I came to Shaoxing again with a long lost love for Jiangnan, feeling the aging flavor of this water city on the Wupeng boat. Nature and culture blend perfectly here. Shaoxing is like a pot of fine wine, the longer you taste it, the more intoxicated it becomes.
Comment on ShaoxingThe soapberry trees in the Baicao Garden, the fennel beans twisted by Kong Yiji, and the two hundred year old waxberries in the Sanwei Bookstore.
This is Zhong Lingyuxiu from Shaoxing.
Who left a thousand lines of poetry in the slight drunkenness of Shaoxing yellow wine,
Who is crossing the wall of time in the canopies.
In the alleyway filled with bluestone slabs,
I accidentally stumbled into the unparalleled charm of Jiangnan.
In this fulfilling four day and three night journey, I have almost traveled to every district of Shaoxing, from the ancient city to Keqiao, from Zhuji to Xinchang, and every stop has made me feel the uniqueness of Shaoxing.
Day 1: Lu Xun's Hometown - Huangjiu Museum - Shen Yuan Night
Day2: Keyan Scenic Area - Lu Town - Dou Ledian Palace - Longhua Temple - Qiaobo Ice and Snow World - Anchang Ancient Town - Keqiao Ancient Town
Day3: Millennium Cedarya Tree Forest - Wuxie Scenic Area - Yueju Town
Day4: Dafo Temple - Xuwei Art Museum - Cangqiao Zhijie
Comment on Lu Xun's HometownA new day begins with the most famous hometown of Lu Xun in Shaoxing. One land nurtures another people, and in the ancient and fragrant land of Shaoxing, it has nurtured multiple outstanding figures with outstanding ideas. Among them, the most famous is Mr. Lu Xun, who has always appeared in our Chinese textbooks.
Shaoxing is the hometown where Mr. Lu Xun grew up and lived in his early years, leaving behind a lot of the atmosphere of his life back then. Lu Xun's original name was Zhou Shuren, so the new and old Tai Men here are known as the Zhou Family Old Tai Men - Lu Xun's ancestral home, and the Zhou Family New Tai Men - Lu Xun's former residence. As soon as I arrived at the gate, I saw a blue slate mural that Mr. Lu Xun had walked through during his life.
From Baicao Garden to Sanwei Bookstore, from Shoujia Terrace Gate to his picturesque garden, every blade of grass, every tree, every brick, and every tile tells the story of Lu Xun's childhood and youth back then.
Baicaoyuan should be the earliest place we came into contact with Lu Xun, from the Three Flavors Bookstore to Baicaoyuan, which was Lu Xun's favorite place to visit when he was a child. When Lu Xun was a child, he and his friends often came here to play and frolic, picking purple and red mulberries and sour and sweet raspberries, catching crickets and playing with cantharides, sometimes digging the roots of Polygonum multiflorum, sometimes picking the fruits of Magnolia vine. In the summer, they cool off under the shade of trees, listen to cicadas singing, and in the cold winter, they catch birds and sparrows in the snow.
Although the bricks and tiles here have undergone several repairs, one can still vaguely feel the atmosphere of the past. Approaching the ancient mansion is like entering Lu Xun's childhood life. The house, rich in cultural heritage, endowed Lu Xun with a unique life compared to ordinary people.
Every door and window is imbued with a profound historical and cultural atmosphere, as if the child with a bit of bookishness will come from behind the door.
Lu Xun's Hometown is the most well preserved, culturally rich, and classic water town historical block in the urban area. It not only reproduces the original appearance of Lu Xun's life, but also includes the unopened Western Wing, the recently restored Zhou Family New Terrace Gate and Shou Family Terrace Gate, as well as the familiar ancient houses and historical sites in Lu Xun's writings.
There is a water pavilion courtyard in the former residence, with a small stage set up. Every day, there is a fixed time for Yue opera performances, mostly 5-minute long excerpts. Yue opera can still represent the culture of the water town in Jiangnan.
In Lu Xun's former residence, you can still see the back and forth of the Wupeng boat, which is a unique transportation tool in the Jiangnan water town, the spirit of the water town, and even the scenery of the water town. In the ancient city of Shaoxing, many times sightseeing can also be done by boat.
Comment on the Huangjiu MuseumIt is said that Shaoxing people grew up soaking in wine jars, and Huadiao wine and Huangjiu are the most proud places of Shaoxing people. If you are interested in Shaoxing Huangjiu, you can come to China's largest Huangjiu Museum, located in Shaoxing, to take a look.
The wine is named after Shaoxing, and Shaoxing is passed down because of it. Shaoxing yellow wine has a long history and profound cultural heritage. In the process of time refining, Shaoxing Huangjiu has multiple characteristics. It is both material and spiritual, elegant and vulgar, belonging to both the royal family and the grassroots. It is both a liquor product and a cultural product, and these characteristics can be found in this museum.
The treasure of the Chinese Huangjiu Museum is the oldest existing physical Huangjiu, aged for a hundred years in 1928.
The Chinese Yellow Wine Museum consists of six halls and one corridor, including the Wine History Hall, Wine Customs Hall, Wine Industry Hall, Wine Technology Hall, Three Dimensional Wine Art Hall, Gu Yue Long Shan Hall, and Wine and Poetry Corridor.
Huangjiu, beer, and wine are the three ancient liquors in the world. Among them, only Huangjiu originated and flourished in China. The production history of Shaoxing Huangjiu is very long. The various drinking utensils and tools displayed in the hall allow me to truly feel the long history and profound cultural heritage of Shaoxing liquor,
From King Goujian of Yue during the Spring and Autumn period, to the calligrapher Wang Xizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and then to Lu Xun during the Republic of China period, they all indulged in the delicious taste of Shaoxing yellow wine.
The exhibition hall also showcases Gu Yue Long Shan, a traditional Chinese yellow wine, with finely crafted bottles and a rich aroma, making it more like a work of art.
In the museum, I also saw various types of traditional Chinese and fine yellow wine, and I could feel the Chinese people's emphasis on Shaoxing yellow wine just from these wine bottles. Strolling along the wine history hall, wine customs hall, wine industry hall, and underground wine cellars, I also had a clear understanding of the entire historical context of the development of yellow wine.
Comment on Shen Yuan's NightThe night in Shaoxing cannot be missed, but also the night in Shenyuan. The song "Hairpin Phoenix" has created a timeless garden. In this Shen's Garden, Lu You met Tang Wan, and the power of love gave birth to this beautiful story. Following the darkness, I walked into the Shen Garden, looking forward to an equally beautiful performance.
Shen Yuan is a famous garden for love. Under the night sky, Shen Yuan is colorful, elegant, and classical. The faint lights complement each other, and the garden scenery is dense and dense. Of course, the focus of this time is still to appreciate the performance of "Shen Yuan Qing" in the hall.
Shen Yuanqing revolves around the love story between Lu You and Tang Wan, with the finishing touch being the familiar "Hairpin Phoenix".
There are actually two poems in "Hairpin Phoenix", one written by Lu You and the other by Tang Wan. The encounter between a talented scholar and a talented woman is always so pure.
Red crispy hands, yellow vine wine, the city is filled with spring palace walls and willows. The east wind is evil, the joy is thin, a melancholy mood lingers, and a few years of separation. Wrong, wrong, wrong!
Spring is as old as before, people are empty and thin, tears are red, and shark silk is transparent. Peach blossoms fall, leisurely pool pavilion. Although the mountain alliance is here, it is difficult to rely on the brocade book. Mo, Mo, Mo!
The world is thin, human relationships are evil, and rain brings dusk flowers that fall easily. The morning breeze is dry, tears are lingering, and I want to write about my thoughts. I am speaking alone and slanting. Difficult, difficult, difficult!
People become different, today is not yesterday, and the sick soul is often like a rope on a swing. The sound of the horn is cold, the night is desolate, afraid of people asking questions, swallowing tears and pretending to be happy. Hide, hide, hide!
"Shen Yuan Qing" is the essence of "Shen Yuan Night", showcasing the poignant love story between Lu You and Tang Wan to the fullest through unique local folk art performances. Although it is sung by Yue Opera, the form of performance allows most people who are not familiar with Yue Opera to understand it.
The entire performance is divided into Spring Tour · Shen Garden, Endless Love · Shen Garden, Sad Death · Shen Garden, and Affection · Shen Garden. The performance is very infectious and immersive, showcasing the romantic and gentle beauty of Shen Garden, a famous garden in the Song Dynasty, and the love story between Lu You and Tang Wan in front of us.
Every time the butler of Shenyuan appears, the poignant story becomes humorous and witty again. The various costumes and dances also dazzled me. It turned out that Yue Opera could also be so exquisite.
A song of love in Shen Yuan brings our thoughts back to reality. In the past, I used to love the love between Lu You and Tang Wan, which was equally matched. This kind of love between words and ink is actually more romantic than the sweet talk we have now.
Night tour time: 18:30-21:00
Hall performance time: 19:40-20:30
Ticket price: C ticket costs 80 yuan, B ticket costs 118 yuan, A ticket costs 138 yuan, and AB ticket is seated in the front two rows.
Comment on Ke Yan Scenic AreaThe next day, I crossed from the old city of Shaoxing to Keqiao. As someone who had come to Keqiao before, I secretly felt that this was the most fun place in Shaoxing because there were countless scenic spots, and the most important one was the Keyan Scenic Area. As a 4A level scenic spot, Keyan has a history of over 1800 years, dating back to the Han Dynasty. It is a scenic area with the connotation of ancient Yue culture and the characteristics of ancient stone quarrying landscapes, integrating the water town style of Shaoxing, ancient stone quarrying landscapes, and mountain forest ecology.
The Keyan Scenic Area has a very large area and can't be fully explored for a long time, so it's important to plan your route carefully. The biggest highlight among them is the ancient stone mining heritage, including two Tiangong Buddha statues carved from stones and cloud bones, towering into the clouds and very spectacular. Entering the Keyan Scenic Area, the first thing you pass by is the Lotus Listening Sound. As long as you stand on the lotus pattern, speak or shout towards the stone wall on one side, there will be echoes, and only when you stand on the Lotus Terrace can you hear the echoes. It's really amazing.
Passing through the lotus and listening to the music leads to the core of the scenic area, the Heavenly Buddha. This completely carved stone Buddha is one of the four great stone Buddhas in Zhejiang, and is the reincarnated Buddha Maitreya of Shakyamuni. The Buddha is 20.8 meters tall, with his left hand touching his knee and his right hand bending and lifting to recite scriptures. Due to some historical reasons, the left hand of the Great Buddha has also been damaged. The exquisite carving of this stone Buddha today is breathtaking. The most magical thing is that the statue of the Buddha, along with the niches, canopy, incense burner, lotus platform, and stone steps of the Buddha hall, are all carved from the same giant stone, which took three generations to complete. Many tourists come to the Keyan Scenic Area to pay their respects, which is said to be very effective.
Across from the Stone Buddha is another iconic attraction of Ke Yan, the Cloud Bone, a stone pillar that rises above the clouds. In fact, it is Ke Mountain that has been left over by the stone workers. The cloud bone is 31 meters high, with a bottom circumference of 4 meters. The thinnest part is less than 1 meter. The top of the cloud bone is very solid, but the base is as thin as a hammer standing upside down, which is why the cloud bone is named. Although it appears to be heavy on the head and light on the feet, it has stood for more than 1400 years without falling.
Two giant stone pillars echo each other, forming one of the famous Eight Scenic Spots of Ke Yan. This used to be a quarry, where generations of skilled craftsmen continued to excavate. The exquisite craftsmanship created these unique and diverse stone pillar shapes, which were given more cultural significance by later generations.
Ke Yan is famous for its stone scenery, but this was originally a Ke Mountain. Due to its excellent stone quality, many ancient architectural stones were collected from here. A large Ke Mountain, with most of the stones excavated, has been preserved in its current form and protected.
The Keyan Scenic Area also has the unique water town style of Jiangnan, and the most prominent feature is the Jianhu Scenic Area. This lake is also a millennium old lake with a history of more than 1800 years. It has four scenic spots, including the Eastern Han Dynasty flute pavilion, the Nanyang Autumn Fan, the Five Bridges Walking Moon, and the Hulu Drunken Island. The mountains and waters are compatible and the rocks and lakes complement each other.
There is also a very interesting attraction in the Keyan Scenic Area, which is the Yue Nv Spring Dawn. It is a lake view located in the area of the ancient fiber path, and is known as the Yue Nv Spring Dawn because it looks like a girl wearing silk. In fact, you need to look at the lake from the air to see the girl's appearance more clearly. Usually, you can vaguely describe the girl's face, for example, the protruding eyes are the girl's ears, the water jar in the middle is the girl's ears, and the curved lake shore below is the girl's tender chest. As long as you have a little imagination, you can see that this is exactly the shape of a girl.
Alternatively, you can take a stroll by the Jianhu Lake and enjoy the ecological scenery of Ke Yan. You can also take a boat ride to explore the entire surface of Jianhu Lake and appreciate the wisdom of ancient stone mining techniques. A local friend from Shaoxing told me that they used to visit Ke Yan as their backyard when they were young. It is precisely because of its rich natural attractions and profound historical accumulation that Ke Yan has become a favorite place for people to go for outings.
Comment on Lu TownWe all know the famous figures in Shaoxing, and the most famous among them is the great literary figure Lu Xun. As the hometown of Lu Xun, Shaoxing has left many traces of him in this city. In addition to Lu Xun's hometown, there is also a Lu town in Keqiao, Shaoxing. The origin of this ancient town is precisely from Lu Xun's famous novel "Kong Yiji", which cost over a billion yuan to restore the scenes in Lu Xun's short story.
In fact, in the history of Shaoxing, there was no such a small town as Luzhen. It was entirely because Mr. Lu Xun mentioned such a water town in many of his novels, and the most famous one was the line in "Kong Yiji" that "the layout of hotels in Luzhen is different from elsewhere." Therefore, it is just a combination of the ancient town he lived in when he was a child.
In fact, the small town of Lu Zhen has existed in Lu Xun's heart for a long time, and through his novels, many people have known about such a beautiful and ancient town. Now, Ke Qiao has truly restored the illusory ancient town depicted by Lu Xun, turning people's imagination of the scenes depicted in his books into reality.
As soon as you enter the ancient town, you will see typical Jiangnan style buildings, with pink walls and black tiles, small bridges and flowing water, and scattered houses and shops along the river. The houses and signs on the main street exude a strong aroma of yellow wine. There is a very large stage on the central square, where there is usually a traditional Chinese opera performance. It is not noisy and simple, making it very suitable for taking a walk with friends and family.
Lu Town is very large, and along the winding river, most of the prototypes can be found in Mr. Lu Xun's articles. At the dining area, there is a waterfront stage where some Huangmei opera performances are also performed. The stage faces the restaurant, and if you're lucky, you can also enjoy Shaoxing cuisine while enjoying Shaoxing opera performances.
Comment on Dou Led Tiangong and Longhua TempleThe Great Fragrant Forest, also known as the Pure Land of Heaven, leads to the Heavenly Palace. This is the residence of Maitreya Bodhisattva and the refuge of Maitreya believers. Located on top of the Kuaiji Mountains in Shaoxing, the Lotus Throne stands tall, and inside lies the world's tallest indoor Buddha, Maitreya Buddha.
Dulidian Scenic Area is composed of Dulidian Palace in the Heaven Pure Land and Longhua Temple in the World Pure Land Kuaiji Mountain. The first thing I saw was the majestic memorial archway of Longhua Temple. There are not many visitors here, which is in line with the idea of Buddhism's purity, but the incense fire is also very vigorous.
The architectural complex of Longhua Temple is built along the mountain, so from a distance, you can see buildings arranged in a stepped pattern. Longhua Temple is one of the largest temples I have ever seen. I first arrived here, perhaps due to the rise of the mountain. The entire temple complex is like floating in the air. Through ingenious spatial utilization and reasonable functional layout, the temples here look very grand, and the painted beams and carved buildings are also full of artistic sense.
And what left the deepest impression on me was the lotus throne behind Longhua Temple, which is also the core of the Dou Du Tian Scenic Area. The Doudu Heavenly Palace is located at the top of Baolin Peak, the highest peak of Kuaiji Mountain. To reach here, you need to climb layers of steps, or you can take a shuttle bus to reach below the Lotus Throne.
The resplendent lotus throne is the symbol of Dou Li Tian. There are 48 copper pasted lotus flowers. The surrounding buildings of White Marble set off the whole Dou Li Tian Palace, which is very dazzling. From top to bottom, there are purple lotus flowers, viewing platform, Shanfa Hall and seven treasure walls. It can be said that the unique shape of Dou Li Tian Palace has become a landmark building in Zhejiang.
Under the Dou Du Heavenly Palace, there is also a water pool surrounded by the twelve zodiac signs, which, like the bottom of the lotus throne, are also close to each other. These twelve zodiac signs are like guardians, guarding the Dou Du Heavenly Palace.
What surprised me the most was the interior of the Doudu Heavenly Palace, which was simply colorful. Because the dome was decorated in the shape of the sky, this Maitreya Buddha is also known as the open-air Buddha. The decorations in the Heavenly Palace are simply magnificent and awe inspiring. I stood there for a long time, looking up at the Buddha statue. There is always a magical power here that can instantly calm my restless heart.
Comment on Qiao Bo's Ice and Snow WorldIt can be said that the most anticipated itinerary for me on this trip is Qiaobo Ice and Snow World. As a southern child who loves skiing, Qiaobo Ice and Snow World in Shaoxing can be said to be the favorite of skiers from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. In the southern region with fewer ski resorts, Qiaobo Ice and Snow World is the only sports venue in Zhejiang that can provide skiing throughout the year.
Entering the Qiaobo Ice and Snow World, following the usual process of renting snow clothes, shoes, gloves, helmets, and snowboards, one can directly enter this huge snow rink. As soon as you enter, you can feel the chill rushing towards you, and I really enjoy the chill brought by the snow rink. Looking around, there are only two very wide ski slopes, with the national flag and the flag of the Beijing Winter Olympics hanging on top. The hosting of the Winter Olympics has also made more people enthusiastic about skiing.
The snow here is fully equipped with snow making equipment from well-known German manufacturers and internationally advanced refrigeration technology, ensuring that skiing enthusiasts can enjoy the endless fun of skiing all year round. Stepping on it is like stepping on real snow, with a soft foot feel. Even beginners don't feel particularly painful when falling (who hasn't fallen a few times at the beginning of skiing~)
On the snow rink, there are always heroic skiing postures, and I found something magical. There are more professional skiers who can ski in the snow rink. In the past, ski resorts in the wilderness of Zhejiang in winter were just beginners who would make dumplings, and they also joined in the excitement. Those who truly love skiing and know how to ski would want to come to indoor ski resorts to have fun all year round, and Qiao Bo has provided the best skiing place for snow lovers in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai.
The primary roads here are 200 meters long and 40 meters wide, with an average slope of 8 degrees. The intermediate and advanced roads are 300 meters long and 40 meters wide, with an average slope of 17 degrees. Different slopes correspond to different degrees of skiers.
There are quite a few people skiing here, and it's also because it's more cool to skate on. Every person who loves skiing should want to skate a handsome fallen leaf.
On the left side of the trail is the magic carpet. It takes about 2 to 3 minutes to reach the top by riding the magic carpet. During non peak hours, there is no need to queue up and you can go skiing directly. A ski resort with just the right foot traffic is simply too comfortable for skiers.
You can also bring your own equipment to skate, which can save you a rental fee. A day of skiing in Qiaobo Ice and Snow World feels far from enough
Here, the passion of skiing is perfectly combined with wholehearted relaxation. Whether it's spring, summer, autumn, winter, wind, rain, or lightning, you can fully enjoy the fun of skiing. Skiing in all seasons is no longer far away for friends from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai.
Comment on Anchang Ancient TownIn the evening, taking advantage of the still dark sky, we rushed to Anchang Ancient Town. Anchang can be said to be the most authentic water town in Shaoxing, with almost no commercial development. Walking through the quaint old streets and houses, we felt the rustic atmosphere of life in the ancient town.
Anchang Ancient Town is one of the four major ancient towns in Shaoxing and one of the first batch of historical and cultural towns in Zhejiang Province. Located at the northwest end of Keqiao District, Shaoxing City. The ancient town was first built in the Northern Song Dynasty and was burned down multiple times due to war. It was rebuilt during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and its architectural style inherits the typical characteristics of the Jiangnan water town, which is simple yet elegant.
The house is built along the river, full of Jiangnan flavor. There are almost no tourist groups here, but more locals who live leisurely lives. Many people say that this is Xitang ten years ago. The ancient town is built along the river, with a commercial market on the north bank and residential buildings on the south bank. Numerous stone bridges over the water connect the two banks.
Compared to many ancient towns, Anchang Ancient Town is indeed relatively low-key. There is a typical scenery of Jiangnan here, but there has not been large-scale tourism development. Coming here feels like encountering a treasure, because there are few tourists here and travel is not as crowded as other ancient towns. The environment of this ancient town is quiet and beautiful. Here, Anchang sausages and Renchang soy sauce, which were once recommended by "China on the Tongue", must be tasted when you come here.
Comment on Keqiao Ancient TownFalling in love with a city often starts at night, and after seeing the darkness of Keqiao Ancient Town, I love Shaoxing even more.
Enjoying the moonlight by leaning against the railing, riding on an open boat, listening to a small tune in a bar, and gently shaking a Song rhyme fan... In the dark of Keqiao Ancient Town, the flowing light is colorful, and the night scenery is picturesque. Tourists shuttle through it, singing and searching for music, allowing a dialogue between poetic life and fireworks life.
The night in Keqiao Ancient Town is splendid and poetic. The century old houses on both sides are reflected on the river, and the people on the arch bridge come and go. The reflection on the water surface is like a crescent moon. I feel like crossing through this poetic Keqiao Ancient Town to the prosperous era of the Song Dynasty.
The lights on both sides are shining brightly, strolling along the riverbank under the corridor, and being in the commercial district of this traditional Jiangnan water town. Under the soft colored street lights, this scene is like a modern version of the "Along the River during the Qingming Festival".
Some people say that Keqiao Ancient Town is the largest town in Keqiao District, one of the first 18 historical and cultural districts in Zhejiang Province, and also an important stop on the Tang Poetry Road. Its beautiful scenery once attracted Emperor Qianlong to come and explore.
Every night, Keqiao Ancient Town staged an exciting light show, divided into seven main themes: Dreaming of Flutes, Neon Water Alley, Flowing Water Tower, Listening to Rows for Night Navigation, Eternal Scenic Spots, Quiet Willows in Front of Courtyard, and Floating Boats on the Green Marsh. A thematic storytelling, projected on black and white walls, tells the story of Shaoxing's traditional culture and history.
When the landscape lights of Keqiao Ancient Town light up, unique scenes such as One River and Two Streets, Three Bridges and Four Rivers, Shaoxing Terrace Gate, and blue brick and white walls have a unique charm under the reflection of the lights. Town in the scenery, floating in the water, water blending in poetry, on the ancient canal in eastern Zhejiang, combined with laser lights and water mist, Keqiao Ancient Town is like a fairyland on earth.
There are many ancient bridges in Keqiao Ancient Town, which lie horizontally on the river. The stone arch bridge spanning the Xiaoshao Canal is called Rongguang Bridge, and the Yongfeng Bridge spans the north-south river. Rongguang Bridge is one of the famous bridges in the Shaoxing Ancient Bridge Group. It is a great scenic spot on the bridge, where you can have a panoramic view of the ancient town. Walking on the Keqiao Ancient Bridge, you can experience the unique charm of this ancient town.
Commenting on the Millennium Torreya ForestIn the depths of the Kuaiji Mountains in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, there are over 100000 ancient Chinese torreya trees growing. They have a life spanning thousands of years, are living agricultural cultural heritage, the crystallization of ancient civilization wisdom, and the magical Chinese torreya is a unique fruit here.
Coming here, I am here for this Chinese king of Chinese torreya trees. It is the oldest torreya tree in the thousand year old torreya forest, with a tree age of 1300 years. The trunk is thick and sturdy, and it takes five adults to hold it. Of course, this mountain tree is also surrounded and protected, and can only be viewed from a distance without being desecrated or played with.
Surrounding the area around the king of Chinese torreya is a continuous forest of Chinese torreya trees. Among the hundreds of ancient Chinese torreya trees, there are more than 23000 centenary old Chinese torreya trees. The continuous Chinese torreya trees are also the main source of livelihood for the local people at the foot of the mountain. Chinese torreya fruits are called third-generation fruits by local torreya farmers. They sprout and differentiate in the first year, bloom and bear fruit in the second year, and mature in the third year. The buds, flowers, and fruits are shared by three generations, and must be picked manually. Chinese torreya fruit is one of the rare dried fruits in the world. If you have the opportunity, you can come to Shaoxing to taste it.
Comment on Wuxie Scenic AreaFor Shaoxing, many people's impression remains in the gentle and elegant water town atmosphere, but here, there is also a spectacular Wuxie Waterfall. The Wuxie Scenic Area is located in Zhuji, divided into Wuxie Lake, Taoyuan, Dongyuan, and Xiyuan, with the most spectacular being a five fold waterfall. The original name of Wuxie was Wuxie, which means "waterfall". This is also a representative scenic spot in Shaoxing.
Just as I entered the scenic area, there was a long corridor surrounded by green plants. This was originally a wisteria corridor, but it's not yet the season. Strolling down such a long corridor in the hot and humid weather, climbing up to the top of the dam, one can see a lake of clear water, with green waves rippling and unfathomable.
At first sight of Wuxie Lake, it is still a beautiful scene of Jiangnan landscape. Trees grow from the river surface and reflect on the lake surface, like ink paintings.
The scenic spot also has strong humanistic characteristics. The majesty of the ancient temple memorial archway in the Tang Dynasty and the quietness of the Wuxie Temple make me look forward to seeing the moment of Wuxie.
Although Wuxie Zen Temple is not the focus of the Wuxie Scenic Area, it is an ancient temple with a history of over 1200 years and still has good incense to this day. Due to its location in the scenic area, the path of burning incense and worshipping Buddha at Wuxie Zen Temple may seem winding, but it also tests the devout spirit of pilgrims. The stream by the ancient temple murmurs, and walking along the stream leads to the Wuxie Waterfall.
The Wuxie Scenic Area, known as the Little Wild Goose Swamp, has inspired many poets to write numerous masterpieces and masterpieces here. A turbulent flow hangs between the strange mountain cliffs, folding into five cascades, from bottom to top, from the fifth to the first, with each waterfall having a different shape.
The fifth discharge is grand and spectacular, with the waterfall becoming more graceful and compact as it rises. At the first discharge, the waterfall becomes even smoother. It is hot outside the mountain, but very cool inside, making it a great place to cool off in Shaoxing.
Because it is coming from the direction of Wuxie Zen Temple, the waterfall you see is also upside down. The Wuxie Flying Waterfall is known as a dragon sailing out of the sea, with the largest drop. Under the sunlight, water droplets will also give birth to a beautiful rainbow.
The fourth waterfall is the wild horse cascading, as its name suggests, especially thrilling. Due to the steep cliffs above and below, visitors in the past had to climb and risk their lives to see its beauty. Now, they can enjoy it up close from the boardwalk.
The third waterfall is known for its diverse forms. Among the five cascading waterfalls, it has the most spectacular momentum and is also the most diverse in posture. The left waterfall cheers and jumps, gracefully flying and sometimes spraying horizontally in a jet like manner, with water splashing everywhere; The waterfall on the right closes at different times, like a shy girl gently lifting her veil. The flow of water is divided and combined, forming a myriad of postures.
The second cascading waterfall is the Twin Dragons going out to sea. The water here cannot be seen to the end. As its name suggests, this waterfall has been seen here for a long time and feels like a dragon can be seen.
The first discharge is relatively gentle, called Moon Cage Thin Gauze. The flowing water here is particularly slow and not as imposing as the other waterfalls, but there is a large deep valley below this waterfall, known as the "Little Dragon Well". The cascading waterfall with five twists and turns highlights its unique charm, and strolling and admiring the waterfall in this deep mountain is like walking into a poem, with endless aftertaste.
Comment on Yueju TownWhen you come to Shaoxing, the performance you cannot miss is Yue Opera. The birthplace of Yue Opera is in Shengzhou, Shaoxing, where there is a Yue Opera town where all the elements are closely related to Yue Opera. Come here and enjoy the charm of Yue Opera.
For a hundred years, Yue Opera has been thriving. In the town of Yue Opera, one can fully understand the form, costumes, content, and other aspects of this artistic performance, and inherit the precious cultural heritage of Yue Opera.
Here, you can also enjoy the elegant and exquisite performances of Yue Opera, where the beautiful figures and graceful singing voices of the teachers touch the heartstrings of the audience. The beauty of Yue opera has been passed down from generation to generation, and classic opera pieces have also been passed down for a long time. Listening to the graceful and melodious Yue opera, one can feel the delicacy of Jiangnan art.
The outdoor stage in the Yueju Town also showcases exciting Yueju performances during the day.
If you want to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Yue Opera from day to night, you can also stay here directly. There are modern and elegant hotel rooms here, spacious and bright, allowing you to immerse yourself in Yue Opera all day long.
Comment on the Great Buddhist TempleFour hundred and eighty temples in the Southern Dynasty, with numerous towers and misty rain, were scattered throughout the Jiangnan region. Some of them have survived for thousands of years and still retain some of the charm of the past! Nowadays, many thousand year old temples have become famous tourist attractions, and the most famous ancient temple in Shaoxing is the Great Buddha Temple in Xinchang.
The Dafo Temple was first built during the Eastern Jin Dynasty and has a history of over 1600 years. It is not only a national 4A level tourist attraction, but also a filming base for many domestic films and TV dramas. In many domestic films and TV dramas, familiar scenery and scenes of the Xinchang Dafo Temple can be seen.
A huge Buddha character led me into the famous Shicheng Ancient Temple both at home and abroad.
Because the Grand Buddha Temple itself is open for free, local elderly people will come to the green shade of the temple early in the morning to exercise.
On the way to the Great Buddha Temple, you will pass by the Release Pond. The rock wall south of the pond is inscribed with the name "Amitabha Buddha in the South" by Master Hongyi, and the three characters "Release Pond" are written by Qian Silian.
The Great Buddha Temple is hidden behind the release pond, appearing vaguely, making people curious.
Come to the Great Buddhist Temple to sincerely worship the Buddha, burn and worship devoutly, and be sincere in your heart. In the Grand Buddhist Temple Scenic Area, there are many architectural attractions, such as the Heavenly King Hall, the Western Hall, the the Shakya ManiHall, the Grand Buddha Hall, the Dizang Hall, the Sutra Pavilion, the Hidden Crane Tower, the Thousand Buddha Hall, and the Wise Men's Pagoda. The scenic area is very large, and it takes more than half a day to walk alone.
Ginkgo biloba stands tall for thousands of years, but it's not yet autumn and it's all green in appearance.
The secluded yellow wall corridor within the Great Buddha Temple is the most picturesque. Walking through it, one can feel the peace of the Buddha. The lush trees, yellow high walls, and red temple doors make up the most devout scenery.
The most famous statue in the Great Buddha Temple is the giant Maitreya Buddha statue, known as the largest Buddha in the Jiangnan region. It has a history of over 1600 years and took about 30 years to complete the carving. It is located in the midst of cliffs and cliffs, but unfortunately, it was being repaired when we went there, and we were unable to see its true appearance.
On the way to the Sleeping Buddha Temple, one can also look back at the Buddha statue hidden deep in the mountains, which is the holy land of Foshan, commonly known as the open-air Maitreya. The mountain is like the body of a great Buddha, sitting cross legged with bare chest and abdomen, and its natural form is exquisite and lifelike. A open-air Maitreya with a blue sky above her head, a smiling face, and a charming and innocent demeanor appeared before me, kind and kind.
There is also a reclining Buddha, the first in Asia, hidden in the Great Buddha Temple. It was built in 2003 and was carved from the original rock mass in the cave. Walking into the cave, the peaceful and tranquil Buddha statue blends into the natural mountain.

Comment on Cangqiao ZhijieWalking through the ancient streets and alleys of Jiangnan water towns, you will feel the truly charming place in Jiangnan. That's why I came to Cangqiao Zhijie in Shaoxing, the most artistic ancient street in Shaoxing city.
A short 1.5-kilometer ancient street gathers characteristic residential buildings from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, selling souvenirs with Shaoxing characteristics. Each backyard here has a small river port, which is a typical "one river and five streets" pattern in Shaoxing city.
Small bridges and flowing water, neighborhood gates, mottled white walls, and ancient bluestone slabs take people back to the Ming and Qing dynasties a hundred years ago.
You can also buy many local souvenirs of Shaoxing here, take a discount from the Three Flavors Bookstore and go home to treasure every bit of Shaoxing.
So many wine bottles, at first glance, are the characteristics of Shaoxing. Shaoxing people who love drinking place wine jars outside the door, and the aftertaste of the wine floats in the air, which is very pleasant.
Traditional Shaoxing pastries are printed with the most beautiful Shaoxing, bringing a bag home allows family members to also experience the delicious taste of Shaoxing.
After nightfall, Cangqiao Straight Street showcased a stronger water town style. The ancient street under the red lantern was like a scroll of ink painting unfolding before my eyes.
Comment on Shaoxing CuisineKnowing the rich and delicious cuisine of Shaoxing, I never expected it to be even more abundant and exquisite than I had imagined. The series of time-honored delicacies and local specialties immersed me in the unique Jiangnan cuisine of Shaoxing. During these few days of travel, I visited the famous local restaurant in Shaoxing and almost tasted Shaoxing's specialty cuisine. Until I returned to write about it, the aftertaste left a lasting impression on me.
Comment on Xianheng HotelIn the hometown of Lu Xun, there is a famous century old hotel in China: Xianheng Hotel, which is also famous for its portrayal of Kong Yiji in Lu Xun's works.
Xian Heng Hotel was founded in the Jiawu year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. It is the most famous century old restaurant in the wine town of Shaoxing. "Xian" means "capital", "Heng" means "smooth", and "Xian Heng" means "everyone is going smoothly".
For Xianheng, the most impressive ones are these eight large bowls, with eight plates of cold dishes neatly arranged in front of him, and the taste of Shaoxing distiller's grains is overwhelming.
Shaoxing's white cut drunken chicken is particularly delicious, with a strong taste of distiller's grains, and the chicken is also very tender.
Stinky tofu, the most famous snack in Shaoxing, is a must for every meal. If you smell the stink and eat the fragrance, you'd better eat more!
Another type of snack in Shaoxing, Ma Tuan, is black and unadorned, like glutinous rice balls.
Of course, you also need a pot of Shaoxing yellow wine to experience the most mellow flavor of Shaoxing.
Comment on Gu Yue Long Shan RestaurantGuyue Longshan is not just a famous brand of Shaoxing Huangjiu. Beside the Huangjiu Museum, there is also a Guyue Longshan Restaurant, which is a restaurant specializing in Huangjiu banquets. If you want to eat traditional Shaoxing cuisine, come to Guyue Longshan.
In almost every main meal in Shaoxing, this dish is almost always served. Shao San Xian is a Shaoxing version of the mixed stew, which includes fish balls, shrimp, black fungus, bamboo shoots, etc. My favorite dish is this fish ball, which is round and smooth, and can be eaten one at a time.
Fried anchovy, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, is also a specialty fish in Zhejiang cuisine.
Salad Chicken rolls, the favorite of cold dishes, appetizers.
Braised three treasures in oil, braised pork trotters in brown sauce, and braised pork tail with chestnuts are all hard dishes.
Special dry pot shrimp, grilled razor clams with iron plate dried vegetables, tiger spot fish, and various seafood are also unique in Shaoxing cuisine.
Meigan cai with Pork. Shaoxing people like to eat Meigan cai with Pork in a cake. It's delicious.
There is also the unique Shaoxing double odor, which can only be eaten in Shaoxing. It smells bad and tastes delicious.
Comment Treasure HuntShaoxing Treasure Hunt, a major IP of Shaoxing cuisine, is also a city name card of Shaoxing. When coming to Shaoxing, be sure to come to Treasure Hunt to taste the flavor of Shaoxing. You can find this shop in Luzhen and Cangqiao Direct Street.
Flower carved drunken shrimp, this shrimp is marinated with Shaoxing yellow wine.
A whole roasted chicken, with crispy skin and tender meat, crispy and soft, was eaten by us as soon as it was served.
Comment on Kong Yiji RestaurantWith Xianheng Hotel, there is Kong Yiji Restaurant, and the elements depicted by Lu Xun also fill the entire Shaoxing city. On our last night in Shaoxing, we arrived at Kong Yiji Restaurant on Cangqiao Street to taste the Shaoxing cuisine here.
At the entrance of the restaurant, there is a statue of Kong Yiji, gazing at the tourists coming and going, with a unique charm.
On the last day of the itinerary, I finally had my long-awaited Huangjiu milk tea. The Huangjiu milk tea here is unique to Shaoxing, with a rich aroma of wine combined with milk, which unexpectedly blends into a very smooth texture.
To end with a White cut chicken, Shaoxing cuisine starts with White cut chicken and ends with White cut chicken, and White cut chicken has also left a deep impression on my taste buds.
