I heard that Wufang Village, Qingcun Town, Fengxian District, one of the first nine rural revitalization demonstration villages in Shanghai, has a good scenery, so I wanted to have a look on the spot. I arrived in Fengxian on August 16, 2020, and I made a special turn to Wufang Village on my return journey in the afternoon.

As soon as I entered Wufang Village, my eyes lit up. It can be seen that houses, agriculture, forests, water, fields, roads, bridges, etc. have all been carefully designed, laid out and renovated. The original farmhouses have been renovated and rebuilt on the original basis into country houses and entrepreneurial office buildings with unified appearance style and well-organized appearance.

After the transformation, the village retains the original rural style. The buildings with white walls and black tiles are integrated with the rural environment. The architectural colors are simple, elegant and clean, and innovative. The soft sloping roof streamline, simple wood decorative lines and window frames, and The exterior walls of the building painted with traditional style murals, the village landscape with different steps shows the softness of the Shanghai style water town and the simplicity and nature of the rural style. It is said that the overall style renovation and design of Wufang Village originated from the Chinese painting "Ten Scenes of Wufang in Taoyuan". It seems that the renovated Wufang Village does have a bit of the rural flavor in Chinese paintings. "Everything you see is scenery" reflects the original intention of "painting beauty in the countryside and allowing art to retain nostalgia".

The peaches in Wufang Village, Taoyuan, are yellow peaches. It is said that the oldest yellow peach tree in Wufang Village was planted in the early 1980s. In the 1990s, Qingcun Town, Fengxian District, Shanghai City, where Wufang Village is located, was named the "Hometown of Yellow Peaches in China" by the Ministry of Agriculture. The rural buildings with pink walls and black tiles complement each other best in the countryside. When I arrived in Wufang Village, it was the time when the yellow peaches were ripe. It was no longer the most beautiful time in Wufang Village when peach blossoms were in full bloom in spring. Because the sun was like fire, the peach leaves were low and weak, and the tree scenery was poor. Although there are no peach blossoms, Wufang Village is still pleasing to the eye with green trees and clear water.

Looking up, you can see the preserved original yellow peach trees, orange trees, persimmon trees, neem trees, beech trees, pomegranate and other trees, bamboo forests and vegetable gardens, small gardens, small vegetable gardens, small orchards and other small gardens in front and behind the houses next to the village house.

The rich vegetation creates a rural atmosphere. The surrounding areas of the building, road intersections and bridge sides are dotted with Yoshino cherry, pear trees, pomegranate trees, beautiful plum, wintersweet, red maple, chicken claw maple, etc., and the lower layer is planted with golden chrysanthemums, daisies, spiraea, beautiful evening primrose, fine-leaf beauty cherry, samurai, large-flowered willow tree and southern tianzhu.

In order to better create a rural atmosphere, the pedestrian paths in the village are paved with old stone slabs, small green bricks, pebbles and other elements, coupled with a combination design of rural plants and simple sketches, making the pedestrian path more rural. Materials with a rural flavor are used for paving the ground, walls, etc., and farming tools such as bottles, cans, and millstones that are not needed by villagers are arranged into landscape sketches.

The century-old house in the village, which has become a village history museum, retains the architectural style of that year relatively well. The originally installed aluminum alloy doors and windows have been changed back to Chinese-style wooden windows and doors, achieving the effect of repairing them as old.

The natural river course in Wufang Village has obviously been dredged and renovated. The riverside is planted with reeds, mosaic reed, reed reed, etc., which adds to the wild interest; the water surface is planted with various standing, floating and submerged plants such as yellow calamus, iris, lotus, water lilies, and barracuda grass. Small wooden boats are also parked in the river port, and picturesque water scenery can be seen everywhere.

Wufang Village is rich in water system, densely covered with rivers, and naturally there are many bridges. It is said that there are nearly 20 bridges in the village. Although the number is large, it has unique characteristics. Overall, the function and style are suitable. Due to its large size, the carriage-friendly bridge is decorated with stone railings; while the footbridge is light and small, blending into the surrounding scenery.

The renovated Wufang Village is not large in area, covering an area of only 358 acres. It can be walked around in half an hour. It should be just a villager group or a natural village in Wufang Village. I'm afraid more areas in Wufang Village are still the same. The rural revitalization demonstration village has a lot of investment. The small area of Wufang Village seems to be building a rural area of creative cultural tourism. It includes rural youth entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship centers, rural food tribes, rural leisure diverticulum, living stations, villagers 'homes B & Bs, rural cultural and creative experience centers, natural education classes and other projects. I am afraid that the renovation of this village will not be possible without hundreds of millions of yuan. Because it is still in the initial stage, some sites have not yet been completed, and some doors are closed.

Walking through Wufang Village, the village looks elegant and tidy, but it is somewhat lonely. Although it is a weekend, there are very few tourists. Although Wufang's countryside is exquisite and elegant, the area is not large. It is enough to wander for a short day. There are no special natural scenery near Wufang, and there are no large-scale leisure and entertainment places like Disney. It is difficult to attract tourists from the central Urban area to stay in Wufang. Wufang Village B & B is said to have 17 rooms, named Chenyun, Xinglu, Xijian, etc. It has a bit of an ancient landscape and pastoral life, but it seems that very few people open their doors to welcome guests. I am not optimistic about the prospects of Wufang B & B and rural tourism.

No matter what, for the villagers in the renovated area of Wufang Village, it is a beautiful thing to live in such an elegant, clean and pleasing living environment. This is really an ideal pastoral rural scene in poetry and painting. Of course, maintaining and maintaining such a pleasant living environment requires sustained and substantial investment, which cannot be easily replicated or promoted.
