To love a city, we must first understand the city.

Every time I talk about "traveling like a local", City Walk always brings up a topic for discussion.

The concept of the word City Walk first originated in London, England, has no profound meaning. It translates into Chinese as "city walking", which means that people use walking to experience and perceive their own city. We walk at will in the city. It may be a familiar street, a strange alley, or a road that we have walked countless times but never cared about.

There are many well-known walking routes in Shanghai, and I have traveled many of those routes in the French Concession.Every City Walk always allows me to find some new fun and learn more about my hometown.Last weekend, my good friend Karen and I went on a City Walk+ Sightseeing Bus. This was seen on the Shanghai release. Spring and Autumn Tourism cooperated with the Shanghai Culture and Tourism BureauBuilding-readable special bus, commonly known as "Xiao Lan".

Let's start with the conclusion:Before the trip started, we laughed and said,"Will we be expelled from Shanghai?"; after the trip ended, we sighed,"How fragrant!"

The cultural relics and monuments left behind bear witness to the rise and fall of the city. The teahouse on the street corner may have great origins, and behind a certain building may be the joys and sorrows of small people. Those silent buildings tell stories one by one with a perspective that transcends time and space. As Gogol said: "When music and legends are silent, only buildings are still talking.

The personal test cost 45 yuan, and the whole play lasted about 5 hours.The line covers both sides of the Pujiang River, with a journey of 22 kilometers.May 30th Movement Monument Station, Waibaidu Bridge Station, Jinling East Road Pier Station, Yuyuan Chenghuang Temple Station and Oriental Pearl StationFive sites.

this itinerarySuitable for Local travel enthusiasts and families with parentsAfter all, I can't get out recently. At first glance, it seems that these sites are nothing interesting, but after a tour, you will learn many stories that belong exclusively to Shanghai. From Yuyuan to the Bund to Lujiazui, this is almost the first half of Shanghai's life.

The mode of play is as follows: get on the bus from front of the May 30th Monument in People's Square (opposite the New World Shopping Mall). Each stop has a full-time guide to take everyone around while walking.Give everyone a 30-minute explanation at each stop, 15 minutes of free exercise time are also reserved. You can then take the next dedicated bus at the station to go to the next station.

The first bus is 9:30, the last bus is 21:00,45-55 Minutes/shift, there are tour guides at the site before 16:00 p.m.The site is up and down, so you can calculate the time to eat without worrying about the long journey time and hunger. Wait for us to elaborate on the experience of each site.

What makes me most impressed is that the tour guides on this bus route, regardless of gender, are extremely knowledgeable.I prefer to call them "team leaders". It was a real enjoyment to meet equally knowledgeable guests and listen to everyone discuss together.

I met Wang Dao at Yuyuan Station. His hair was gray and he had been working in the industry for 20 years. He constantly quoted various books introducing Shanghai's history. When we stood on the roadside waiting for the bus, we talked from the 700 years of "Shanghai County Annals" to Yang Jiang's life. If we had the opportunity, we would really like to keep chatting with him.

The moment the car arrived, I suddenly realized that I used to think "traveling with a group" was not fun, but I had never met a team leader like Director Wang.He spoke eloquently. His words were filled with love for his profession and the city of Shanghai. He was by no means the tour guide we had in our impression that only knew background introduction.We often say,"A hundred years of history looks at Shanghai", and follow his thoughts to look at buildings one after another.I listened to flesh-and-blood stories, but I couldn't get the experience by looking up information and reading history books myself.

These blue buses can be played leisurely throughout the day and are even worth swiping multiple times. I have even made up my mind that next time my foreign friends come to Shanghai, I will definitely take them on this route.

Here is my experience report, 45 yuan to get a whole day of happiness!In addition to telling my experience, each stop will also be interspersed with recommendations for eating and hanging out that day. We understand from the beginning.

The starting point is the May 30th Movement Monument. Opposite the New World Shopping Mall, you can easily find the small spring and autumn red pavilion. The blue double-decker bus in front of you is the building's reading line I want to ride.

Ticket exchange on site and getBlue electronic card。After boarding the bus, the seats in the first row on the second floor were the most popular. We didn't get a seat in the first round, so we had to sit in the back row with a good view. If you feel carsick, I still recommend taking the first floor. After all, it is normal for the second floor to sway due to the influence of gravity.

Mini programs are located on the back of each seat. If you scan it, you can see the explanation of historical buildings near each stop and the overall route. There is also a vehicle positioning function to see the current geographical location of the bus.If you are walking far away at the site or want to have a meal, you can open the Mini programs to check the location and time of the next shuttle bus. It is very convenient to get on the bus in time.

Tips: But the downside is that there are no headphones provided, and the back jack is round head. You can scan the code and listen to it yourself on your mobile phone.

Shanghai is very comfortable this season. When the sun is shining during the day, it is not cold at all. The sycamore leaves have not yet fallen. Buses come from Jiujiang Road, Henan Middle Road, and Beijing East Road. They pass by the Shamei Building and you can still see Internet celebrities taking photos on the terrace. This is a scenery you can only find by sitting on the second floor ~

The second stop comes to the Bund, officially starting today's City Walk. The Bund is a place I like very much. I also like to walk along the East Zhongshan Road myself, especially when there are few people. We walked to the Waibaidu Bridge and began to listen to the history of "isolation between China and the West, autonomy of the Concession".

I found a map to better understand the distribution of concessions at that time.

This is the first time the British demarcated the British Concession

The entrance of the Roosevelt Mansion has been replaced with Christmas decorations

Why do Buddhist head sculptures appear in the Bund complex? Come and listen to the explanation!

The original county seat of Shanghai is in the present Yuyuan area. Most of the Huangpu River banks at the east gate are natural beaches. In the past, people would come to the beaches here for outing. At that time, the Huangpu River and Suzhou River were both main river courses. For hundreds of years, trackers have stepped on a winding and winding path along the river beach. People call it the "Xian Road". This Xian Road is the earliest road on the Bund.

The British who advocated marine civilization took a fancy to this river. Before Shanghai opened the concession, they first designated the river area along the Bund as the "anchor area" for ships, and later became the British Concession. No. 33 on the BundFormer British Consulate General in ShanghaiIt is the oldest building in the Shanghai Bund complex.Reading architecture is actually reading the history behind the architecture.The British discussed trade and other issues in this two-story colonial-style building. It can be said that this period of Shanghai's history of opening a port began here.

Behind Waibaidu BridgeAstor House, built due to the opening of Shanghai. British businessman Astrohof Leigh inspected the convenience of this geographical location and built a hotel named after himself here. The older generation should have heard that this was one of the most modern luxury hotels in the Far East at that time. It was the first to use gas, lights, and tap water, install elevators, and provide 24-hour hot water. When celebrities from all over the world came to Shanghai, they all liked to stay here.

"A few years ago, I wanted to come to stay here for one night to see the history here, but I never went there. I didn't expect it to be turned into a securities museum later on." The tour guide who explained the explanation also sighed,"I thought from this incident that if you want to do something early."

in front ofShanghai building, it turned out to be the "Broadway Building",Classic Art Deco styleBefore liberation, it was the tallest building in Shanghai after International Hotels. According to the tour guide, this building used to be the Shanghai Yingshang Trolley Company and later was a foreign-related hotel. It can still be accommodated now. I followed the clues and searched on Ctrip. It was not expensive. Now I can experience it for more than 600 yuan, which can just fulfill the guide's wish of not staying at Licha Hotel.

This line has two stops in total on the Bund, the other stop isJinling East Road Matou。When I got off the bus, the tour guide was already waiting at the stop. The area on the Bund was much colder than the area at the Peace Hotel. It originally belonged to the French Concession, and if you go further, you will find the 16th shop. As soon as he came up, he asked a question:"How is the British Concession? Is the French Concession better?"

He did not pretend to be mysterious: "Old Shanghainese will say,Under the sycamore tree is a good place”。Think about it. The Bund turned out to be a river beach.

Here's another map: Across the Pidgin River (filled), next to the British Concession is the French Concession. Near the border of the Concession, the French built a weather signal station on the Bund.

Crossing the road, we started this stop on the City Walk. The tour guide pointed from afarBund Meteorological Signal StationTell us that the French Catholic Church's observatory in Xujiahui uses this to transmit meteorological information and provide meteorological services to Western naval fleets. At the same time, this is also one of the two remaining Atanub-style buildings in the world. It was designed by the Spanish architectural designer Atanub-style, mainly in the rococo style. In 1993, the Bund was renovated, and the building was moved 20 meters eastward. It was not easy at that time.

passingJinling East Road was originally called "Fada Road", this is the first road in Shanghai with electricity lights. When the lights were turned on back then, citizens all came over to take a look. "The buildings on the sidewalk here are very special. They are arcade buildings only found in the south. They won't get wet all the way. You can go and find it. The only arcade in Shanghai is in the northernmost part of China."

A digression: There is also another Yingda Road in Shanghai. Can you guess which one it is?

Tips: This station has Jinling East Road Pier, where you can take a ferry to Lujiazui. There are also public toilets on the Bund, the "price increase" C'Shiduo convenience store and Jay Chou's Morgeza milk tea, making it convenient for everyone to buy water. Everyone can rest at this station.

These two stops on the Bund are both stories of the Shanghai 2.0 version. If you want to find the ancient flavor of Shanghai, you still have to talk about Yuyuan.This area is the earliest county seat in Shanghai and can be said to be the root of Shanghai., Shanghai's earliest banks, silver houses, wine shops, teahouses, theater houses, and commercial businesses are all here. Both the British Concession and the French Concession were built outside the county seat of Shanghai. Part of the reason can be said that Chinese people were not used to seeing blond foreigners.

"In the past, Shanghai was full of rivers. When you see road names like Daibang and Pu, they used to be rivers." The tour guide pointed to Fangbang Middle Road next to him and introduced him. Speaking of this, the Shanghainese present began to get excited and began to give examples: Qipu Road, Zhaojiabang, Lujiabang Road, Dapu Bridge..."Yes, you see, there were so many rivers in Shanghai before, but they were all filled up later."

Going back and talking aboutchenghuangmiao, was built during the Yongle Period, two years earlier than the construction of the Forbidden City in Beijing. The City God Temple is equivalent to the Mazu Temple of Fujian people. Old Shanghainese always come to pay their respects during festivals and festivals.

Are you free? Chinese people like to drink tea, not far awayChunfeng Deyi BuildingIt is the best teahouse in Shanghai County in the old days. It is taken from the "horse's disease in the spring breeze".

"What did people like to do in the past?"

"Drinking tea, visiting the garden, and listening to Pingtan."

"Little girl, you know it well!"

So we started to visit the garden. Walking to Ninghui Pavilion, the tour guide asked me which building was the tallest building here. I pointed casually and pointed to the center of Shanghai in the distance. Wang Dao was made laugh by me."You are very humorous. Let's discuss the architecture in Yu Garden." it must beNinghuigeAh, it's named because it can just welcome the first ray of sunshine from the east. It's high enough.

Go towards Jiuqu Bridge Lake Center Pavilion,green Wave galleryIt is the restaurant we all ate when we were children. It is part of Yuyuan Garden and was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. The tour guide took out his mobile phone and showed us many historical photos of the building, including a banquet for Queen Elizabeth II.

Yuyuan is a stop for everyone to stop for a rest and have lunch. While wandering around Yuyuan Garden, I found that it was very different from before. The national trend area was well done.Almost no store sells duplicate products.

There is also a market on the street next to it, where stalls are being set up. There are many interesting things suitable for Taobao to take photos. Shadow puppet shows, porno, Tsingtao Beer, Shanghai Shenhua... evoke many memories.

Recommend century-old brands on the streetTong Hanchuntang, you can have a cup of Internet celebrity traditional Chinese medicine milk tea: XO essence staying up late water, goddess collagen rose dew, hair trace five black water... When I was working nearby before, I ordered their home's coix seed water several times, but I still drank it this time. Not sweet, it tastes very original + healthy.

Lunch recommendations we just mentionedgreen Wave gallery, andNanxiang steamed bread shop。For decades, these two stores have remained the same sign and taste. When we were young, our teacher even asked us to write compositions and try the Xiaolongbao made from Nanxiang steamed buns. Who hasn't lined up for this Xiaolongbao? More pursuit of cost performance can be consideredNingbo Tangtuan StoreDahuchun, there are also well-known vegetarian restaurants in ShanghaiChunfeng Songyue Tower。If you want to eat environment, you can also consider Su-style noodle restaurantsonghelou。Those who want to eat Western food can go to the next stop, Oriental Pearl, which includes shopping malls such as Zhengda Plaza and Guojin.

Eat and drink your fill and return to the station for the last stopOriental Pearl TV TowerThis is Shanghai's life. I have visited kindergarten and primary school during Spring and Autumn tours. I was only 1 year old when it was built. Perhaps it is because everyone is so familiar with it that everyone knows that only Karen and I participated in this stop to listen to the tour guide's explanation.

We stood by the Ping An Financial Building to listen to the bumpy history of the Oriental Pearl Tower and constantly respond to questions from tour guides. There is also another angle here that is the only one in the Lujiazui area where you can take the three-piece set and the Oriental Pearl. Can you guess where it is?

Most of the day was not long, but I gained a little more understanding of Shanghai. From the Bund to Yuyuan Garden to Lujiazui, this seemingly tourist route will be "expelled from Shanghai", which makes me, an authentic Shanghainese, lament that "I don't know enough about my hometown."The relationship between buildings and cities is inseparable. We look at buildings, but inside them is the vivid history and life of the city, nourishing every generation.

Finally, send Tips:

After purchasing, you need to go to the site to exchange tickets. You can exchange tickets at two stations: May 30th Monument Station and Oriental Pearl Station. Students living in Puxi can start playing from Renguang, and students living in Pudong can start playing from the Oriental Pearl Tower;

The first bus runs at 9:30 and the last bus runs at 21:00, every 45 minutes. Generally, everyone takes the 10:15 shuttle bus to start the day's journey leisurely;

The whole journey is 22 kilometers, and it takes 80 minutes without getting off the bus. The tour guide explanation service at each station is about 30-40 minutes, and the tour guide works until 16:00;

It is recommended to have a meal break at Yuyuan Station and Oriental Pearl TV Tower Station.
