On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the liberation of Shanghai, we took stock of 45 bunkers scattered in the central Urban area of Shanghai

1. Preface

Starting from May 7, in 18 days, we visited seven districts including Xuhui (3), Minhang (2), Changning (4), Hongkou (6), Yangpu (3), Pudong (10), Baoshan (17), and investigated more than 40 existing bunkers in Shanghai City. These bunkers have experienced the Battle of Songhu, the War of Resistance, the War of Shanghai, the fight against revisionism and prevention of revisionism, etc. Construction dates include the Japanese occupation period, the Kuomintang period, and after liberation.

2. Take stock of the bunkers scattered throughout Shanghai

1. Xuhui District (3)

This bunker is located in a busy city and is not recognized by ordinary people. The exact location is inside the street center garden at the corner of Tianlin East Road on Qinzhou Road (south side of Tianlin East Road and east side of Qinzhou Road), close to the Puhuitang River.

When you see this sign, you are not far from finding it, seeing it.

The following bunker is located on the inner side of the East Gate of Kang Jian Yuan and takes a 1-minute walk.

The following bunkers are located at No. 10 Dongping Road, Xuhui District.

After looking at it, I learned that it was not a bunker, but just a hiding hole.

2. Minhang District (2)

The bunker is located in Minhang District Cultural Park.

This bunker is very hidden, and not many people know it. Even if you pass by it, you may not know it. The bunker is located at Lianhua South Road Bridge in Minhang District, on the north side of the bridge, and on the south side of the bridge is close to Luoxiu Road.

3. Changning District (4)

The bunker is located in Lane 996 (Changhong Community), Hongqiao Road.

The following bunkers are located at the corner outside the patio of the residents on the ground floor of No. 89, Lane 996, Hongqiao Road (Changhong Community).

The following bunker is located at the entrance of No. 64, Lane 1829, Hongqiao Road, Changning District.

The following bunker is located on the public leisure green space in Lane 377, Honggu Road, Changning District.

4. Hongkou District (6)

The following bunkers are located on the right side of Gate 38, Lane 4, Changzhong Road

The following bunkers are located on the north side of the Creative Park of the 1876 Old Station, on the west side of the Songhu Railway, and on the south side of Jiangwan Station on the Songhu Line.

The following bunkers are located in 1933 Laochang Square, Hongkou District. Next to the tall red chimney in the north of Laochang Square is a bunker with cement painted exterior. It should also belong to a bunker within the inner ring. Unfortunately, I don't know the date of its construction and who built it? Why was it built?

The following bunker is located behind the facade of No. 21, Dalian West Road and at the entrance of No. 8, Lane 270, Xingfu Village, Siping Road. It is the largest one ever seen (estimated area is about 70 square meters).

The following bunkers are located at Gate 7, Lane 510, Wenshui East Road.

The following bunkers are located on the left side of No. 21, Guangling First Village.

5. Yangpu District (3)

The following bunkers are located at the gate of No. 50, Fengcheng Third Village, Yangpu District.

The following bunkers are located in front of patio No. 110 in Community 2 of Fengcheng Second Village (outside the wall), Gate No. 81 (opposite), and directly opposite the garbage bin. The bunker on the back of the bulletin board has been covered and renovated and is not easy to identify by outsiders.

The following bunkers are located next to house numbers 47-48, Lane 50, Tieling Road.

6. Pudong New District (10)

The following bunkers are located on one side of the green belt along Yanggao Road at Biyun Sports and Leisure Center in Pudong New District.

The following bunkers are located across the road from Yanggao Road, Biyun Sports and Leisure Center in Pudong New District.

The following bunkers are located in Biyun Sports and Leisure Center in Pudong New District next to Decathlon.

The following bunkers are located in the central hidden area of the green belt along Yanggao Road at Biyun Sports and Leisure Center in Pudong New District.

The following bunkers are located in the bicycle shed in the community of Lane 501, Lancun Road, Pudong New District, corresponding to the corner of the patio of the owner on the ground floor of No. 8, Lane 501.

The following bunkers are located outside (next to) patio No. 616, Weifang Sixth Village, Pudong New District, facing Gate 612.

The following bunkers are located on the sidewalk at the entrance of No. 1527 Pudong South Road (along the street) in Pudong New District.

The following bunkers are located at No. 7, Lane 420, Eshan Road, Pudong New District.

The following bunkers are located on the sidewalk along No. 96 Miaopu Road, Pudong New District.

The following bunkers are located on the green belt at the entrance of No. 8 Jingxi First Village, Yangjing Town, Pudong New District.

7. Baoshan District (17)

The following bunkers are located in Baoshan Shicun Community, Baoshan, Baoshan District.

The following bunker is located at the intersection of Taihe Road, Jiangyang North Road, Baoshan District. Strictly speaking, it is on Taihe Road, on the west side of Jiangyang North Road.

The following bunkers are located at the intersection of Tiecheng Road, Jiangyang North Road (west side), in Baoshan District, and north of Jiangyang North Road Agricultural Products Wholesale Market.

The following bunkers are located in Yanghang Middle School in Baoshan District.

The following bunkers are located in Miaoxing Park in Baoshan District.

The following bunkers are located in Gonghe Park, Baoshan District.

The following bunkers are located in Sitang Park in Baoshan District.

The following bunkers are located on the bank of the Zaobang River at the end of Aihui Road in Baoshan District.

The following bunkers are located on the west side of the Zaobang Bridge on Gonghe New Road, Baoshan District, and on the south bank of the river.

The following bunkers are located on the east side of the Meipu River Bridge on Tiefeng Road, Baoshan District, and on the south bank of the Meipu River.

The following bunkers are located in the woods along the railway tracks at Lane 1081 - 8, Jiangyang North Road, Baoshan District.

The following bunkers are located in Team 13, Sitang Village, Baoshan District.

The following bunkers are located in the factory building of Huayi Packaging Co., Ltd., No. 3366 Baoyang Road, Baoshan District.

3. Conclusion

The existing bunkers in Shanghai City are divided into three categories: military facilities, cultural relics, and abandoned. According to the terms of construction first, some were made by Japan, some were made before liberation, and some were built after liberation.
