Shanghai is the most prosperous place in China, with diverse cultures and equal emphasis on China and the West. I have been here many times, but I have never stopped in my hurry to carefully examine this Oriental "Magic Capital" and see its colorful brilliance. During this May Day holiday, I decided to travel to Shanghai to see what "both tone and style" means and listen to the century-old stories flowing on the old streets.

A city has the flavor of a city. Through delicious food, you can quickly understand the city's traditions, prosperity and development. Shanghai has both "local dishes", as well as breads and steaks. It is really "inclusive and inclusive." China's Michelin-starred restaurants are clustered in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, with half of them in Shanghai. Day 1 (April 30)

Arrive in Shanghai in the evening and check into the Peace Hotel.

peace Hotel, located at the intersection of Nanjing East Road and the Bund, the Gothic building is an important member of the Bund's international building complex, with the green copper-sheathed roof being the biggest feature. The hotel was built in 1929 and was formerly known as the Chinachem Hotel. It was founded by the Jewish businessman Sassoon. It is said that the engagement ceremony of Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mayling was held here. It can be said that the Peace Hotel witnessed the century-old situation of Shanghai Beach.

The turquoise spire is like an emerald inlaid on the bank of the Huangpu River, becoming a legendary landmark on the Bund.

Stained glass with gold and pink and green on the top of the lobby is inlaid on the octagonal courtyard. Light shines down from the sky and shines on the "dove of peace" made of glass, whose meaning coincides with the "Peace Hotel".

The classic corridor in the store is like a time tunnel, instantly taking you into the old Shanghai years.

After checking in, it was already late, so I chose a restaurant and started my gluttonous journey to Shanghai.


THE NEST, located in Rock. The source of the Bund, with a beautiful night view of the Huangpu River, is a well-known bar in Shanghai.

A salmon platter is made of specially processed cakes with different flavors of salmon, roe, onions, and cheese. It is very satisfying to eat in one bite.

The next day (May 1)
Dahuchun, one of the most popular time-honored Shengjian Bao restaurants in Shanghai, is very famous and rated as a Michelin Must-Dun restaurant (a restaurant with popular prices and high-quality food). It is said that you cannot say you have eaten Shengjian Bao without eating big pot spring.

The store is not big, with many people and good hygiene. I ordered a bowl of Qianzhangbao vermicelli soup and several Shengjian dumplings. I generally felt that the taste was average, without any mistakes, and there was no feeling of surprise. I wonder if yesterday's steak had not been digested yet.

Wukang Road,It was built in 1907 by the Public Council Bureau of the Shanghai French Concession at that time. It is known as the "Celebrity Road" that condenses Shanghai's century-old history. Many cultural celebrities such as Ba Jin once lived here. The tall sycamore trees on both sides of the road block out the sky, and European buildings scattered along the roadside can be seen from time to time.

The most famous one is the Wukang Building, which is covered with red brick walls and corner balconies. It is also the earliest verand-style building in Shanghai, with a French Renaissance charm.

Yi and said, one Michelin star, mainly Huaiyang cuisine. The restaurant is located on the second floor of Bund Yuan. The thick historical building makes the entire restaurant look calm.

After eating, take a walk back to the hotel. Nanjing's roads are crowded with people. It is reported that during May Day, passenger traffic on the Bund hit a record high for the same period.

A zipper-like and oppressive human wall composed of armed police and public security guides the flow of people, and the scene is in good order. From this, it can be seen that Shanghai's management level is indeed relatively high.

Passing by a cake shop, called“Salon de Thé de Joël Robuchon”, is a dessert shop owned by the legendary Michelin chef Lubson. It is located at No. 18 on the Bund. It has a high rating. Their butterfly cakes are said to be among the top three in Shanghai, but they are actually supplied in limited quantities. The magic of desserts can never be resisted. Since we are here, we'd better eat some.


Day 3 (May 2)

Crab Courtyard,Shanghai's most famous crab yellow noodles, sells for a high price of 360 yuan for a bowl of noodles. However, in the face of high-priced delicacies, there is an endless stream of diners. It is said that the crab roe from 12 crabs from the six males and six females general public is used for the topping alone!

There are really a lot of crab roe and the taste is okay, but it is no different from the more than 100 pieces of crab roe noodles I have eaten. However, there are free peanuts to eat, Evian mineral water to drink as you please, and a refrigerator sticker for a bowl of noodles. In a word, apart from being expensive, there is nothing wrong with it.

French Concession,It was opened in 1849 and taken back in 1943. It lasted nearly a hundred years. This is a humiliating history. The "French romance" we see now actually has nothing to do with the Chinese at that time.

Tian Zifang,It used to be a road market. After being transformed by the government, it was transformed into a gathering place for modern creativity. There were many people during the festival, so I took a turn and left quickly.

Shanghai Glass Art Museum,It is also the only glass art museum in Asia. It is beautiful and I admire the dazzling beauty

Mr & Mrs Bund by Paul Pairet, French cuisine, Michelin Plate Award Restaurant, which means a restaurant that uses fresh ingredients to carefully prepare high-quality delicious food. It is an old French restaurant with an excellent reputation. It is located at No. 18 on the Bund and can enjoy the bright night view of Pudong.

Day 4 (May 3)

Nanxiang steamed bun shop,Located on the bank of the Jiuqu Bridge in Yuyuan, it is a century-old restaurant with a long-standing reputation. The Michelin must-visit restaurant has lined up all year round. The long queue in front of the store has become a "landscape" in Yuyuan.

The long line in front of the store couldn't see the end. After asking around, I found out that there were private seats upstairs, so I hurried upstairs. I ordered several local dishes, including roasted bran in all seasons, braised spring bamboo shoots, and broad beans in onion oil. It was very refreshing.

I ordered different flavors of small cages, and it turned out that the small cage of matsutake was the most delicious and delicious.

Crab yellow soup dumplings, and a straw was also issued to drink the soup. It was too greasy and fishy. Try it just a little

new rongji, Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine, one Michelin star. The store decoration is low-key and connotative, and the service is very good.

I have eaten Shanghai's famous snacks: Xiaolongbao, Shengjian Bao, and crab roe noodles, but I don't know what to eat. Go to the mall and see what's delicious. Walking around, I saw a family"Loose Hair Pork Bone Tea", the taste is still quite good, and Shanghai will never lack delicious food.

Snack before dinner, a salmon, a black truffle ball, and the juice taste is a bit unique

Day 6 (May 5)

Today is the last day of the holiday, and I have to return home in the afternoon for another meal.

Yu Baoxuan,Cantonese cuisine, with two Michelin stars, is located at the source of the Bund. Because it was noon, I ordered some small points according to the pattern of morning tea, and the crispy young pigeons praised it.


Time flies. This short holiday focusing on food is coming to an end. Looking back on the past few days, I think that Shanghai is definitely the capital of food. It not only has local dishes, but also has great Huaiyang cuisine, which is not inferior to Guangzhou's high-end Cantonese cuisine, and you can also enjoy the delicacies provided by chefs from all over the world. Shanghai's unique geographical location and development history allow cuisines from all over the world to blend in Shanghai to form a more brilliant food culture. I have a small regret this time, which is that I didn't go to the "Deda Western Food Restaurant". This is a time-honored local Western food brand that has been improved after the introduction of Western food to Shanghai. It is a "stylish" memory in the hearts of old Shanghainese people and can only come back next time.
