After 14 years of absence, when I came to the Bund again, except for the turbulent Huangpu River, things and people along the way have changed. The scene of four college students gathering in Shanghai 14 years ago and talking with high spirits is still vivid in my mind.

There are more ships sailing on the Huangpu River, and the Bund has been renovated. Foreign tourists can be seen from time to time. The Bund is located on the bank of the Huangpu River in Huangpu District, Shanghai City, namely Outer Huangpu Beach, a historical and cultural district in my country. Since 1844 (the 24th year of the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty), the Bund area was designated as the British Concession, becoming a true portrayal of Shanghai's Shili Yangchang and the starting point of the old Shanghai Concession Area and the entire modern city of Shanghai.

The Bund has a total length of 1.5 kilometers. It starts from Yan 'an East Road in the south and ends at Waibaidu Bridge on the Suzhou River in the north. The Huangpu River in the east is the Huangpu River, and the west is the concentration of old Shanghai's financial and foreign trade institutions. After Shanghai was turned into a commercial port, foreign banks, commercial firms, federations, and newspapers began to gather here.

The Bund has become the financial center of the country and even the Far East. In August of the 32nd year of the Republic of China (1943), the Bund was returned to the Shanghai Public Concession to the Wang Puppet National Government, ending the century-long Concession period. In 1945, it had the official name of Zhongshan No. 1 Road.

There are 52 classical rejuvenation buildings with different styles standing on the Bund. They are known as the Bund International Architecture Expo Group. They are important historical sites and representative buildings in modern China and one of Shanghai's landmarks. In November 1996, the State Council included it in the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Opposite the Bund across the river, Lujiazui, Pudong has Shanghai's landmark buildings, Oriental Pearl, Jinmao Building, Shanghai Center Building, Shanghai World Financial Center, etc., which have become a symbol of China's reform and opening up and a microcosm of Shanghai's modernization drive.

In March 2018, on the basis of comprehensively promoting the functional replacement of the "first facade"(i.e. Linjiang buildings), Shanghai Bund simultaneously launched the functional replacement of the "second facade"(i.e. non-Linjiang Bund buildings).

Since the 1840s, when the Concession was seized by Britain, France and other countries, the Bund has become a sovereign area. Western powers operated, managed, and built the Concession in their own way. When commercial banks and financial companies occupied a place on the Bund, they embarked on large-scale construction and built company buildings, and most of the buildings on the Bund have been rebuilt three or more times.

In the 20th century, due to the development of building technology and the growth of economic strength, multi-storey and high-rise buildings appeared on the Bund, with various styles, such as British Classical, British Neo-Classical, British Renaissance Asian Building (formerly Shanghai Metallurgical Design Institute), Shanghai General Assembly (now Dongfeng Hotel), Pudong Development Bank Building (formerly HSBC Building), Qiahe Building (now Foreign Trade Bureau Building), etc., as well as French Classical,

French grand house style, Gothic style, Baroque style, modern Western style, East Indian style, eclecticism style, mixed Chinese and Western style, etc., present the coexistence of buildings from all over the world. Therefore, this building complex, which starts from the Baidu Bridge outside the Suzhou River in the north and ends at Jinling East Road on Zhongshan East Road in the south, is known as the "World Architecture Expo". These buildings, where classicism and modernism coexist, have become symbols of Shanghai.

There are a total of 33 buildings on the Bund, some of which are still requisitioned by some units and agencies. For example, the No. 13 Customs Building on the Bund, which was completed in 16th of the Republic of China (1927), is still the residence of Shanghai Customs; the No. 14 Bank of Communications Building on the Bund is the youngest building on the Bund.

It was completed in 1948 in the Republic of China and has been used by the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions since the founding of our country. Others are the headquarters and high-end hotels of banks and insurance companies in various countries, such as the Asia Building No. 1 on the Bund, built in 1913; the Nissin Building, also known as the Maritime Building, built in 14th year of the Republic of China (1925). It was originally the building of the Nissin Foreign Bank;

The HSBC Building, also known as the City Hall, was built in 1925; the British General Assembly, the 110.7-foot bar cabinet in the first-floor bar room is known as the longest in the East, but today it is the Dongfeng Hotel; Huizhong Hotel Building, No. 19, the Bund, is now the Peace Hotel; Sasun Building, No. 22, the Bund, completed in 1929, is the tallest building on the Bund and also belongs to the Peace Hotel today. No. 3, No. 6 and No. 18 have been renovated and developed into high-end leisure, shopping and entertainment venues, which are the coordinates of Shanghai's luxury consumption.

No. 10 to No. 12 is now the seat of Pudong Development Bank. It was originally the seat of the Shanghai Branch of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. It was founded in the twelfth year of the Republic of China (1923). The three bronze gates and the bronze lions on both sides were specially cast by the United Kingdom. It is said that the copper molds were destroyed immediately after casting.

Lions have become out-of-print treasures. An octagonal foyer protrudes from the middle of the ground floor, leading to the spacious business hall. There are eight murals made of colorful mosaics at the top of the foyer, which depict the architectural styles of eight major cities including Shanghai, Hong Kong, London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Bangkok, and Kolkata in the early 20th century. Next to the painting is the words "All brothers in the four seas". The Shanghai City government once worked here after liberation. The building cost 8 million taels of silver and is known as "the most elegant building from the Suez Canal to the Bering Strait."

No. 13 is now the Customs Building, a sister building to the HSBC Building. It was built in 1927 and is modeled on the big clock of the British Parliament Building (Big Ben). It was built by the British Joyce Company and assembled in Shanghai. The big clock on the exterior of this building is the largest clock in Asia and one of the most famous clocks in the world.(One of the only three Westminster bells in the world, the other two are Big Ben of the British Parliament and the Skasky Bell of the Russian Red Square.) It turns out that the Westminster Chronicle is played every hour, and it is changed to the east during the song.

No. 19 and No. 20: Now it is the Peace Hotel, which is divided into the south building and the north building. The south building was originally the Huizhong Hotel Building, and the north building was originally the Chinachem Hotel Building. Huizhong Hotel is one of the oldest existing hotels in Shanghai. It was built in the fourth year of Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty (1854) and is the most luxurious hotel in Shanghai.

It was renovated in the 32nd year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1906). During the renovation, elevators were installed in buildings for the first time in old China. In 1965, it was changed to the south building of Peace Hotel; Chinachem Hotel was invested by real estate tycoon Sassoon, also known as Sassoon as Sassoon as the Tower, known as the "First Building in the Far East", it was changed to the North Building of Peace Hotel in 1956.

The street buildings in the Bund section pay attention to individuality and constitute a collage scene effect. Neoclassical walls and Baroque mountain flower walls are British, Italian, French, Spanish, etc. For example, the neo-eclectic style of Huiluo Company at the beginning, the neo-Baroque clear water red brick walls and flat continuous coupons of Huisi Company and Riji Foreign Company, the alternating red brick and white walls and Indian side colonnade of Huizhong Hotel, and the American Art Deco shape and green dome roof of the Sassoon Building all highlight the architectural individuality.

I passed the berth at the Shanghai Port Pilot Station and looked up and saw the Oriental Pearl Tower. It had been completed in 2005. The Oriental Pearl Radio TV Tower is one of Shanghai's iconic cultural attractions. It is located in Lujiazui, Pudong New District, and is about 468 meters high. The building was built in July 1991 and put into use in May 1995. It undertakes 6 sets of wireless TV transmission services in Shanghai, covering a radius of 80 kilometers. The Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower is one of the first batch of AAA-level tourist attractions in the country. The tower has landscapes and facilities such as space capsules, revolving restaurants, and Shanghai Urban Historical Development Exhibition Hall. In 1995, it was listed as one of Shanghai's top ten new landscapes.

The Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower is a multi-tube structure. The main body is three hollow towering columns with a diameter of 9 meters and a height of 287 meters. The columns are connected by a 6-meter-high beam; at an altitude of 93 meters, it is supported by three 7 meters in diameter. The inclined column forms a 60° angle with the ground. The building has 425 foundation piles 12 meters into the ground. Three steel structure balls weighing more than a thousand tons are suspended at altitudes of 112 meters, 295 meters and 350 meters respectively. The reinforced concrete building is equipped with three nearly 100 meters high diagonal braces.

The TV tower has three spheres: lower, upper and top. The top ball is called the Space Hall, with a center altitude of 342 meters and a diameter of 16 meters. There are 4 floors, which are the elevator machine room, conference hall, sightseeing floor, and pipeline floor. According to different stress characteristics, the upper ball is a suspended structure and the lower ball is a prestressed concrete shell. The upper sphere has a diameter of 45 meters and a center elevation of 272.5 meters. It has 9 floors, including the public equipment floor, the frequency modulation machine room, the cooling equipment floor,

Transmitter room, aerial KTV private room, revolving restaurant, lookout platform, microwave room, Shangqiu substation and distribution room. The lower sphere has a diameter of 50 meters and a center elevation of 93 meters. It has a total of 4 floors. It serves as an indoor playground, and the lower sphere transformation and distribution room is located in a bowl-shaped shell. The three vertical cylinders are connected by five beams to form five small balls. Each ball is about 12 meters in diameter and is designed as a high-altitude hotel. Enter the grassroots tower base from the large steps on the ground. The tower base has a diameter of 158.4 meters and has a total of 3 floors. Its central part has a diameter of 60 meters. The 2-storey space is the lobby and elevator hall of the TV tower.

The periphery is a three-story tower, which houses a shopping mall of nearly 20,000 square meters. The periphery of the first floor is a 15-meter-wide underground circular garage and VIP reception room. There are a total of 6 escalators and 6 high-speed elevators in the tower. The entire tower base building is covered under green roofs and circular lanes. The structural scheme of hollow cylinders and diagonal braces makes the tower body of the TV tower have good earthquake and wind resistance performance. Its design earthquake resistance standard is "Level 7 does not move, Level 8 does not crack, and Level 9 does not collapse." Among them, the topics of "Wind Engineering Experimental Research" and "Earthquake Engineering Experimental Research" were appraised by experts in 1993 and believed that they had reached the international advanced level.

When I was admiring the Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower, two beautiful women came over. One of them was wearing Hanfu, elegant and elegant. However, the scene of her holding a fan in her right hand and holding a mobile phone in her left hand made a phone call really feel like traveling through. Chinese and foreign tourists gather together, and when some low-quality people behave indecently in public, patrolling security guards will come forward and scold them.

While I looked at the beautiful woman, I admired the river view: Huangpu River is Shanghai's landmark river. It flows through Shanghai's urban area and divides Shanghai into Puxi and Pudong. The Huangpu River is an important waterway in Shanghai. After accepting the Wusong River (Suzhou River) at the Baidu Bridge outside the center of Shanghai City, it fills the Yangtze River at Wusong Mouth. It is the last tributary of the Yangtze River before it merges into the East China Sea.

The total length of the Huangpu River is about 113 kilometers and the river is 300 to 770 meters wide. The Huangpu River starts from Dianshan Lake in Dianfeng, Zhujiajiao Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai City. Dianshan Lake receives a lot of water from the upper Taihu Basin. "Pu" means Zhonghe in the ancient Wu dialect, and generally refers to artificial river. The lower reaches of the Huangpu River were once called Huangxiepu and Chunshen River. Some people believe that this was because Shanghai was once the fief of Huang Xie, the ruler of Chunshen of Chu during the Warring States Period.

Both sides of the Huangpu River gather the essence of Shanghai's urban landscape. A number of river-bottom car tunnels and bridges have been built on the Huangpu River. The Huangpu River is a multi-functional river with both drinking water source, shipping, flood drainage and drainage, fisheries, tourism and other values. The Huangpu River is one of the earliest rivers in history to be artificially dug and dredged. There is a legend about the excavation of the Huangpu River.

Long ago, Shanghai was a desolate swamp with a shallow river winding in the center. If there is more rain, it will flood; if there is less rain, the river bottom will rise to the sky. People suffered deeply from it and cursed it as the "Broken River." During the Warring States Period, Huang Xie, the Yin of Chu, came to the bank of the "Duantou River".

He worked tirelessly to understand the origin and origin of the situation, led the people to dredge and control it, so that it could flow north directly into the Yangtze River estuary and drain into the East China Sea. From then on, on both sides of the Yangtze River, they were not afraid of droughts and floods and lived and worked in peace and contentment. People were grateful for Huang Xie's kindness and called this river Huangxie River, or Huangpu for short. Later, Huang Xie was granted the title of Lord Chun Shenjiang, so he was also known as Chun Shenjiang. Huang Xie, the Lord of Chunshen, was one of the four famous gentlemen during the Warring States Period. He had 3,000 diners and had a huge audience.

Records appeared in the Southern Song Dynasty that it was once named Huangpu Tong, Huangpu Port, Huangpu, and DaHuangpu. In the Qing Dynasty, it was called Huangpu River, nicknamed Huanglongpu, Huangxiepu, Chunshenpu, etc. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,"Huangpu Autumn Waves" were a major sight. On the 18th of the eighth month of the lunar calendar,"Silver Waves Standing on the Wall and Falling Mountains" could be seen in Lujiazui.

Before the Ming Dynasty, the Wusong River (Suzhou River) was the main sea channel for Taihu Lake, and the Huangpu River (named "Huangpu" before the Opium War) was its tributary. At that time, the lower reaches of the Wusong River roughly traveled from Beixinjing to the present Caoyang New Village to Tanziwan, connecting Qiujiang Road to the northeast to Qiujiang Wharf, and then along the section of the Huangpu River north of Fuxing Island to the east and out of Dayupukou (later renamed Wusongkou) into the Yangtze River. At that time, Huangpu originally passed through Shanghai Pu (now Hongkou Port)

Today, near Jiaxing Road and Bridge, it flows into the Wusong River (once called Huangpukou here). In the early Ming Dynasty, due to the serious silting of the Wusong River, the Huangpu Estuary was silted up. Xia Yuanji, then Minister of the Ministry of Revenue, dredged the tributaries on the north and south sides of the Wusong River, diverting Taihu water into the Liuhe River and Baimao directly into the Yangtze River ("pulling Song into Liu"). He also dredged Fanjiabang in the northeast of Shanghai County (that is, the section from Baidu Bridge to Fuxing Island outside the Huangpu River today), allowing Huangpu to flow northwest from Fuxing Island to Wusong Estuary and inject into the Yangtze River. After that, Wusong Estuary actually became Huangpukou, so there is a saying that" Huangpu captures Song".

According to records in the "Shanghai County Governance" of Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, Xia Yuanji, the minister of the Ministry of Revenue in Yongle of the Ming Dynasty, dredged the Great Huangpu River, merged with the Wusong River, and passed through Fanjiabang to Wusongkou into the sea. Hai Rui presided over the construction of a dam and a gate port on the east side of Jinhui Port in Gudongjiang River (then known as Hengliaojing), so that most of the upstream water diverted north and diverted to Huangpu, scouring the downstream riverbed of the Wusong River, completely solving the problem of sedimentation in the Wusong River. The Wusong River, one of the "Three Rivers", has also become a tributary of Huangpu River. The Hengliaojing water flowed northward to form the current Huangpu River. At the same time, only a small amount of water passed through the Zhaogang Port and went directly into the sea through the old waterway, causing the river channel in the lower reaches of the ancient Dongjiang River to continue to be silted up. In the future, this section of the river channel was also known as Zhaogang Port.

The Huangpu River is in the 60-kilometer section of the river that runs through the urban area. It has a wide water surface and a large depth. It is the location of the Shanghai Port Passenger and Freight Terminal. Shanghai Port is China's largest import and export port by throughput. The Huangpu River is in the 60-kilometer section of the river that runs through the urban area. It has a wide water surface and a large depth. It is the location of the Shanghai Port Passenger and Freight Terminal.

Shanghai Port is China's largest import and export port by throughput. Along both sides of the Huangpu River, more than 100 docks of various sizes have been built, including about fifty to sixty thousand tons of deep-water berths. The length of the terminal coastline has exceeded more than 10 kilometers. Huangpu River is a river port, but it also has the nature of a harbor. The total length of the river channel is about 60 kilometers, the average width is 260 meters, and the draft is more than 8 meters.

During the tour, tourists can see the Yangpu Bridge, Nanpu Bridge and Shanghai Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower, which span both sides of the Pujiang River. The two bridges, like two giant dragons lying across the Huangpu River, with the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in the middle, forming a huge picture of "two dragons playing with pearls". The west bank of Huangpu is a series of buildings from all over the world with different styles and strong exotic colors. The east bank of Huangpu is a series of modern buildings that rise from the ground and soar among the clouds.

The cruise ship starts from the Bund Pujiang Tour Pier to the Wusong River Estuary, and the whole journey is about 30 kilometers. Shanghai calls the tourist terminal a "water hotel", and there are also many different hotels here. Cruise boats go down the river, and on the Bund are well-arranged Western-style buildings. At night, the lights are on and bright and gorgeous. When the ship crosses the Suzhou River, you can see the Shanghai Port International Passenger Terminal. Passenger ships from all over the world pass you by with their horns. Along the way, you can see the Gongqing Forest Park, the pagoda-shaped water tower of the Zhabei Power Plant, and the Wusongkou West Battery Site. This is the place where the national hero Chen Huacheng fought to the death to resist the British army. After this, the rolling Yangtze River is here.

Wusong Estuary is the estuary of the Huangpu River and the Yangtze River. It is the location of the Wusong Elevation Standard. This is the place where the three waters of the Huangpu River, the Yangtze River and the East China Sea meet. If it is high tide, you can see the famous Wusong "Three Sandwich Water" wonder. The Huangpu River brings out blue-gray water from the urban area, the Yangtze River brings yellow water with sediment, and the East China Sea water is green in color. Therefore, after confluence, it presents the wonders of yellow, green and green waters.

Wusong Watergate, Jiangwan Pagoda Shadow, Fengdao Fishing Fire, Changhong Lying Waves, Castle Drizzling Green, Dripping Water Reflecting the Sun, Bund Spring and Autumn, Oriental Water, Longhua Evening Bell, etc. will constitute a new "Ten Scenes" that cannot be missed along the Huangpu River.

Today, Shanghai has serious haze, and my vision is not very clear. This is a common problem in large cities. I met the China Hebei Deaf Tourism Group. Hundreds of people gathered together to take a group photo. I stood by the river and enjoyed the shuttle cargo ship. Later, when it was getting late, I walked to Shanghai's pedestrian street. There were many shops and beautiful women, and advertisements of the elderly Lao Fengxiang were everywhere. I walked to Shanghai Landmark Plaza, where there were many shops and crowded with people. A beautiful woman led a group of students past...

I walked to the subway station, passed by some traditional Shanghai ancient buildings, and met a group of police officers in line. I walked to the subway entrance and had lunch at a Shanghai restaurant next to it. The ladies had an average service attitude and spent 32 yuan to eat enough. Then I spent 11 yuan on Metro Line 2 to Shanghai Pudong Airport.

The weather started to change in the afternoon, and the temperature dropped sharply. I went to the airport to use the public toilet, but I actually installed a high-end TOTO toilet with a sprinkler that automatically washes my buttocks, which shows that Shanghai Airport is very advanced.

I met some foreign girls in Terminal 137. I went to say hello. I saw dozens of rows of rechargeable tables. But when I plugged the phone cord into the socket, I found that there was no electricity. I had to go to the bathroom to wash my face. College classmate Yang Zheng went to Houston, USA the day after tomorrow. Later, I also went to Dallas, both of which belonged to Texas. Later, when Yang Zheng was transferring planes in Los Angeles, I happened to be drinking coffee at a Starbucks restaurant in the suburbs of Los Angeles...

At 16:20, I saw the maglev train passing by. I suddenly remembered that I had not taken a maglev train in more than ten years. At 18:00, I took the MRT train to the G101-G552 terminal and met dozens of Hindu elderly people. I found a place to rest, and suddenly found that Weibo English Training Company was suspected to have closed down!

The media was full of words,"Weibo English has escaped, why did a 20-year-old institution suddenly collapse?" Weibo English closed overnight in 21 years after its establishment: Where did the advance receipts go? Weibo English has closed its stores in a large area, and students are trapped in the quagmire of "training loans"... "Report.

I only have this feeling about this kind of news: I am not surprised, sooner or later, there will be more in the future. The model cannot keep up with the times, the economy is down, and the interest chain is too mature, which will inevitably cause such problems. From 2012 to 2013, many institutions that mainly provide adult English training gradually increased English training for young people, because normal institutions will find that doing adult English training is a laborious and unprofitable task.

(TOEFL, IELTS and postgraduate entrance examination training are not included.) Adult English training from the perspective of every process is very difficult to operate. If you want to recruit students honestly and not play tricks, you will not be able to survive. As you can also see, organizations that play tricks have been reducing or transferring their adult English business segments in recent years. As consumers, the logic is different from what people in the industry see. For example, many people have complained about the ugly appearance of adult English-speaking institutions and the problem of false publicity.

It is difficult to adjust public opinions and low satisfaction. It cannot produce results in the short term and cannot meet utilitarian needs. It cannot achieve word of mouth, and its business is also single, making it difficult to further explore customers. In the past, it was really a hit when traveling abroad without being able to speak English. Now many overseas shopping malls have Chinese shopping guides. For example, Los Angeles Airport and Japanese airports, popular islands have Chinese tour guides. The same is true for business. In the past, good English could really shine in foreign companies because English was a scarce ability. Now we will find that no one is promoted in a foreign company simply because of their good English.

Nowadays, good companies all require a bachelor's degree. The undergraduate degree should start at least at CET 4. If you don't listen to and hear, it will be almost the target A2 level. Domestic adult English institutions are more focused on starting from zero-basics to A2. Few people learn B2 in English institutions. The overseas exam is not included because the preparation strategies and intensity are completely different. As a result, the customer base has been narrowed so much without increasing the level of training.

Nowadays, learning paths are diversified, and offline classes are no longer the only option. Although there were online courses in the past, the cost of online courses at that time was not low. For second-tier cities, there was not much difference from offline courses and a sense of distance, and the learning platform was not mature. It's different now,

Nowadays, most adults lack perseverance when learning English because of self-improvement. They just want to pretend to work hard. The cost of 20,000 yuan on a whim is too high. The WeChat reading training camp costs tens of yuan, and some free online classes make it easier for them to sign up... Anyway, they couldn't persist in the end, just to post it on a circle of friends to prove that they are enriching themselves. Then it's better to choose a cheaper one. If you don't learn it well, you won't hurt the money.

Moreover, adults with the ability to learn can be extremely powerful in class, and they can achieve small success by self-study. In fact, for adults, their own learning status is the most important thing. If they have unclear goals and lazy goals, they should save money and travel.

English requires frequent use to continuously improve. Just like the body, if you don't use English for a few weeks, your body will immediately collapse. The same is true for English. For Chinese-speaking adults, if you don't use English for a few days, your level will immediately fall back to that of American children.

In the terminal, I was reading through masterpieces that spanned time such as "Audubon" and "Birds of America"...
