Written before the itinerary
Born and raised in Jiangnan, I don't know when I began to develop the Jiangnan complex. Yangzhou in March with fireworks, Hangzhou with dazzling flowers, Nanjing outside the blue sky with three and a half mountains, and of course, Suzhou, where people all sleep by the river.
It is said that the elegance of Suzhou is hidden in its bones,
"When you come to Gusu, you will see that everyone is leaning against the river." Suzhou, located in the water network, has streets built along the river, with water and land running parallel, forming a unique style of "small bridges, flowing water, and homes". The tranquil alleys and delicate courtyards are filled with a hint of water, all shrouded in a lush green water color.
The poetry of Suzhou is also naturally formed;
"Heaven above, Suzhou and Hangzhou below." In this extremely charming place, you can take an umbrella to stroll on the winding stone road in the misty and rainy afternoon; Or choose an exquisite garden, carve out a path to taste a cup of tea, or simply go to the Taihu Lake Lake to enjoy a picturesque scenery of mountains and lakes, which has its own elegance lingering in my heart.
It is said that Suzhou is a city that requires a calm mind to experience. When idle in Jiangnan, Suzhou is the first choice. On the weekend, I made plans with friends to go on vacation in the surrounding areas. Thinking that I haven't been to Dongshan yet, I set my sights on the eastern mountain of Suzhou, which is known as the backyard of Suzhou people.
You can stroll around the quaint and elegant Lu Xiang ancient village, find a canopies, swim over small bridges and rivers, and explore the human fireworks behind the winding paths and alleys;
You can also explore the exquisitely carved buildings with exquisite craftsmanship, searching for the bustling and beautiful old dreams of Jiangnan on the tiles of the garden and the mottled white walls;
Picking loquats in the Yuhua Scenic Area, dressed in Hanfu, savoring fresh and sweet loquats, collided with the classical Zen under the pink walls and black tiles;
Or take a boat to Sanshan Island, which is known as the Little Penglai of the Taihu Lake Lake. In a trance, there is a joy of looking for the Peach Blossom Garden.
Listening to the soft words of Wu Nong, savoring the delicious food of Suzhou, and savoring Suzhou in the treasure trove of Dongshan, no matter which check-in method you pick, it can awaken the memories of Jiangnan that you long for deep in your heart.
Overview of itinerary

Luxiang Ancient Village, Visiting the "Three Elements" Gathering of Talents and Spirits
The ancient alley is surrounded by clear water, and the microwave emits a faint green hue; Song softly and whisper softly, welcoming the boat.
Our first stop at Dongshan in Suzhou was at Luxiang Ancient Village.
Adjacent to the misty peak in the east and facing the the Taihu Lake Lake in the west, it is known as the Lu Lane of the first ancient village of the Taihu Lake Lake. Backing the mountain and facing the lake, it is an ancient village with relatively well preserved hall buildings in the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is named because there are six alleys leading to the Taihu Lake Lake in the village. There are still dozens of buildings in the Ming Dynasty, while there are more buildings in the Qing Dynasty. It is also the best preserved ancient village with the highest quality, the largest number and the best preservation among the architectural groups in the south of the Yangtze River. It is known as the "First Ancient Village of the Taihu Lake Lake" and the "Museum of Architectural Art of the Ming and Qing Dynasties".
Luxiang Ancient Village has one street, six alleys, and three river ports. One of these streets refers to the Zishi Street, which is about one kilometer long in the center of the village, while the Six Alleys refer to the six streets and alleys of Guxi Lane, Qigan Lane, Jiangjia Lane, Hanjia Lane, Wenning Lane, and Kangzhuang Lane. Various shops are scattered among them, creating a unique atmosphere. Walking into the long alleys and the secluded alleys, it seems like walking into a long historical corridor. The story of the rise of the Dongting commercial gang from the Southern Song Dynasty to the southern Song Dynasty unfolds slowly, and a long historical picture unfolds.
The first thing I saw when I stepped into the ancient village was the small "Cold Valley Ferry", which connected to the Hanshan Harbor, and the river directly led to the Taihu Lake Lake. This was also the only channel for ancient ships to the outside world. Although the ferry was small, it carried the hope of a village.
The quaint and elegant ancient ferry bears witness to Wang Ao's youthful vigor and determination, as well as his profound and introverted demeanor when he resigned and returned home. The couplet on the wooden columns on both sides of the ancient ferry, "The sunset is late in the fishing pool, and the slanting sun is autumn in the orange grove", comes from Wang Ao's poem "Returning to the Taihu Lake Lake". Why don't you come to the ferry here to experience the footprints of ancient people and their ever-changing moods.
Walking along the river, one can hear the gentle melody of the boatman paddling in his ear. The blue waves are as gentle as the sky, flowing with the light and shadow of time. Not far from Hangudu, there is a Huaide Hall, which used to be the residence of concubines in the Qing Dynasty. It was built using the materials left from the construction of Huihe Hall in the past, and now it is the folk museum of Luxiang Ancient Village. The treasure of the town, "Ruizhi Duoyun Peak," was originally a relic of the Huashi Gang during the reign of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty, so Huaide Hall is also known as "Yifeng Garden.".
The roof not far away is covered with vines, complementing the circular gate and presenting a gentle appearance.
Continuing forward, Huai Gu Tang is located deep in the village. The white walls and blue tiles of the Huaigu Hall first catch the eye with a small door that resembles a symbol of good luck. At the same time, it cleverly frames landscapes such as long corridors, towers, and rockeries into a painting, integrating them into the art of gardening. This is also a common gardening technique in Suzhou gardens, known as "framing scenery". Drawing from natural scenery can be said to be the "projector" of ancient people.
The Huaigu Hall was originally a royal ancestral hall and a place for ancestor worship. Today, it still houses a portrait of the old ancestor Wang Ao in the Juxian Hall, which is extremely noble and dignified. Zaijin is a small and exquisite "grain garden" in the home. Although the area is not large, everything that should be in the garden is complete and impressive.
Continuing further, you will come to the Three Yuan Archway here, which are Jieyuan, Huiyuan, and Tanhua Archway. It is said that the archway was personally built by the emperor for Wang Ao, and the pillars reflect the past.
But what kind of talent has surpassed Wang Ao, who has won two yuan in the front? It is said that although Mr. Wang Ao is very skilled in literature, strategy, and martial arts, and several examiners also believe that he deserves third place, he found some excuses to demote him to third place because one of the examiners, Shang Lu, who had also won three yuan in a row, was jealous of his talent. On the Tanhua Archway, there are also the words "Yipin" and "Huatan", representing Wang Ao's official position - in the end, Wang Ao's official position was much higher than his previous first place.
When it comes to Wang Ao, one cannot help but talk about his extraordinary talents and stories - after ten years of studying hard, Wang Ao won the titles of Jieyuan, Huiyuan, and Tanhua, and held the highest position as a minister. He served the emperors of Chenghua, Hongzhi, and Zhengde, making him a true "elder of the three dynasties". However, what has made him so famous is not only his stories of being a "scholar of the world" and "achieving three goals in a row", but also his several peaches and plums - the most famous of which are Tang Bohu, Wen Zhengming, Xu Zhenqing, and Zhu Zhishan, the "Four Great Talented Scholars of Jiangnan". As noble as Tang Yin, he also praised his mentor, "The first article in the sea, unparalleled prime minister in the mountains."
And Huihetang is the former residence of this Wang Ao. Taking its auspicious and smooth meaning also reflects Wang Ao's demeanor of being able to support a boat in the prime minister's belly. This large hall building, built on the foundation of the Ming Dynasty, is grand in scale, with a total of five entrances in front and back, appearing well arranged and exquisite, making it the soul of the ancient village.
Huihetang is named after the phrase "Hui Feng He Chang" in the Analects of Confucius. The backyard of Huihe Hall is called Shicong Garden, and there is a water pavilion in the garden that is used to listen to Kunqu opera across the shore. Looking at the curved and upturned eaves of the water pavilion, accompanied by the swaying waves of water, it seemed that the soft singing and murmuring of Wu Nong could also be heard in my ears.
In the ancient village of Luxiang in Dongshan, Suzhou, besides Wang Ao's former residence, another Ming and Qing dynasty garden building that must be visited is the Baojian Hall, the former residence of Ye Mengde.
This garden was first built in the Song Dynasty and called Dream Garden. It was renamed Baojian Hall in the early Ming Dynasty. Baojian Hall does not occupy a large area, but the small and exquisite Jiangnan gardens are fully reflected here. Pavilions and towers, small bridges and flowing water, rockery pavilion, and Huizhou style architecture with flying eaves and hanging feet, gray tiles and white walls complement each other, creating a unique charm.
The most famous snack here must be those white jade square cakes. The cake is as its name suggests, and the white and smooth Hetian Meiyu is as good as before. Taking a bite, the sweetness of the bean paste blends with the elegant taste of glutinous rice on the tongue, leaving a lingering fragrance on the lips and teeth. Square cakes were neatly arranged on the table, like cute and clean little girls next door, with the ingenuity of old craftsmen from ancient villages behind them.
Coming out of the streets and alleys, walking on the deep blue stone path, the soft Suzhou dialect drifts in my ears, with elderly people basking in the sun and tourists admiring the beautiful scenery. Although there are many tourists, there is no noise at all. It is quiet and peaceful. The buildings on both sides of the river, with pink walls and black tiles, are arranged in a staggered manner, perfectly blending with the smoke and rain of Jiangnan. The passing boatmen sway their oars and sing a tune, slowly pushing away the slightly rippling waves under the boat. The sunlight opens the gaps of time, creating a warm and tranquil atmosphere that goes without saying.
If you come to Luxiang, don't miss the 8mm book on Shouxi Street. Take a look at the bookish residence hidden in the beautiful Wuzhong area.
As the borrowing point of the Dongshan Branch of the Wuzhong District Library, "Millimeter Book Bar" is regularly replaced by dedicated personnel at the town's cultural and sports center to facilitate borrowing by customers in the store and surrounding villagers. Spring is just right, light a cup of coffee, and the lingering fragrance lingers. Walking through the old times, lingering in the fragrance of tea, lingering in nostalgia, also has a refreshing fragrance, mellow several mountains and rivers.

Delicious food appreciation, the Su style cuisine of Dongting Hotel
When you come to Suzhou, the most important thing you can't miss is the local specialty cuisine!
Located at the intersection of Moli Road and Renmin Street, Dongting Hotel is a well-known century old restaurant in Dongshan. It is divided into two floors: the first floor and the second floor, the Peacock Hall. According to locals, the creative design and "Song Family Banquet" dishes of Dongting Hotel have become the benchmark of Dongshan cuisine and a legend.
The decoration of the store is retro and exquisite, with classical screens, wooden doors and windows, and carved corners, all telling the nostalgic stories of the old house.
Surprisingly, there are also some historical earthen stoves and Eight Immortal Tables inside, which can inadvertently make people dream back to the time when the literati and literati listened to Qu Er drinking and having fun.
In addition to the environment, the dishes here are also quite excellent. The beautiful scenery of the Taihu Lake Lake and the exquisite family feast of the Song Dynasty make a perfect combination, creating a poetic and picturesque realm. Whether in the form of packaging or production, it is so unique and pleasing to the eye.
They are all irresistible Soviet style delicacies~
Rainbow Road, passing by the red, yellow, and blue of Mondrian
Coming out of the Dongting Hotel with a satisfied stomach, I heard that there was also a popular internet road nearby, so I couldn't wait to take my best friend to check in. In no time, I arrived at the coveted Rainbow Road No.1, Bi Luo.
This road is 10 kilometers long, with red, yellow, and blue markings parallel to each other, extending infinitely. From a distance, a rainbow road winds around the middle of the road, adding a touch of beauty to the monotonous road.
People can't help but think of the red, yellow, and blue blocks that shine against the infinite horizontal lines under Mondrian's brush. The precise lines are drawn with bold colors to create a different atmosphere, adding a rainbow colored ribbon to the ordinary road.
At the homestay, enjoy a delicious authentic Soviet style meal
In May, the weather in Suzhou is always changing, and it is said that Suzhou should be the most suitable for rain and mist. Although it may seem distant, new clothes are gradually getting wet. The bluestone road, wet alleys, and gray white eaves and walls beneath my feet have all been washed away by the gentle rain, giving off a unique charm.
The rain didn't stop, so I took my friends and hid in the surrounding homestays. The overall architectural style was also pink walls and black tiles, but it collided with modern glass to create a different kind of beauty. There are over thirty types of fruit trees and hundreds of flowers and trees in the garden, with charming flowers nestling against each other. The lush loquat trees are adorned with numerous fruits, not to mention the rustling bamboo forest that isolates the heat from the outside. Every flower and grass is full of love, and every brick and tile is full of meaning! Suddenly walking in, I thought I had accidentally entered a paradise.
The dinner was also decided here, and the delicious dishes here are taken from fresh organic ingredients from farmers, mainly fish and shrimp, restoring the taste of the ingredients themselves.
Especially the freshly served pickled tofu, which has a rich and delicious taste, has won the applause of the whole hall;
After the meal, a plate of freshly picked loquats was placed on the fruit, with a bright yellow color that was particularly tempting. Soon, everyone ate them all.
Rain flower scenic spot, picking all the gold from a loquat tree
What comes to mind when you mention the name "Yuhua Scenic Area"?
At the end of spring, rain falls into flowers, and in a daze, it seems as if one can see petals falling in the wind all over the sky, scattering like rain. It is believed that the Yuhua Scenic Area is named after this.
Yuhua Scenic Area is located at the top of Dongshan Mountain, commonly known as "Yuhua Terrace". It began in the Ming Dynasty and was built by Zheng Dengyuan, a wealthy merchant from Dongting. He devoted himself to the filial care of his mother and built Taoyuan Villa in the dock, planting peach blossoms extensively. During spring floods, the flowers fall like rain. There is also a Buddhist saying that the heavens send down many flowers, filling the sky and descending, known as the "frequent rain and flowers in the precious land.". Not only that, Yuhua Scenic Area also preserves more than twenty famous historical sites from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, making it a historical museum in nature.
As soon as you enter the door, you can see an open lawn that extends from the flat ground all the way up the mountain, making people only want to run freely on it. Perhaps it is this cleanest grass fragrance that can leave some space for our souls and soothe the alienation and anxiety brought by the city. In fact, when traveling, you don't necessarily need some unique scenery, but rather comfort. When you feel that this place is where your soul resides, believe that you have found your Tahiti Island.
Nowadays, it is no longer the season to see peach blossoms. Although it is regrettable that we cannot see the scenery of flowers falling like rain, it coincides with the juicy and sweet season of loquats. Picking loquats can also be a pleasure - putting on an antique robe and strolling in the aroma of loquats.
At this moment, the loquat is shining with tempting gold! The value of this "early summer golden fruit" lies in its freshness and juiciness. If you want to taste the best flavor of loquat, of course, you have to go into the countryside and pick it yourself~
The loquat tree is lush and lush, with its branches desperately reaching towards the exhibition sky, and its long leaves standing tall and powerful. This place is bustling with tourists, some bringing children to experience life, while others come to appreciate the scenery and take photos. As each loquat leaves its branches, it begins a new journey, and people also approach their ancestors in the most primitive way. The loquat tree has abundant and drooping fruits, and even young children can experience the joy of picking.
On the land are baskets of loquats, big and thin skinned, orange yellow in color, pure and eye-catching like Matisse's paintings, proudly proclaiming their existence. The clean loquat peeled off its outer layer, and the plump juice dripped down the skin. The loquat melts right into the mouth, whether it's eating the fruit or swallowing a sip of sweet water. The children savored it in large gulps, holding one in their hands and their eyes fixed on the other.
Coming out of the loquat picking area and continuing forward, one can see the tranquil and elegant Yuhua Zen Temple. Cats on the road stroll leisurely on the stone road, more calm and composed than the old monk. They spend their days bathing in this scenic spot, perhaps adding a bit of spiritual energy.
The Zen temple nestled among towering trees, hidden and quiet. Yuhua Zen Temple, also known as Yuhua An, was founded in the Ming Dynasty and has a history of over 500 years. Although it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, it still silently protects people in that location.
While strolling around the Yuhua Scenic Area, I was even taken by my best friend to a nearby homestay for tea;
The gate of this luxurious homestay on Fisherman's Hidden Mountain is arranged with bamboo, like a secluded courtyard. There are several fish swimming leisurely in the pond inside the courtyard, and next to it is a huge bird cage, which is particularly elegant.
The ceiling of the hall is very high, complemented by a hanging curtain, making it feel like entering a Western style castle at first glance.
The cultural and decorative items here are also very elegant and exquisite, placed between the sparse and orderly windows, complemented by Western style fireplaces and leather sofas, giving off a sense of petty bourgeoisie.
The room is mainly made of wooden furniture, with Morandi color as the main color. It is gentle and not eye-catching, very clean and tidy.
In addition to the luxury of Yuyin Mountain, we also found an exceptionally elegant homestay with a name that complements "Yuhua Scenic Area" - Wangting Yuhua Scenic Area.
At first glance, the overall style is calm, relaxed, graceful, and elegant, especially clear and beautiful. White walls and black tiles, glass curtain walls, two seemingly unrelated elements, can be heard harmoniously coexisting.
The homestay is named after the first characters "looking" and "listening", meaning "looking at the sun, moon, stars, and clouds, listening to the wind, rain, and mountains and rivers".
The architectural style here combines Chinese and Western elements, with white sheds, cool stones, and simple green plants adding a touch of ins style to the area. Here, you can enjoy a panoramic view from the top, or waste your time in the room while soaking in hot springs.
The decorative style remains elegant and natural, from simple tea seats, wooden tables and chairs, to wheat ear wall decorations and fresh sofas, all are relaxed and comfortable.

Sanshan Island, with its picturesque lakes and mountains, is intoxicating
After driving on the vast the Taihu Lake Lake for more than 20 minutes, we arrived at Sanshan Island in Dongshan Mountain.
There is only one way to reach Sanshan Island, known as the Little Penglai of the Taihu Lake Lake, in Dongshan Mountain, which is by water. Taking a speedboat from Dongshan Changqi Wharf, you will soon arrive at a dimly lit island in the distance. Looking from afar, three mountains and a half fall into the blue sky, with a floating Laizhou in the water, there is a sense of joy in searching for the Peach Blossom Spring.
Located in the middle of the Taihu Lake Lake, Sanshan Island is named after its three peaks. Over 10000 years ago during the Paleolithic period, matrilineal tribes lived here. Sanshan Island not only has the stone Buddha of the Tang Dynasty, the ancient bridge of the Ming Dynasty, but also has a line of heaven made in heaven, four generations of stone in the same hall, and so on. There are many strange stones, all of which have their own stories and legends. After the erosion of wind, rain and years, it only makes this the Taihu Lake Lake pearl more brilliant.
Since this place is known as "Little Penglai", there must be some outstanding features. Its isolated geographical location has created its tranquility and uniqueness. Every homestay here is planted with flowers, trees, and bonsai, breaking away from the hustle and bustle of the city, allowing people to feel the old man lying on a rocking chair, gently shaking a fan to tell the story of the past's leisure and ease.
The island is not big. There are crisscross roads and birds and dogs heard of each other. Next to it is the sparkling the Taihu Lake Lake, stretching its posture. What a natural scene! The most unforgettable thing is the wild and free growing plants on the island. The clusters of small flowers growing on the roadside, the blooming wildflowers swaying in the dense shade of the trees, only make people feel that spring has not yet passed, and the next second, a charming and charming woman is about to emerge from the flowers.
The main characteristic activities here are boating and cycling. The boating and electric bike are both bright yellow, appearing particularly bright in the blue sky and dark green trees, making them very suitable for family activities. This type of boat is pedal style, with self control of direction, and driving alone will not be very tiring.
Taking the children leisurely boating and boating in the wetland, swimming through clusters of small bridges and flowing water, not only admiring the scenery along the way, but also telling the children stories of Niubei Stone and Xianglu Stone, which can be a pleasure.
Find another bike to ride around the island, blowing the gentle breeze on the lake, and inadvertently take in the spring scenery of the mountains.
Not only is it suitable for parent-child travel, but it is also suitable for team building. Outdoor expansion and water expansion are adjacent, whether it is yacht outings or high-altitude rock climbing and descent in quarries, all of which are particularly interesting.
It seems that every small and beautiful homestay hidden in the suburbs of the city has an unknown and touching story behind it.
And Guoyun Mountain Residence is no exception.
Guoyun Sanshan Island Store is located in Dongbo Village in the northern part of Sanshan Island, surrounded by a ring of arms, and the homestay forms its own harbor. This is one of the most secluded corners on the island, and the back mountain is the site of the San Shan Paleolithic culture.
Although Sanshan Island itself is an endless garden, the owner of the homestay still opened up a private garden covering an area of one acre in the homestay, named "Baiyun". The garden was meticulously crafted by Japanese garden master Xiang Chuanmao, and the flowing water system is staggered, with stacked stones scattered everywhere, showing an exceptionally elegant appearance. Sitting down in leisure time to watch the clouds roll and stretch, but it also has a unique charm.
For dinner on Dongshan Island, I had a heartfelt crayfish and, of course, a table full of fish and shrimp. These river delicacies nurtured in the well of Youran City are fresh, tender, and refreshing, satisfying!
At night, don't forget to go out and enjoy the night view of Sanshan Island. Many tourists choose to set up tents outside, while others sell snacks inside the tents. No one will disturb your thoughts. Imagination can be full, and in the twinkling stars, the usual surging fame and fortune, as well as deceit and deceit, are immediately purified. The clearest response is the heartbeat as you step on the road.

Carved Tower, Qionglou Yuyu Spring is always here
I don't know the palace in the sky, what year is it tonight, but I know that the carved flower tower on Dongshan is always sunny in spring.
Although spring is fleeting, the blooming of flowers often only lasts for a short period of time, while the flowers carved on wood come to life together with the carved buildings.
The Carved Flower Tower, originally named Spring in the Tower, is a famous quote from the Qing Dynasty poet Yu Yue in Suzhou, who said, "Spring is still here after the flowers fall.". Due to the fact that the main building's beams, trusses, doors, and windows are carved everywhere, wood carvings, brick carvings, stone carvings, and metal carvings can be seen everywhere, even with exquisite patterns on the ground. According to statistics, the building has a total of 3854 carvings of various types, hence it is commonly known as the "Carved Building". It is also known as the "first floor of Jiangnan".
To tell the story of this building, one must mention its original owner - Jin Xizhi. He attended a private school in his hometown when he was young. When he was young, he was taken by his fellow villager Xi Weisan to become an apprentice in a pawnshop in Chuansha County, Pudong, Shanghai. Later, he served as the chairman of the Shanghai Japanese Merchants Exchange. Although he has a low level of education, he has extraordinary business skills. By establishing a self owned portal and establishing the Gongmao yarn brand, the "Cotton Yarn King" was established by operating cotton, cotton yarn, cotton cloth, and Mobil Oil. When he made a fortune in his business, his family was known as "one million". He originally wanted to take his mother to Shanghai to enjoy life, but after being rejected by his mother, he spent more than three years building a spring tower and dedicated it to his mother.
The carved tower faces west and east, and is protected by a black wind and fire wall over 20 meters high, with Anhui style horse head walls sandwiched on both sides. This is because the gray and black exterior walls are not easily recognizable in the dark, which can prevent attracting the attention of thieves. Entering the wall, the first thing that catches your eye is the brick carved gate tower of the Carved Flower Building.
The brick carved gate tower originated during the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, and was greatly developed during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It draws on the nutrients of graphics, images, and decorative art, integrating installation functions and beauty. The form of brick carved gatehouses was typical and simple in the Ming Dynasty, and developed and improved greatly in the Qing Dynasty, especially after Kangxi and Qianlong, forming its own unique decorative style, known as the "beauty of the south".
The Dongshan Carved Flower Tower not only has exquisite workmanship in architecture, but also has a certain auspicious meaning in various cultural details, and is good at praising and praying. The most typical one is the famous "Six Sentences of Mouth Color".
As soon as you enter, you can see a golden treasure pot carved in the center of the eaves of the hall facing the gatehouse, symbolizing "treasure upon entering". This is the first catchphrase. On both sides of the treasure bowl are evergreen patterns, symbolizing eternal youth.
There is a bronze carved shop head on the gate, with patterns of chrysanthemum petals, auspicious heads, and six copper coins on the shop head. When you reach out and push the door into the house, the second line of praise comes: "Reach out and have money.".
After entering the door, I looked up and admired the "Yu Xiu Jue De" gate tower on the inner side of the wall. On the upper beam was a brick carving of "Yao Chi Celebrates Longevity", and the Eight Immortals congratulated the Queen Mother on her birthday. This is the third catchphrase: "Looking up brings longevity.".
When you step over the threshold, you can see that there are brass bolt holes on the threshold. Its homophonic sound is "fu". So, the fourth sentence is "Blessed is the foot.".
Looking back and admiring the hall, the four pillars of the hall have the wings of black hats, so this hall is also called the "Official Hat Hall". Therefore, the fifth sentence is called "Turning back has officials".
This carved tower was built by the Jin brothers to support their mother, and filial piety is an important theme. On the waist and skirt panels of the long window in the hall, the entire content of "Twenty Four Filial Pieties" is meticulously carved, with intricate and exquisite patterns, forming a strange and harmonious unity from a distance.
The main hall of the entire carved building is called the Phoenix Hall, and the plaque on the hall is "Yangxi Jingshe". Ji refers to the great official of the State of Wei during the Spring and Autumn period, Ji Yuan, who was a friend of Confucius and the founder of the Taoist philosophy of "governing by inaction.". "Yang" of course expresses the admiration of the Jin brothers for Bai Yu. A total of 172 phoenixes, or 86 pairs, were carved in the hall. In the local dialect, "86" and "Baile" are homophonic, symbolizing a hundred years of happiness.
The back hall is the place where female members of the family engage in activities, called the "Houde Hall". The ancient and powerful handwriting reflects the character of "the terrain is Kun, and a gentleman carries things with virtue". On the main beams and Xuan beams of the hall are exquisite wooden carvings from the past called "Records of the Western Chamber", and below the plaque is the painting "Pine Tree and Peony" by modern maritime painter Yu Wenhua. The plaques and couplets on the Carved Flower Tower are mostly from the social elites of that time, indicating that although Jin Xizhi did not hold any official positions, he still made many acquaintances with celebrities.
The most impressive thing is the young master's room, which features a large carved mahogany bed made of mahogany wood. Industry experts praise this bed as the "best mahogany bed in the Jiangnan Republic of China". Moreover, the young master's room combines Chinese and Western styles, featuring a Western style fabric sand hair, as well as imported stained glass and a phonograph. The combination of different colors represents the four seasons of the year. The light shining through the window suddenly made the entire room lively, adding a touch of vitality.
In addition to the master's room, there are also many rooms that use colored glass. The bold and bright Western modern style and antique carvings perfectly blend on this building. The patterns on the glass in different places are different, but each has its own characteristics, which is in line with the artistic charm of that carving.
As the head of the family, the master's room is not only exquisite on the surface. The Jin family does not have their own personal guards to resist bandits, so they can only keep their wealth hidden - somewhere on the ceiling, there is a hidden treasure room for their owner, where antique calligraphy, paintings, and silver coins are placed. The carved tower may seem to have only two floors, but in reality it has three floors. When robbers attacked, the owner quickly hid inside with his treasure. The secret passage is actually clearly placed behind the plaque "Spring in the Tower" on the front floor.
In order to handle commercial affairs, Jin Xizhi also arranged a study in the style of Confucian merchants in the Carving Tower - Mu Zhi Xuan. The plaque of "Mu Zhi Xuan" is the handwriting of the Qing Dynasty calligrapher Wu Xizai.
Continue to walk forward, you can see from the gap of the corridor that there is a two-story building with a ound ridge roof roof in the garden outside. The high warped wing corners of the roof and the colored western glass also make the Buddha Tower glow. Little known is that this is still the place where Mr. Song Qingling lived. In 1957, Song Qingling went to Dongshan to inspect the work. I stayed in the Carved Flower Building, which served as the county government guesthouse at that time, for a week. The place where I stayed was the Buddha Building.
Strolling around, it was lunchtime and decided to have lunch at the carved flower restaurant.
The restaurant is located in the Dongshan Carved Flower Tower scenic area, with a unique Suzhou style decoration that complements the Carved Flower Tower in some small details. There is also a clear pond and rockery inside, adding a touch of elegance to the restaurant.
The dishes are arranged in a grand manner, and they are very photogenic from any angle.
The ingredients in this store are also very fresh. Braised pork belly in brown sauce is fat but not greasy. It should be stewed for a long time, and it will melt in the mouth; Other home dishes, such as Steamed Pork with Rice Flour in Lotus Leaf with lotus leaves and rice flour, and small round dumplings made in wine, are also very authentic.

Dongshan West Street, with small bridges and flowing houses
Dongshan West Street, also known as Xixin Street, is located on the west side of Dongshan Ancient Town in Wuzhong, Suzhou. Since the Song Dynasty, it has been a bustling political and economic center of Dongshan, with a rich cultural heritage and numerous historical sites. Ancient houses, streets, wells, and bridges are scattered throughout the area.
There is also the ancient scenic spot "Xiangshui Creek" here. Xiangshui Creek is a mountain stream formed naturally due to its terrain, named after its natural sound. The winding and winding Xiangshui Creek flows through the old street, harmonizing with the thumping footsteps on the bluestone slab road. The profound historical charm irons the unease and anxiety in your heart, arousing your thoughts of a sea bass. The alley is too deep and winding, and you never know what kind of scenery is hidden behind the door here. The round pebbles have gone through what kind of wind and rain, and you can only gallop on imagined white horses. I wonder how many talented literati have left their ink treasures here.
Conclusion, Epilogue
Coming out of West Street, the journey of searching for treasures in Dongshan has come to an end~
I used to think that the only unique symbol of the city of Gusu was its gardens, with exquisite and unique pavilions and water pavilions. Through the accumulation of history and the invasion of time, Chinese classics were crushed into nature and life;
After visiting the treasure of Dongshan, I discovered the picturesque water town architecture with pink walls and black tiles, the picturesque scenery of lakes and mountains, the damp slate road, and the small and fresh street facing shops. Compared to Suzhou gardens, I prefer this lively yet quaint and elegant Suzhou. Perhaps this is the essence of Suzhou's bustling atmosphere.

1. About Suzhou
Suzhou is located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, and has been known as a paradise on earth by literati since ancient times. It was also amazed by Mark Polo as the "Venice of the East". The beauty of Suzhou is like the people here, introverted and gentle. There is no need to live in seclusion in the mountains and forests to enjoy leisure and comfort. Strolling through a few gardens in Suzhou can immerse oneself in the city. The scenery of the Taihu Lake Lake outside Gusu City and the ancient water town with Jiangnan charm add a beauty and flexibility to this land of fish and rice. Strolling along Pingjiang Road or Qili Mountain Pond, the ancient capital of over two thousand years has also gained a touch of literary and artistic atmosphere.
2. Regarding transportation:
There are many ways to visit the Taihu Lake Lake in Suzhou, but because the Taihu Lake Lake is very large and Dongshan Island and Xishan Island are far away, it is more convenient to drive by yourself. You can go to any scenic spot or project you want. However, even if you are not self driving, you can rent a car to go there, and many homestays and inns also offer car rental services.
Suzhou to Dongshan Bus:
A、 Take bus 502 from Suzhou Railway Station
B、 Suzhou Railway Station Subway Line 2 to Guangji South Road, transfer to Line 1 to Mudu Station (terminal station), transfer to bus or take a taxi.
Tours to various scenic spots in Dongshan are usually done by self driving along the circular mountain road along the lake, with two-way lanes and parking lots on either side. There are also many parking lots along the way, which are very suitable for self driving tours. There are several sections of the mountain road that are often congested on weekends, so it is necessary to reserve time for entry and exit.
3. Regarding accommodation: It is recommended to choose a place to stay based on your chosen place of play, which is convenient and easy~
4. Regarding cuisine:
Suzhou cuisine has a sweet taste and a wide variety of food. After thousands of years of development, there are now 12 major categories including Suzhou style dishes, Suzhou style braised dishes, Suzhou style noodles, Suzhou style pastries, Suzhou style candies, Suzhou style preserves, Suzhou snacks, Suzhou pastries, etc.
Of course, I also recommend you to go to Dongting Restaurant and Diaohua Restaurant to enjoy all the Suzhou style cuisine.
