This block used to stand at the intersection of Beiting Lane and Yangjiangjun Lane was once the location of Nanjing Cigarette Factory. The old factory building of Nanjing Cigarette Factory was built in the 1950s. Later, the cigarette factory moved to Hexi, where only a small part of the business was retained and the factory was basically vacant. In 2010, the old factory building on this precious land in the middle of Nanjing took the first step in transformation. Gradually, the industrial relics of the old factory buildings were built into a D9 block for cultural and tourism consumption.
There's a cafe on the east side of the block
I didn't expect such fashionable buildings in the old streets and alleys in the city center. The gray ground in the block, the gray main factories, especially the large areas of glass on the exterior walls, made her feel very modern.
Although they are all gray, the details of each building are different
The scattered industrial buildings have become a creative space with multiple functions, and the glass walls decorate the building in a fashionable and modern manner.
Being in a scene like this is a bit dreamy
In addition to retaining the original factory building of the old factory building, there are also residential buildings in the D9 block. There is an interesting building in the arms of the residential building-Building 3. It has a red-gray brick-concrete villa on one side, and an exquisitely transparent glass structure on the other side. This kind of mix and match is very interesting.
This interesting building houses the "Nanjing Museum of Modern Architecture"
the museum is open
In addition to retaining the original carriers of the factory area such as factories, the neighborhood also implants modern elements of stainless steel, glass, and multimedia.
It has also created stairs of various shapes and many other Internet celebrity check-in points. It will definitely feel cool to pose for characters on these differently shaped stairs.
There are few pedestrians walking in the neighborhood, so they can take photos without interference.
The neighborhood opened in May, and it has been almost four months since then, but many shops have doors to iron generals. You can only imagine the scenery inside the door through the glass window.
Arriving at the middle hall on the first floor, there were lights and signs on one side.
A coffee shop with a large area.
There are 9 independent buildings in the entire block. From the floor details next to the elevator, we can see that this place incorporates many trendy and pioneering fashion elements.
Walking here to experience the original relics of the industrial era, you can also smell the pyrotechnic commerce, music bars, restaurants, bookstores, cafes...
There are few pedestrians when I walk here in September, and very few shops open. I wonder why? Is it because we haven't fully prepared since it opened, or is it the impact of the Nanjing epidemic in July? Maybe both! In January 2022, when I was writing travel notes, I suddenly missed it a little. Another half year has passed. How is this downtown neighborhood? I'm going to take another look.
