Among the ancient water towns in the Yangtze River Delta, Lili and Jinze are not as famous as Zhouzhuang, Wuzhen and Xitang, but the scenery is quite good. More importantly, it has less commercial atmosphere and more tranquility, making it more authentic.

At nearly 10:30, I drove out of my house in Pudong, Shanghai. I encountered a traffic jam on the elevated road on Yan 'an Road. It was 12:45 to take the highway to Lili, Wujiang.

When we visited, Lili Ancient Town was not commercially developed, so there was no need to buy tickets. Even the Liu Yazi Memorial Hall in the town was free of charge.

Liu Yazi's former residence is the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council on May 25, 2006. It is an important historical site and representative building category in modern times. The period is from 1922 to 1937. Mr. Liu Yazi was born in Lili, Wujiang. His original name was Wei Gao, also known as Jiaxuan, and his name was Yazi. He was once secretary of the Presidential Office of Sun Yat-sen. In February 1949, at the invitation of Chairman Mao Zedong, he set out from Hong Kong to enter the Jiefang District. Later, he participated in the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and participated in the founding ceremony. Data show that the Liu Yazi Memorial Hall is an excellent building during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and an important historical site in modern times. It was originally the private residence of Zhou Yuanli, Governor of Zhili and Minister of the Ministry of Industry during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It was completed before 1780, and the house is named "Fu Fu Tang". In 1922, Liu Yazi rented this deep courtyard from descendants of the Zhou family. In May 1987, on the occasion of Liu Yazi's 100th birthday, with the approval of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Liu Yazi Memorial Hall was established based on Liu Yazi's former residence.

Many old buildings in the ancient town are cultural relics of different levels.

Near 2 o'clock, drive on the national highway and turn back in the direction of Shanghai to go to Jinze Ancient Town. Jinze belongs to Qingpu District, Shanghai, and is also an ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River. It is known as the "No. 1 Bridge Township in the south of the Yangtze River" and its tourism value is no less than that of Liantang Ancient Town. Kanazawa originally had "six views, one tower, thirteen squares, and forty-two Hongqiao bridges", which are introduced in many travel books. There is a section of river 350 meters apart in the area of Xiatang Street in Jinze, and five ancient bridges are lined up side by side. They were built in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. There is a saying that "the ancient bridges of the four dynasties are connected together."

When we left Jinze Town at 4:05 p.m., we did not take the highway on the way home. We arrived at our home in Pudong, Shanghai at 6:45 p.m.
