Yihao Temple is located at No. 12 Siqian Street, Jinze Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai. It is now relatively small and inconspicuous. However, Yihao Zen Temple in history is a famous ancient temple. It was built in the first year of Jingding of the Song Dynasty (1260). It is said that it was named after the former residence of Lu Yihao, the prime minister of the Southern Song Dynasty. It was formerly a Cao 'an and named Yong' an 'an. When Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty crossed the south, he stayed here. Yi 'an became a temple and was given the temple "Yong' an Temple". Fei Fuzhi, a prominent family, rebuilt the scripture hall and ordered monk Dao Chong to preside over it. In the twenty-fifth year of the Yuan Dynasty (1288), Monk Ruxin raised funds to build the Daxiong Hall, the mountain gate, and the two verandas, which took shape."The pavilions, halls, and rooms are bright with the osmanthus. It looks magnificent and fragrant." In the first year of Yuanzhen (1295), the courtyard was elevated to a temple and renamed it "Yihao Zen Temple", taking the meaning of "Yihao Zen Temple", which means to cultivate the spirit of self-care and cultivate a noble spirit. Another folk saying,"Yihao Zen Temple" is named after Prime Minister Lu Yihao. This is also the only temple in the country named after the prime minister.

Yihao Temple was once the most popular temple in Jiangnan. According to legend, at its peak, there were 5048 meditation rooms, accounting for most of the town.

It was completely destroyed by Japanese artillery fire in 1938. Only three ancient ginkgo trees, one stone tablet of "The Story of Yihao Zen Temple" and a number of broken stones of "Continuous Cloud" are left.

After restoration in 1992, a stone tablet square was built, and buildings such as Guanyin Hall, mountain gate, palace, and Liao Fang were rebuilt. It was opened behind the temple by Zhao Pu Chu, which is the new Yihao Zen Temple that everyone can see today.

"Jinze Chronicles" records that this ancient ginkgo tree was planted by Ben Nibner, an eminent monk in the Western Regions of the Yuan Dynasty. He personally planted two ginkgo trees, one for a male in front of Yihao Temple, and the other for a female in Hexi. The two trees face each other across the river. People call it the husband and wife tree. Every year, the female tree blooms and bears fruit, and the fruit is fragrant and waxy. Unfortunately, the female tree was sawed during the Republic of China and used for other purposes. The tree in front of the temple is male and does not bear fruit.
