing Dynasty. The 1865 Park is located in the central area of the site, hence its name. The park has five areas: Zone A (Science and Technology Creative Research and Development Zone), Zone B (Business District), Zone C (Science and Technology Creative Expo Zone), Zone D (Arts and Crafts Creation Zone) and Zone E (Fashion Life and Leisure Zone). Vande Art District is located on the southwest side of the 1865 Park, covering an area of approximately 26000 square meters.
The Vander Art District relies on these two typical European and German Bauhaus-style buildings in the 1865 park. Their predecessor was the Arsenal House built in the 25th Republic of China. They have gone through 150 years of vicissitudes and been baptized by three wars, and are well preserved to this day.
Sculptures and industrial remains on the open space in front of the building reveal the history of the place. In July 1885, expansion was carried out because the quantity of foreign gunpowder produced was too small. Add various machines, add various machine tools for car purchase, planing, drilling, and sawing, and add steam turbines and steam boilers. The expansion is to produce more gunpowder.
There are also many old machinery and equipment and their military products left behind in the park, which are displayed inside and outside the factory. In the gray picture, a red steel frame stands straight and quietly, and the scene of work in the large-scale production era as hot as this fiery red color emerges in my mind.
The art museum in Vander Art District has various art exhibitions held for a long time and is open to the public for free. In addition to holding art exhibitions, Vander can also provide a venue for commercial events.
At this time, the "4th Korean Art Festival of 1865 Vande Art District" was being held, and the poster at the door attracted my footsteps.
The structure of the factory remains the same. There are several rows of bookshelves as soon as we enter the door. After a little interpretation, we feel a literary style here.
The industrial style in the corridor remains the same, and we walk into the art exhibition hall where the factory is renovated.
Information about "North Korea" is always so different, but artistic information is rarely available, so it is even more mysterious. Because the mystery is even more amazing! Does this picture of a beautiful woman amaze you? The work is called "Bai Mulan".
The gallery transformed by the factory building is the atmosphere. There are warm pictures in the empty space. Is the space supporting the colorful pictures, or is the colorful pictures dotted the originally cold space?
The beams and columns in the factory serve as a natural division task.
Mottled slogans remain on the beam at the top of the painting. Through the relics of the Cultural Revolution, we tell the story of yesterday and today. History and art condense into a huge visual impact here, creating a unique atmosphere for artistic and cultural activities.
North Korea has always been a mysterious country in my eyes. There is very little information about North Korea. This is my first encounter with North Korean art, and it is in the form of paintings, so I am still a little happy.
The painting is rich in content, including natural landscapes, animals, characters, pastoral scenery...
The entire wall is full of pastoral scenery, beautiful, pure, and rural temperament.
360-degree panoramic landscape painting
Different widths of mountains, rivers and pastoral scenery
The realistic oil paintings by North Korean painters show a "precious ecology" and deeply moved me.
Especially their portrait paintings.
Typical characters from all walks of life are vividly displayed in front of us,
Vivid life scenes
Especially female images. Female images are divided into two categories, one is the female image under the Korean national culture
"White Sweater"
"Covering my Heart"
"Intimacy"
The scene of "Whispers" reminds me of my innocent childhood.
One is the taste of classicism. Most of these female images appear on stage dressed up, and the characters they depict are often images of prominent, wealthy or court officials. These women's eyes were filled with a gentle and dignified temperament.
What moved me most was the eyes of every character. From his eyes, I could hear his heart.
End an artistic feast and return to the tall space. The high-space and large-column-spacing architectural structure completely retains the German Bauhaus-style art style at the beginning of its construction. Here you can clearly see the old factory string and beam structure, the old-fashioned generous windows, and the sloping roof are completely preserved.
The Vande Art District makes use of the huge factory building in the Bauhaus-style to change the original use functions and realize the dynamic preservation of the original building space. It couldn't be more interesting to transform this historical factory into an art space.
Walking out of the factory is a larger outdoor space in the factory area, surrounded by green, as if you have come to a big garden. The culvert in front is also a bridge between east and west-Majiashan Bridge.
The slogans on the bridges and culverts show the sense of the times.
There is a rusty staircase on the side that leads directly to the bridge deck.
Climb high and see the factory buildings carrying the Vander Art District among the green trees.
Walking east along the bridge, there is a small mountain, Majia Mountain, which is quiet and mysterious.
A Heart Journey Garden Inn in the Forest
The inn is a multi-purpose place integrating accommodation, catering, bar and coffee.
The flowers and plants on the wall soften the stiff cement.
The mountain path paved with small bluestone bricks allows you to go down the mountain
There are three three-dimensional buildings with bluestone bricks lined up in the east-west direction at the foot of the mountain. This belongs to Area B of Chenguang 1865 Creative Industrial Park.
These factories have a Western style, with a herringbone roof, and arched blue brick drywall on the upper parts of the doors and windows, making them strong and spacious.
The blue-gray brick wall on the right is Area B, and the red brick wall on the left is Area C. The buildings in the park are divided into areas according to their current functions. In the 1865 Creative Park, there was a relatively common way to distinguish between new and old buildings: blue brick houses were buildings from the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China; red brick houses were buildings from 1949.
There are two parasols and several rattan chairs and rattan tables in the small square next to the foot of the mountain.
An open door, go in and have a look
The interior decoration is simple and warm
From the LOGO on the wall, you can see that this is a coin museum
Evolution of coins in various eras. While walking and looking, a guide asked me where I came from? I pointed to the door through which I entered. He told me where their gate was. It turned out that tickets were needed to enter and visit here. The gate I entered was the exit of the museum.
After being politely kicked out, I deliberately went around to the front door.
Check out the ticketing information here. It costs 60 yuan per ticket.
Without buying a ticket to enter, I continued to stroll north along Jinling Manufacturing Bureau North Road.
Walking among tall factories, tall metasequoia blocks the summer heat from the outside world, like a tunnel of time. The buildings in this area are factory buildings in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The sun falls and shines on two rows of straight metasequoia trees. It is so harmonious. The strong sense of story in the 1865 park slowly flows from these historical sites.
The originally cold and hard factory building has now been transformed into a carrier of various art.
Lohas Jiangsu Network occupies one side of the factory
Building D1 is a canteen-Qinyuan Canteen
Nanjing Yuting Boutique Hotel (Qinhuai River Branch), a boutique hotel is also located here.
A glass porch was built outside the gate, and the factory was transformed into Blue Bay Coffee.
The ground laying on the 1865 Interpretation Square, a small triangle enclosed by Areas C,D, and E, is very characteristic of the park.
The square symbolizes the hope that the war will end.
Arriving at the north side of the park, this road has an interesting name-Yanghu Lane. It is said that Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, once raised tribute tigers from various places here, hence the name Yanghu Lane. The 500-meter-long Yanghu Lane runs east-west and is close to the south side of the moat.
The Qinhuai River, Nanjing's mother river, flows on the north side of Yanghu Lane. The 1865 Creative Industrial Park stands on the banks of the Qinhuai River and faces the Ming City Wall.
At the southern end of Yanghu Lane is a line of large factories that are still in use today. These living historical relics have made Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau a veritable "exhibition hall" of modern Chinese industrial buildings.
This is now the technology business incubation basket.
Further southwest of Yanghu Lane follows a convenient curve of the Qinhuai River and enters the deeper factory area.
Now let's stroll around the east side of Yanghu Alley. These pictures on the east side are my first time in the summer of 2016. Let me borrow them in this travel note. Speaking of coming to the park for the first time, it's not like coming deliberately this time. The first time was because train chasers came to the nearby railway line to chase trains. I accidentally came to this park. Everything was so casual and free.
The park is green and lush, integrating mountains, rivers, cities and forests. There is a tall viewing tower beside Yanghu Lane. Climbing the tower, the condescending view can give you a more real feeling.
The blue sky, white clouds, bridges, trees, parks... are a whole, and all the scenery and words are emotional. As far as you can see, blue bricks, gray tiles, and various arches create a strong atmosphere of the Republic of China. Behind the large area of blue brick factories is a modern city with high-rise buildings, which makes the eyes instantly feel like passing through.
Looking north of the observation tower, you can see the "beautiful, flowing and prosperous" Qinhuai River flowing gently from the north side. The majestic ancient city wall stretches for dozens of miles and complements the Qinhuai River.
Ancient trees, plank roads, ancient city walls, and the endless flow of Qinhuai River create a tranquility and leisure in the bustling city.
Fancy wrought iron doors, green ancient trees in the garden, and various large-area sloping stained glass curtain walls on the main body of the building ignite all enthusiasm around them.
An L-shaped building on one side of the east gate of the park bears eye-catching signs of the park.
Pull back my memories and continue northwest from Yanghu Lane into the factory. The thick green shade covers half a dozen sunshine, and the years that have spread in the retro old factory buildings have made me find the most nostalgic complex.
Propaganda slogans from the Cultural Revolution were still clearly engraved on the buildings. Nowadays, these old factories and old machines have already completed their mission during the industrial production period. As a mark of industrial civilization, they are quietly waiting here, recalling the dust of the past and enjoying the current brilliance.
The wood factory building built in the 12th year of Guangxu still stands tall in Western style, with a herringbone roof, arched upper parts of doors and windows, and blue brick drywall. It is strong and spacious.
Several buildings with clear water and brick walls are enclosed in the courtyard, where an outdoor wedding is being prepared.
Building E12 next to Yanghu Lane has a small courtyard with green inside and outside the courtyard walls.
A small fountain is not a special feature, but the big teapot sculpture next to it. A teapot in this shape was a must-have item for every household in the 1960s and 1970s.
There are also ceramic tanks. The slogans on the pots and jars are also very contemporary. There is a feeling of time dislocation here.
Walking through the park, along the way, the former production plants have long stopped operating. The buildings and layout here are painted with a strong "Arsenal" color.
When all modern machinery stops running, when man and all nature merge into one, walking in it, the tranquility and power you feel cannot be replaced by any modern technology, slow down and feel this nature and the power of history.
He turned and returned to this bridge hole covered with creeper animals.
Continue through the bridge hole and move forward under the shadow of green, step by step into the 1865 Creative Park deep in history, and approach the evolution of the history of modern industrial architecture in China.
Go west through the bridge hole to the former site of Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau.
Statue of Li Hongzhang. In 1865 (the fifth year of Tongzhi), the Qing government set off a wave of establishing modern military industry despite the situation of internal and external crises. In this year, Li Hongzhang founded the "Jinling Machinery Manufacturing Bureau" on the ruins of Xitian Temple at the east end of Zhao Lane outside Nanjing.
On one side, it is transformed from the original old factory building and is full of cultural atmosphere, and on the other side are office buildings with green trees on the roadside.
The Creative Park is an office place that many entrepreneurs will choose. The former site is now home to modern enterprises. After all, the environment here is enviable.
Track traces in the factory area
Every old building here reminds us that we should not forget history.
After going around, we returned to the Vande Art District on the southwest side of the 1865 Park. Vande is far away from the downtown area and has a unique cool place in the 1865 Industrial Park. Vande integrates into 1865, quietly integrating the softness of art with the firmness of history.
In the old factories, the floors were very high and the rooms were large. They could be randomly divided into several areas for personalized layout according to needs.
A corridor full of power
The corridor introduces the origin and development of the 1865 Park through photo displays.
This place pioneered the development of my country's modern industry and weapon industry, and was a turning point in the transition of modern China's handicraft industry to machine manufacturing industry.
More than a hundred years ago, a group of people who wanted to change China's future gathered here to launch the Westernization Movement, trying to "learn from the barbarians and develop their skills to improve themselves." 18 With the dream of a strong country, Li Hongzhang introduced advanced foreign technology and equipment, and began the development of modern industries. The torrent of history brings paragraphs of the past and takes away paragraphs of stories.
Understand the trajectory here from the rolling of the "gears" on the gray brick wall: In 1865, Li Hongzhang, the governor of Liangjiang, founded the Jinling Machinery Manufacturing Bureau. In June 1929, it was renamed the Jinling Arsenal. It was moved to Chongqing during the Anti-Japanese War and called the 21st Arsenal. In 1949, it was changed to the Ordnance General Factory-in 1957, it was renamed the State-owned Chenguang Machinery Factory. In March 1980, it was renamed Nanjing Chenguang Machinery Factory.
Introduction to "Arms Manufacturing": The gunpowder bureau started in 1882 and was completed in 1884. After the Sino-French War, the Qing court wanted to rectify machine manufacturing in various provinces. Zeng Guoquan, the new governor of Liangjiang, requested permission to expand the Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau and add new equipment worth about 100,000 taels of silver. At this point, the Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau became a factory with machine factories, wrought iron mills, sand mills, carpentry factories, rocket factories, gunpowder factories, mine factories, etc., with thousands of workers. It was an early and large-scale factory opened during the Westernization Movement in the late Qing Dynasty. Its main products include guns, cannons, ammunition, gunpowder, mines, etc.
Nanjing Chenguang Factory was once the first of the four major arsenal factories. Wuxi Lingshan Giant Buddha and Hong Kong Temple of Heaven Buddha, Hong Kong Bauhinia and Macau Prosperous Lotus, and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Torch... all came from Nanjing Chenguang.
Today's Nanjing Chenguang 1865 Creative Park inherits history and demonstrates itself in another way.
In Nanjing Chenguang 1865 Creative Industrial Park, there are also a group of young people with aspirations who are working hard for their dreams! From the dense signs in front of the door, you can see that there are various studios here, including a prestigious photography art center, and a niche and personalized design studio.
Studios, museums, collections, small exhibition halls, and art workshops allow us to discover new worlds one after another.
These few sentences in the picture provide a good summary of the current situation
It is such a cultural and artistic district with a strong industrial atmosphere. The thick green shade covers half of the sunshine. The most literary tone can be easily found among the old factories with retro style.
These cafes, teahouses, and creative shops scattered inside and outside the industrial factory buildings have no gorgeous decoration, only a little touch, and a little joy. Come here to find a little happiness on a leisurely day or a busy day!
Vander is like a microcosm, modern art in the long river of history. From buildings to every detail, it not only retains the original historical relics, but also promotes the development of modern art. Here, learn about history and art from ancient times to ancient times, and breathe the fragrance of art swaying in history...
The girl smiling like sunshine on the historical building is like a little sunshine angel.
"Bring the distance back to you"
Along the way, the sun was shining
Outside the park is Yingtian Street, which is busy with traffic. The prosperity here is vastly different from the cleanliness of the park. A train flies by on the Ningwu Line.
As a second-generation third-line factory, I have complex feelings when walking in such a factory. I was born and raised in a third-line factory of an ordnance company, and my parents were the first generation of the third-line factory. At this time, I seem to have returned to that era, with trumpets blowing every day. A loud slogan sounded from the high-hanging loudspeaker, and the whole person was refreshed. Everyone commuted to and from work listening to the bugle. At that time, my father was riding a weighted 28 Phoenix. I was sitting on the big shoulder in front of me, and my mother was sitting in the back with her brother in her arms. I still admire my mother for being so small and able to easily jump onto the back seat of a bicycle while holding her brother. At that time, machines roared every day in the tall factory building. Lathes, planers, and machine tools were all dancing under the skillful operation of workers. Time has changed, and today's tall factories of military engineering enterprises can only vaguely see their former glory in the shallow shadow of time. I suddenly felt grateful to 1865. This park has preserved everything so well. Although it has been renovated, it retains its original historical traces full of time. Such reservations can allow future generations to remember and reminisce about history.
I have been to many characteristic neighborhoods in cities and feel that 1865 is a perfect neighborhood. What do you mean just right? In the past few years, industrialization and transformation were in great fashion, and several old industries were transformed in various cities. Some of them have been changed too much and their taste has changed, and some have business problems that have gradually declined, but 1865 is just right. The birth of creative industrial parks brought history into modern times and embedded modernity into history. The precious heritage of the past is protected, and modern technology is perfectly integrated with it.
There are many characteristic neighborhoods in Nanjing, and the styles of the parks are different. Compared with the commercialization in 1912 and the closure of Yihe Road, the style of 1865 Creative Industrial Park is the type I like. There is no city here to represent the prosperity and hustle of the neighborhood, but it welcomes everyone who likes it with an open attitude. Maybe this has something to do with the history it carries! In the nostalgia of history, there is a modern literary and artistic atmosphere, making it the most authentic and unique intersection of ancient and modern times in Nanjing.
There are many characteristic neighborhoods in Nanjing, and their characteristics are different. I will tell you again when I meet them...
