★ Tourist location: Tuisi Garden, Tongli Ancient Town, Wujiang, Suzhou
I thought that during the epidemic, there would not be too many tourists in tourist attractions. For example, Yixing, which we visited just two days ago. Although it is not an exaggeration to say "reserved the venue," the tourists in the entire scenic area were really lacking, allowing us to enjoy a quiet journey. I didn't expect the ancient town of Tongli to be so famous. As soon as we walked to the visitor center, we found a sign standing at the door. The scenic spot that can be entered by swiping a card actually required a current-restriction appointment and required a download of Sucheng codes... Well, Suzhou people have their own Sucheng codes, so they don't recognize Xikang codes and Sukang codes.
Therefore, we can only operate on site and apply for the Sioux Code. Although the process was a little troublesome, tourists were still in high spirits. They filled in the Sioux City health code and made an appointment to enter the town. Fortunately, there were volunteers assisting along the way, and we entered the ancient town smoothly. Who knew that when I walked to Tuisi Garden, I would have to make another appointment.
Tuisi Garden can be regarded as the number one attraction in the ancient town. It is not only an entrance to Baoshan, but also an invulnerable road. Although we have actually been here before, since we have all reached the door, there is no reason why we should not enter. As a result, we could only patiently follow the entire process. Fortunately, we were not old and the operation of our mobile phones was quite smooth, so it didn't take much time. Elderly people who don't know how to use smartphones can only enter the visitor center to make manual reservations. Naturally, this effort would be delayed for a while longer. However, all kinds of inconveniences did not stop the tourists from being enthusiastic.
This most famous garden in Tongli was built in the 11th year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. It was built after Ren Lansheng, an official of the Qing Dynasty, was dismissed from his post and returned to his hometown. The name of the garden comes from the words "Father Lin served the monarch, and he was loyal to him." Therefore, Ren Lansheng, who was dismissed from his post and returned to his hometown,"made up" for his mistakes in Tuisi Garden. We don't know whether Lord Lan truly felt that he was at fault or made a self-deprecating gesture. In any case, fortunately, Lord Lan was dismissed from office, and we were able to see this beautiful garden in Tongli.
Tuisi Garden covers an area of 5674 square meters and a construction area of 2622 square meters. This shows how luxurious the houses of ancient people were. Obviously, the green area is very large! We live in a high-rise building today. If we want to be in green space, we can only go to the park. There is a small garden next to it, which has also become a good place for citizens to take a walk and relax.
Although it is not on the main street, the gate of Tuisi Garden is still very grand. The two antique palace lanterns also create a classical flavor for the gate. It is originally a classical building, which is what it should mean.
The tea hall, also known as the flower hall, is used to receive ordinary guests. There is a plaque reading "Tuisi Garden" hanging in the hall, which is Mr. Qigong's calligraphy treasure. In the middle is a vertical traditional Chinese painting, and couplets are hung on both sides. "Those who plant trees must cultivate their roots, and those who plant morality must cultivate their hearts." Very philosophical.
Yinyu Hall is the main hall of Tuisi Garden. It is used to receive noble guests and hold ancestral worship ceremonies and weddings and funerals. The three characters on the plaque were written by the famous calligrapher Shen Peng. I couldn't help but feel a little proud because this Mr. Shen Peng came from Jiangyin. The middle hall is also a vertical axis, with two couplets, which is atmospheric and solemn.
Behind it is the residential Wanxiang Building, also known as Zouma Building, with brick doors on both sides, which is the living place of the owner and his family. The two small buildings are very exquisite, with hollow and carved shapes and an all-wooden structure. This is also the pattern that Suzhou people like. The second floor is connected by a corridor, so the two small buildings can communicate with each other.
Going out from the side door is the garden. The dry boat at the door is used for guests to park their sedans. However, it is under repair, so we were unable to board the boat. Because Jiangnan gardens are rich in water resources, they usually have an untethered boat, but this boat is completely on the shore and is just made into the shape of a boat.
Walking past there is a "Jiannan Nanchun" room with paper-cuts on the walls, which is very exquisite. I took a photo and was told that photos were not allowed here. Of course, these paper-cuts are for sale.
Sitting Spring and Moon Building is a place where relatives and friends stop. The environment here is pleasant and it is said to be always spring. Judging from the name of this building, it is probably also a good place to enjoy the moon during the Lantern Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival.
Climbing up the stairs on one side, you can overlook the entire garden. In fact, of course, there is no shortage of water in the garden. The buildings are arranged next to the water and hidden among tall and dense green trees, making them very quiet. The place with the best view is the Range Rover Pavilion. Looking forward from the fence, even if there is no breeze blowing, the scenery here is indeed pleasant.
Upstairs are the bedrooms of the young masters and young ladies. What looks dignified and elegant is the young masters 'residence, and what looks colorful is naturally the young ladies' boudoir. Men and women are naturally different. Unless a woman like Ms. Qiu Jin, who is naturally chivalrous, does not give up at all. Miss Lan is obviously a standard lady from a big family, so the boudoir is also a favorite decoration for ordinary women.
The Tuisi Cottage has a large space. The long platform is equipped with a small screen, and in front of it is a table with stones placed. The painting hanging under the plaque is a picture of three friends of pine, bamboo and plum trees in the cold year. The couplets on both sides are in seal style. For people who are accustomed to the Song Dynasty imitating the Song Dynasty style, regular script and black body, this character is really too difficult to recognize. There will definitely be no more than those who cannot recognize it. Therefore, looking at this couplet, we can only admit that we are illiterate with embarrassment.
Since there is a lake, there is naturally no need to tie a boat. It is called the "Red Boat". It has a head but no tail. It is built of lake stone and is half immersed in the lake. There is a hidden murmur of water, which may be from a rockery not far away. There are tourists standing on the bow of the boat feeding fish, and the koi carp are swimming happily on the bow of the boat, as if they themselves are a flowing painting.
There is a pavilion built on a rockery. If you are tired from walking, it is naturally pleasant to rest here. Not only because there are seats around, but also because the scenery in this area is really good. The surrounding areas are shaded and cover the sun. The sun shines through the branches and leaves, and the color of the leaves becomes less profound and more charming. It is really peaceful and peaceful.
Buildings with mushroom rain generating cooling are very interesting and are rare in classical gardens. The entire wall behind a royal concubine chair was covered with mirrors, and the garden was suddenly "borrowed". It is said that sleeping on a couch in front of a mirror to enjoy the scenery in hot summer also makes it cool. I roughly studied the layout. Except for the fact that it might feel a little cool when facing the water, I really couldn't see that such a building had the cooling function.
Osmanthus Hall is named because of the planting of osmanthus trees all over the courtyard. This is naturally the place where the host family enjoys osmanthus in autumn. Ancient literati and officials were really interesting in life. From plum blossoms in winter, to orchids in spring, to osmanthus in autumn, they could admire wintersweet blossoms when the snow fell. No wonder they liked to recite poems and lyrics. They really had too many foundation for life.
The red maples in the courtyard are planted on one side of the courtyard wall, and the white walls and black tiles open a fan-shaped window. The classical beauty can catch people's hearts. The large green area outside the courtyard has become the best background. Although the sun is not bad today, the sky is not blue, which inevitably has some flaws in the ointment. If it is set against blue sky and white clouds, it will be even more beautiful when you think about it.
In terms of scale, this garden is not very large, but the layout shows ingenuity everywhere. It is elegant and beautiful and has the taste of ancient literati. It is said that Ren Lansheng spent 100,000 taels of snowflake silver to build this garden. This should have been a big deal at that time, right? It is no wonder that Mr. Yu Qiuyu proposed the retreat in "Cultural Journey" and arbitrarily said that it was built with "collected money."
I privately thought that Mr. Yu had wronged Ren. The "Biography of the History of the Qing Dynasty·The Biography of Ren Lansheng" recorded Ren Lansheng's achievements in his life in great detail. During the famine in Shanxi and Henan, Ren Lansheng donated a low salary and raised hundreds of thousands of rocks. When awarding Fengying Liusi Road, a lot of practical things were also done. The post road between Fengzhou and Chuzhou has become a smooth road for more than 200 miles from Linhuai to Jiangpu, Jiangsu, which can be described as a livelihood project. Create a boat pond, build a double eye hotel, and set up a profit bureau. Poor families can lend money to officials to make a living. Set up infant breeding halls, cowpox bureaus, smoking cessation bureaus, and mulberry education bureaus to provide a source of food and clothing. The new school of justice was purchased to prepare famine relief strategies during drought and locust epidemics, and to create abundant warehouses. There were floods in the fourteen prefectures and counties along the Huaihe River, and work and relief were simultaneously carried out, but no one was in exile. The excerpts of the deeds alone are enough to make people understand that Ren Lansheng's appointment as an official can really benefit the people of the region.
Of course, he was later dismissed from office, but the emperor sent two ministers to Anhui to investigate and conclude that "the impeachment was false." In other words, the so-called crime of "enriching oneself for personal gain" was found to be unsubstantiated. It can be said that Ren Lansheng was a good official with a sense of responsibility in doing practical things. In the officialdom of the late Qing Dynasty, where corruption was prevalent, he was simply like a clear stream. Therefore, his dismissal may be the result of official strife, not that he really made any major mistake.
Four generations of the Ren family lived in Tongli. His grandfather and grandfather were both born in the Imperial College, and his father was also a country gentleman. The family should have a rich ancestral wealth. In fact, after Ren Lansheng resigned from his post and returned to his hometown, he donated more than 1,000 acres of his ancestral property and self-owned grain fields to charity land to complete his father Ren Yousheng's unfinished good deeds. Thinking about it, Ren Lansheng wouldn't need to "embezzle" public funds for the money to build Tuisi Garden, would he?
After the completion of Tuisi Garden, Ren Lansheng did not live there for a long time. Under the severe situation of "the river burst into Zhengzhou and Anhui was flooded", he was ordered to go to northern Anhui to handle relief for the victims, but accidentally fell off his horse and died of illness in Yingzhou. He was 51 years old. Even on his sickbed, Lord Ren still "painted the disaster with his hands and said nothing about family matters." I don't believe that such a good official would "greedy" for silver to build a garden. Although this garden is extremely exquisite, it is famous at home and abroad.
The rich land leaves fragrance over the years, and the years change the smoke and dust.
The three bridges gather shadows and fragrant fragrance, and farming and music pass through the family with new green willows.
