Good travel is to live like a local person. -- inscription
We have many beautiful imaginations about Jiangnan. From "everyone says that Jiangnan is good","The spring water is blue than the sky, and the boat listens to the rain to sleep", to "In the long and lonely rainy alley, I hope to meet a girl with sorrow and resentment like lilacs"...
From taking a boat around the waterway, walking through the deep bluestone alleys, to the blue tiles and white walls, small bridges and flowing water, and people... The beautiful and refined Jiangnan has always been a beautiful dream. This time, I came to Changshu, a blessed land in Jiangnan, and my dream became a reality.
Changshu, located in the southern part of Jiangsu Province, is also called Qinchuan and Yucheng. It is located in the Jiangnan water town, with seven streams of water and ten miles of green mountains. Changshu City has a long history. As early as 5500 years ago, Changshu's land was already inhabited by humans.
When it comes to Changshu, people first think of the familiar slogan "Jiangnan blessed land, come to Changshu often." In recent years, Changshu Yushan Cultural Tourism Resort has put forward the slogan of "One city with mountains and rivers, free life", which has aroused the resonance of many people who like to travel and vacation.
Before coming to Changshu, I had always been unfamiliar with the concept of a tourist resort. After arriving in Changshu, I curiously asked a friend. A friend smiled and told me: Tourist resorts are different from the 5A-level scenic spots we know well. Tourist resorts focus more on the construction of holiday products and holiday experiences, and the investment scale is much higher than the construction of 5A scenic spots.
Changshu Yushan Cultural Tourism Resort is located in the central area of Changshu City. It has a unique Yushan cultural genre, connecting mountains, water and cities, showing the public a leisurely and comfortable "slow" lifestyle.
This time, we spent three days and two nights in Yushan Cultural Tourism Resort. There are no check-in options for iconic attractions on our itinerary, nor are there any hot scenes of "people following the crowd". We are more about slowing down with our friends, relaxing, and living like locals.

Weng Tonghe Memorial Hall, listening to the legendary life of the emperor's master In Changshu, Weng Tonghe (hé) is a famous person who no one knows. Weng Tonghe's father, Weng Xincun, was a teacher to the Tongzhi Emperor. Weng Tonghe was a teacher to the Tongzhi and Guangxu emperors, and was later called the "three generations of emperors of father and son". For a hundred years, Weng Tonghe's unparalleled talent, patriotic innovation, and clean self-esteem have been praised by the world.
Weng Tonghe Memorial Hall (former residence of Weng's family) covers an area of 6600 square meters and a building area of 3500 square meters. It is a typical Jiangnan residential building. The former residence moves in seven directions, with three axes from east to west, covering an area of nearly ten acres of land. It is simple and unadorned, and maintains its original appearance.
The main building in the former residence,"Cai Yi Tang", is a typical Ming Dynasty building in Jiangnan. It has a history of more than 500 years since its construction. It has painted beams and carved buildings and is magnificent.
There is a statue of Weng Tonghe in the former residence. A long-bearded old man looks into the distance with sorrow in his eyes. Weng Tonghe has first-class attainments in calligraphy. Hudian Dragon Boat Base, a thousand-year-old technology Hudian Dragon Boat Base covers an area of about 100 acres, including Hudian Dragon Boat Hall, cultural square, boarding dock, track, etc.
The Hudian Dragon Boat has a history of more than 1000 years. It is themed twice a year with the farming season,"rowing young crops" in early spring, and "autumn newspaper" when rice is ripe.
The Dragon Boat Hall is about 800 square meters, which is eye-catching. It allows you to comprehensively understand the origin, legends, processes, grand occasions, development of dragon boats, as well as the customs and inheritance of the Hudian Dragon Boat Festival. A green wood-structure dragon boat is displayed in the hall of the exhibition hall. The craftsmanship is quite exquisite, and the dragon head is carefully carved and lifelike.
You can also watch the artistic rice work-"Changshu Field" next to the Dragon Boat Base. "Changshu Field" uses colorful rice of various colors as "pigments" and rice fields as "canvases" to draw the words "Yushan Cultural Tourism Resort", as well as the Xicheng Gate and dragon boat patterns. Shanghu, enjoy the tranquility by boating on the lake! I came to Shanghu Scenic Area adjacent to Yushan Cultural Tourism Resort. Shanghu is named after Jiang Shang (Jiang Ziya) lived in seclusion and fishing here. The main water surface is 800 hectares, and the misty waves are vast, complementing the Shili Yushan Mountains, forming a natural landscape painting.
The lake is inlaid with seven islands: Lotus Xiangzhou and Diaoyu Island and Peach Blossom Island, forming a unique landscape with islands in the lake and lakes on the islands. The lake like a mirror is almost the same color as the sky. The lush branches and leaves on the lake are reflected on the lake, like a freehand ink painting.
Strolling on the forest plank road on the island, the lush green is mixed with the beauty of early autumn, and the nose is full of fresh vegetation. It is so comfortable and enjoyable!
At the beginning of the lanterns, the boating on the lake, the water is shining and the water is swaying, and the sound of oars and the shadows of lights are swimming in the middle, leaving all worries behind and enjoying the boundless tranquility among the lakes and mountains!
You can also experience various projects of "Flying Bear Academy" in an immersive and interactive manner. The "authentic ancient sound" of the Qin Museum, the library's splashing ink, the painting museum's shallow crimson mountains and rivers, the printing museum's dividing red and white, the chess museum's chess game, the poetry museum's boiling wine and discussing poetry, making sugar figures, painting sugar paintings, artistic paper-cutting... Each one is more fun than the other. Address: Waihuan West Road, Changshu City

Nansuyuan Cultural and Creative Market, have you found creative things? The market in my impression is always on lively streets or squares, with stalls next to each other, bustling and noisy. However, the Nansuyuan Cultural and Creative Market is hidden in an old residential area.
A friend told me that Nansu Courtyard turned out to be an abandoned warehouse, overgrown with weeds. Under the transformation of founder Asu, it has taken on a completely new look and become a famous cultural and creative market in Changshu.
The Cultural and Creative Market invited many craftsmen in Changshu to set up stalls to integrate traditional humanistic elements into cultural and creative products, allowing warm creative objects and interesting souls to gather here with old feelings and new stories.

Homestay
Public hope. Ma Zhai, an old Qing Dynasty house hidden in the downtown area, Gongwang Ma Zhai is a Changshu city-level cultural protection unit. It has a traditional brick-and-wood structure, and the overall style is white walls, black tiles, and simple. It is a typical Qing Dynasty courtyard building.
The horse house leaves most of the space for public areas. Seven courtyards of large and small are connected in series and four Chinese-style courtyards are enclosed, making it easy to move around and enjoy nostalgia anytime and anywhere.
What I love most is the study room. Various books cover the entire wall, giving it a bit of a library. Empty your thoughts in the elegant resting space, and a book can kill a wonderful vacation time.
On rainy days, you can still sit under the eaves and listen to the rain in a daze. At this moment, I just want to make the time slow down, slower.
The renovated Ma Zhai has a construction area of 2263 square meters, but only 9 rooms in 3 room types are built. It snows quickly and it is sunny, the rivers and mountains rain, the water pavilion is quiet, the autumn mountains rain, the nine peaks snow, the hills and forests, and the creek mountains thatched. Each room has a different design style and has its own story.
In addition, while retaining the charm of the old house, the horse house injects modern life concepts into it. Whether it is parent-child travel, group building parties, or couples 'vacations, it can meet needs. Address: No. 85, Tanshang Shangtang Street, South Gate, Yushan Street, Changshu City
Yu Jiantang House met the life he longed for. Yu Jiantang House stood in the alley of the Laocheng District of Changshu. Only when he walked into it did he realize that the old house had a great background. It was originally the private garden of Tang Yikui, the governor of water transport in the late Qing Dynasty.
The boss told us that the Tang House itself is a cultural relic, and money cellars, porcelain slices, housing infrastructure stone strips, etc. from the Ming Dynasty were dug out in its lobby. It was abandoned and dilapidated before it was repaired. Fortunately, the local government protected and utilized the old house and gave it new life.
Most of the original landscape of the Tang House is preserved. The superior site selection and elegant landscape everywhere highlight the atmosphere of Zen, tea and Tao, arousing the most primitive connection between people's hearts and nature. Find a small space at random, hold a book, and brew a cup of Yushan white tea. The fragrance of your mouth comes to your nostrils, and the whole person becomes peaceful and peaceful.
Tang House has 20 characteristic rooms, designed with the themes of "forest","shadow","leisure", etc. The room layout is also unique. Every decoration in the room is a carefully purchased old item. It is matched with Zen-inspired furniture, and the overall tone is extremely comfortable and harmonious. You can see pavilions and gardens that cure greenery indoors, making people feel relaxed unconsciously. I think this is the life I yearn for! Address: No. 43, Xiannan Street, Yushan Resort, Changshu
Food Chapter Wang Si Food Tasting Crooked Chicken Few people know that the "best chicken in the world" written by Jin Yong actually comes from Changshu... When you come to Changshu, you must try Wang Si Food's intangible cultural heritage food-Crooked Chicken.
The raw material of the Jiaohua chicken made by Wangsi Food is Yushan Real Estate Sanhuang chicken. It is killed alive and removed, washed and processed. After the secret seasonings are made and marinated, the chicken belly is filled with mushrooms, ham, fresh meat, chicken gizzards, scallops, etc. and various seasonings, wrapped and bundled with lard net and lotus leaf, then coated with sealing mud on the outer layer, and baked in pine wood or oven for four hours.
The barrier of the mud makes the roasting more evenly heated. After cooking, the mud will crack with a strong hit, and the aroma of meat will come to your face, making the saliva burst in an instant. Tear a piece of chicken and make it crispy and oily with the fragrance of lotus leaves. The various fillings inside make this meal more delicious. In a moment, only a few chicken bones were left. Definitely worth a try! Address: Southeast Food City, Huasheng Road, Changshu City
Wang Si Lao Noodle Restaurant Tasting Chao Taizu For Changshu people, they always have to finish a bowl of steaming stir-fried noodles in the morning to officially start the new day. There is nothing that one bowl of fried noodles can't solve. If it really doesn't work, then two bowls will be used.
My favorite is the fried noodles from Wang Si Lao Noodle Restaurant. Wang Si Lao Noodle Restaurant is located next to Wang Si Restaurant, a well-known local "Chinese time-honored brand" in Changshu.
The noodle shop combines the special dishes of Wangsi Restaurant with our stir-fried and watered noodles, and has launched more than 30 complicated stir-fried and watered noodles, including stir-fried large row noodles, abalone noodles with spring onions, stir-fried eel paste noodles with spring onions, noodles with mushroom oil, traditional braised meat noodles, big three fresh noodles, secret smoked fish noodles... just by hearing the names, people can't help but want to taste them all.
The main feature of stir-fried noodles lies in the bowl of soup. The main ingredients for making soup include meat bones, chicken bones, fish bones, eel bones, etc. After finishing this bowl of noodles, add a special pastry such as Double-core Tuan, Huangshang, Square Cake, Blood Nuon Cake, and Sweet Date Cake. Chew it carefully and slowly, which will leave people with infinite aftertaste. Address: No. 358 Yushan North Road, Changshu City
Changshu Steamed Vegetables Changshu is the "Hometown of Chinese Steamed Vegetables". The most exquisite Jiangnan flavor is found in this small town in Jiangsu. In Changshu, mushrooms on Yushan Mountain, fish fresh in the river, bamboo shoots in the bamboo forest, lotus seedlings in the lotus pond, free-range chickens and ducks... are all ingredients for steamed vegetables.
In terms of "steaming" methods, after years of development, Changshu steamed vegetables have included various categories such as dry steaming, plain steaming, buckle steaming, powder steaming, rice steaming, and lotus leaf steaming. Soup is the key to enhancing the flavor of steamed vegetables. It is mainly suitable for thick and thin, elegant and palatable. In fact, it is used together with old hen, ham, pork bones, eel, etc., and requires more than six hours of slow cooking. The flavors of various materials must be integrated, which is called "fresh".
The biggest feature of Changshu steamed vegetables is its ultimate cutting skills. After the pattern cutting skills cut the ingredients, the Changshu steamed vegetables on the plate will be more layered and aesthetic, and can present a more unique artistic beauty.
