"The walls and tiles are white, the water surrounds the bridge, the river is raining, and the awning is shaking in dreams." Everyone has Jiangnan in their hearts.

My hometown of Changshu, named after "the soil is fertile and there are no floods and droughts every year", is a thousand-year-old city. Located in the Jiangnan Water Town, it is known as the "Jiangnan Blessed Land".

If you don't like crowded and famous tourist attractions, Changshu is definitely the best choice for you to get close to Jiangnan in your heart. This thousand-year-old city has natural scenery with green mountains and beautiful waters, as well as a profound cultural atmosphere.

I am a native of Changshu, and my ancestors have lived in this land for generations. I always tell my friends that this is a beautiful small city in Jiangnan, but it has the most authentic life in Jiangnan.

I like the city's four distinct seasons, and I also know what flowers bloom in every season. I always like to be alone, stop and go, and use my camera to record the subtle beauty of the city.

This is a grossly underrated travel destination and a really good place for a quiet and leisurely vacation. Friends often ask me, how should I play when I come to Changshu?

I took the time to compile a three-day and two-night classic travel guide for Changshu and share it with you who like Jiangnan, niche groups, and tranquility.

the first day| Play in a 5A-level scenic area at 11:00 am| One high-speed rail ticket arrives

Changshu is an hour's drive from Shanghai and more than half an hour's drive from Suzhou. Since the high-speed rail was connected last year, it has become more convenient to come to Changshu. The high-speed train from Shanghai Hongqiao to Changshu takes just over 50 minutes.

Don't rush, sleep until you wake up naturally in the morning and go to the high-speed rail station. With a high-speed rail ticket, you will arrive in Changshu.

12:00 noon| Stay in Jiangnan B & B

After leaving Changshu High-speed Railway Station, take a taxi to Shajiabang Scenic Area, which is about 10 kilometers away from Changshu City. Shajiabang Luedang Scenic Area is a national 5A-level tourist area and the largest ecological wetland in East China.

A Peking Opera and TV series "Shajiabang" made Chunlai Teahouse and Aunt Aqing known to everyone, and also made Shajiabang the biggest sign in the small city of Changshu.

In Shajiabang Scenic Area, there are two B & Bs: Jiangnan Luhua Bay and Jiuzhu Yilu.

The decoration styles are different and the positioning is different, but they are all very good. You can choose according to your preferences and remember to book in advance. When booking a B & B in the scenic area, you can not only get tickets free, but you can also be delivered to it by a battery car in the scenic area.

Luhua Bay in Jiangnan is opposite Hengjing Old Street in the scenic area, separated by a stone bridge. The price is relatively more expensive than staying in a B & B for a long time.

The room is required to be five-star and the details are in place.

Living in Yilu for a long time restored the original life of the gentry in the early Republic of China. It was a two-way courtyard that was once the backyard of the Diao family's compound.

A living room with windows on three sides. You can stay here, reading books, making tea, writing calligraphy, and watching a boat swaying by outside the glass door.

The bedroom is elegant and clean with no extra decoration. The sloping roof has a lot of space and the bedding feels great.

After staying at a B & B, take a short rest and go out for a stroll.

13:00 pm| Strolling around Shajiabang Scenic Area

Hengjing Old Street is the core attraction of Shajiabang Scenic Area. This is a street restored for the filming of the TV series "Shajiabang".

This street preserves the old appearance of rural buildings, absorbs the essence of ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, recreates the local customs of the 1930s and 1940s, and awakens people's memories of "dream hometown".

Here are deep houses and courtyards, small bridges and flowing water, blacksmith shops, dye workshops, snack bars, teahouses... Everything you need.

Strolling around the old streets, there are various specialty workshops and various snacks with unique characteristics of the water town, full of the strong charm of the Jiangnan water town.

On the old street, you can start shopping and eating mode. The fourth sister is chicken, the Diao family is chicken, and the skin is sunken... When you are tired from shopping, you can go to the Luhua Film and Television Theme Cafe and sit idle.

Slow down and slowly experience Jiangnan.

"Build a seven-star stove, cook three rivers in copper pots, and set up an eight immortals table to entertain sixteen parties."

Of course, you can't miss the famous "Chunlai Teahouse" on Hengjing Old Street. Order a cup of tea and drink slowly.

If the time is right, you can also drink tea and listen to a few Pingtan songs that you don't understand. It's very interesting.

Shajiabang, the most beautiful is the reed swamp. You can't miss the hand-cranking boat in the reed maze.

Get on a hand-operated boat at the dock, shuttle through the reed pond, and listen to the boatwoman sing a folk song from Shajiabang in Changshu Mandarin. It feels great.

This season is the season when lotus flowers bloom in Shajiabang. Delicate pink lotus flowers are blooming everywhere. It is recommended that you go to enjoy the lotus in the morning or evening.

"Little lotus only showed her sharp horns, and there were dragonflies standing on top of it." Do you still remember the poem you recited in your childhood?

"The beauty of Shajiabang lies in the slow time when the shed boats sway, the elegance of the morning fog in the reed swamps, the brilliance of the sunset above the blue waves, the spread of egrets, and the sea of flowers on the sandbars..."

Waiting for you to taste it carefully.

18:00 pm| Taste Jiangnan Water Town Food

If you live in Shajiabang Scenic Area, if you don't want to run around, you can order a few Changshu local dishes at the restaurant in Luhua Bay, Jiangnan at night.

Steamed three delicacies, stir-fried blood glutinous rice, Shajiabang chicken, steamed rice straw in oil... Su Bang dishes pay attention to original flavor, light and healthy.

You can also go to the Luyi Resort Hotel at the entrance of the scenic area for dinner. The home-cooked dishes there are exquisitely arranged and have the delicacy of Jiangnan.

19:00 pm| Enjoy the night sky across the river

Living in Shajiabang Scenic Area, the most important thing you can't miss is the "Hengjing Never Sleeps" at night.

"Spend one night looking for a story and meeting an era in an old street."

"Hengjing No Night" integrates elements such as immersive performing arts, folk arts, light and shadow technology, neighborhood sightseeing, night cruise ships, dress change interaction, etc., and will bring tourists a hierarchical and three-dimensional night tour experience.

The "Hengjing Sleepless Sky" project consists of three major parts: "Iron Flower Danxin","Ludang Night" and "Dark War·Shajiabang".

You can experience the famous national intangible cultural heritage "Iron Forging Flower", and the immersive performance "Reed Dang Night" allows you to travel through time and enter the story.

The night is getting deeper, and at the Hengjing Theater, not far from Hengjing Old Street, another grand finale is about to begin. It is the large-scale live-action performance "Dark Battle in Shajiabang".

The half-hour performance of "The Dark Battle of Shajiabang" was exciting every minute, and the lineup should not be underestimated, making people dizzying. Moreover, the costumes, lighting, and actors are all quite professional.

It was already 21:30 after watching the three performances, so I slowly walked back to the inn.

At night, listening to the chirping of insects, the night was very quiet. It is far away from the city and there is no light pollution. If it was a summer night, there were stars outside the window like a dream.

Gradually fall asleep, sleeping in Jiangnan in your dream.

the next day| Feel the thousand-year-old Jiangnan Ancient City at 11:00 a.m.| Strolling around Changshu's Laocheng District

"Holidays that can't sleep until they wake up naturally are all hooligans."

Wake up in the singing of birds and flowers in Shajiabang Scenic Area, have breakfast, and you can check out. Take a taxi to a hotel in the city, store your luggage, and you can travel in peace of mind.

"The water in the seven streams reaches the sea, and the green mountains half enter the city."

The ancient city of Changshu has a history of more than 1,700 years since it was established as a county in the Western Jin Dynasty. The Urban area is surrounded by Yushan Mountain, and the flowing water of Qinchuan runs through the city. Although the mountain is not high, it is easy to climb the mountain comfortably and get close to nature.

My favorite Liuxian River and Tongjiang Road, you must visit it.

Except for renters, most of the people living here are elderly people.

I like to stroll around like this, watching an old man sitting on a rattan chair basking in the sun in a daze, or watching several old people gather together to chat about family affairs, I always feel that time is stagnant here.

Whether it's sunny, cloudy or rainy, it feels good.

On this familiar stone road, nothing has changed in spring, summer, autumn and winter. Wintersweet has failed, wisteria has blossomed, roses, honeysuckle, Lingxiao... Year after year, it reincarnated in this withering.

There is no commercial development here, and it retains the original Jiangnan feeling as it was hundreds of years ago.

12:00 noon| Feel the daily local cuisine

Not far from Tongjiang Road, there is a "Yi Bowl of Wontons" restaurant where lunch can be served.

All kinds of stir-fried noodles, wontons, and bacon rice are all good and affordable.

You can also order a cup of mung bean soup, which is cold and cool in summer.

13:00 pm| Tea tasting in Jiangnan Gardens

When traveling to Changshu, there are more famous scenic spots, including Shajiabang Scenic Area, Shanghu Scenic Area, Yushan Scenic Area, etc., as well as several famous gardens in the Laocheng District area: Fangta Garden, Zengzhao Garden, Yanyuan...

These three gardens are not far away and are all in the Ancient City. You can choose 1 or 2 to visit. Or choose a garden and sit back and drink tea all afternoon.

Fangta Garden is located at the eastern end of Changshu Ancient City, adjacent to Fangta Street. It is a newly built classical garden on the site of a historic site in the Song Dynasty.

In Fangta Garden, there is a Fengshui Tower with a history of more than 800 years, which guards Yucheng for thousands of years. It is called Fangta. Fangta Garden also has the Changshu City Stele Inscriptions Museum, the Changshu City Celebrity Hall, etc., where you can learn about the history and humanities of the city.

It only takes ten minutes to walk west from Fangta Garden to reach Yanyuan.

Yanyuan, also known as Yangu Garden, has a history of more than 220 years. It is one of the private gardens with the longest standing and the most complete preserved pattern among Changshu classical gardens.

Walking into Yanyuan, you will find pavilions, pavilions, courtyards and deep corridors, with appropriate twists and turns and unique. Usually, there are very few tourists, less than ten, and it is very quiet. You can carefully taste the artistic conception of Jiangnan gardens.

Walking from Yanyuan to Zengzhao Garden, all the way along Beimen Street and entering Shuyuan Street, you can experience the most authentic Jiangnan ancient city.

Zeng Zhaoyuan, formerly two separate gardens, Zeng Garden and Zhao Garden. In January 2005, the two parks were renovated and merged and opened to the public, and they were called Zeng Zhao Garden.

Zeng Yuan is a famous classical garden in Jiangnan. Zeng Pu, a famous writer and translator in modern China, spent his youth and later years in the garden.

The best time to visit Zengzhao Garden is when the lotus flowers bloom in summer. It is quite spectacular, but the temperature can be relatively hot.

17:00 pm| Check into a downtown hotel

I stayed at a B & B in Shajiabang for one night, and recommended you stay in a hotel in the city for the second night. The most recommended one is Jinhai Hualijia Hotel, which is convenient to go anywhere.

Jinhai Hualijia Hotel is located at the foot of Yushan Mountain, embracing Yushan National Forest Park, and is located in the commercial and shopping center of Changshu. The surrounding supporting facilities are very complete, including Changshu Museum, Changshu Library, Weng Tonghe's former residence, etc.

Passing through the grand gold in the sparkling hotel lobby, we arrive at the comfortable hotel room with milk tea color. Outside the floor-to-ceiling window is the clear arc of Yushan.

The details in the room and the texture of various objects strive to create a kind of Jiangnan grace and beauty. meticulous and exquisite.

If you don't want to go out at night, you can also have an exquisite dinner at Xiaocheng Xianghui Restaurant in the lobby on the first floor.

Shiny tableware, exquisite tables and chairs, gorgeous lighting, red water cups, and swaying candlelight create a quite romantic atmosphere.

Of course, you can also look for local delicacies in Changshu, such as the more famous Wangsi Restaurant, Shanjing Garden, etc. Changshu's steamed vegetables are quite famous. You can try them.

19:00 pm| Free walk after dinner

After dinner, you can take a walk to digest your food. You can visit Yushan Park, which is frequented by local citizens, or go up the mountain road and climb Yushan at night.

Don't be afraid, you will meet many Changshu locals on the mountain road.

You can also go and see what Changshu's Ancient City looks like at night. It is very different from the day and gives you a better feeling. Whether it is Yushan Park or Changshu Ancient City, you can reach it within walking distance from Jinhai Hualijia Hotel.

Wu Nong speaks softly, with small bridges and flowing water. Because there is no vigorous tourism development, it looks like a small city in the south of the Yangtze River.

On the third day, I felt a cup of tea and a bowl of noodles at 10:00 in the morning| Eat noodles and drink tea next to Xingfu Temple

Changshu people's morning starts with a cup of tea and a bowl of noodles. I slept until past nine o'clock in the morning, so I gave up the hotel buffet breakfast and recommended you to go to several noodle restaurants next to Xingfu Temple to eat noodles and drink tea.

Changshu people eat noodles, and there are various terms and conditions. You can know if you are a regular visitor by ordering.

"Broad soup","white soup","heavy oil","light oil","heavy green"... Come to a bowl of "eel chops double poured in tight soup, heavy green and free fresh hard noodles", do you know what it means?

The most classic and distinctive thing in Changshu is mushroom oil noodles, which are made from a wild mushroom from Yushan Mountain. I suggest you try it.

13:00 noon| Stroll around Xingfu Temple or Yushan

In Changshu, famous temples include Xingfu Temple, Sanfeng Temple, Baoyan Temple, etc.

"Enter the ancient temple in the early morning, and the sun shines high in the forest at the beginning. The winding path leads to the secluded place, and the meditation room is deep with flowers and trees... "This well-known song" The Temple Behind the Temple of the Mountain "is like a brainwashing divine song, circling in my heart.

If you come to Changshu, don't miss Xingfu Temple. You can not burn incense or make a wish, just walk quietly.

Hollow Pool, Free Life Pond, Junzi Spring, Rizhao Pavilion... They all have stories of the years. You can also go around the bamboo forest in the backyard, where you can see green spots everywhere.

You can also take the Yushan cableway next to Xingfu Temple and go straight up to the top of Yu Mountain to Jiange, the highest point of Yushan Mountain. Overlooking the city, you will understand what a "water town" is called.

15:00 pm| A high-speed rail ticket leaves

Changshu is a city that needs to be tasted slowly so that you can gradually understand its beauty. In fact, it is not enough to experience the city for three days and two nights.

There are also Shanghu, Baoyan, Nanmen Tanshang, Xiaoyunqi Temple, Jiange on the top of Yushan Mountain, etc. But I hope that when you come to Changshu for the first time, don't rush and stroll slowly.

This is your first encounter with Changshu. I hope these three days will be leisurely, rather than having to check in many attractions. Save your thoughts and come again next time.

At three or four in the afternoon, you can take a taxi to the high-speed rail station. This lazy Changshu travel guide has been written carefully for a long time. Will you like it?
