Regarding this itinerary
I have been particularly fond of Shanghai's history and culture recently, and have written some content about Shanghai's historical and cultural architecture. As a native of Shanghai, I have found that after reaching the age of thirty, I have started to feel a bit nostalgic. I realize that I love the memories of old Shanghai more than I imagined, and I love the impact of these old cultures on this modern city. For many tourists who come to Shanghai for travel, I hope that they will not only consider Shanghai as a fashionable metropolis to visit, but also learn about the stories behind these Shanghai style cultures. This trip is not only a time and space journey, but also a detailed travel guide to Songjiang District.
Songjiang District is not a city center in Shanghai, but it has a unique location. As the birthplace of Shanghai's historical and cultural heritage, Songjiang has a longer history compared to the cultural and historical buildings in the city center.Travel check-in

Guangfulin Cultural Site
Guangfulin can be said to be the earliest memory left in the history of Shanghai in a true sense. The cultural heritage site has only been open for two years, but it has already gained a reputation and almost every Shanghainese knows about it. However, I have never had the time to visit here. Now I finally have the opportunity to see its true appearance. After application, I was allowed to take aerial photos of this place, which holds special significance for people in Shanghai. (Aerial photography must be approved by the scenic area)
The most important thing here is to visit the underwater museum, which is built 4-5 meters underwater. Due to the epidemic, it was not open to the public before and just reopened at the end of May. For visitors, there is a feeling of crossing time and space into the underground, entering ancient times, so they must go and take a look. The entrance is designed in the shape of densely packed tree roots, symbolizing that this is the 'root of Shanghai'. By examining archaeological memories, the evolution of Shanghai into a land, the ancient times, the prosperity of Songjiang Prefecture, and the Republic of China era in Shanghai, the story has been rewritten and made readable. In the ancient times of Songjiang, humans were very intelligent. Houses were built along trees because the ground was damp and there was an empty space underneath. It is said that the space was used for pig farming, and wild boars used to live under houses because they were very small. There is also a simulated stable, which is now a queuing area. During the Ming Dynasty, the textile industry in Songjiang was also very prosperous, with Gu Xiu and Huang Daopo being very famous at that time; At that time, Songjiang Railway Station was still in use, running from Songjiang to Qingpu, and the scene looked a bit like that in Chedun Film and Television Base. There are also some scenes that our parents may not have seen before, such as tiger stoves and storybooks, which are quite interesting. The stone pagoda painted on the wall is called the Dharani Sutra Stone Pagoda, which is the oldest surviving building on the ground in Shanghai (859 AD). It is a Buddhist building from the Tang Dynasty and is located in Zhongshan Elementary School in Songjiang. The Duoyun Academy is located within the Guangfulin Cultural Site and is a popular destination for literary and artistic youth. The entire academy is built in a well preserved Huizhou style mansion, with two landscaped courtyards inside. One is a pool decorated with cloud shaped ornaments, and the other is designed for the pine tree courtyard, each with its own unique artistic conception.
The first floor is now open for visitors, while the second floor is not. The first floor is mainly composed of a coffee shop and a cultural and creative bookstore. The treasures of the town store here are the ancient books in the glass display cabinets. The book category also focuses on cultural and historical, calligraphy and painting, as well as content related to Songjiang culture. If you order a cup of coffee here, you can grab a book and sit in the store for an afternoon. The building in front of the exit of the underwater museum is a convenient "Fulin Tea Pavilion", and I recommend grapefruit lactic acid bacteria to everyone.Address: Lane 3260, Guangfulin Road
Ticket: 40 yuan
Time: 09:00-17:00
Yunjian Grain Warehouse
Before, there were many names for Songjiang, such as Rongcheng and Huating, and "Yunjian" was another nickname for Songjiang. The grain warehouse is a collection of 59 grain warehouses built from the 1950s to the 1990s, which witnessed the evolution of the grain industry in Songjiang since the founding of the People's Republic of China. Some warehouses are still under renovation, and the Yunjian Art Museum and Beer Culture Museum are open for exhibition. Interested friends can take a look, and there are also several grain warehouses that should have just finished the exhibition.
The distance between these warehouses is very wide, arranged neatly, and the scale is quite large. There is also a large machinery and a conical bucket placed in the middle of the road, which should have been preserved before. I found that ancient granaries had a characteristic of being located near waterways, perhaps due to convenient transportation. As soon as you walk into the granary, you can see eight large silos (the former site of Songjiang Flour Mill). The exterior has become mottled with a hint of decadence, and there are also unrepaired brick walls and green wooden beam supports in the granary. In the eyes of photographers, this is a very suitable place for taking portraits. The more gorgeous the clothes are, the cooler they look, and the greater the contrast, the better the effect. Speaking of Rongcheng, due to the close relationship between Songjiang and the deer culture, there is a graffiti on one wall here: Ten Deer and Nine Turnbacks. This is also a folk legend in Songjiang during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, which means that nine out of ten must return to their homeland.Address: 327 Songhui East Road
Ticket: Free
Time: Cloud Art Museum 9:30-16:30, closed on Mondays
Drunken White Pool
A sudden heavy rain disrupted our morning tour of Drunken White Pool, forcing us to casually stroll around the pavilions and corridors with umbrellas; Zuibai Pond is one of the five major gardens in Shanghai. Before coming to Zuibai Pond, I had been thinking about what it was and why it was drunk. Later, I learned that it was a Songjiang painter who admired Bai Juyi in the early Qing Dynasty and imitated Zuibai Hall to create Zuibai Pond here.
The Drunken White Pool is bigger than I imagined, with a stone paved road and a forest path that makes me feel quite cool. It must be very comfortable to stroll here in summer. Just a few steps away, you can see a Jiangnan residential house. As soon as you enter, you can see the carved works. It turns out that this is the carved hall, where the window frames, door lintels, and so on all have various carved contents, not to be repeated. The relief in the hall depicts the story of the Three Kingdoms. Walking to the edge of the outer garden pond at the long corridor, it is still the time when small lotus flowers are just emerging. When the lotus flowers cover the entire pond, I believe the scenery will be even more beautiful. Be sure to enjoy the beautiful scenery of this pond at the Xiangzhen Pavilion. Even though it's raining today, there are still many Shanghai aunties dressed up and discussing their performances in the pavilion. Walk out of the long corridor and head towards the inner garden. After crossing a small bridge, you will soon see the large character stones of Zuibaichi Calligraphy Park. This is the inner garden of Zuibaichi, which is the core part of the entire scenic area. Entering this place feels like entering a wealthy household, with four halls centered around a pond. In the center of one hall, there is a stone statue of Dong Qichang, while the rooms on either side display some works by primary and secondary school students in Songjiang. There are many stone carvings in the Drunken White Pool, totaling 30 pieces, all of which are cultural relics. The Songjiang Shilu Jiuhuitou Stone Tablet is here, but I forgot to take a picture. There are also stone carvings of the portrait of Yunjian Bangyan, etc. It is said that some of them were damaged during the Cultural Revolution.Address: No. 64 Renmin South Road, Songjiang (Zuibaichi Station on Metro Line 9)
Ticket: 12 yuan
Time: The outer garden opens at 6:00, the inner garden opens at 7:00, the entrance hall opens at 8:00, and the garden closes at 17:00
Sheshan State Forest Park
Sheshan is an important historical and cultural site in Shanghai, with a long history and a rich cultural heritage. When I was young, people always joked with me and asked if there were mountains in Shanghai? The Jiufeng area of Songjiang is the only hilly region in Shanghai, including the well-known Sheshan, Tianma Mountain, Xiaokunshan, and so on. However, Sheshan is the most beautiful scenery inside.
Almost anyone who attended elementary school in Shanghai would have a spring or autumn outing to Sheshan. In my childhood memories, I even visited the Sheshan Observatory, and at that time, I really knew nothing about the starry sky. But now I am revisiting the old place, but unfortunately the observatory, museum, and church are not open, Recommended walking route: Take the West Gate car lane directly up to the observation deck, which can avoid the fatigue of climbing. Then, go all the way down the mountain to visit the Sheshan Bell Tower and Xiudao Tower. Exit from the East Gate, which is also a relatively easy way down the mountain road. Shanghai is about to enter the rainy season, and the mountain road in Sheshan is a bit damp. The Sheshan Observatory is an important observation point for both Shanghai and China, and news from the Sheshan Observatory can often be heard in the news. It should be noted that the observatory and church have not yet opened due to the recent epidemic, so friends who are planning to go should pay attention to the latest news.Address: Top of Sheshan Mountain
Admission: The planetarium and church are not yet open, and entering Sheshan National Forest Park is free.
Shanghai Happy Valley
Happy Valley is an amusement park under the Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) brand and is considered a cornerstone of domestic amusement park brands. Despite nearly 11 years of operation, Shanghai Happy Valley still attracts a large number of visitors, and even on weekdays, popular attractions still have to queue up. The entire amusement park includes seven themed areas: Sunshine Harbor, Happy Hour, Shanghai Beach, Shangri La, Happy Ocean, Gold Mine Town, and Hurricane Bay.
The classic project of Happy Valley is the roller coaster. There are various types of roller coasters here, including thrilling and exciting ones as well as those suitable for children. The most representative one among them is the well-known wooden roller coaster; The wooden roller coaster "Gu Mu You Long" with a total length of 1200 meters, as well as the bottomless roller coaster "Jueding Xiong Feng" with a maximum height of 60 meters, and the fastest roller coaster "Blue Moon Speed". It is said that a few days ago, when a celebrity came to film, they called out to play this. Now popular projects such as Gu Mu You Long and Jue Ding Xiong Feng have introduced ticket vending machine systems, which can use facial recognition to pick up tickets and play according to the queue time on the ticket. This greatly reduces the time wasted in waiting in line to play. However, do not come back after exceeding the time limit, as you will need to obtain a new account. There are also many performances in the amusement park, such as the recent Bubble Show, Shangri La's Parrot Show, and Happy Ocean's Sea Lion Show. It is recommended to pay attention to the performance time and arrange the order of play reasonably. The Maya Water World is set to open in late June this summer, and the Happy Ocean area in Happy Valley has a dedicated link to reach the Water World. It is recommended to play both attractions together. Recently, there has been an additional browsing project for the internet famous small train at the entrance and exit. This small train runs around the entire Happy Valley and is recommended to purchase a full day ticket, which can save some distance. Especially for those with children, the price is reasonable, with adults spending 30 days a day and children spending 15 days a day. Happy Valley has always been very dedicated to its activities. There are events during the summer vacation and holidays, and there are also ongoing park and themed events, as well as open nightclubs. I think this is the correct way to open an amusement park that has been operating in Shanghai for 11 years.Address: No. 888 Linhu Road, Sheshan Town, Songjiang District (there is a shuttle bus at Sheshan Station on Line 9)
Ticket: There are currently 2 tickets available for 230 yuan
Time: 09:30-18:00 in the past two months, please refer to the official website for time changes
Smurfs Park
The Shanghai Shimao Elf City Theme Park, located next to the famous Shenkeng Hotel in Sheshan, is divided into two phases. The Blue Elf Park is the second phase, which just opened at the end of May and is an indoor amusement park. In the Smurfs Park, the animated scenes are 100% restored, combined with immersive real-life experiences. The cartoon characters are made in a 1:1 human scale, giving us a feeling of being immersed in the world of animation. The amusement park is divided into several different themed areas with different main scenes.
Forest area: Flowers, green plants, and small insects surround you like a forest maze. Village area: Mushroom houses of various shapes and cute designs are simply too attractive. Gegewu's Home: As a Smurf, I am only as tall as three apples. Coming to Gegewu's home makes me feel a little scared! The surrounding environment and lighting have dimmed significantly, adding a sense of mystery and tension. Da Mao District: This is the area composed of characters from the anime "Ling Shi Mao Jian Wang". I haven't seen it before My niece has seen it before, and surprisingly, the children even turned around and explained to me various adventure stories from Da Mao, Tao Tao, and Lei Hao. Damao District is also rich in educational significance for parents and children, not to be missed! Every day, there will be a float parade in the Smurfs Park to have an intimate interaction with tourists. Elves, Blue Sister, Blue Dad, GeGeGewu, Azcat, and so on, will all come together to greet the children and kids in the parkAddress: 5088 Chenhua Road, Songjiang District, Shanghai
Time: 10:00-18:00
Admission: Free for those under 1.1 meters, 50% off for those between 1.1-1.4 meters, and 160 yuan for adults
Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden
Chenshan Botanical Garden and Smurfs Park are two adjacent places, which are really big enough to play for a whole day. Let's talk about the featured greenhouses here first. It's a bit far from the entrance, so it's recommended to take an electric scooter and play all the way out. The greenhouse consists of three pavilions, including Tropical Flower and Fruit Pavilion, Sand Plant Pavilion, and Rare Plant Pavilion. It is the largest exhibition greenhouse in Asia, and the scenery is comparable to the greenhouses in Singapore's Marina Bay Park. We also have a mini version of the waterfall; Our sand plant exhibition hall is still the world's largest indoor sand plant exhibition hall. During the visit, I happened to meet someone who was taking commercial photos, and I felt that this exhibition hall is a place where large pieces can be produced in minutes.
Another must visit place is the Mine Garden. At first glance, it looks a bit like the pit of the Deep Pit Hotel, with waterfalls and a walking trail inside the pit. Compared to the Deep Pit Hotel, it is slightly smaller, but there is also a meaning behind it. The scale of the rose garden is larger than imagined, and the fragrance of flowers can be smelled all the way. Various rose varieties are competing to bloom, even on rainy days, they cannot stop the beauty of the flowers. The science popularization in the botanical garden is very good. Primary and secondary school students from Shanghai or surrounding areas often come here for spring and autumn outings, so it is also a good place for family outings on weekends.Address: 3888 Chenhua Road, Songjiang District
Ticket: 60 yuan Time: 08:00-17:00
new century grand hotel songjiang
After visiting so many attractions in Songjiang this time, I decided to stay overnight. Some of the attractions are located in Sheshan, some near the University City, and some in the old city area. Therefore, the most convenient option is to arrange it at the center of the entire itinerary - Songjiang New City. The Songjiang Kaiyuan Mingdu Hotel is quite famous in Songjiang, with a particularly good geographical location. It is located in the Kaiyuan Mediterranean Commercial Center, which is a very mature and well-established commercial center that has been open for several years. Therefore, there are various shopping and dining options outside the hotel, and it is very popular. There are also many choices for me to drink milk tea, and the transportation is also very convenient. Although I also recommend self driving when traveling in Sheshan.
My room is on the 19th floor, which is considered the middle floor. The view from the upper floors is still very good. Across from my room is Songjiang Central Park. The room is spacious, and the bedding is also very skin friendly. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower, with a four separate design. If you don't want to go out for a meal, I suggest trying the Chinese restaurant in the hotel - Jinyuan. On the second floor of the hotel, it is a very mature restaurant. Our dishes are conventional, and the ingredients are fresh. The lobster meat is very elastic and basically won't get stuck.Address: No. 1799 Renmin North Road, Songjiang District
Price: Room 600-700 per night, over 300 per person.
Uncle Xiao
Laodizi Shanghai's folk cuisine focuses on rural dishes and is a popular local restaurant in Songjiang. If you want to eat local food, you must come here. There are usually many locals who come to eat, so be sure to go earlier during off peak hours. There are two stores in Songjiang, and we went to the head office. As soon as we entered, all kinds of Dim sum were displayed beside the passageway. The decoration of the hotel was also very folk.
I feel like I want to introduce every dish to you. Intangible Cultural Heritage Soft Cake is a specialty of Yexie Town in Songjiang. The filling here includes pine nuts, raisins, and bean paste, with 7 pieces priced at 23 yuan per cage; There is also crab shell roe with crab roe, which is fresh, fragrant, and crispy. It is grilled on site for about 15 minutes and costs 4 yuan each. There are also watermelon peels made in summer at home when I was a child, which are sold here. I think older people will definitely like sauce duck. It's cooked very well but not hard at all, and it can still be eaten even if it has bad teeth. However, the most important thing here is that I would recommend the braised and soul stirring organic fish for 148 yuan, which is steamed and cooked at the table. If two people come to eat, this dish is probably enough to eat. The fish meat is tender, but it is also very flavorful. The sauce soup is very delicious, slightly spicy, which is in line with the taste of Shanghai people. Even the Sichuanese people at the table say it is delicious, and it feels like the taste is universal across the country. It's not yet the season for hairy crabs, so we ordered stir fried rice cake with green crabs. The handmade rice cake here is also a recommended dish. As soon as I came up, I ate four pieces of rice cake, it was so delicious. Recently, the restaurant obtained a certificate to make pufferfish and started selling pufferfish. We tried pufferfish soup again, but unfortunately, we ate too much and got a bit full, so we packed it up and left.Address: No. 768 Songwei North Road, Sanming Square, restaurant with parking voucher
Per capita: 70-80 yuan
Forest Hotel
Walking down the mountain from Sheshan all the way to the opposite side of the east gate exit is the Forest Hotel. This is a high-end resort hotel, backed by mountains and bamboo forests. There are detached mansions and rooms suitable for ordinary people. You can choose according to your own situation. If you are lucky that day, you may have the opportunity to visit the detached mansion in Building 9. It is said that it cannot be booked through online channels because there are requirements for guests to stay here, and home parties cannot be held. This 3-story small villa can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Sheshan from the balcony on the 3rd floor.
There is a forest family along the roadside of the Forest Hotel, which is a good place to eat local cuisine. Don't think that the dining expenses at the resort hotel will be very expensive. It is really affordable here, especially suitable for having lunch here after visiting Sheshan. Taoyuan Boiled -sliced cold chicken is a local chicken from Sheshan. The meat is delicious and the price is not more than half 58 yuan. This is my favorite. In addition, Braised pork belly with vegetable rice is really delicious. The soy sauce and lard in the meat juice seep into the bacon and rice below, and the rice and meat become very delicious. The soup and dishes that locals in Songjiang love to eat are similar to the thickening method of shepherd's purse and tofu soup, which can bring out the freshness of the dishes. It is said that the soup inside is made of chicken soup, which is why the freshness of the ingredients can be enhanced. The fish soup here is also recommended, which uses fish fillet made from basa fish and a milky white soup. You can also add scallions and pepper powder according to your own taste, without any fishy smell. There are also some recommended dishes, such as pig cartilage, curry beef brisket (Thai style), pancake wrapped eel shreds, fried salted trotters, etc., all of which taste very good.Address: Inside Sheshan Forest Hotel, 9259 Waiqingsong Road
Per capita: Catering costs around 70-80 yuan per person.
Travel Summary
The beauty of Songjiang is not as prosperous as the downtown area of Shanghai, but it quietly influences every Shanghainese with its own story, and also adds more choices and fun to our leisure life.
